Guest Reviews
- Kilkennycastlcomer (8/5): Howdy Cowboys ! - Room was nice , good shower and comfy bed. We enjoyed are burgers and breakfast was nice đ
- katiedY9655TW (10/5): The Good, The Definitely-Not-Bad and The Actually-Quite-Lovely - The Smith & Western at Tunbridge Wells has great atmosphere. The decor follows a great theme down in the restaurant. The theme is taken tastefully up to the hotel room we stayed in, which was spotless with a very comfy bed and clean bathroom.
Every member of staff we spoke to were approachable, helpful and so friendly.
The price may seem a little high for the one night we stayed, but you have to take into account, the location, the theme of the venue and that a large breakfast and refillable drinks were included. The menu offered great options and we didn't feel rushed or abandoned even though the place was packed. The food arrived quickly and tasted great. We weren't disappointed at all. It ticked all the boxes and we were happy with the price for the services we were given.
There was some noise in our hotel room from the music in the bar and restaurant, but not enough that it bothered us. Plus, the place closed at 11pm so it was quiet from then on.
Our only issue was the parking. There is limited parking and we did have trouble getting a spot - we checked in on a Saturday afternoon. There is a Sainsbury's car park just behind the restaurant but I'm not too sure about Smith & Western's policy regarding parking in there. Once you're parked and in, it's well worth it. We had a great time and will definitely be back.
- Matthew (10/5): - Was nice place cheap good food and drinks and restaurants near
- Julia (10/5): - Only issue I had was the lack of disabled access.
I am mobilty impaired and whilst I understood that there was no disabled access to the rooms there were no ramps available for use at steps. Portable ramps would be useful. However the staff were extremely helpful
- Zoe (10/5): - What a fantastic hotel! I had an unforgettable stay here in one of their amazingly decorated, very comfortable 'ranch' rooms. The food was great, staff very friendly and accommodating and easy parking on-site too. This hotel is an amazing experience for any wannabe cowboys or cowgirls!
- sallyfY4246EN (2/5): They couldnât do a gluten free choice due to cross contamination in their kitchen - Came here on the 26th September and asked for GF menu. When I chose something of it I was told they couldnât do it due to cross contamination in their kitchen. They should re think their menu if they cannot do stuff
- James (10/5): STAY HERE!! - I was greeted with a smile, couldnt be happier with my stay. Incredible staff, comfy room and the food is to die for.
- Richard (10/5): - Everyone from start to finish was really friendly and helpful. Room were very clean, breakfast was great. Car parking great. Near to everything.
Hotel and bar, great theme, all staff were dressed up, even for breakfast.
We will be back.
- Mona (8/5): - An unusual place to stay but a good value & perfect for me. I was on a road trip in the UK and this was my first stop. The hotel is ancillary to a Cowboy & Indian themed restaurant. I arrived before 3pm and had no trouble parking in their lot. A restaurant staff member checked me in and showed me to my room. The room was spacious and the bathroom modern. All the rooms were themed and named after Native American tribes. I was taken aback by that. At least there was an educational statement about the tribe on the wall of my room. The room had a fridge as well as coffee machine and kettle. There was no AC, but a small fan had been provided. The wi-fi worked fine. Reception is not 24/7 â no staff are on site from about 12am to 6:30am. Thereâs a side door accessible using a fob attached to your room key if youâre coming or going after hours. It sounds like the rooms are always filled in advance, so no need to worry about being there alone. Breakfast was included and one could pick from just about anything in the breakfast menu. The only drawback staying there was that music blared from down stairs until about 11pm so I couldnât sleep.
The location was great. Thereâs a Sainsbury and Lidl right there so I could stock up for the rest of my trip. I was also able to walk down to The Pantiles which is close by.
If youâre traveling with young kids this is probably a fun place because of the western themed restaurant (think saddles as barstools).
- marklA4278NL (10/5): A extreamly fun Birthday meal worth a visit - Great themed resturant, lots of country and western music and items throughout, staff extremely friendly ,food was very very good 5 attended(one child) all enjoyed meal no negative comments, the birthday celebration pudding worth it at ÂŁ18 and he got a hat for free and balloon at 33 tears old haha, brilliant night well done to a attentive staff, and cheff on great food, front of house you could see wanted patrons to enjoy their night.
- 133josephinek (10/5): Excelent - Amy our waitress was so lovely, always so smiley and nothing was too much of a bother for her. Would definitely recommend and the food was lovely.
- Oriel (10/5): - Awesome cowboys and Indian theme great beds Awesome breakfast
- LYNNETTE (8/5): - Overall good. Half and half on service, first night great, second night different person looked bored at being there.
Shower fittings cheap barely hanging on wall.
- Ollie (10/5): Friendly and fun - Lovely staff, great food. Mattress in Apache had some hard springs. Good value for money with breakfast included. Evening staff were really good with us even though we arrived late, thanks guys.
- Robert (10/5): - Great food. Good atmosphere
- KBCoLl (10/5): What a gem! - We spent 2 nights here to use as a base to put our National Trust card to good use. We booked it last minute more for the location and on site parking. Expectations werenât high for the price paid. Wow- what a gem indeed! We were more than pleasantly surprised by this wonderfully quirky little place. We hadnât realised it was themed; everything was tastefully done. All Staff were amazing - upbeat, positive and accommodating and it was an absolute pleasure being there. The breakfast was superb (scrambled eggs the best Iâve ever had!) and pancakes to die for. We stayed for an evening meal on the second night - food and atmosphere (especially when a birthday etc was highlighted by staff) were equally fabulous. The room itself was a tad on the small size and some noise could be heard from the neighbouring room on one night BUT everything was catered for with coffee machine, mini fridge, fan and bathroom excellent size and everything clean. Short walk to The Pantiles, shops on the doorstep ( Sainsburyâs etc just the other side of the carpark without imposing on the view from the outside terrace), 6 NT properties to visit all within short driving distance ( highly recommend Chartwell House ( Churchillâs home), Batemanâs (Rudyard Kiplingâs home), Scotney and Bodiam Castles to name a few. Think you can tell after reading this - we would highly recommend- loved it. Excellent value for money. Thankyou - and keep up the good work!
- 288marlaf (8/5): Good but needs some improvement - The portion of coleslaw is too small and noticeably getting smaller on every visit. A minimal dab is coleslaw on a lettuce doesnât pair well with an amercican themed decor. (American restaurant serving is quite generous, just saying).
Overall the food was very tasty.
- 166catrionam (10/5): Themed with a capital T - I booked this hotel last minute without really looking into it and didn't realise until I arrived it was themed and when I say themed, with a capital T, these guys took it to the next level.
Country And Western through and through from the Saloon entrance to the saddle bar stools & the named bedrooms to the wagon wheel biscuits in the mini bar! Even the email I received thanking me for my business was addressed "Howdy Partner".
Hilarious!
the service was friendly and attentive the rooms clean and comfortable and the pancake stack for breakfast with a cuppa joe "delicious".
Thanks for putting a smile on my face at the end of a long working day..
- 836PaulT (8/5): Very good value. - S&W has a lot to recommend it. They're very clear about the western theme, so don't be surprised by cowboy hats, choice of music (which was a bit loud but off at 2200)and what's on the menu. Very good value for B&B, plenty of car parking, easy access to Sainsburys and other shops, bedroom a bit small but well equipped with tea and coffee making, fridge and mini-bar, nice crisp bed linen, plenty of storage space; decent size shower cubicle. Plenty of TV channels, though the TV was mounted a bit high for me. Bed was comfy but 13.5 tog duvet in a hot, dry May was way too hot for me. Very decent breakfast and good service. A thinner duvet and quieter music and it would probably be ***** from me.
- Ian (10/5): Very comfortable and great value - The Rooms are spotlessly clean and have everything you could need. Very comfortable and good size room. I liked the Western theme. Breakfast was prepared freshly and was a very good size. Very good all round and good value
- Kevin (10/5): - Amazing themed rooms, very clean m with crisp white cotton sheets, and very comfy bed and pillows.
Powerful shower and fluffy towels.
Breakfast choice was amazing, cooked to order , very hot and tasty.
Staff could not have been more helpful, requested more tea and milk sachets, bought to our room with 5 mins and asked if we would prefer fresh milk!
Lady serving breakfast was lovely, very helpful and friendly
Definitely stay here again
- DianaBKent (10/5): Enjoyable stay in this Western themed hotel - We stayed two nights recently and cannot fault the service and facilities. Though the quirky rooms, which are decorated with native American themes, are not the largest we have stayed in ours was comfortable, warm and adequate for a short stay.
A couple of minor issues we had were dealt with swiftly and in a friendly manner. Credit particularly goes to Dan, housekeeper and duty manager.
The breakfast menu featured some interesting items and I especially enjoyed the avocado on toast.
- kaleemk2025 (2/5): Disappointing Birthday Celebration at Smith & Western, Tunbridge Wells** - recently celebrated my wifeâs birthday at Smith & Western, Tunbridge Wells. We had a table booked for 18:15 for a party of five. Upon arrival, we quickly realized that our table was too small. After requesting a move, the staff, who were fantastic throughout, eventually relocated us to a larger table.
However, from there, the experience went downhill. We ordered nacho starters to share, but what arrived was a far cry from the descriptionâthe beef brisket was noticeably absent and disappointing. The main course took a staggering hour and ten minutes to arrive, and unfortunately, the wait wasn't worth it. My wifeâs Cajun chicken was dry, while my daughter's fajitas had plenty of onions but hardly any chicken.
For what was supposed to be a celebratory dinner, the total cost of ÂŁ200 left us utterly dissatisfied. I personally will not return or recommend this restaurant based on this experience.
- FrequentFlier802238 (10/5): Lovely birthday meal! - Lovely staff, great atmosphere, fab music, food delicious. I'm coeliac and they were very careful about that. Just hope we have one near us as here visiting,!
We were here for my sister in laws birthday, something for everyone! Will be back!
- C9026HWaarons (10/5): Great vibes and great food. - We finished off our pub golf night here.
Very accommodating, food was great. Vibe was amazing.
First time trying a Philly Cheesesteak and was not dissapointed. Steaks were cooked to perfection, food came out quickly and we had the table booked for 2 hours which was a really nice time frame.
Staff were also lovely.
- Amy (10/5): Yippee Kay-Aye - Great hotel. Fun and quirky with the Western theme I really enjoyed my stay.
- Rhianne (10/5): - Loved it here, the food is exceptional!..
The room was very clean and tidy and all staff go above and beyond to be welcoming..
The one and only downside is the music was really loud in the bar, unfortunately it was the night we stayed that there was also a big party downstairs partying until 11pm!..
But don't let this out you off as it really is a very unique place to stay
- Ian (8/5): Work trip - Enjoyed my stay, for the price it was excellent value for money. Staff were very helpful, had one issue with no hot water in my room which was sorted out.
- Michael (10/5): - fully enjoyed our three nights, service was good, rooms where clean, dinning was excellent, and not to far to walk into the town, breakfast was served to us , we are used to getting our own, but this did work out ok, and upon leaving, we re booked for next year.
- Michael (10/5): - fully enjoyed our three nights, service was good, rooms where clean, dinning was excellent, and not to far to walk into the town, breakfast was served to us , we are used to getting our own, but this did work out ok, and upon leaving, we re booked for next year.
- Marie (10/5): - The staff here are great. The friendliest team I've ever had the pleasure to be greeted by in any hotel Ive stayed and Ive travel alot.
They are a great assest to your establishment.
- Robin (2/5): Haven't been this disappointed since shreck 2 - Poor show. Had meals at this smith and weston before and really enjoyed then so thought when I'm next down I'll book a night.
First impression was good but whe i arrived at 9:30 but once i had been out to get somthing to eat (and returned) i found the shower not to be working! Unfortunately this was after the staff had left. In the morning while eating my yoghurt from the self serve the spoon texture felt a bit odd. Much to my disgust and horror the spoon was dirty! I thought it must have been me so went to get another to find 5/7 were dirty! Very disappointed. Then to top it off the staff member said the showers was a know issue and it should now be working..... unfortunately this was at half seven so no tome to use.
- Judy (10/5): - This was our best stay while visiting the UK, amazing breakfast as well.
- JaneH2076 (10/5): Yeehaw! Loved it đ¤ đ - Yeehaw! Was the perfect city/town break hotel to stay with my teenage son Cool Hand Luke! Ranch rooms were Uniquely comfortable, best buffalo chicken wings ever too! Fully recommend staying if visiting Royal Tunbridge Wells for location especially with children as has free parking directly behind hotel restaurant.
- K4169KJhelena (10/5): Great stay - Just spent two nights at Smith and Western Hotel and bar Tunbridge Wells. Great base to explore the town.Comfy themed bedrooms .Had dinner in the bar on first night and two excellent breakfasts .Great food. All staff very friendly nothing to much trouble .Would definitely stay again.
- Sarah-J-Wilki (10/5): Yaâll get down to Smith & Western! - Absolutely fantastic weekend! I booked Smith & Western as a birthday weekend away for my husband.
We were so impressed with everything - the building, the decor, friendly staff, beautiful rooms and amazing food, it was faultless.
There was live music on at the same time as I had booked our evening meal, and they were great. A complementary shot of Tequila was also a nice touch!
As we had a room booked for the evening, we had 20% off our evening food bill. Breakfast was also included in the room rate.
Overall, we had an amazing time. The only downfall is that we live almost four hours away so canât visit more often! Please open a Smith & Western in the Midlands!
- Fearless01227955473 (10/5): Great stay for solo traveller. - Stayed at the Smith and Western Tunbridge Wells so that I could visit family. stayed 3 nights as a solo guest. The food was great, the service both helpful and cheerful. My room was clean, comfortable bed and a lovely shower room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great place to stay. - This is a great themed pub, hotel , the staff are friendly and on the ball , even showing you to your room .
My room was clean and even carried on the Wild West theme . The food was a little limited, but is was a cowboy/ cowgirl place so I guess they eat a lot of burgers.
- gemmacM9958WM (10/5): Best night in a long time - Lovely night to share with my wife for her birthday and helpful staff especially russ.. a credit to the Smith and western team ... rooms well presented and clean definitely will be returning in the near future............................
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Right from check-in, staff were friendly and helpful. Riley took on my query about payment resolving the issue and satisfactorily explained the discrepancy between my app and his system. He took our bags to our room and ensured all was well. This excellent customer service by all staff members continued throughout our two night stay. A particular shout out to the smiley singing lady who made up our room.
The room was clean and comfortable, nice big shower and good facilities. We would stay again.
- C3363BZlees (10/5): What a Rooting tooting place - What a place. We stayed the night in the hotel as we was seeing jimmy carr. The room was amazing so clean and looked amazing with the Indian themed room. Plenty of space in the room and great shower.
We had dinner in the restaurant the service was fantastic, could not fault the sheriff. The food was the best I've had in a long time. Had the 10oz serlion. Cooked to perfection and the sides were beautiful. My partner had the mississippi melt. She loved it.
We would recommend going here for dinner and we would definitely live to stay here again.
We are going to gave to come back soon as our daughter is jealous.
- DawnH67 (10/5): Lovely quirky hotel and bar - What a lovely quirky place. It was great to see the old railway station still being used and the building enjoyed. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed incredibly comfortable. The decor was fantastic and we loved the lamps in the room. Everything had been thought about. There was a Tassimo in the room as well as a kettle with tea, coffee and hot chocolate on offer. Also 2 bottles of water for the evening. The room was equipped with an iron and ironing board, hairdryer and even a fan. The bathroom was clean and the shower powerful with plenty of towels. The following morning breakfast was delicious and the baked eggs and hash was divine. There was plenty on offer from cereals, jiuce, bread, croissants and a large choice of cooked breakfasts and of course endless tea and coffee. The staff throughout the whole stay were attentive and welcoming and we had a throughly enjoyable stay. The only thing I will add to the review is that the accommodation is above a bar *(which closes at 11) so you will hear the country music playing but this did not bother us at all. Parking also on site
First class stay and we are already planning on coming back. Thank you
- mikehI1017WH (10/5): Traveled for work - I stayed as I was visiting with my company, to meet some clients check in was smooth, hotels rooms were great!! I was anit concerned at first but as soon as I entered the building I had a great chat with Riley, he is a credit to the business.
- U2311FVrichardw (10/5): What a surprise - On arrival we were met with a building looking like something from Toy Story. If honest, I thought this is not my bag!
On entering the building we were met by a lovely member of staff who although was very busy serving other customers made sure we knew he would help us as soon a possible.
We stayed for a single evening, this included a morning breakfast.
We were shown to our cowboy themed room, very clean, tidy, white fluffy towels, shampoo, soap etc provided. Everything was clearly explained and all our questions were answered with regards to the local area attractions.
We both enjoyed a first-class quiet sleep on a comfortable bed.
The following morning we enjoyed a suburb breakfast, unlimited food and drinks although we do not have big appetites. Again, the staff member, who we met on arrival, was excellent and is a credit to your company. His name is Tiago. He's an incredibly hard-working member of staff who should be valued.
In summary, my initial thoughts were very incorrect so if you want to stay somewhere close to the shops etc, give this place go. It's fun and very friendly.
- helenq_11 (10/5): Fabulous stay - We booked the hotel for Friday night, the room was lovely and big , great themed decor, very comfy bed. The restaurant was great we had evening meal and breakfast both very nice. Staff were great, really helpful and absolutely banging tunes !. Would definitely recommend
- Deborah (10/5): Clean, comfortable and would definitely return - The check in process was a little unclear for me as the website didn't say much, I arrived during dinner service and it was a tad strange lugging myself and my bags through the restaurant as I didn't really know where to go but after guidance from the staff I checked in at the bar, there is a separate entrance/exit to use once checked in which made it easier for daily use rather than going through the busy restaurant all the time. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful and my room and ensuite were bigger than I had expected. The bed was a good size with lovely pillows and fluffy duvet, it felt like home. I liked the room facilities such as the coffee pod machine, much nicer than sachets of cheap coffee in the morning and the hairdryer was good too. My room was very clean upon arrival and refreshed daily. The TV actually had a good choice of channels which all worked unlike some places. The bathroom was a great size with a powerful shower, good sized shower not a tiny box shower like you might expect from a hotel and it had nice large fluffy towels. I felt very comfortable and it was like a home from home for a few days. I was apprehensive about being above the busy wild west restaurant with loud music but you don't hear a thing, it was very peaceful which was great. This was the most comfortable hotel stay I've had in a while and I'd definitely return.
- Mr_themeparkfan (10/5): Brilliant theming, and pleasant stay! - Love all things themed, so when I learned about this place online, I had to see it for myself. Checked in at 4pm, was very quick and easy and the staff member took us straight to our room. The room was brilliantly themed, sparkling clean, and had all the little amenities you'd expect. The ensuite shower was fantastic, and the complimentary shampoo and boday wash smelled lovely.
We booked a table for dinner and the food was exactly as I expected, not the most daring of menus, but well cooked, tasty american fare. The service was exceptional, and the staff were all lovely.
Slept like a log, yes you can hear the sound from the restaurant but after 10:30pm it was very quiet. Used the coffee machine in the morning which was much needed before we had breakfast in the restaurant.
Breakfast was tasty, plenty of it and again, service was exceptional.
The team that work at Smith and Western Royal Tunbridge Wells really know what they're doing in delivering that famous "american" hospitality, service with a smile. Nothing was too much of an ask, and they made us feel very welcome.
The building is next door to the Spa Valley Railway, and I feel both businesses are missing a trick: they should consider doing some sort of Wild West Weekend package with a frontier themed train ride, followed by dinner at the Smith and Western!
Anyway, would highly recommend a stay for anyone who loves themed attractions and stays! Will hopefully get back for a future stay!
- janekV2390CU (10/5): Quirky and fun. - Stayed for two nights in Tunbridge Wells. Room was lovely, even a coffee machine. Evening meal was lovely also substantial. Dan in restaurant was very efficient and cheery. Breakfast also very good. Would highly recommend. Lovely and friendly place!
- Julie (10/5): - Clean, spacious rooms with modern en suite. Tea making facilities and toiletries provided. Third time we have stayed here. Staff are always lovely. Choice of tasty breakfasts included. Definitely recommend.
- Julia (10/5): Fabulous - Lovely themed place, we did an evening event on the Spa Valley Railway and wS 2 minutes walk, no worries about parking. Food was great both meals in restaurant and breakfast.
If you suffer with being hot, suggest you use the supplied fan
- Terry (10/5): - Staff who looked after us were extremely good and helpful would stay here again.
- gary (10/5): - Very clean, great breakfast.
- Gillian (10/5): Great place to stay - Great room with much attention to both themed and domestic detail.
Very friendly staff.
Breakfast was very good value too.
- Tracy (10/5): - Itâs very quirky and the theme is continuous. The rooms and bathroom are very comfortable and clean. Parking is easy & free for hotel guests. Every single member of staff we spoke to, whether bar, waiting staff, Manager and the cleaning ladies were absolutely lovely and very friendly. We really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely stay again. The included breakfast is delicious too!
- peter (10/5): Great theming, service rooms and food! - Unexpectedly brilliant! First and foremost the service from all staff was superb. We ended up having dinner there which we hadnât planned to do and it was good American style food! Breakfast was lovely. Room was great - plenty of room, coffee machine, good shower and immaculately clean. Brilliant theming throughout the bar and hotel. Two things to be aware of - the rooms are above the bar so you can here the music but that goes off at 11 so that was no problem for us as we were out, and the bed was a standard double which may be an issue for some. Overall a resounding 10/10 .
- Joy (10/5): Blown away. Loved our stay - Wow, the rooms where amazing. The decor was fantastic. Tied in with the cowboy theme. Equipped with everything for your stay. Beds were so comfy. Bathroom sower was excellent . So clean. Absolutely loved our stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice room, tidy and clean. Bathroom a little dated but ok. Restaurant a little quirky and the theme a little over the top for me. Food ok. Breakfast was generous with Dolly Parton being played a little loud :)
- deborah (10/5): - So much fun! Lovely rooms and great facilities.
- Barry (8/5): - Former railway station building
- Cindy (10/5): - Fun , quirky hotel with great staff. Very accommodating and helpful. Lovely room with all amenities and free parking.
- Christine (10/5): - Our room was clean, comfortable and had all we needed in it. Staff were efficient and friendly. Really enjoyed our stay overnight at this hotel. The food in the restaurant was freat. Cannot fault this hotel. Had a car park too.
- Andrew (10/5): Great stay. - Leo and his team were brilliant, welcoming and hard working clearly doing long hours but always had time for his guests. Thankyou
- mihaela (10/5): - The decor of pub is stunning and the staff very attentive, also the breakfast very good and plenty choices. Cross the road is woods with footpaths where i had a good walk is also a garden centre near by where i found beautiful gifts.exellent weekend trip for me.â¤
- William (8/5): Good value - A little understaffed but the staff worked hard and did their best. The restaurant was good and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Good value for money.
- Stanley (10/5): - excellent reception by a member of staff and room was very good
- Margaret (10/5): A great stay - We had a fantastic stay. Our introduction to the UK was rough as part of our luggage did not arrive for 2 days. The staff were so supportive and accomodating. Our room was cozy and the western theme was charming. Easy walking to the Pantiles and a huge grocery store right behind the property. We loved sitting on the back patio sipping beer.
- Ken (8/5): - It was okay, but not exceptional.
- William (8/5): S&W TONBRIDGE WELLS. - The cleanliness of the room was excellent but unfortunately spoiled when I was unable to use the wash basin due to the plug being faulty for two days. My first meal on this occasion was served completely cold and had to be changed,an unusual event for S & W in past experience. All staff very helpful and friendly
- Jennifer (10/5): Great stay! - Great! Friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast was delicious! Comfortable, clean room. Quality tea bags in room too, perfect! Ideal for a short stay, as we were attending a family wedding nearby. Thank you and well S & W!
- Nicholas (10/5): - Location in easy stroll to town centre
- Lee (10/5): - My Partner and I stayed at Smith and Western for a Bank Holiday weekend to attend a friends wedding. We had such an amazing time. The hotel had so much character, the staff were so helpful and friendly, the food and drinks were fantastic, Not to mention the country and western music that played in the background gave a nice relaxed vibe and added to the over Character of the place. We are definitely converted to Country Music now lol. And we would definitely stay there again. Highly recommended.
- Lisa (10/5): - Great location to explore Tunbridge Wells, bar and restaurant excellent too.
- Kathryn (8/5): - Close to the Forum and Pantiles. Wish there was a lift/elevator. Unique place and dining was great.
- Catherine (10/5): Taste of the Wild West! - Visited with friends. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel rooms were country and western themed. Very clean with nice touches throughout, and a comfortable double bed.
Quirky seating and decor throughout restaurant and bar.
Food was fabulous and the atmosphere great!
Definitely going to return.....loved it!!!!
- Martin (10/5): - All of the staff were very helpful , the menu would not please everyone but what was on offer was cooked to order so you get what you want.
- Andrew (6/5): Theme hotel that needs some work. Ok but not great - Check in was very informal, asked about discounted rates at the restaurant and the guy didnât know, told me Iâd have to go speak to someone elseâŚ. ate elsewhere in the end. Room was FREEZING cold on arrival. The wall heater fuse was locked out and had to heat the room with 2 electric heaters. Great, so the option to keep the room warm is either a noisy fan heater, or a radiant heater brighter then the sunâŚ. Both great for a good night sleep! Room seemed clean enough and no issue with noise from the restaurant, bed was comfy. Walls must be paper thin though, could hear every word from the cackling dolphin in the room opposite. Location is good for the town. The breakfast was also good but beware that itâs only served from when the restaurant opens (9 I think?) so not much use if on business. Expensive for what it is at over a hundred pound per night and primarily is a restaurant with a few rooms available.
- Mark (4/5): - Big mistake. Like living over an old-time western saloon but with less class.
- Anthony (10/5): - Nice modern rooms
Lovely bathroom
Tea and coffee facilities in the room are better than most places
Bathroom was a bit cold first thing but the nice modern showers with plenty of hot water made up for that
Very helpful friendly staff
- Iain (10/5): - From the outside it looked a little tired, but inside was a world of difference, a wonderfully transformed former station into the wild west of America. The room was great, the food was even better.
- Amanda (10/5): - Style
- TRACIE (10/5): Great cowboy night - Staff were so friendly and helpful . Room was lovely and the whole place had a great atmosphere. Dinner and breakfast was plentiful , delicious and very filling .
- Lynne (10/5): Our stay - We were there for a Christening, so was not there much, but the staff were very helpful and friendly. Nice coffee in the room
- Gillian (8/5): We'll be back - Third time staying here. Love the themed rooms. Will be back.
- Julie (8/5): Nice stay. - Nice one night stay in this cowboy and Indian themed restaurant and hotel. Full English breakfast a bit disappointing but pancakes gorgeous.
- Susan (10/5): Fun atomsphere - The room was comfortable. The food is great providing you like American food. Would stay there again. The staff definitely work hard and will be happy to help in any way.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved the themed bedrooms, theyâre really unique and match the theme of the restaurant.
- martin (8/5): Great stay but Minor issues - Good stay, great staff v friendly. Super breakfast. Room & bed was comfortable and bathroom good.
Only negatives re room - bathroom was v dusty and used coffee cups not changed when room was serviced. Food in restaurant very good TexMex. Again great service, friendly helpful staff. Floor in places quite sticky.
- J C (10/5): Western style quirkiness - Quirky hotel - western style through and though. Clean bedroom and good breakfast. Attentive and friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Almost perfect - Western theme which was good, in an old disused train station which was different. Room rather warm but a fan provided. Food excellent. Only let down was no complimentary toilettes as stated. When asked shampoo and shower gel was found by raiding other rooms but no hand soap at all. Had to go buy soap!

- John (6/5): No breakfast. - Evening meal was good but breakfast was not available on the Saturday until after 9am. This is not detailed anywhere and I am an not sure if it is the same for the rest of the week. I would not have booked if this had been indicated.
When searching the hotels own site guests are also supposed to get a 20% discount on food.
- Donna (10/5): Great stay - They have really gone with the theme - which we loved. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. Our room was a good size, clean and quiet.
We had dinner in the restaurant where the portions were very generous. The breakfast in the morning was also great.
- Alfie (10/5): Amazing stay - close and comfortable - Really lovely stay in the quirky Smith and Western. Great location, a few minutes walk from the Pantiles and all local shops. Literally next door to a Sainsburyâs if you need! Food was lovely with a good choice of options, staff were all amazing and even offered to look after a bag for us as we had nowhere to leave for a day out! The room was lovely and all of the Native American decor was amazing quality.
The only thing that needs looking at is the pillows! They were a little tough and trying to get comfortable to sleep wasnât easy however only a minor point that didnât taint the stay at all.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Somewhat disappointing - Cleanliness was good generally (although some parts of the furniture are rather old and have a particular stale smell - for example the wardrobe). However, the food was disappointing. Too expensive for the quality, a bunch of rocket salad on the plate with no dressing and looking dry was not impressive at all. Some reviews stated that they had 20% discount. The waiter who served us said he was going to check at the bar however he did not address it after and we decided not to ask as it felt uncomfortable, he seemed not interested to go out of his way, he generally did his job mechanically and lacking interest. The restaurant was cold, dark and the music is too loud. We would go back if there is no other accommodation available however would not eat there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent friendly staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Western theme was brilliant. Great atmosphere and food.
Staff were extremely efficient, friendly and helpful.we met the owner who was a very nice man, described the origins of various lamps etc in the rooms.
Highly recommend this place.
- M R (6/5): Heart attack? And where's my breakfast? - There is one key problems with this hotel: it isn't a hotel but a grillhouse with rooms. There's nothing wrong with that except it means if you want breakfast you have to wait until 9am when the restaurant opens to the public, which isn't that much use of you have a normal working day. The staff were very friendly but be warned if you do eat here expect to be in hospital with a heart condition shortly afterwards.
- Adam (8/5): Nice decor but not the best comfort - Unusual place to stay which was nice, we liked the decor in the bedroom and the breakfast was great. Disappointed by guests being told that Covid mask restrictions were not being enforced so other guests were not wearing masks when in the narrow corridor or stairs. Room was nice, worried about the noise from the supermarket car park we were overlooking, and the bar downstairs, but with the windows closed it was actually nice and quiet. Unfortunately the mattress was very lumpy and could feel all the springs. My wife didnât sleep well at all and we both felt stiff the next morning. After breakfast being brought to us (which we really enjoyed - lovely variety and service) we didnât see any member of staff to clear our plates, or to check out.
- Gareth (10/5): well worth a stay - A great hotel , amazing service and lovely food
- Clare (10/5): Great Fun - Great fun hotel and bar lovely surprise.
