- Christoph (8/5): Prima Ausgangspunkt um Auckland zu besuchen - Nah zur Fähre. Das Haus repräsentiert den Charme des Seebad Devonport. Alles da was man braucht. Heizlüfter hat uns sehr gefallen, es wird Nachts schon kühl.
- Carsten (9/5): - Sehr freundlicher Empfang und Betreuung durch das Inhaberehepaar. Sehr schönes Zimmer mit sensationellen Badbereich. Die Lage war sehr gut, um Devenport zu erkunden und die Fähren nach Auckland und den vorgelagerten Inseln zu erreichen. Unser Zimmer war direkt rechts neben der Eingangstür und zur Straßenseite hin. Die Straßenverkehr war leider deutlich zu vernehmen.

- Howard (9/5): Great place to stay! - Wonderful heritage building, nicely updated to be well equipped and thoughtfully redesigned. David is a laid back and great host who has been endlessly helpful during the difficult Middle East flight cancellations. Nothing of note.

- Cybele (9/5): - The bedding was extraordinarly comfortable. My bathroom was gigantic. I even had a small balcony! The area upstairs was very cute. It’s not something I didn't like, just something I have to tell you. The stairs are rather narrow as it is an old house, so pack your bags accordingly.

The surrounds are scenic and the location is great, only a short walk from the main street in Devonport and the ferry to Auckland. The bathroom was huge and luxurious, and the bedroom was comfortable. The owners were friendly and helpful when you needed something. The pillows on the bed were very thin and you had to leave the room and go to the shared kitchen to make tea/coffee/breakfast. On the bottom floor, you can hear the people above you walking around. The initial message you get after booking is the only communication you receive if you don't reach out, so if you book far enough out, it's easy to forget (and some of the information was outdated, e.g. recommendation for a restaurant that no longer exists).

- Elizabeth (10/5): Great location and very lush accommodation! - Love the location. To be able to walk to shops and the many restaurants in Devonport was definitely a perk of staying here. The bathroom was large and opulent as was the bedroom of course. Although we didn’t use the shared lounge that space was also well equipped. The views of the city & bridge from the balcony were lovely and it was nice to have an outdoor space to enjoy. We dined at 2 of the restaurants recommended by the hosts and they were both amazing. Bueno Sera was the best Italian we’ve had in a long time with prompt and friendly service. We also really enjoyed dinner at Signal Hill. Baked @ Devonport did the most amazing pastries & coffee that we went there for breakfast both mornings. Would recommend if you are looking for somewhere to base yourself with both Auckland and Waiheke Island a ferry ride away.

Un salon pour les invités avec un excellent café Notre hôte nous a donné de très bons conseils pour les restaurants Comme souvent dans ce type de maison, le bruit de l'étage peut gêner dans la chambre 5 en rez de chaussée. Bien très fluide, la communication avec nos hôtes s'est faite exclusivement par messages .Nous ne les avons pas rencontrés durant les deux jours de séjour, alors qu'ils étaient sur place.

Lovely historic house. No screens on windows ! Not sure why NZ ers omit this. Had to close windows at night as I am allergic to bug bites. Was a hot time of year and no air con. There was a fan :-)

Cool balcony/view of the city and extremely clean and comfortable. Easy check in, homely inviting feel. Short walk to ferry into the city No instant coffee but that’s all just preference as there was a lovely coffee machine to use.

Would highly recommend if you wanted to visit the Auckland area but we're not keen on staying in the city, Devonport is ideally located just a short ferry trip away.

The house, lounge, and rooms are all well-presented, and the spacious luxury bathroom was a real highlight. Check-in and check-out were easy, and the owners were lovely—friendly, helpful, and full of great local recommendations. The location worked perfectly for us, being close to friends we were visiting, and also offering a pleasant walk to the main street for coffee, groceries, and cafes, as well as convenient access to the ferry. The only downside of our stay was the beds, which we found very uncomfortable. This did take away from the otherwise relaxing and cosy experience of the property.

Easy access to Cheltenham Beach and short walk to the ferry to Auckland. Our room was beautiful, full of character and very comfortable. Highly recommend.

Lots of cafes and restaurants within walking distance. Quaint Victorian building, with high ceilings and lots of original features. Great second-floor veranda to relax and enjoy the view of Auckland’s skyline. View of an old church and cemetery (!!) from bedroom window. Bedroom had all we needed. Modernized bathroom. Common area with coffee machine.

- Janis (10/5): A perfect location in a lovely, clean, updated property. Friendly welcome. - This is a very nice guest house with a welcome feel to it. Having a good coffee maker in the gathering room was great. We appreciated having a fridge to store the things we had with us. David gave us great advice and information and was very friendly. We were there 3 nights and all went very well. The town is lovely with nice cafe's and eateries. We could walk to everything including the ferry port. Parking was always available on street in front of the gate. We would be happy to stay there again. The bathroom was beautiful.

- Nicola (10/5): Very comfortable stay in a charming location - We spent our first two nights in New Zealand at Andelin and our holiday could not have got off to a better start. The guest house, like Devonport itself, is charming. Our room was spacious and extremely comfortable. The host is very friendly and gave us some excellent tips on what to do in the surrounding area as well as where to stop on our next drive up to Paihia. There was lots to see and do in the immediate area and Devonport has some excellent restaurants. We also took the ferry across to Auckland, which was a totally different but also pleasant experience. It was all very good.

It was very comfortable and our host David was enjoyable company and very helpful. Although this property is not a B & B, there is a common dining table, upscale coffee machine and a refrigerator that allows for some breakfast preparation. We can’t complain about anything.

Close proximity to Devonport village so we'll within a short walking distance. Hosts and other guests where very friendly which was nice. I hadn't thought about the number of stairs to get to my room. I have dodgy knees so had to be careful navigating stairs, plus staircase was a bit narrow for getting my very bid suitcase up the stairs. The kitchenette had a small fridge and didn't have a tap and sink so could prepare and food. Had to eat out or get takeaways.

- Dione (8/5): We enjoyed our stay there. It was everything that we required and we would go back there again. - The location was great. It was nice to be able to walk into Devonport for meals and shops. The rooms were big enough and the bathrooms were huge. The owners were very friendly, and I quite liked having a shared dining room as it gave us the chance to meet with others using the house. I also liked the water cooler/heater, as it was very handy having the option of cold or hot water instantly. There was no sink in the shared dining room and so no way to wipe up spills. It would also have been nice to have a tray to put the dirty dishes on, as it seemed not right to leave them on the table. We also couldn't figure out how to get the coffee machine to make a nice coffee. I liked the bathroom, but I didn't like the cool white lights as they kept flickering and were hard on the eyes. Warm white would have been better. I also would have liked off road parking.
- Scott (8/5): Very good - Close to Devonport village and ferry terminal, neat old house. No facilities to clean dishes. Great that hosts came and cleared dirty ones away to be cleaned but it didn’t feel right to not clean our own after use.
- Stephen (10/5): Location, accommodation and host responsiveness were first class. - Great location, easy walk to Devonport village or Cheltenham Beach. Large well appointed room and ensuite, with lovely views over to Auckland city. Quality linen and lovely pillows. An adjoining guest lounge with tea and coffee facilities, plus microwave was a welcome bonus. The hosts were very accommodating in our request for early access. No negatives

- Jacqueline (10/5): Best Location - The location is ideal for exploring this historical area - excellent dining options, shopping, and recreational access. We enjoyed a daily walk up Mt. Victoria to enjoy the views of the city and sea. The room is quite comfortable and hot coffee/tea is always available. The hosts are very welcoming and had excellent recommendations to suit our interests. Not applicable.
- Debra (9/5): Superb - We loved the location. It was close to Devonport Village so we could walk everywhere and catch the ferry into Auckland city. When we arrived we were greeted by David who carried our bags up to our room and gave us more information on the area etc. We had already received an informative email from his wife Tracy about places to eat etc. Parking was a breeze, there is free on street parking outside the house. The room was beautifully presented. Loved their pillows., wish I could of taken one away.. If you want a place that is welcoming, close to the Devonport village and easy access to Auckland City this via the ferry this is it.
- John (10/5): Lovely house in great location. - Excellent location near the village, walks and beach. The room and facilities are first class. Nothing except some road noise, also it might be cold in winter but fine during our stay.
- Steven (7/5): We thought for a guesthouse it was unfriendly. - The location was very good as it is near shops, bars and restaurants. Also the ferry crossing is just at the bottom of the road Disappointed not to meet the owners that were on site but had to ring them on issues. There was a drinks station at the top of the stairs and fridge but could not find cutlery until day we were leaving as the drawers were very hard to locate with no handles. It is on a main road which is not noticeable on the photos. The outside balcony furniture could have been cleaner. There is a view of the city and we sat out on the balcony but the table was all dusty.

- Grant (9/5): A lovely last place to stay in New Zealand - We were met by the owner on arrival, very friendly and took bags to room (also carried them when we departed). Room was lovely with great views and a fantastic bathroom. Veranda with table and chairs outside room to look out at views and a lovely residents lounge with dining table for breakfast/relaxing. We chatted to dave (owner) on a number of occasions and he was always interested in what we had done/planned to do. Location was fantastic an easy walk into the town and great recommendations for eateries. A lovely experience. Nothing!

- Heather (9/5): A characterful period hotel, well placed for exploring all lovely Devonport has on offer. - Great location, within easy walking distance of shops, cafes, eateries and ferry. Very easy self check in. Clean, stylish room, with super comfortable bed. Extra large shower with good pressure. Good free wifi. Guests share a communal, well-supplied tea and coffee area with fridge and dining table. Having an upstairs room with a verandah and city views was a bonus. Friendly host with good communication. The hotel is on a fairly busy road, so traffic noise is audible.
