Guest Reviews
- ISHITSUKA (3/5): 二度と宿泊したくない - ガラス窓一つでセキュリティが怖い。
- Philippe (9/5): -
- Jonas (8/5): Bra läge och kul rum - Bra läge i trevlig stad.
Ta med egen kudde och du bor på hotellet, dessa var stenhårda. I övrigt trevlig personal och mkt bra läge och kul rum i en gammal vinkällare
- Tamera (10/5): A gem in Alba - Super nice accommodations. Wonderful bed and pillows. My only slight complaint was there were no windows in the space- ventilation was minimal.. but it would not deter me from going back.
- Gunnel (6/5): - Very basic hotel, did not live up to the pictures on the website. Difficult to find, no parking. Friendly personnel helped up a bit, also that it is situated right in the centre of the old town.
- Keith (10/5): - Charming, quaint and very welcoming
- Sidney Darrow (10/5): Clean, quiet and centrally located - Our hostess was very friendly and helpful. It was centrally located and parking was only a five minute walk away. The place was clean and quiet. I would stay here again.
- Karim (10/5): - Fantastisk fint lille sted
- Ralph (10/5): Great location - A nice place close by to everything. Run by some great people. Location is near the center of town and everywhere was easily accessible by walking.
- frode (10/5): Trivelig hotell i Alba, topp beliggenhet - Veldig trivelig lite hotell. veldig bra beliggenhet. Veldig hyggelig personale.
- K7808ONjohnb (2/5): Great location but avoid this motel at all costs - Great location near center of
Alba. Our first floor rooms were musty, small with no TV or fridge.
Motel had led my booking agent to believe free breakfast was included but it was not.
Nights were very chilly and the heat would not work. Consequently, we asked for an extra blanket and we received an extra sheet for each room.
Upon checkout we were charged $12 Euro/Night per room for their use..$48euro for 2 nights/2 rooms.
No free parking but a public lot with cost is about 4 blocks away.
Coffee shop is adjoined to office. Coffee at a cost is available but food is not good.
Outside of location, No reason to stay at this old motel,
- Michael (10/5): Wonderful - Alba is a delightful place and Casa Dellatorre captures its essence. It is perfectly situated in the old part of the city. The two ladies that were are hosts, Lilliana and Luisella are absolutely delightful!
- CLAUDIA (10/5): - Two very nice sisters are running this cosy place.
The room was very stylish decorated, the bathroom the same.
Very clean all over.
The breakfast was offered with tasty varieties in their own Cafe. Locals are coming here to have their first espresso before starting their day.
You feel not like in an hotel, you are a part of the community.
Thank you very much to make us feel like at home.
- Veronica (10/5): - Complimenti soprattutto per la cortesia dell' accoglienza
- Jane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hans-Jürg (10/5): - Super Zimmer
- laggan001 (4/5): Avoid this hotel: Over-expensive breakfast of poor quality and minimal quantity - Positive:
Good position in old town and the simple rooms are just about acceptable in quality although our shower head was so loose it was virtually unusable. Pleasant owners.
Negative:
We had very negative feelings for this establishment as its breakfast was extremely expensive (20 euros per person) for a minimalist breakfast of poor quality (1 x croissant, one small jar of yoghurt, 1 x small bowl of mass-market cheap cereal and a tiny selection of cut fruit and a single coffee)
Overall recommendation: Avoid this establishment due to rip-off food/drink prices and ordinary rooms
- Nancy (10/5): - Such a charming, special place! We wished we could have stayed longer. We loved Alba and absolutely loved this sweet little inn which was very central.
- Jaime (10/5): - Excelente todo!
- Giovanni (7/5): Good -
- KajaD26 (10/5): Authentic - Incredibly cozy bed and breakfast. Clean, and the staff was very nice. A true Italian experience located in the heart of the city. Entrance through a connected café, which had really good food and pastries.
- madslyngbyo (10/5): A very cozy and relaxed small hotel - A very cozy and relaxed small hotel. My family and I so enjoyed our stay at Casa Dellatorre and we will definitely come back another time. The rooms are beautiful and the staff is friendly and very helpful. We also had breakfast in the lovely café and it was absolutely delicious
- Joanna (10/5): Fantastiskt! - Fantastiskt bra hotell. Nära till allt. Bra service. Litet och familjärt!
- Kelly (10/5): Great stay in Alba! - It was a delightful room with a cute restaurant. The location was perfect and close to everything. Our room was clean, spacious, and quiet.
- AlysLewis (10/5): Excellent. Wonderful place and immaculate - Wonderful and charming place in centre of Alba. Amazing and beautiful decor, immaculately clean and really unique from other hotels we’ve stayed. Perfect location and lovely hosts and highly recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Gorgeous rooms and lovely helpful staff. We got lost when we first arrived and a staff member located us and took us to the property! Rooms were quiet, comfortable beds and good sized bathrooms. 5 min walk to all the action of the city centre. We would definitely stay here again.
- KatrinaMolini (10/5): Very satisfied - Such a marvelous stay. The place is located right in the center, one short block away from the main street where cute stores and boutiques are located, and about a 5-minute walk from the main square, Piazza Duomo. The entrance to the hotel is through the café. The lady who greeted us was very nice, she helped me to carry my clothes and showed us to the room. It was in the back and had a little charming yard with tables and chairs. You can smoke there if you like. The room itself was very beautiful. Please check the pictures. The floor doesn’t have a carpet but it’s warm (heated). If you don’t like walking on the floor barefoot, take slippers with you. The TV is very small and quite far away from the bed (it had a Russian channel too, by the way) but we don’t really watch tv or stay in the room long when we travel. The bathroom has a shower cabin. A few amenities provided (soap bar, lovely shampoo and shower gel and also, unexpectedly, contact lens solution). I was glad I took a hair conditioner with me. Sincerely, I would substitute contact lens solution with a hair conditioner. I had contacts before and you always go everywhere with your solution. It’s like breathing. Most likely nobody from the guests will need it for a long time. While the conditioner is a must for the most women (and some men too). Just a friendly advice to the hotel :)
The next day we also had a breakfast that was included in the stay. We asked for 9 AM and when we showed up at the lovely café at 9:09 it was already served. We appreciated that because we had an appointment somewhere else after that. It was a perfect breakfast: fresh focaccia genovese and prosciutto cotto (ham), fresh warm croissants with apricot jam, fresh fruit and berries, freshly squeezed orange juice and made to order cappuccino. Everything extremely simple but delicious and just the right amount! Loved it! The decor of the sitting room is cute too. It has a bit of a French vibe, which, of course, is logical considering the geographical location of the region. So, to sum it up- great location, great room, great breakfast, great service! Recommended for those who would like to stay at a place with a character and a personal touch.
- Edward (8/5): great location and service. - Everything is very nice about this place, but it's not really a hotel, more like a small inn. If you don't need to park a car it's great, nice location, lovely rooms with real beds, very clean and comfortable.
- londond772 (10/5): Beautiful small Cafe - We’ve been here a day before, by walking through the small alleys.
We had some awesome espresso and some cookie. The cafe is small but with nice and cozy furniture. Staff is really friendly and taking care of little things.
Next day we decided to have a small breakfast, which was bigger in the end than expected...ordered the breakfast with fruits and focaccia (18€) and some green tea. Everything is served fresh and delicious.
You can have a room as well, but it’s fully booked at the weekends, suggest to book early.
Finally, it’s worth a visit. Highly recommended.
- NRT350 (8/5): Small but very well furnished - Beautiful room although a touch small. Very helpful staff and a great breakfast. Well located in the old town. Only public paid parking which was ok.
This is not a hotel but a boutique apartment style B&B but worked well for us. WiFi wasn't that great.
- Nefelokokigia (6/5): Charming But Oh So Noisy - This is actually an apartment building. On the ground floor is a very charming, and justifiably busy cafe, beautifully appointed, with some of the best coffee I have had in my thirty years travelling in Italy. It is owned by three sisters, who are genially enough, but on the dour side. They have three rooms total. We stayed in two over a three night period, because the first was so noisy we could not sleep between 7am and 9:30 (we stay out late, and like a nap). The two rooms we saw were charming, with lovely appointments, very good linens, good bath amenities, and ambient heating in the terrazzo floors. Both look out onto a broken up parking lot, which can also contribute to the noise. We don't eat breakfast, which is included, but it did look excellent. If you are not adverse to noise, a good sleeper, and love a charming place in the heart of the old town, this is for you (getting there can be daunting, but if you have a good GPS, you will be fine), If you are a light sleeper, get a hotel with thick walls.
- UA1KBrad (10/5): A charming small hotel conveniently located - This one is a find. Great location in the old town in the heart of the tourist activities and restaurants. Run by charming women who go the extra mile to ensure your comfort and enjoyment. The rooms was tastefully and comfortably furnished. Very quiet. Included breakfast was a flavorable treat. Would stay here again in a minute.
- theWanderingPetal (8/5): A perfect little getaway! - We chose Casa Dellatorre because of its central location within Alba and the tripadvisor reviews, and were definitely happy with our choice! The B&B is located on a narrow, cobbled street near the two main squares. We arrived by car and after dropping our bags our hostesses directed us to a nearby parking lot since there is no parking available at Casa Dellatorre. Parking was easily found and was within a few minutes walk of the B&B.
Our room was absolutely charming! You could see so much thought and care went into the room's decor from the exposed brick walls to the antique armoire, tiny upholstered chairs and embroidered linens. The small space was cozy and the bed extremely comfortable. Plus both the room and bath were spotlessly clean. The bathroom held a small glass enclosed shower, pedestal sink and antique side table which held fluffy embroidered towels and bath products.
Our room shared a common wall with the tiny cafe but there was never an issue with noise. Just outside our door were several outdoor tables and chairs but since the weather was chilly these were never in use. Its always a good sign on vacation when I don't have time to even try the Wifi so I can't comment on the connection and speed.
We so enjoyed breakfast each morning because of the charming cafe setting, our friendly hostesses and the delightful nibbles. The cappuccinos were perfect with fresh fruit and yogurt plus delicious croissants, breads and jams with a varying selection each morning.
All in all the perfect spot for our brief Alba stay. We're already looking forward to our next visit in 2015!
- themacrae (8/5): Central, Personal and Friendly - Our room was reached through the cafe and the door opened onto a small courtyard/ car park. We were greeted by all three sisters - one speaks serviceable English (better than our Italian) but we all got by. The room was dark with the double doors letting in the light but once the heavy curtains were drawn, darkness fell - we got progressively later and later for breakfast in the cafe served from 8am (9 on Sundays). Breakfast was whatever you were given but always had a meaty sandwich, croissant with jam in it, toast with nutella, juice and fruit salad - local berries one day - plus fruit yoghurt. Take your pick - coffee and tea to order. The cafe of course is a good place to have your aperitif at home before going to the main restaurant for the evening and you can sit at the little table outside your room to enjoy your campari or they offer a very good local sparkling wine. The small eats are delicious and not overwhelmingly plentiful leaving room for a later meal. The bed was large and solid - if you are over 6ft 2in you may have trouble stretching out - there is a substantial foot board. The sheets are embroidered and the bed is covered in pillows and cushions and quilts. At moments in the night when they all got very mixed up, you will wish for the simplicity of the duvet. The great feature that makes this place the one to stay is its location - within 50 yards of what may be Alba's best restaurant with a modern take on the truffle and the local dishes. We ate there twice and the sisters will make the booking here or anwhere. Otherwise you can reach the main strollling street in 50 yards in the other direction and once you have worked it all out, you realise that you are only 10 minutes or less stroll away from the station which was how we came and went, 4 nights @125€ for B&B with another 60 for drinks etc. We said our many goodbyes with regret and vowed to come back speaking better Italian.
- marleydog (10/5): A Real Gem! - We drove from the UK to Northern Italy in October, specifically for the truffle festival and wine harvest. Planned three days in Barolo and three in Alba (over an early festival weekend). We prefer low key, non-glitzy places and finally found Casa Dellatorre through TripAdvisor. Even though all the reviews were in Italian, they were 5-star and we took both to mean it was good. And it was.
The B&B is in the old middle of Alba, which is great, although not that terrific when you are driving a right-hand drive Range Rover. We found the Casa in a narrow street and one of the three sisters was in the Cafe and helped us unload our bags even though we were early for check-in. Between us we managed to create a map to locate the public parking in walking distance. Had to get help in understanding the parking ticket machine, but it turned out to be very sensible. The time elapsed in parking is only active during the time you can be charged for parking. For example, since parking is free for two hours over lunch, those two hours were not included in the charge.
The Casa is essentially a little bar/cafe with rooms. We had two on the ground floor. Not sure where the third is. Our ground floor room was very well appointed, with substantial, mostly older, furniture. A very comfortable bed, with very high quality bed linens. Bed side tables with good reading lights and a little clock radio on one. Lovely pillows. Large wardrobe. Television that had only Italian channels as far as I could tell. French doors to the outside.
The en suite bathroom was startlingly clean, white and bright. Excellent shower, basin, bidet etc. Plenty of good towels, and a reasonable selection of soap and shampoo. Some interesting small pieces that took the edge off the first clinical effect.
We could have breakfast either in the cafe, the room or on one of the little tables outside. Full version was coffee, water, OJ, croissant, bread, butter, Nutella, a ham pannini - we had that the first morning and then subsequently cut back. The cafe offered all of the above, as well as lots of other hot and cold drinks throughout the day and into the evening. A very comfortable retreat.
The "courtyard" was not as glamorous as their website shows, but we enjoyed sitting at one of the little tables for coffee during the day or a glass of wine in the late afternoon. Since it was the weekend, it got a little busy with younger locals getting together later in the day, but nothing to interfere with our enjoyment.
Good wi-fi connection from everywhere and we were able to use the Cafe printer for an emergency. The sisters had booked us dinner for each of the three nights ahead of time at the restaurants I had selected. They also arranged for us to go on a truffle "hunt" one morning. Knew it would really be a tourist event, but was worthwhile. And when we were charged 50 Euro a head instead of the described 30 Euro, Liliana went straight down the street and got all our 20 Euros back for us.
This place really suited us well - comfortable, friendly, efficient, low-key, great location and not too much English spoken (I had our reservation emails translated by a friend into Italian). It's also near the railway station which suited out friends travelling back to Paris. I hope we have the opportunity to return.
