Guest Reviews
- Judith (9/5): A wonderful expertence all around -
- Marianna (10/5): Great! - Beautiful surroundings, excellent helpful staff. Highly recommended
- David (9/5): Idyllic Location and a great place to stay - This was a beautiful location and one we greatly enjoyed. Our room was spacious and delightful (Kingfisher). Staff assisted us to carry heavy bags up the stairs. The breakfasts were superb. There were many great activities close by and the setting was delightful. We can't compliment the place enough. Having good parking was a big bonus. Nothing - we had a lovely stay and wished we were there longer.

- Lyn (8/5): Perfect for a weekend away in the sunshine. - Location location.location.
On the banks of the Wye. Beautiful old Inn with plenty of outdoor seating. Lots of Young staff who worked extremely hard. Rooms were comfortable. Couldn’t find too much on the menu in the ‘affordable’ price bracket other than burgers and pizza…but both burgers and pizzas were delicious.
- Jamie (10/5): Amazing location, really helpful staff and really good room - Location

- Claire (9/5): Lovely comfortable stop over in a beautiful location - Excellent food and Service. Easy parking. Great views and fantastic location with lovely walk from the door. Space to put soap in shower
- Anthony (10/5): Very good stay - Super nice location, the room was great and clean with perfect view on the river wye !
Early checkin was made possible which was of great help for us :)
Great breakfast as well Nothing. Just a small lack of communication (chat + call) before the checkin as we didn't get confirmation of the cotbed being available and if early check in was possible
- Glenda (10/5): - Beautiful looking place ,excellent location. Nothing
- Samantha (10/5): Ye Olde Ferrie Inn - The view from the room was perfect. The room itself was clean and the bed was comfortable. Although we were clearly visiting during a very busy period the staff were still very helpful and cheerful Very steep stairs to the room but this is an old property so is not a surprise really.
- Ryan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (9/5): Fabulous place, fabulous food, fabulous staff - will definitely stay there again - Beautiful property in an amazing area next to the River Wye - literally there was ramp down to the river just off the patio/deck area. Restaurant was fabulous - best steak I have had for a while. Really good wine selection and lots of craft beers. Staff were very friendly and helpful and on the Saturday night they even had live music on the patio area. Only having a double bed was a bit of a shame as we are used to King or Super King, however the bed was very comfortable just a bit small. The stairs to the rooms were very tiny with narrow treads meaning we had to walk sideways down the stairs to fit our feet on them. However this all seemed to add to the charm of the Inn.
- Anne (9/5): Gaze at the Wye from your bedroom window and stroll along it after a delicious diner. - Wonderful views of the river Wye. God evening meal. Relaxed atmosphere with helpful friendly staff.
- Defoe (9/5): Superb - Location beautiful. Views of River Eye super picturesque. Steep flights of stairs to room
- Harry (7/5): Very enjoyable. Friendly and efficient staff, beautiful setting. - Good breakfast. Very slow to arrive though and had to ask for toast as it wasn’t on the menu.
Location is excellent; on river, quiet and beautiful views. Dirty and ragged staircase carpet. Very steep stairs, small shower cubicle.
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Leslie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christopher (7/5): Poor sleep impacted a beautuful escape - Location, staff, decor and cleanliness were spot on. Expections should be set more clearly for a small double bed and noisy environment. A lovely experience spoilt only by the bed being too small for a couple to get a good nights sleep. There was also a loud noise in the end room during the evening which interpted a pre-dinner snooze (perhaps a kitchen fan?). It stopped later on.
A truly lovely stay marred only by trying not to roll out of bed and the intrusive noise. I can't remember the room name, it began with a D and was on the end.
- Helen (9/5): Superb -
- Meg (10/5): Exceptional - It was the type of old country inn you hope for but rarely find. The food was delicious and there was no better place for a quiet beer than their riverside terrace. Sit back and soak in the beauty of this pretty part of the Wye Valley. Pack light - the ancient stairs do not accommodate suitcases, but the charming bedrooms are worth the climb.
- Catherine (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jamie (10/5): Lovely peaceful place with exceptional food - The scenery is beautiful and the food is exceptional. My wife is caeliac and at least half the men was gluten free so for once we were spoilt for choice for her . Excellent place to stay and eat Nothing
- Lhasa (10/5): Really lovey staff and beautiful location - Really wonderful staff and gorgeous room and location
- David (8/5): Lovely spot on the River Wye - Wonderful location by the river. Nice dinner in the hotel in the evening, and good breakfast.
- Dorian (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff, nice restaurant and great location.
- Phil (10/5): Stunning location, great food and superb staff. Will definitely revisit. - The location was fantastic, double aspect room looking upstream and downstream, beautiful! Breakfast was amazing as were the evening meals, and the staff were all friendly and welcoming. Beware the potholes on the narrow access road, these could easily be fixed. There was an intermittent plumbing air lock noise from another room that disturbed our sleep on the first night. Shower room was cramped but adequate.
- Blayne (9/5): Great for a solo traveller. Friendly staff. Yummy food - Fabulous location. Idillic to say the least. Lovely food. Good selection of ciders. Nothing really.
- Kulleseid (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Johnston-smith (10/5): Amazing - So friendly and great food Nothing, it was all great… our favourite place and have already booked 2 more separate dates to come back
- Aiden (10/5): Exceptional - Perfectly situated in the Wye Valley, Stunning property, excellent staff, they couldn’t do enough for you.
Easy come and easy go.
Excellent food and service too!
Super friendly corner of the UK
Highly recommend to outdoor goers Just be mindful of the stairs up to the rooms, and that’s really having to pick a fault out of almost a perfect place to stay
- Susan (10/5): We had a very relaxing Easter Break! - Fantastic location, room was dual aspect with great Riverside views. Immaculately clean. Very friendly and helpful staff. Two constructive comments...,
There is a need for an electrical point closer to the dressing table in Doward, for use with the hairdryer, or maybe just provide a PAT tested extension lead.
Personal choice l understand, but I found the duvet a tad too warm for the time of year. Maybe just add a top sheet underneath the duvet, if a lightweight duvet isn't available?
- Teresa (9/5): It was fantastic and we highly recommend the place. - Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely location. Wonderful countryside. Comfortable room. Delicious food. Super little ferry to take us across the River Wye. We liked it all.
- Carolyn (9/5): Superb - Comfortable big room with beautiful views. Fantastic evening meal and great choice of breakfasts. Lovely staff. Nothing
- Hill (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helen (10/5): Amazing place to explore, eat and relax. - The location is gorgeous, just on the banks of the River Wye. Our room had an amazing double aspect view of the river. The staff were really friendly and helpful, the service was great. We ate really well, breakfast and dinner were delicious. There is a link on the pub website to YOFI Paddlesports who have base in the car park which meant it was really easy to make the most of exploring the location via the river. We are both tall - a slightly longer bed with an updated mattress would be great, that being said we still slept well.
Maybe something a little lighter on the main breakfast menu like berries and yoghurt. The dishes on the breakfast menu are very good, its just for me my appetite isn't all that big in the morning. I was able to ask for parts of what was on the menu though, which was great.
- Anne (10/5): Excellent accommodation & food - Wonderful location
Great room with river view
Staff were extremely attentive from the moment we walked in the door was greeted by my name, they knew we were staying. Assisted with our bags
Food in pub was excellent & great choice
Nothing was too much
All the staff were fantastic
Great customer service
Highly recommend
- Ruth (9/5): Fabulous location with stunning views and food. - Fabulous location and fantastic food! Bathroom was very compact and room was up steep stairs. However, this wasn’t a problem for us at all.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tom (5/5): A nice spot, great food, but the very noisy plumbing meant we came away feeling poorly rested! - The staff were very friendly, and the location alongside the river was stunning. Clean rooms. Great food served too. Sadly, the room we were in (Doward) was right next to the extractor fan from the kitchen which meant until 22:00 and from 08:00 there was a loud noise in the room. After a long week at work, We hoped for an early night and a lie-in, that didn't go to plan! And then unfortunately, the plumbing in our room made a very very loud foghorn noise whenever we used the taps, waking one of us up. It then went off again in the middle of the night, perhaps due to another guest using their loo and so running water through the pipes. We were expecting a bit of noise from nearby rooms, which is normal in a property as old as this, but it meant we both had very unsettled night's sleep. We appreciated £25 off the price of the room, but really, until this plumbing issue is fixed, the room shouldn't be booked out - perhaps ring to check with the property before booking this room. A real shame, as otherwise, it is a lovely place to stay.
- Paul (8/5): Nice olde pub, stunning location, a lovely 3-night break! - We had a nice 3-night stay at Ye Old Ferrie Inn, which is a lovely old pub and we were pleased to have a double aspect room for us to enjoy the views all the way down the river. It truly is a stunning and magical location.
The room itself was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay.
All the staff were lovely and always wanted to know if there was anything they could for us.
The food was also good, we had breakfast each morning and ate at the pub on two of the evenings.
In terms of the location, there are amazing walks on the doorstep. We spent a whole day doing a 15km walk to King Arthur’s Cave, Seven Sisters Rocks, and over the rope bridge to Yat Rock… and then made our way back from there with a hydration stop at Saracens Head. The shower was very small, difficult to move around in and the power of the water coming out wasn’t particularly great. However it was functional and we appreciate it’s an old building and the ability to make a bigger shower without compromising elsewhere is difficult.
We felt the breakfast options could’ve been a little better considering the room rate, which we appreciate we are paying a premium for the stunning location, however when I asked about the yoghurt selection the only option was strawberry. For £150 p/night I would expect at a minimum there to be a selection, but maybe a nice touch would be some Greek/natural yoghurt with a selection of fruits/nuts would be a nice addition.
The stairs to our room on the top floor were a little awkward and potentially difficult for someone less mobile, so double check this with the team before booking if you need a room for someone less able bodied. I would recommend making this clear for people when they’re booking.
This is not a complaint but just some constructive feedback for the team to consider taking on board. Overall we had a lovely stay and would definitely consider returning on another trip to Wye Valley.
- Martin (8/5): Very good -
- Camellia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bodjac89 (9/5): Superb -
- Charles (8/5): Very good -
- Kathryn (10/5): Perfect place to stay and enjoy Symonds Yat and for exploring the surrounding area. - Lovely old but well looked after Inn in a beautiful location, rooms warm, comfortable and clean with excellent views of the river. Staff very friendly and welcoming and the meals were delicious.
- Julian (10/5): Fantastic - The location was fantastic so peaceful and the breakfast was delicious
- Sam (8/5): Very good -
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Jess (10/5): Exceptional -
- Neil (8/5): Very good - Perfect location with excellent view from our room. Good food, good service. Initially no parking available and had to park in muddy field for which there was a charge. When we arrived, we were asked to wait near the door and someone would be with us. No one came.
- Tony (9/5): Lovely would definitely return and recommend - View from room was fantastic, and very spacious.
Even though it was at a pub it was very quiet.
Food amazing, fantastic breakfast and fresh milk for morning coffee.
Fantastic walks nearby. Narrow road when approaching property.
- Philip (8/5): Rain didn't stop play!!! - Loved the situation the peacefulness and the views from our room were so relaxing. plenty of outside sitting areas to enjoy the river views and a good pint👍 Staff were all really friendly and the food was really good. loved everything about our stay except the weather.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic location, fantastic staff, fantastic food! Only a couple of minor issues, but that didn't spoil anything. Would have preferred the toast coming out with the full English not before and probably should have asked for more coffee would have been great if we got offered.
- Maxine (10/5): Our best Booking.com hotel so far. - Everything! Nothing.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (8/5): A very enjoyable short break in a beautiful setting - All food was very good. The location was excellent close to the river although access was quite an experience and a 4x4 vehicle is useful! Public areas were presented well but guest areas of the inn were looking tired.
- Rachel (9/5): Superb - Beautiful room overlooking the Wye. Staff really good in both hotel and restaurant, relaxed but organised and attentive.
- Charlotte (9/5): Incredible place - if you are lucky enough to stay here, make sure it is for more than 1 day, - What a stunning place to stay - having a room with 2 windows to have a dual aspect of the River Wye was an absolute delight. The room was more than adequate, the bed super comfortable, tea/coffee facilities were top tier. To have fresh milk in little glass bottles was a joy, and given by the staff whenever you asked. Ensuite was compact but clean and tidy, having dressing gowns as well was a really treat.
Dinner and breakfast were both incredible - the ingredients were fresh, local and the chefs clearly very talented.
All the staff were super friendly, helpful, knowledgeable.
We didn't want to leave, we wish we had booked to stay for at least 2 nights. Nothing we didn't like - all I would suggest is having a small fridge in the rooms (for the milk overnight).
Also for the bathrooms - I would suggest a cup/tumbler for toothbrushes.
- Fisher (10/5): We absolutely fell in love with the venue, staff were so friendly and helpful and chefs really outdid themselves, the st - Ample parking, we arrived late at night, the staff even called us to find out if we were ok. Woke up the next day with the best view we could ever ask for. Nothing to complain about it was perfect
- Craig (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verity (10/5): A most enjoyable and restoring stay. Felt really relaxed after out visit. - A beautiful location. The staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful. A lovely location. Delicious food.
- Malcolm (10/5): Dinner and a few drinks both nights. Fabulous atmosphere from a great team. Relaxed and without any of the modern day no - Obviously the location but also the whole feel of the place.
- Nickson (10/5): Exceptional - The staff and owner where excellent, nothing was too much trouble. They where all very friendly and also happy.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - The views were so lovely, relaxing place to stay the staff were so friendly the food was excellent . Definitely come back again There is nothing to dislike about the stay. Excellent and a peaceful weekend away

- Belinda (10/5): Exceptional - Fabulous location, good parking. Very welcoming and helpful staff, all of them. Varied menu, good food. Excellent cocktail bar. The room was fabulous, corner room with views on both sides. Lots of extras included. Truly wonderful stay, we wished we could stay longer
- James (8/5): A very pleasant interlude with well prepared food, a comfortable bedroom and friendly staff. - Very good choice at breakfast and dinner and food was very well cooked and presented. Much better than many Inns or pub restaurants. The lack of a soft seating area inside the Inn except as part of the restaurant area.
- Gill (9/5): would definitely return - location was wonderful, view from the room was beautiful.
breakfast was lovely and we had an evening meal there too which was also spot-on.
staff were so attentive, friendly and always there on hand.
the canoeing was a bonus and the walk to the rope bridge was enjoyable (albeit further than we were told!!!!) the bathroom was a little on the small side but we didn't spend a lot of time in our room anyway!!
- Kersley (9/5): Superb -
- Keith (9/5): Great food in a lovely location with friendly staff. - Excellent food for both dinner and breakfast. A slightly earlier check-in time. 4pm is quite late after a long journey.
- Sally (9/5): Brilliant staff, location and food - Wonderful staff. Location is brilliant. Had such a lovely feel about the place. Nothing
- David (10/5): A great location with stunning scenery - The location was perfect set in a quiet riverside location. I suspect on a hot day the hotel would be busy with day travellers but mid week this would not be an issue. The staff were first class, very helpful and welcoming
- Adelaide (8/5): Loved our little stay at YOFI. The staff were wonderful and the facility was very clean. Only complaints are at the hote -
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional, staff are a credit to the business. - Location, cleanliness, facilities, beds, staff, food, beer, wine. The stairs are steep man!
- Gaynor (9/5): Perfect - Excellent location and facilities Nothings
- Andrew (10/5): A lovely, congenial stay in an inn at ease in its own skin. Mark Williams a real star. - Location was incomparable absolutely fabulous.
Breakfast, and all meals, were well executed and table service was excellent. Music a bit loud, but it was done by 11:00 and all good taste.
- Bryan (9/5): Lovely spot for a short holiday exploring the Wye Valley. - Lovely riverside location. Good restaurant and bar. A couple of tips: I stayed in May and the restaurant (and therefore car park) were very busy Friday and Saturday evenings. If you are arriving those days I would recommend arriving early to park in the free hotel car park and book a table for the evening, There is an overflow parking area which is not owned by the hotel and for which there is a parking charge.
- Rae (10/5): Exceptional - The room was just lovely. So clean and comfortable with a stunning view. The whole building has such character and charm and is beautifully decorated. The staff were wonderful and couldn't do enough to make our stay a great experience. The food was superb at every meal and we had no need to go out to eat. The whole thing was fantastic and to top it all the river is really beautiful. Having a delicious breakfast watching ducks, geese and a kingfisher was just splendid. Nothing. It was a fantastic place to stay and to eat at and we're looking forward to going back one day.
- Jeremy (8/5): Very good -
- Deborah (3/5): Disappointing - B/Fast good and service.
Location excellent Dinner very disappointed. Service no smiles ! Sat for 45 mins after ordering with no-one coming to our table to see if all ok . However, manager gave us complimentary dinner and apologised. 2 male staff and person behind the bar very nice. Asked for early check in approx 45 mins before scheduled time but given a blunt No ! (This was at 3 pm )
- Helen (8/5): Very good -
- Caroline (8/5): Nice place to stop for a night - Lovely location, adventure to find down the hill and then see the amazing views and beautiful river Bed and bathroom too small for 2 tall people in the Doward room
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely old pub, friendly staff and superb food, couldn’t fault anything.
Thank you!
- J (9/5): Excellent - Location
- Alan (10/5): Fooking amazing - This place is amazing, the location is just fabulous, Jamie and his team are so very friendly and welcoming to you , it’s like you have been going for years , the food there is excellent and fantastic, the facilities around there are amazing to , super happy 😃 N/a
- Margaret (9/5): One night stay - Bedroom very good size with outlook over river and wooded hills. Good sized en-suite. Good supply of packaged drinks, plus a Tassimo machine in room. Very comfy bed. Restaurant overlooking river. Room on 2nd floor accessed by very narrow and steep stairs.
No lounge area.
- Ann-marie (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely room and view plus exceptional food. Would love to stay again sometime. Nothing

- Lainey (10/5): Had an amazing time here. Just awesome - Cannot Fault a thing It was perfect
- Nick (8/5): Very good - Fantastic view. Lovely staff. Great atmosphere in bar. Stair access to top floors steep and narrow.
- Sally (8/5): Really nice place in beautiful surroundings. - The view from our room was amazing . The staff were always friendly and looked after us well. Everywhere was immaculately clean . We really enjoyed our stay. Few small things in room would make it a 10 out of 10. The tv in our room was really small for size of room. Also need disposable milks as lots of stairs to go and collect the fresh milk if you forget it lol
- Kenneth (8/5): Very good - Staff looked after us very welcoming
