Guest Reviews
- Judith Rebecca (10/5): - I cannot recommend highly enough. Gracious and accommodating hosts and beautiful breakfast every morning in the courtyard. Location is central and very walkable.
- J F (10/5): Great stay, briljant hosts!
- Peter (10/5): - Pedro and Maria are gracious hosts and will go out of their way to help plan a perfect itinerary of what to see if you don’t have specific plans. They are terrific.
- Alejandra Garcia (10/5): - I think is the best place to stay. Pedro looked after us every morning with during the breakfast. He gave us all tha information for the day and asked about the day before. He was really amazing. And the house was wonderful. Everything comfortable and beautiful. Don't miss if you go to Ponta Delgada
- Davin (8/5): - The owners are friendly and very helpful, and the place has good character. The hyper-local breakfast offering was excellent and downtown is just a short walk away.
- Katharina Anna (10/5): - It was a pleasure to stay here, Piedro and Maria were very kind hosts. The Hotel was very nice with a great breakfast. We got a lot of recommendations about trips around the island.
- Gloria (10/5): - The location was perfect. Minutes of walking to downtown area restaurants and shops. There is a paid lot right next to the townhouse and another free lot a few streets away, very convenient for parking. Pedro was nice and accommodating, and his artwork throughout the townhouse is a extra plus for our stay.
- Andres (10/5): Best B&B I have ever stayed in - This is the perfect best and breakfast. Everything from the hosts Pedro and Maria and the attention to detail. Location is perfect and breaks fast is delicious. Pedro’s recommendations for your day are very valuable and he gives you maps. Now I will mention something’s so you make an informed decision. These are personal experiences and you may experience them differently. 1) the floor is wooden and we could hear the guests walk up the stairs. We could also hear conversations from the neighboring room and also when they walked due to the creaking of the wood. So if you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs. 2) they have a lovely Labrador so if you do not like dogs… I think you can tell the owners and put him away. 3) No tv in the room. No problem for me but it may be for you. Again, my stay was a 10/10 and I recommend this hotel 100%. Just mind that if you have loud neighbors or kids, you may not have a great time.
- Marcio (10/5): - Wonderful host. Pedro and Toninha are friendly and showed amazing hospitality. My wife and I really enjoyed staying in his hotel, and looking forward to returning soon. Thanks, Pedro.
- Chelsey (10/5): - What a wonderful place to stay, it felt like home. Pedro and Maria were wonderful hosts, eager to help us explore their beautiful island. Every morning as we enjoyed their island breakfast, Pedro would ask our plans for the day and then proceeded to reach into his handy folder and find a map for the region with sites to see and restaurant recommendations. The location was convenient to get in and out of the city, quiet and a simple walk to a variety of restaurants and sites. We had a wonderful time!
- mar (10/5): - Great stay with wonderful hosts who shared lote of tips with me. Perfect for solo female travelers. Parking nearby for free, nice breakfast and spacious rooms.
- Tania (10/5): - I had a wonderful stay at Casa da Cidade. The property is perfectly located and very clean. The breakfast every morning was locally sourced and a wonderful way to start each day. The hosts are very gracious and help with planning your day or making suggestions on things to see. I would have missed these incredible stops, had it not been suggested to me. Hightly recommend.
- Elly (10/5): - Great place to stay in Ponta Delgada. The hotel is located in a very convenient place close to the downtown area. Many restaurant options within walking distance. The couple that runs the hotel are very personable and friendly. They offer great travel and restaurant recommendations. You should speak with them before going out everyday. They make their own jams for the breakfast as well which was delicious.
- freitas dinis (10/5): - 1 semaine parfaite.
- Susan (10/5): - Pedro was a superb host. His guesthouse is a great place with a great story and was only minutes away, walking distance, from my conference location. It is also an easy walk into city center. Pedro saw to all our needs, served a wonderful breakfast and even booked a taxi for our return to the airport. We only had a small problem with the door lock sticking when no one else was home, but it all worked out. If you enjoy meeting new people and want a feel for the local living, be sure to book your stay with Pedro.
- Erlin (10/5): - This B&B is a hidden gem on the island. Excellent location (downtown) made walking to the harbour effortless. Close to many restaurants and sites. Pedro and Maria (and Trinkish......spelling?)...Pedro's best friend) were great hosts. Could not have asked for anything better. Every morning during breakfast, Pedro would provide my wife and I a detailed (thumbnailed) map of the island by region (N, S, W and E) on places to visit and restaurants to eat at. The B&B is quite cozy. No TV, but who needs one when on vacation. The only item missing was a mini fridge in the room, however, one could use one if needed in the main kitchen. The only sad thing on our stay was flying/leaving the island.
- Stephen (10/5): - We had a great stay here. Pedro is very friendly and very knowledgeable about the area and was very helpful for planning our days exploring the island. Daily breakfast of local Azorean foods was excellent! Highly recommend 5/5
Herzlichen Dank!!!
- Yin (10/5): - Amazing host! A lot of local recommendations. Great breakfasts!
Cama e celente y grande. Buena zona para aparcar.
- andrew (10/5): Hotels.com provides inaccurate information. - Hotels.com does not publish accurate information - this cost me $49, because the owner charged me 45 Euros for two persons, but the information sent to me says the base cost is for two persons. Please send me a check or credit me with $49 USD.
- Lars (10/5): Excellent hosts, great hospitality - Beautiful town house, where the owners walk the extra mile to give their guests the best possible stay. Exquisite breakfast made exclusively with local products. Very helpful hosts offering a lot of very good advise and insight tips. If choosing the room with balcony facing the street be aware there is some noise from the street.
- Renee (10/5): - Pedro was wonderful. A great asset to staying in his home as he knows the area well and makes great suggestions, not only to restaurants, but to areas of the island that would be good to visit each day. We really enjoyed our stay at his Casa!
- Silvia (10/5): - We arrived on January 1, 2023 and stayed 3 nights in the “Flores” room, which was spotless and spacious and very comfortable. Dom Pedro was unfailingly gracious and he provided us with helpful maps and recommendations. The full and delicious breakfasts at Casa da Cidade were one of the best things about Ponta Delgada!
- Doug (10/5): - This is an excellent place to stay, especially for a first-time visitor to Ponta Delgada. It is a Bed and Breakfast with a very homey feel. The owner is extremely gracious and provides visitors with an initial orientation to the attractions and restaurants around town. He is also a professional photographer and has published books with amazing photographs of Sao Miguel Island and a local botanical garden (Jardim Antonio Borges) in Ponta Delgada. He is very willing to share the depth of his knowledge with guests if they express and interest.
- Emilia (10/5): - Perfect place to stay in Ponta Delgada ❤️ Lovely house very well located, great host (don Pedro), delicious breakfast, nice room with private bathroom….you just feel at home !! We really enjoyed our stay at this casa and if we ever go back, we will definitely stay there again ! Don Pedro also assisted us with tours and taxi arrangements, he was there to make sure all was perfect !! Thanks for your hospitality !!
- Rachel (10/5): - Great amenities, breakfast, location, and Pedro as host of this 4-room bed and breakfast/hotel. I highly recommend it. If possible, I suggest getting a room that faces the garden rather than the street. When windows are open, the street can be noisy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The best part of our stay was how wonderful Pedro is as a host. When we checked-in he provided maps that he made himself with restaurant and sightseeing information. Thanks to his recommendations, we had fantastic meals in Ponta Delgada and in Mosteiros. We also really enjoyed the breakfast which included fresh fruit, bread (including bolo levedo - so delicious!), home-made jams, yogurt, and different local butter and cheeses.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great Location near everything and Pedro is a great host
- SueB (10/5): - A great place to stay! Centrally located in Ponta Delgada, choosing this charming bed and breakfast made our trip. Pedro and Maria are welcoming and ever so helpful. Their dining recommendations were all delicious as was the locally sourced breakfast each morning. After breakfast they arm you maps and tips about the part of the island you are tackling that day. I highly recommend Casa da Cidade and would definitely choose it again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay in central Punta Delgada - Staying at Casa da Cidade was like staying with family (more specifically, with a slightly quirky and highly cultured and sophisticated uncle). Pedro, the owner, is an excellent host and is like a walking tourist information board. His B&B is a true labour of love. The breakfast buffet features only the best Azorean products, and he personally samples all the restaurants in his extensive list of recommendations (all of which were fantastic). Overall, a great stay.
- Jean-Pierre (10/5): - Excellent accueil.
- Jan (10/5): Toppenvistelse i Ponta Delgada - Fantastiskt litet guesthouse centralt i Ponta Delgada.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The owners are passionate about the Azores! They are so friendly and helpful. The owner created detailed maps of restaurants and sites in the city that make it very easy for guests to know where to go. The home is beautifully decorated with large, gorgeous photos and unique artwork. Breakfast is delicious and generous with foods from the Azores! We ate in the little garden area outside, which was sweet. Our bedroom was immaculate and we loved the city sounds from the large windows! The home has a unique historic feel to it, yet it is comfortable and cozy and updated with everything you need. The most special thing about this home is that you have the privacy and service you need, but the owners are so warm and inviting and knowledgeable about the area. We had lots of questions about the history of the home and enjoyed hearing all about it at breakfast. I took many pics of the room, the beautiful staircase, the tile entryway, and the large wooden doors and windows, but I can’t capture the feeling of the beautiful place in pictures. LOVELY PLACE!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Our room was quiet, with a king sized bed and a single for our daughter. Breakfast was especially nice, all fresh Azorean products.
- JohnB (10/5): - Cannot recommend Casa da Cidade enough.
The hosts, Maria and Pedro, are so lovely! Both were eager to help with advice on things to do or where to eat (proprietary maps included!). Breakfast conversation with the two of them made our morning. They really seem to enjoy hosting people from all over the world and all walks of life.
The room was sparkling clean, spacious, and had two stunning floor-to-near-ceiling windows, perfect for stargazing in bed.
The locale is ideal — in the heart of Ponta Delgada, a block from a verdant local park and the city library.
Stay here. You won’t regret it.
- Jenna (10/5): Great Base in Sao Miguel - Pedro and Maria were great hosts and so helpful for planning our days, with maps of cultural and natural locations, as well as restaurants. The breakfast every day was great (served from ~0830-1100) and full of local products. The room itself was beautifully decorated, with family furniture and Pedro's photography, just like the rest of the house. Towels for the hot springs and a hair dryer were provided, and we had no issues with the free wifi.
- Janet (10/5): Ponta delgada - Our stay was wonderful. The location was close to everything and yet quiet in the evenings. Pedro was so helpful in providing information on local restaurants and points of interest. The room, breakfast and bed were superb. Thank you for a fantastic first trip to the Azores.
- Ron&Christine (10/5): - Excellent stay. The hotel is a very attractive and extremely comfortable place to stay - we thoroughly enjoyed our ten days. We had room with a street view - it was very quiet, especially at night. Room was nicely appointed with antique bed - ceiling must be 20 feet plus giving the room an airy, spacious feel. Very clean and well maintained daily.
The hotel is only a few blocks from the town center. There is a small patio and garden area for sitting out and having a glass of wine if the weather is nice.
Maria and Pedro were gracious hosts. They provided recommendations on great restaurants and cafes as well as places to visit. We chose not to rent a car and Pedro was able to arrange a driver to take us around the island.
Highly recommended!

- Ovidiu (10/5): - Great atmosphere, newly refurbished building retaining the elegance of the old world. Fantastic breakfast featuring only local fruit, cheese and other delicious specialties. Beautiful garden in the back. Convenient to restaurants, museums and the main square (5 min. walk). The hosts are amazing, ready with several maps and other advice, great conversation at breakfast, lots of laughs and super friendly. Beautifully decorated with original photos of nature.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel, easy access to city - Very comfortable beds. Great photos and decor. Owners offer personalized maps and suggestions for activities. Local breakfast that was delicious. Felt like you were living in Sao Miguel!
