Guest Reviews
- Mitchell (10/5): -
- Ian (8/5): - Plenty of parking
Clean room, comfy bed,
good food served down in pub Nothing
- Paul (6/5): - Staff were good. Location was excellent. Bed needed replacement.
- Jane (7/5): - Staff were lovely. Our room was up and down a few hallways. It was clean and functional.
- Sandra (10/5): EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS! - The staff went above & beyond!
- Jocelyn (7/5): -
- Martin (6/5): -
- Samantha (6/5): - The beds were comfy and it was clean. It was very cold - the heater in the room didn’t work properly. The towel rail wasn’t powerful enough. The whole place didn’t feel very welcoming - we were never offered breakfast. I didn’t see anyone apart from the day we arrived and then hunted for someone the morning we left to give the key to. The towels were old and stained and not really big enough. We only had one tiny bottle of shower gel left in the room for the three days we were there for two guests. I don’t feel this was worth what we paid - worth more like £60 per night with no breakfast.
- Hayley (10/5): Friendly Welcoming Hotel - Friendly hotel, clean room, fabulous breakfast and really friendly staff. The hotel has a bar area with welcoming locals. Nothing
- Sandra (10/5): Wish all were as good! - Eight of our staff stayed for work purposes. Food was exceptional, best they've had to date and the staff/landlord extremely accommodating! No complaints!
- Karine (9/5): Parfait - Gentillesse du personnel, les repas et la propreté de la chambre En amélioration Peut être une lumière au dessus du miroir de la salle de bain
- Steve (6/5): Nice hotel, but other guests can be let it down - Staff member at breakfast was friendly and attenuative. Bed was quite comfortable. Very noisy throughout the night with banging doors and shouting
- Fiona (7/5): A pleasant stay in Kerriemuir - Breakfast was decent and the person serving was very accommodating. I had gone down at 8.20 for breakfast and the staff member on breakfast serving hadnt realised there were any guests still remaining for breakfast. The staff member quickly arranged tea, toast, fruit juice etc whilst cooking the breakfast. There was no hairdryer in the room. This is the first hotel I have stayed in that this has been the case. I travel regularly for work and was surprised there was no hairdryer.
- Louise (8/5): - A separate reception would be good
- Steven (10/5): Beautiful clean friendly hotel I. The heart of Kirriemuir - Friendly staff. Very clean and room 6 which is a family room was excellent. Great breakfast Nothing.
- Andy (10/5): very good stay very nice staff - Very good choice at breakfast, food good all round and great value for money.
Good location with ample parking nothing really
- Laura (10/5): -
- KW19 (9/5): - Lovely big room, comfy bed. Friendly and helpful staff. Lively bar, with welcoming locals. Will definitely be back
- Leona (5/5): Nice and handy for the gig I was attending - The staff were welcoming. The rooms were clean but basic When I got out my car in the hotel car park, there were a pair of gents underpants which was… weird!
- Steve (9/5): Good location and value for money. - Handy location for visiting Glamis Castle. Good Bar. Can be noisy at weekends as patrons leave other licensed premises on the street.
- Margaret (9/5): Really lovely hotel highly recommend - Fantastic location, rooms were clean and staff were really helpful when we arrived early and needed to get changed for a wedding we were heading off to as arrived before check in time. Nothing
- Billy (9/5): -
- Pauline (10/5): -
- Anderson (10/5): - Staff were amazing
- Linda (4/5): - Staff Room cold and not clean
- Russ (9/5): Adequate accomodation for what was needed. - Friendly staff and a good pint
- David (5/5): It was ok - N/A
- Laszlo (10/5): -
- Steven (10/5): -
- Gavin (4/5): Room basic and dated. Wouldn’t stay again. - Good bar food. Bar staff and breakfast staff friendly. Atmosphere in bar uncomfortable due to group of noisy (and swearing) regulars making it feel like a private party.
- jackie (10/5): - The staff were really lovely and helpful with you and a really good and friendly bar staff , our meal was very good and our breakfast to we will be back
- Kimberley (10/5): - Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, locallers were all lovely and
- Edith (10/5): -
- Lyn (7/5): Met our needs. - Comfortable beds and soft sheets. On a busy road. Though this wasn’t too bad, there was a loose manhole cover and every time a vehicle went over it there was a loud noise.
- Bonita (10/5): Wir waren dort für zwei Nächte und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt! - Netter Empfang, nettes Personal und sympathischer Chef. Sehr gutes Abendessen, gut sortierte Bar.
- Margaret (10/5): - Location was great.central with easy access to public transport.hotel was spotless.staff friendly especially in downstairs bar.food was excellent and reasonably priced . Nothing

- Gasparri (8/5): -
- Sandra (5/5): - Hotel really dated and basic. Food really good.
- Kay (9/5): We enjoyed staying there as the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Great stay we will come back again - Very friendly staff. Centrally situated so don’t have to walk too far to anything. Just a really lovely wee hotel . Nothing. Everything was fine.
- Ken (10/5): Would book again in the future. - Location for the festival. Nothing.
- Maj (8/5): -
- Thomson (8/5): Lovely. - Lovely room. Good food and good beer.
- Jean-Yves (8/5): - Chambre grande, hôtel très bien situé et personnels sympas. Le restaurant de l hôtel est très basique....
- daniel (8/5): -
- m elspeth (7/5): - Convenient location.Good off street parking. Noisy room on main street with a clanky manhole outside.Food bland.
- Janine (8/5): - Das Frühstück war sehr individuell und liebevoll, das hotel ebenso sehr familiär und herzlich. Das Qualität des Bettes war leider sehr schlecht.
- Norman (7/5): The staff are friendly and helpful. The bar is large and lively. A decent place at a good price - This is a traditional hotel in the centre of the town. Breakfast is very good and comes quickly. Our room faced the street which could be noisy with traffic in the early morning and late at night. We are used to a very quiet environment at home.
- Lucie (10/5): -
- finch (10/5): - Beautiful building and lovely staff, will be back! Nothing, all good!
- michael (7/5): Good basic Hotel in good location and the staff very friendly. - We just had a light breakfast which was ok Bed was not that comfortable and the duvets were far too small on the twin beds, they would be fine for children but not large enough for grown adults.
- Kevin (10/5): - Used as a base for visiting family. N/A
- Sue (9/5): -
- Luis (9/5): -
- DAVID (7/5): -
- Kev (10/5): -
- Lotta (3/5): - Friendly staff, uncomplicated check in, but.. Very, very noisy kitchen fan and/or washing machine or something like that, keeping me up until 2 am. It varied in intensity but the noise reminded me of the ferry engine. Maybe this does not apply to all the rooms, so beware of NR. 8.
And the kitchen fan does not even seem to work properly, at about 8am an intense smell of frying waffted trough the whole house. Also we heard every word and movement from the adjoining room.
The carpets seemed not to clean, the whole outfit needs some work. I can't understand how this place can get such a good score
- Anke (10/5): -
- Stephen (9/5): Cute little pub - Nice pub, staff super friendly, room basic but fine, food was lovely The shower wouldn't get warm in the morning for some reason.
- alister (4/5): - It had a car park, nice breakfast Poor value for money, small room and uncomfortable beds.
- Erwan (7/5): -
- Eleanor (7/5): Basic but adequate accommodation - Convenient location for a wedding nearby No soap provided for handwashing
- Diane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lianne (10/5): Irelands review - Friendly staff, always happy to help, quick check in, great food service , comfortable beds, spacious rooms . Nothing
- Alethea (5/5): Room was comfortable but noisey once the bar was in full swing. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Staff were - Lovely hotel, staff were really friendly and room was clean and breakfast was excellent and good value for money. Our room was directly above the bar which didn’t close until 1am. When we got back at 10pm the bass was thumping through floor till midnight and we could hear every person who was nipping out for a smoke from the bar as the windows didn’t seem to block out any noise.
- Elaine (8/5): Comfortable hotel room, with all the essential facilities required, at a reasonable price. - Good location for my needs. All staff were welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was good quality.
- Linda (10/5): Spot on - Staff very friendly and polite
- Vanessa (7/5): Nice hotel, great staff. Take a fan if you’re staying in warm weather - Lovely staff, very welcoming. Comfortable beds, nice clean bathroom. Outdoor garden was nice to sit in and have a glass of wine Breakfast ended at 09:30, which was a bit early for my taste. The room only had 1 window that barely opened, so it stayed warm at night which made it a bit uncomfortable when trying to sleep. However, it was very warm for Scotland so this won’t be a problem most of the year.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Euan (7/5): Good -
- Gardner (8/5): Very good - Good WiFi, private parking & good food
- Maxine (5/5): Passable - The room The noise of people swearing in the street after midnight worse from drink
- Ailsa (9/5): Good location - Good location, friendly, helpful staff. Room was a bit on the small side.
- Belinda (8/5): Great location and lovely staff - Very central and above a lovely pub Convenient and comfortable
- Morven (7/5): Pleasant country hotel - Nicely sized room which was very clean. Comfy bed. Had amenities like a tv, hairdryer etc Not great acoustics so can hear street noise/ other rooms closing doors etc
- Pamela (9/5): Superb - great host
- Rowell (10/5): Exceptional - Traditional town centre hotel. Very well run. Friendly welcoming helpful staff. Great bar. Nice wee snug for residents.Great food, pub grub style but very tasty and big helpings. In a good location. Big car park for residents. Great area, for exploring the Angus glens also for birdwatching.
The town is famous for JM Barrie, author of Peter Pan.The hotel has a subtle JM Barrie theme.
- James (9/5): Location is good for exploring the Angus Glens - Nice friendly hotel
- Gerard (7/5): Nice stay - Good location with nice bar Rooms are small but still good value.
- Alice (8/5): Very good -
- Lynette (10/5): Exceptional - Very helpful staff, parking onsite, very clean and great location. N/A
- Alan (5/5): Passable -
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Toni (10/5): Just stayed there because my father was born in kirrie Muir - Excellent
- Elma (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was really good and friendly staff Step up to the shower and no shower mat in room
- Mahdi (7/5): Generally is good - The hotel is located in an appropriate place, near the main shops and the street. Actually, the hotel was so clean, as well as parking. The parking was so essential in that area Actually, I paid too much for the hotel and I expected the room to have at least a coffee. Another unacceptable point was lack of fridge in our room
- Adam (8/5): nice pub with friendly staff ... - very nice pub good food rooms ok would stay here again
- Richard (9/5): Very friendly staff and great food - The food in the bar and the breakfast were exellent Nothing
- Christine (10/5): A first class holiday in Thrums - I was welcomed, the staff were very friendly and helpful. My room smelled lovely and was really clean and smart. It was a beautiful location in a nice town. It was also handy with venues and the bus stop. I would definitely recommend it and hope to return. Nothing. It was all impressive but I would have liked a bath.
- Frances (6/5): Thrums hotel stay. - central location, friendly staff, good pint and nice evening meal. Hotel a bit dated.
- Joyce (2/5): Never to be repeated. I would like a partial reduction. - Nothing to like. Breakfast. Facilities in room - Hole in carpet. One small piece of a hairdryer only. Stairs and lighting in upstairs corridors. a hazard as pitch black until halfway when automatic lights came on. An accident waiting to happen. No Reception area as such just the bar. Access locked in the morning..
We stayed in Sterling the previous evening for the same price which could not be faulted.
- Leslie (9/5): Comfort in Kirrie. - Friendly, comfortable hotel. Excellent evening meal and breakfast. Central to Kirriemuir.
Would definitely stay there again. Would have liked note about wi-fi password in the room, though was told password when I asked.
This is a very minor point - but one which I am sure most people would want to know.
- Chara (8/5): very comfortable and convenient, good cooked breakfast with friendly staff. - breakfast was good, catering well for vegetarian and gluten/ dairy free requirements. The location was very convenient for our needs. A plug in the bath would be good so a shower wasn't the only option. A light next to all the beds would also have been more convenient.
- Linda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carol (8/5): Comfortable historic hotel - Comfy bed. Historic building. Super clean bedroom and bathroom. Friendly staff. Decent breakfast. Blind let in glare from street lamp opposite.
- Christine (4/5): Disappointing - Could do with being refurbished. Lick of paint wouldn't go amiss
- Natasha (9/5): Superb -
- Valerie (9/5): Superb - Nice hotel and good, clean, comfortable room. Good breakfast. Friendly staff
- Michal (10/5): Exceptional - very nice service, great breakfast,
