- Tim (3/5): Not the best option in Street - Convenient location Very dated, needs a lot of renovation, noisy, bed not comfortable
- Georgie (10/5): Really lovely stay - Location Nothing
- Brian (8/5): -
- Cooper (8/5): - The staff in reception were extremely helpful and nice The shower wasn't good
- Ann (7/5): Nice stay in a lovely location - Comfortable bed, good size room. Nice bar :) No beside table, drafty windows :(
- ANDY (10/5): Really good value for money - Really easy to park (unlike other hotels in this town we have used). Check in efficient and room very comfortable and quiet.
- Bushen (9/5): - Hotel clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and professional and made my stay pleasant. This is my second stay at the Wessex and I plan to stay again. N/a
- lee (8/5): Great central location, room nice and clean, good value - Central, good staff and very nice room Nothing
- Richard (6/5): we slept - accessibility to glastonbury the dust levels were very high, aspects of disrepair within the room, th elack of sound installation
- Amanda (10/5): The staff were extremely welcoming and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. - The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The rooms were comfortable and we all slept extremely well. The breakfast was also very good. We would definitely stay there again.
- jon (8/5): Great ! - Clean hotel, accessible for Glastonbury, lots of free parking and friendly staff
- Tracie (8/5): Most enjoyable comfortable hotel to stay in other than our hot room - Convenient
Very clean Heating was on and the room was uncomfortably hot for us
- Magnus (10/5): It will be our first choice and hopefully stay longer next time. - Very good value, clean, super friendly and helpful. Great location. Quiet. I love having windows that actually open. Squirrels in the park outside the window in the morning! I mean it's not a five star hotel. Didn't care. Loved it.
- Jeffrey (8/5): Central location for exploring Somerset. - Staff extremely accommodating. Location was excellent for the purpose of our visit. Good breakfast. Unfortunately the restaurant was not open during our stay. The decor outside of the main areas were a little tired.
- Kim (10/5): -
- Barry (5/5): Underwhelming but with massive potential - Staff were very pleasant and breakfast options were good. Excellent location for access to other areas of Street. Clearly the hotel is going under refurbishment and some rooms have been modernised. Mine wasn't. The shower did not work well, either did the toilet, room was tired and in need of refurbishment. The bar area comes across as an add on and not welcoming. With a private school like Millfield on their doorstep where high value individuals are looking to stay in good accommodation, I can't stop thinking that the Wessex is missing a great opportunity.
- Clare (7/5): Very good value for money - Great location
- Anthony (8/5): clean and tidy - Staff were very helpful, the room was clean The hotel was a little dated albeit i appreciate the expensive cost of a refit for a relatively small hotel
- Florence (9/5): Loved our short stay. Parking available and close to amenities - Location is great. Walking distance to shops and restaurants
- colman-baker (4/5): - Shops nearby Mirror on dressing table smeared and dirty. Big chip in bath. Dripping toilet. Curtains did not fit to top and let outside floodlights in at night. Mattress too hard. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. Restaurant was closed in the evening during my stay and I had to walk across the road to a kebab shop rwo nights running for pizza. I don't like fast food and would not have gone to the hotel if they had told me the restaurant was closed. I went there because I was unwell with a flare up ..not expecting that I would have to go elsewhere for my food. The left window didn't have a lock/stay on it and when I opened it I almost fell out...heatwave and no fan, hot pipes undef floor and stifilling . Awful...I would not stay again . I feel let down.
- Liss (3/5): Its a nooooo - The front reception and the young man working the night shift . Friendly and efficiant and apologetic. No restsurant, no cocktail bar or entertainment, no music... a saturday night! Bed was hard. Pillows were like rags screwed up into the case. Breakfast was minimal, sausages were so cheap and inedible. Bread for toasting was literally mouldy!
- Halligan (8/5): - Comfortable beds Shower head needs replacing and uncomfortable pillows
- Ingrid Orozco (9/5): -
- Catherine (9/5): - I loved the classic feel of the hotel. Staff were amazing. Lovely dining room and breakfast was plentiful and freshly cooked to order. The room was too warm but we opened a window to keep it cooler
- 568beccah (6/5): Middling experience - Noisy, dirty room. Floor not vacuumed with sweet wrapper and clothing tags present. Over bath shower did not work. But bath filled up quickly. Restaurant not available due to private function with no warning. Breakfast was delicious, bathroom and bedding was clean.
- Dianne (8/5): - Quiet
Comfy bed
- W6321PSchrisw (10/5): Good clean hotel - Went with a coach trip. Hotel was clean the food was vrry good with a good choice. The staff could not do enough to help you. I would not hessitate to stay there again. One of the better hotels I have stayed in.
- Robert (9/5): - Staff were friendly, breakfast was very good đ Nothing
- josephlB6888CL (10/5): Would recommend. - I stayed at the Wessex Hotel for the duration of 3 days as I was on a business trip to the area, my requirement was for a comfortable clean room which could provide me with a peaceful nights sleep away from my hectic work schedule, I am very pleased to say that the Hotel ticked the boxes here, my room was clean well equipped and spacious.
I included Breakfast to my booking & this was also of a very good quality with ample hot & cold choices.
I personally could not fault the staff who were friendly helpful & courteous during my stay.
I will definitely be using the Wessex Hotel again in the near future when in the area.
Thank you.
- Waddlesafc (2/5): Don't stay here until improvements are made - MIdweek stay and i think there were only 2/3 other people staying in the whole hotel. The Hotel is dated, my room looked like something from the 70's. the bed was hard, the cushions were harder. The taps in the shower were hot, but too hot and by adding cold water it made it even hotter. i tried the cold tap on its own and the water was scolding. The door lock wouldn't actually lock so if someone from the outside had a key it would open my room. there was no ventilation as the bedroom window wouldn't open. Outside of my room 201, there was cable hanging down from the ceiling and as a tall guy i had to avoid as i wasn't sure what the cable was for. The hotel staff didn't even ask how my stay was when i checked out, there was no customer experience interest what so ever. The hotel was empty and i can understand why. I walked by 2 other hotels on the same street that actually looked busy, i didn't see one person in the bar or restaurant that wasn't staff. if i hadn't already paid i would have stayed elsewhere
- Waddle (3/5): Choose another hotel, The Bear Inn looked nice - The fact that they had an ev charger was probably the only thing going for this hotel. The car parking spaces were ample as they only had 3 other guests The Hotel is dated, my room looked like something from the 70's. the bed was hard, the cushions were harder. The taps in the shower were hot, but too hot and by adding cold water it made it even hotter. i tried the cold tap on its own and the water was scolding. - Katsvara (8/5): Great - Location All was fine
- Jet31223868418 (10/5): Trip to Somerset , staying at The Wessex Hotel - I stayed at The Wessex Hotel with GB tours from 23rd February until 27th February.
Had a lovely room [105] very clean , lovely walk in shower . Food was very good and god selection . staff helpful and friendly . Clarks Village 5 minutes walk from Hotel , Market day Thursday . Very nice stay , would always choose The Wessex when I travel to Somerset .
- Michael (9/5): - Very good
- Alison (8/5): Even with the little niggles it was a nice environment to stay in and would 100 per cent stay there again - Itâs was clean and the staff were lovely ,nothing was too much trouble The showers were run off a mixer tap so it was a bit of an ordeal going hot them cold them hot again! And the restaurant wasnât open any of the evenings we were there which was disappointing as it meant you had to go out for food, staff were very obliging when takeaways were brought in though
- Julian (10/5): -
- Christian (2/5): -
- Jonathan (6/5): Room decor was dated. Shower head needs to be descaled so it doesn't spray in all directions. - Cooked breakfast was good. Shower had plenty of pressure, but needs a descale (Room 115).! On arrival i was given the key to my room, but when I opened the door it was already occupied..! I was then given a different larger room. Trouble was the water tasted very metallic, so couldn't make any tea that I could drink.
- Noel (5/5): Breakfast and room clean. Heating a significant issue however with temperature unbearable . - Breakfast and staff were very nice. Room facilities and cleanliness was also great. Despite the room and breakfast being lovely. The heating in the room was unbearable for several days. Heating was on full despite it being middle of summer on an hot day/night. Appears to be ongoing issue at the hotel as several guests mentioned similar. Mentioned this at reception and the solution provided was to open window and provision of a fan. It looks like the heating was unable to be turned down. This significantly took away from what otherwise would have been a great experience
- Ashley (8/5): All good - Very good Weather đ€Ł
- Lesley (8/5): Istaff were very helpful and the food good but woul - All went well Chairs in dining room not very comfortable
- R1650RZmatthewd (10/5): Happy to return. - We happily returned to the Wessex Hotel once again, but this time over the festive period,
The Hotel was wonderfully & tastefully decorated for the festivities, which along with the always welcoming staff created the perfect relaxing atmosphere that we have come to expect from the Hotel from past experience.
The breakfast's were of good quality & hot, we did not stay for Christmas lunch as we were visiting family but from the conversation's that we later had with fellow guests who did, the afternoon sounded fabulous ( they apparently even have a pianist playing in the restaurant during Christmas lunch ), we may have to consider booking our meal's at the Hotel next year !
All in all great value for money & we were very well looked after, Thank you Wessex Hotel !
- S6976GUjulier (6/5): Dated and in need of refurbishment - The hotel is basic and in need of a serious amount of updating. Toilet is separate to the bathroom, which has the bath with shower over it and the sink to be able to wash your hands, would it not be more hygienic to also have a sink in with the toilet. The shower head was coming out in all directions when we arrived but staff were quick to change it. The towel rail is roasting hot as is the bathroom floor due to the hot water pipes under it, you can't turn the towel rail off as it plumbs the hot water as well, so if the rail is off you don't get hot water, this makes the bathroom and therefore the whole room very hot even in December, I would hate to think what it would have been like in the summer. Bed was rock hard and the pillows are either wafer thin or lumpy and hard. Breakfast was good with lots of choice, had 2 meals there first was poor, 2nd was very nice. Staff are really helpful and friendly and can't do enough for you, it is just a shame that this hotel hasn't had money spent on the required upkeep.
- Luke (6/5): -
- Teresa (7/5): Great place to visit Clarkes village with friendly staff - Parking and locality Very hot and decoration very drab in rooms
- Tabeeb (10/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): Perfect - Clean and tidy, great room size, comfortable beds, perfect location as we were visiting for the carnival, Luke was very personable, knowledgeable and professional, on-site parking was great as was the lift and communal areas. It's a bit rough around the edges in parts - hallway doors, wallpaper around windows, very basic kettle but still excellent value for money.
It was quite hot in the corridors, and in the bedrooms until we opened the windows despite the radiator being off. The towel rail was on permanently though so we had to keep the bathroom door closed too but to be fair we are having an unseasonably mild November.
- Ian (8/5): Very helpful staff . They were helpful, giving directions to where we wanted to go - The room was well designed, separate toilet and bathroom. The room was clean and everything was in the room we required for the stay It is a bit dated but comfortable
- Roma (10/5): Very accommodating staff very clean and comfortable the breakfast was worth every penny - Clean and very comfortable Just location
- heather (5/5): Not worth ÂŁ94 a night - The staff were very nice and helpful The fact that I was looking forward to a long hot shower after 3 1/2 driving, But I could not enjoy one because my bathroom had a ridiculously large spa bath in it that wasn't very clean
The room itself was extremely dated with a brown carpet and the mattress was very lumpy and very uncomfortable.
- john (8/5): So so, disappointed about breakfast - Very disappointed about breakfast. Had arranged with evening reception that a light breakfast would be available from 7am as we had an early start. Despite asking the ported nothing appeared, we left at 0720 to break our fast at Macdonalds. See above
- Victoria (6/5): It was ok. - Staff were very friendly and helpful. The bathroom needed up dating. The toilet was very noisy. The windows needed a clean in our room.
- Richard (3/5): Needs to be a lot cleaner and staff need retaining - On arrival the bearded receptionist was very good and helpful Hotel needed a good clean
breakfast was very poor and not everything was available
Evening receptionist ignored us ..not happy with that attitude
- Christine (3/5): Not to be repeated - We liked the heated bathroom floor and towel rail and there was plenty hot water
It was good that there was a separate toilet and a lift to the second floor made access easy to our room
There was ample free parking , free Wi-Fi and the staff were helpful and friendly . The dining chairs were soft and low so the table was chest height making it difficult to get up and down and to eat breakfast comfortably. The starters were limited I.e, tinned grapefruit, prunes, cereal and yogurts which one lady said were out of date. There was no fresh fruit. The served breakfast took a quarter of an hour and was all cold when it arrived , in particular the bacon was undercooked and the sausage and tomato were so thick skinned they were inedible. The filter coffee was like dishwater and the decaf coffee came in a tea pot. The bread for toast was not fresh. The worst cooked breakfast ever !
- EllieYeovil (10/5): A cuppa, a cake & real cool staff - Didn't stay overnight, but we tried the Afternoon Tea & cake.
Lovely surroundings, nice pot of tea each, for 3 of us plus a piece of cake.
Will definitely visit again.
- Jason (9/5): -
- Elaine (10/5): - Lovely room seperate shower and toilet useful for three people getting ready. Staff welcoming and friendly and managed to solve issue for us. Great breakfast selection. Room was modern and toilet and shower had excellent fixtures and fittings. Prosecco was really nice my friends said best they had tasted Window was really dangerous really large and wobbled slightly would be dangerous if child or special needs child/adult in room. Could potentially be dangerous under the influence in hot weather too.
- Andrew (8/5): - The staff were delightful. The room was big and very clean. The bed was very comfy. Breakfast was excellent and the car park very secure. It ticked all the boxes I care about
- thomassS1774VW (8/5): Excellent stay at this jotel - We attended an excellent ballroom dance break organised by Carole and Paul Eden.
Hotel well located within easy walking distance of the Clarks Outlet.
We were on a half board basis for three nights and the evening meals and menu choices were excellent for a 3 star hotel.
Hot breakfasts were individually cooked and very tasty.
Room very comfortable and a good size.,
The only problem we had was with the shower. Unfortunately the shower used a mixer system without thermostatic control. Often the water temperature would fluctuate quite alarmingly presumably due to water use in other bathrooms. Also the valve controlling water direction (bath or shower) was extremely stiff to use. However there was copious hot water
- Y7894TAmickd (2/5): Weekend stay - Never stayed here before and will never stay here again. Should be knocked down..
How they still have a 4â rating still. The room we stayed in was very dated, threading carpets, and the bathroom was mouldy.
This hotel needs lots of attention for the big prices they still charge for there room rates
- Pete (1/5): Dismal - Checking out Generally tatty. Patched wallpaper ,rotten window frames with filler in corners n cobwebs. Shower/bath cold water at a trickle or hot full force scalding hot, kettle tasting of cleaner no matter how many times rinsed n boiled it.

- Z7576KNlukec (10/5): WOW!! Amazing staff, comfortable bed, great location. - We came over from the states for the summer solstice in Glastonbury, we needed a place that could room 6 of us The Wessex hotel was the place.
Upon arrival we were greeted by a wonderful staff member who checked us in to our family and triple room. The rooms were super clean and welcoming, the beds were comfortable and clean, tea and coffee and a wonderful book about Somerset. All along the corridors were photos of the area, this was a wonderful feature. The staff members on the front desk were helping with directions to the bus stop so we could get to Glastonbury. Nothing was trouble for the staff members, as it was the middle of summer fans were provided on request.
The hotel is in a wonderful location, everything is close by. The staff here do a fantastic job making the place look amazing and clean.
Breakfast was amazing and even provided kids serving for my 3, 5 and 9 year. Breakfast staff all served with a smile and wonderful service.
Definitely will be staying here again. Affordable and friendly welcoming staff!!
- B5934XHsandraj (10/5): Line Dancing Weekend - Enjoyed a fabulous time with IOW Tours.
Stayed here for 3 nights and had a lovely time. The Ballroom is amazing. Such a lovely floor to dance on. I was on a DBB package and the food was great. Served fresh and hot. The Braised Beef was outstanding. Breakfast was nice. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff.
I found the pillows weren't to my taste in my bedroom. I was quickly offered alternatives and they arrived to my room. I was also hot in the night so they provided me with a fan which made me feel so much more comfortable. Nothing is to much trouble. Really is a great team who looked after me and made me feel welcome.
The bands were amazing and the whole experience was fun! Will book again for some more Line dancing shenanigans.
Thank you Wessex Hotel.
- JamieC2166 (10/5): Fantastic Location! - Had a wonderful time at The Wessex Hotel.
Found the hotel to be clean and comfortable. With some lovely touches in the public areas. Our room was extremely inviting and i slept like a baby. Had all the things you need to have a pleasant stay.
Breakfast was delicious and offered a wide variety of choice. Restaurant staff were a delight.
The location is perfect to explore the local area with so many places just a stones throw away. Places like Glastonbury, Wells and Cheddar are so easy to get to. Plus with a spot of shopping at clarks village. Perfect base. Will definitely return.
- Brian (8/5): - Good clean hotel.
- David (6/5): - The hotel is just really dated, the tredmill wasnt working.

- Mair (6/5): Ok - Location TV poor quality unclear picture (visible lines shadowing screen) uncomfortably small double bed
- Karen (8/5): - Nice but needs updating. Shower/bath kinda broken but good pressure and hot
- Edgar (8/5): -
- Michelle (10/5): - Bed was very comfortable
- Rebecca (7/5): Great location very dated property - It was in great location with convenient bar and restaurant It was very dated and so hot inside the room. There was a not saying fans available but they just blow around warm air anyway.
- Andrew (8/5): -
- R1650RZmatthewd (10/5): Clean, comfortable & a pleasant stay. - A very enjoyable experience, from the seamless check-in to a very enjoyable breakfast.
Rooms are clean & spacious at this purpose built hotel, ample free parking provided, staff were very welcoming & informative.
Full English breakfast that i ordered in the morning was of very good quality & hot .
I found the Hotel to have a very relaxed atmosphere.
I would definitely stay again when next in the area.
Thank you for a lovely stay.
- Sean (10/5): - beide ontbijt en vriendelijke personeel beviel goed warme kamer, in de nacht zou er wat koele lucht in de kamer geblazen kunnen worden als ventilatie.
- Jason (9/5): -
- Scott (8/5): -
- Compass53375494140 (10/5): Wonderful stay - I just returned from a stay with my family and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the Wessex Hotel. The staff couldnât do enough for us, the rooms clean and breakfast good. Thank you all!
- Gary (9/5): -
- Susan (10/5): Was relaxed ready for journey home - Relaxing plenty of space in rooms Space calming
- anthony (1/5): Poop for a hotel - Location Everything room was not clean ,paintwork peeling and cracked wallpaper peeling off the walls in places, carpet sticky in places advise wearing shoes or slippers all the time ,shower rail loose and rusty, write your name in the dust on the room units
Overall poor for the money
- Linda (10/5): -
- Julie (6/5): - The staff were friendly and helpful but the bedroom was very dated and musty. The separate toilet did not smell good at all. For ÂŁ150 for the night we expected much better.
- Jo (7/5): -
- Jamie (5/5): -
- LUCIEN (8/5): assez bien - Chambre vieillote mais propre petit déjeuner
- Verified traveler (6/5): Last Minute Book - We had to book this last hotel last minute due to other property we had booked seeming to be a scam so was looking for anywhere close to stay as already in the area.
Hotel is very dated but the staff were very friendly.
The room was at the front so very noisy with traffic and as the day was hot had to have all the windows open but the room was also so hot with underfloor heating on in the bathroom and the radiators which could not be turned off.
Breakfast was good and again waiting staff very friendly.
Hotel just needs a good revamp and the heating situation really does need attention.
- Avril (3/5): Not a good start. - Convenient for Millfield School. The room was filthy. It hadn't been dusted for weeks. The floor hadn't been hoovered. This was rectified within a few minutes after we complained .We also got compensation of a free breakfast.
- j m (8/5): nice place to stay in - quiet nothing
- Philip (10/5): -
- Gavin (8/5): -
- Kim (9/5): Very conveniently located hotel, price reasonable for the area - Breakfast was okay, cooked well. The room was clean and spacious, bed fairly comfortable and with blackout curtains. The cooked breakfast had an item limit which wasn't stated on the menu. No issues with the limit, but it would have been good to have that stated beforehand.
