- 1meemaw1 (2/5): Nope! - I’m surprised Wyndham hasn’t pulled the AmericInn franchise from this poorly run hotel. It was poorly maintained as you will see in the photos. Paying full price, and having many positive experiences with other AmericInn hotels, I’m surprised and disappointed. This doesn’t measure up. I should have read reviews before booking the room. I’m one of many with serious concerns. Don’t stay here!
- melissaeY6540LZ (2/5): The pool and breakfast is NOT WORTH IT - The filth, mold, mildew, dead bugs. I have always loved the AmericInn line, but this was horrible. I was offered a $35 or $37 discount, on one night and an air purifier for the room. I didn't even care. I checked out the evening I started to see all the issues. Due to horrible lighting and NO access to sunlight, there was no way to actually see the issues until I used the flashlight on my phone. Gross. I expect a little dust and what not, but nothing to this point that is actually hazardous to someone's health!

- brendasR8742OJ (2/5): Mold and damaged door - I sent pictures to the manager of mold around the bathtub, the door being taped on the outside of the door and inside of the door damaged, also the stains in the sink. I can’t believe we stayed in this hotel and then had to book for 2 nights at the cost of $500.00 for two nights!! The only thing positive was the staff were very friendly. I sent the manager two emails with pictures one she said she didn’t receive and the next email she never replied. No offer for a refund or an apology for the room. Brenda S
- Marcelina (2/5): - The morning after my stay, as I am taking off the sheets off the bed to get ready to check out. I saw that there was a giant nasty stain on the mattress, that covered more than 1/4 of the bed. If I would off seen this when I got there, I would have never stayed there. I did let the office know and I am expecting a call from the manager. I am never staying there again. Very disappointed!

- Joey (4/5): - When I got there they tried to tell me that the check in time wasn’t til 3 when I had proof of it showing it would be 2. They closed the Hot tub, if I knew that I would have stayed somewhere else. When I booked I picked a double queen but the front desk only had it as a queen room with two adults so I was upset about that. The blankets were very thing, even tho we had the ac running it barely got cold in the room, the bathroom light was flickering. Overall would not recommend staying here. Overpriced.

Comforable bed, excellent towels, comprehensive breakfast in a large area with adjacent sunny porch area for a windowed overview of the northern part of the city. Excellent staff and housekeeping made our stay very pleasant. I recommend this property.
- Mitchell (2/5): - Bad experience right from arriving. Desk person told us we were not supposed to have pets, even though it was listed on the site we reserved the room through. She made us feel like we were doing somethning wrong even though we explained it was listed on the site as a pet friendly hotel. They were also then going to charge us an extra $20 fee because we had are dog, and from this point if any buddy sneeks in a dog they will get charged a $250 fee. They said they remodeled, which basically was just an unprofessional repaint and added some new things on the walls. There is piant splattered on door frames and other stuff as well. They had dumpsters and garbage all over the parking lot from their remodel. The remodel was the reason supposedly for not allowing dogs anymore and the high price for the room. Rooms are small and very limited continental breakfast.
- NorthStar28620198651 (2/5): Not recommended - For $115/nite including weekdays, this place is substandard. The breakfast bar is not worth the walk. The entire place needs an update. The carpet is dirty and greedy like it has not been cleaned in years, disgusting! Absolutely not recommended!!

We came for the hot tub which was not in use and seemed to be out for a while with no notice. The pool area was honestly kind of gross with stains all over I used it any way because I paid to stay there.

Tried to plug in our chargers for our cellphones and several of the outlets did not work as the connections were too loose. The light bulb in the lamp above the coffee maker was out.
- 448tammies (2/5): Dire need of upgrades and a deep cleaning! - Hotel is in dire need of upgrades as well as a good cleaning! Positive: fridge worked and sheets were clean (or at least appeared to be) Negative: mold in tub, dust on end tables, sticky handprints on wardrobe, human and dog hair on carpet floorboards. Breakfast: no waffle maker and when my husband and I went down at 7:30am there was one egg and a couple pieces of bacon. Not once did an employee check to see what foods were empty. Front desk person had a "no care" attitude about our stay or if we needed assistance. Employees were more concerned with chit chat with each other vs actually doing their job.

We have always stayed at the Americinn by Windham,and have never been disappointed.

- klowers09 (2/5): Yikes!! - Was upgraded to a bigger room with pull out sofa. Management scolded us the next day for pulling it out and sleeping on it. Due to it being new and not meant for sleeping on. Management admitted to snooping through room while family was gone to make sure we weren't sneaking people in. Then back tracked and said it was Housekeeping. Even though no cleaning was done during our stay. Which is why were asking for extra shampoo/towels daily.

- Curious56501185991 (8/5): Incredible customer service & spacious rooms - The rooms are very spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable. I would have appreciated some additional outlet options, but we made it work. The location of this hotel is excellent as there are resources close by and Duluth is an easy drive for any touristy things. The best part of this AmericInn is the staff. Everyone we encountered was incredible.

Lipstick case under/next to bed. Hallway smelled like greasy food/onions. Breakfast in food warmers seemed days old. Couldn't get a rate reduction due to not booking with the hotel itself.
- Pete_B_Ohio (10/5): Great Cloquet hotel - would recommend! - We enjoyed our time in Cloquet at the AmericInn. The staff was great, breakfast good, room clean and property very convenient for us to vacation in the Northland area. We visited relatives, toured the area including Jay Cooke State Park, Canal Park in Duluth, boating, and more. We enjoyed Perkins, Gordy's Hi Hat, Sammy's Pizza, Family Traditions restaurants and seeing our relatives. The FL Wright gas station was a favorite too - full service! We will be back. Thank you.

- 351elsiet (2/5): Would not stay here ever - The room smelled strongly of chemicals. The pictures do not represent the hotel honestly. It is old and dark and I did not feel safe. Checked out because of that and they kept $200 of my funds. Jared was lovely. I tried to explain to the manager what happened only to be told that there would be no refund. She never picked up the phone to hear what I had to say but inferred that I may not be telling the truth. Safety is paramount to single women travelers. The chemical smell was extremely strong and I knew I could not tolerate it. After working 20 years in the hospitality field I understand how to assist folks. The manager did not. Contacting th executive offices of Wyndham did help. Sherri clearly understands the importance of customer care.
- nobe (4/5): Would not stay here again - It is in need of refurbishing. The tub drain was rusty. I did not feel safe in this hotel because of the sign on the front door which said they did not accept walk ins after 11 p.m. and the door would be locked. If you were a guest they asked you to use another door with your key card.
- caliowa (10/5): Overnight stop - We stayed the night of May 18th on way to Canada with fishing boat in tow. Checked in late. Desk manager was so kind and helpful in getting us situated in a spot in parking lot. It’s an older hotel, but everything was very clean and beds comfortable. Shower great. We had our small dog with us. $20 fee which is so cheap compared to other spots we’ve stayed at. Nice selection of breakfast items. Relaxing stay - it will be a go-to for our future overnight stays in this area.
- mwcounihan (2/5): Stay in Duluth and drive into Cloquet! - Paint is peeling on the outside and the rooms were not cleaned well. The heater rattled all night. For $30 more a night you can stay at a boutique 4 star hotel with awesome customer service. Not worth the $130 a night….

- tinagF6892XV (8/5): Great staff, average hotel - What makes this hotel good is the friendly, helpful staff. The rooms were clean, but had some maintenance issues with lights and outlets that didn't work. Breakfast options were limited, but the hours were long.
- nikkihuntington (10/5): Great place to stay - Wonderful staff and clean hotel! They helped me with all my needs and were very friendly with my disabled son! Great location close travel for any needs u may have! Rooms were clean as well as the pool area well maintained!
- klaureano (10/5): We would stay here again!! - Our stay was WONDERFUL and we would 100% stay here again anytime we are passing through. The room was clean, fairly priced, and quiet. Jared at the front desk was incredibly kind and welcoming upon arrival. The hot breakfast was very good, too! Thank you, AmericInn, for making our last minute trip to the North Shore easy and comfortable.
- 892debd (10/5): Excellent hotel - Very easy check in and check out, clean rooms and breakfast areas, staff very nice and helpful. Breakfast is one of the best in any hotel stay I've had. I stayed here before a year ago and knew it was a very good hotel and it remains so this time! I'll definitely stay again when back in the area.
- 57Page (10/5): Classic Car Fall Weekend - Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable rooms. Jared went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed which made for an enjoyable stay. Only suggestion would be to have larger TV's.
- 504stevene (10/5): Very nice. Will stop again - Fantastic friendly greeting when we arrived and registered. Room very good. Super quiet on this Thursday night. Glad hot breakfasts are back. It was modest but adequate. Just a walk across the parking lot for supper at Perkins. Will definitely stay here again when in the area.
- willyw709 (2/5): accused of smoking pot in our room.... - our room was nice, clean, AC worked well. My kiddos enjoyed the breakfast the next morning. Check in was good, I don't remember the young man's name but was nice and welcoming. Same with the check out. until.... My family and I stayed one night on our way back from visiting family 6 hours away from where we live. On our drive home, I received a notification that my credit card was charged $250.00 from AmericInn. I called to find out what was going on with this new charge and the snotty from desk help says, "Well you were smoking pot in your room, and it was verified by a manager!" I told her ABSOLUTELY NOT and asked to speak with the manager, she (the front desk help) said she would have the manager contact me. We returned home with still no phone call back from the manager. I called again and spoke with a different front desk helper. She was very nice and understanding of what was going on. She then called the manager to get call back instructions for the next day. The manager Gloria did call me the next day and accused me and my family (my mother and 3 kids) of smoking pot in our room. I told her, "I was absolutely 100% sure there was no one in our room smoking pot." she then asked if someone else had a key to our room or if we had visitors that were smoking in the room, i assured her once again there was no one in the room other than myself, my mother, and my 3 kids. she avoided giving me a solution to this issue of the accusations by changing the subject and asking me if there was brownies or muffins smashed into the carpet in the room, I said no there was not, the only crumbs that were left were on the bed and i know that for a fact because my 5 yr. old sat next to me while eating a chocolate donut. I did a once over in the room looking for anything my kids may have left behind after packing things up and there was nothing ground into the carpet anywhere in the room. so, I asked Gloria how we were going to fix this accusation that i was absolutely appalled by? She was silent for a while and finally mumbled under her breath that she would take the $250.00 charge off my card this one time. I also ask why I did not get a phone call questioning these allegations and again that question was ignored. I still have yet to see the charge be taken off my credit card, so I had to contact my bank and dispute the charges... NEVER AGAIN WILL I STAY WITH AMERICINN! I'm still just appalled by this.
- grvmllr (10/5): Felt like coming home! - My stay was a getaway for myself for a few days. From the front desk to the housekeepers, to maintenance; all are extremely helpful and friendly. The room was exceptionally clean, and everyone made sure my home away from home was stress free. Thank you to all for your excellent service!

- Erika (4/5): - First I had a booked through Expedia here, expecting to pay when I get to the hotel, someone from the hotel called and HOUNDED, me for my method of payment. Why have the option to pay at the hotel, when that wasn’t the case, on top of that, the card I gave wasn’t the card I wanted to pay with, she charged the card full price before I even got to the hotel and even explained to her, you can have it on file, but this isn’t the one I’d like to pay with. Not a good experience before we even got there. Now check in was fine. I just was very disappointed in my room, compared to other Americans this hotel wasn’t as nice as others, not updated, old features, small tv, and the bed was horrendous, was not a comfortable stay. Also, the surrounding area doesn’t have a lot of choice for DoorDash or any thing like that, so be prepared to buy a lot of snacks. We won’t be staying here again, way too expensive for the quality. I’d rather drive from Duluth and spend the same amount of money. I stayed here 5-6 years ago for a funeral, and it was a very nice hotel, I guess standards haven’t been held.
- James (6/5): Charged up but left chargerless - The room had a damp smell to it. Everything worked fine. Left behind a phone charger and called a day later and it was no where to be found. Had to buy new one. Not happy about that but apparently someone needed it more than me.

It would be nice to get the breakfast back as the over the counter stuff doesn't cut it.They should add a 2nd set of curtains to windows as the ones that close don't close all the way and allow for someone from the outside to peak in. very unnerving to say the least.
- ERIC (10/5): - Only thing I did not like was it did not have a hot tub. The room was great as was the rest of the hotel. I'm glad they served a hot breakfast. The other AmericInn we stayed at in Cloquet was not nearly as nice as this one. The room was big, clean, updated, and the bedding was a lot more comfortable.

- Charlotte (6/5): Don't bother - Check-in was great, very nice older lady who gave restaurant recommendations, etc. From there, it was downhill. Room smelled musty and old, bathroom is tiny. Tried to swim at 8am Thursday morning when pool opened, only to be told it was closed for weekly cleaning and would be done about 9am. Came back down at 9am, and cleaning hadn't even started yet. With check-out at 11am, that meant no swimming, which is one of the only reasons I booked this place. Hello...I have a 4-year old! The lady argued with me that there is other times to swim, even though we were only there the one night. Breakfast = almost non-existent. You can ask for a muffin and fruit at the front desk. We walked next door and had a wonderful experience at Perkins! Would not stay at this outdated and overpriced hotel again.
