Guest Reviews
- Craig (10/5): - Friendly staff, cozy room, great view. Overall a great place to stay. Not far from town and close to outdoor attractions and activities.
- Debra (10/5): - Very clean room, beautiful view, quiet, and the hosts were fabulous.
- ALBERT (6/5): - Wi-fi router not working. So no internet. Room small - barely able to move around. Breakfast rather meager, even for 8-room B&B.
- Anne (10/5): - The place was perfectly located. We had great breakfasts (once with a bagpiper on site). Our room had everything we needed. Thank you Jane and Joe for the comfort of your home and your hospitality
- Deep (10/5): - The hosts were wonderful and the room had a beautiful view. Clean room and comfortable bed.
- Anand (8/5): - Room was too small
- Michael (10/5): - Exceptional
- Karen (10/5): - Was a great place, a little out of town with parking. Was on the main road which was fine with me. Very hospitable and friendly.
- Daniel (10/5): - Nice and clean place , very good bed and wonderful hosts .
- Elisa (10/5): - Wonderful spot with an amazing view! Immaculate and lovely B&B with the nicest hosts. Truly enjoyed our stay and would love to come back!
- Jean-Noël (10/5): A excellent guest house - Hillview is an excellent guest house along the road leading to Fort William.
The room was fine and recently decorated. It is modern and very clean. The bathroom has every thing you need and it is clean and fresh.
You can park your car right outside the house,
The views over Loch Linnhe are magnificent.
It is very easy to drive to Fort William (about 4 minutes)
Breakfast is vey nice (not a fry up which was most welcome!)
The owners are very friendly and helpful.
- Ginger (4/5): - The en suite bathroom is quite literally in the room. The toilet is in a small closet that looks into the clear glass shower. The clear glass shower is directly into the bedroom - so there was no privacy using the toilet or the shower. The shower was the size of an RV shower and had two temperatures- scalding or freezing. It was miserable.
The view from the front bedroom was spectacular.
Despite a note saying that later check in could be arranged the owner insisted 9 pm was the latest so other guests weren’t disturbed. When I explained that wouldn’t work she said she could not cancel the reservation. So we changed our plans to get there in time. Check in took two minutes and nothing we did would have disturbed anyone.
Breakfast was adequate.
- Demi (10/5): - Great spot just down the road from the main area of fort william. Lovely view and host.
- Madeleine (10/5): - The hosts are lovely (relieved to not have another no interaction self checkin experience), the rooms are comfortable and warm, and it’s a nice quiet space to unwind and enjoy Fort William.
- Joelle (10/5): - We had a lovely time at Hillview Guest House. It’s right across from the Loch and has the most gorgeous views. The rooms were clean and comfortable with a great breakfast offering and gracious hosts. Will come back if we get the chance.
- Geraldine (10/5): - Amazing view and hosts were so lovely
- Ruth (8/5): - Lovely location with glorious view across the Loch to the Highlands. Tastefully decorated, clean, warm and comfortable. Very pleasant hosts.
- Halyna (10/5): - Very friendly staff. The atmosphere is like home.
- kimberly (4/5): - Great hostess. Very helpful. Wonderful breakfast. Twin rooms nice but small.
- Alexander (10/5): - The hosts were friendly and attentive, the bed and room were comfortable, and the view of the loch from the dining room was amazing!
- Verified traveler (10/5): 10/10 - We stayed here having driven up from Devon for the 3 peaks challenge. It was a 10/10 stay. Jane was soooo helpful and accommodating.
The hotel is opposite the most beautiful stretch of water and Ben Nevis is a 10 minute drive up the road. We had a joining room with a shared bathroom between us and it worked perfectly. We were up and out so early the following morning, however, Jane packed us off on our adventure with an on-the-go breakfast- such a lovely touch. Beautiful guest house, great hosts, amazing views! What more could you ask for! We will be back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Possitive Definitely - Great hosts and great hospitality.
Very neat and tidy will definitely visit again if I get a chance
- John (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable. Hosts helpful and friendly. Good food.
- christele (10/5): - Great hosts, room, breakfast and location
- Brett (10/5): - Joe and Jane were fantastic hosts. Very personable, and we enjoyed our chats. Very impressive breakfast spread, and pancakes and bacon on top of everything else. Would absolutely recommend for others, or to stay again ourselves.
- Pam (8/5): - Beautiful situation and lovely hosts with good breakfast.
Our room and ensuite were very small.
- Karen (10/5): - Jane and Joe are fabulous!
The room was very clean.
Delicious breakfast every morning.
Highly recommend staying here.
- Brian (6/5): - Nice view of the Loch and good seating area outside
- Verified traveler (10/5): Ben Nevis Stay - Great stay. Jane and Joe made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend a stay here and we would have no hesitation in doing so if we're ever back in the area but not to climb Ben Nevis again!
- David (10/5): Great place - Really friendly and great location. Nothing was a drama and a great breakfast
- Raymond (10/5): Really nice stay - Excellent accomodation very clean with very nice welcoming owners the views were fantastic and the breakfast was perfect
Thank you for a great couple of days
- Mari (10/5): A lovely weekend stay - We had a fabulous stay at Hill View recently. I’ve never stayed in a guest house as clean and well looked after. The hosts work very hard to deliver an excellent service for guests. A very enjoyable stay and would recommend to others without hesitation.
- kevin (10/5): - Jane and her husband were lovely, made us feel very welcome.

- Jacinta (10/5): - The room was clean warm and cosy. Facilities were available to make hot drinks. It had a great view of the loch and mountain. Breakfast was great including a vegetarian choice. The only downside was the busy road outside the bedroom which was noisy. Overall experience was good.
- Iain (10/5): - Nice no frills hotel. There is a main road and hedges down to the water side. Would recommend
- Jeffrey (10/5): - Great view of the Loch and mountain behind. Friendly host and easy to find, convenient location for Fort William. Room was compact but had all we needed.
- Anthony (10/5): Wonderful place. - Lovely bed and breakfast close to Fort William. Would very much reccommend.
- Elinor (10/5): Amazing find in Fort William - The guest house was fabulous, so clean and the owners so lovely and accommodating, breakfast was amazing so much choice. Views from the guest house are spectacular. Our rooms (a family suite) were super clean and very modern. Would definitely visit again. One tip, if you are walking back after dark from Fort William take a torch the street lights only go so far and it is very dark! Using our phones as a torch helped but a proper torch would have been easier!
- Lesley (10/5): - Comfortable, welcoming, and had everything we needed. Would recommend.
- Christine (10/5): - This property was excellent, the views amazing. Lovely room, everywhere was clean. Breakfast was lovely plenty to choose from hot and cold. The owners were so lovely, so welcoming and couldn't do enough for you. Always on hand if you needed them.
- D (10/5): Very enjoyable stay - Great weather, lovely clean guest house with good breakfasts.Lovely hosts, couldn't be friendlier and more helpful.
- Paula (10/5): - We had a great 2 night stay here.
- Robin (10/5): Exceptional guest house in great location. - Wonderful, welcoming, guest house that was the perfect base for our stay in Fort William and climb of Ben Nevis. Lovely room, great view of the loch and surrounding mountains. Charming host, great breakfast, everything we wanted and more.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Just a few minutes drive from the centre of Fort William, with amazing views across the loch, Hillview was a perfect base for my daughter and I to explore the west highlands for a few days. We received a friendly welcome, the rooms are clean and adequately furnished. Breakfast is pre ordered the night before (if you want anything cooked) with fruit, cereals and toast, and is great.
In summary, Hillview is a small, friendly place to stopover and explore this amazing part of Scotland. Recommended.
- Jade (10/5): Couldn’t ask for more - Firstly the location of the property is beautiful, views onto to loch and mountain scenery are something else. Even better you get these views from the rooms and in the breakfast room. The rest of the house is wonderfully clean and tidy and filled with fresh flowers.
The spacious bedrooms are decorated beautifully and have a real homely touch to them. You have all you need in the room, from hot drinks, usb points, shampoo/conditioner, television, hairdryer and fluffy white towels.
The breakfast was fantastically made which include hot foods, as well as a help yourself to cereals, juices, pastry’s etc. The breakfast tables were set and decorated with little fresh flowers for an extra touch.
Last but not least Jane and Joe, a wonderful couple who couldn’t do enough for us. It is very obvious how much care and and how much detail they put into their guesthouse. I wouldn’t recommend anyone or anywhere else! Thank you
And don’t forget to book direct!
- Joanne (10/5): A little gem - Accommodation was clean, modern and comfortable. Jane and joe made us feel very welcome and the breakfast was fab. They accomodated our early start on the Saturday morning and nothing was too much trouble. The view from our bedroom was priceless. Would definitely recommend staying at this place as you won’t be disappointed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The owners were very accommodating, making us feel welcome. The breakfast was lovely with a good choice each morning. Our room was clean and towels were changed daily and bed made each morning. Very enjoyable stay. Would definitely recommend!
- Alice (10/5): Good 1 night stay - Clean bathroom and room with an amazing view.
The host was really nice and welcoming although we arrived bit late (around 9pm)
Free parking and breakfast.
- John (2/5): Poor - No WiFi in the rooms which was advertised with WiFi in rooms, booked this place as needed to work on an evening with WiFi connection. Not happy
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful view from guest house - worth the money

- Adrian (10/5): Superb guest house, great location+incredible hosts - Absolutely fantastic stay. Great location and walking distance in to the town.
Warm welcoming knowledgeable hosts who serve a excellent breakfast.
The room was superb with incredible views.
We will be sure to stay here next time we are in the area.
Highly recommend to others wanting nearby location to Fort William town / Ben Nevis.
- Robert (10/5): Breathtaking view and wonderful hosts! - Lovely place with a breathtaking view! Delicious breakfast and very welcome atmosphere. Wonderful hosts!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Quaint B&B, small cozy rooms. We stayed in room 6 which had great view over loch, but a very small en suite with toilet quite close to bed and shower opening into the room which was a quirky layout that may not be for all. Basic amenities. Biggest disappointment was the breakfast. We had bacon amd pancakes and was really poor. Tastless and dry. The other options didn't lool to appetising either. So we skipped breakfast for the remaining days. A shsme considering the price paid for the rooms.
- VI (10/5): Nice Gem in Fort William - Amazing stay. Beautiful view from window. Comfortable bed, nice room. Great hosts.Lovely spot in Fort William.
Would stay here again.
- Mike (10/5): - Superb location, all the comforts of home, location close to town centre, very accommodating
- Adam (10/5): Amazing views and rooms - Never stayed in such an immaculately clean place, lovely. Had a view of the loch. Very friendly host who also gave us a breakfast tray as we didn’t want to cooked breakfast. Check out was at 10am which seems to be the standard for most b and bs but would be great if it was just an hour later and breakfast was available a bit later (more of a general B and B feedback than specific to this one!). I would 100% stay here again, very cozy and warm which is what we needed after being out in the rain all day!
- john (10/5): - Most enjoyable the couple couldn’t do enough for us and the English breakfast was good
- Mireille (10/5): Hillview Guest House : One to recommend - I had a brilliant stay at the Hillview guest house ! Joe and Jane are ever so friendly and welcoming.
The house is beautiful with an amazing view on the Loch.
Great breakfast and chilled atmosphere. I am planning on being back :)

- Chloe (10/5): - Jane and Joe were both so lovely and accommodating from the moment we set foot in their guest house. The house is beautifully furnished and kept immaculate at all times. There are a wide choice of breakfast options, which were all enjoyable. We will definitely be returning here in the future.

- John D (6/5): - The room was extremely small, the twin beds were hard and the pillows were flat and the shower is strictly standing room only.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fabulous host with great local knowledge and willing to share. Great breakfast!
- dk (8/5): - Located just outside fort william nice view of the lake from the room. Free parking out front. Large nice breakfast. Comfortable beds. Shower temperature kept changing between feeezing cold and burning hot. Would only have a few seconds when it would be the right temperature as it was cycling...
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly proprietor, lovely clean comfortable room with a beautiful view out over the loch. Breakfast was delicious. Good location on the outskirts of Fort William.
