Guest Reviews
- Oz (10/5): - My stay here was nothing short of amazing. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway with a relaxing island atmosphere, this is the perfect place. The scenery from the deck overlooking the calm, pristine sea was absolutely breathtaking and instantly soothing.
The accommodation was excellent and had everything I needed throughout my stay. The WiFi at the dining hall worked really well, although honestly, being surrounded by such peace and beauty made it easy to disconnect and simply enjoy island life.
The food was phenomenal — every meal was outstanding. Most importantly, the staff were exceptional: warm, welcoming, attentive, and genuinely made the experience even more special.
This is truly the perfect island escape to rejuvenate, reset, and unwind. Highly recommended — 10/10.
- Danniella (10/5): Amazing - The staff are so friendly, it’s a paradise, the ocean is clear. We liked it so much that we extended our stay another night
- Katharina (10/5): Beautiful stay - The Dorm was very comfortable and still private with the walls between every bed. There is no pool, but the beach there is the best I‘ve been on Fiji with soft sand. Especially the staff there was so nice and welcoming!
- Kelli (10/5): Amazing - Location
- EARL (9/5): Great snorkeling. Clean beaches. A super relaxed vibe. - Great snorkeling. Clean beaches. Quiet & comfortable venue. Tasty meals. A relaxed vibe with friendly & accommodating staff. The coffee. The cocktails.
- Tanya (10/5): - The grounds, the service, the staff, the food, the experience.
- Noe (10/5): - The staff was great, the food incredible and the beach amazing. The room was very clean and good size. They provide the tools and trips for local experiences, We went snorkeling on 3 different reefs with an amazing guides, we went to Sawa i lau caves which is amazing. They help us with the transfer from one island to theirs.
- Michał (10/5): Paradise! - Hospitality of people, bures, landscapes. It was perfect! If I’ve ever come back to Fiji, I’ll definitely choose Oarsman Bay Lodge once again. Thank you! Breakfast could be more diversed, however it was tasty.

- Paul (10/5): Excellent small resort to stay in when visiting the Yasawa Islands in Fiji - Very helpful and friendly staff, located on a beautiful beach, great place to relax, plenty of activities provided, good food Nothing

- Cathryn65 (10/5): Paradise - This place is stunning. The bay is clear and blue. Great for swimming and snorkeling or just watching over as the day goes by. The staff at Oarsman's Bay Lodge are kind, friendly and so very helpful. Nothing is too much. The activities are great. I have stayed in the dorm and a bure and both are clean and comfortable. The bure is really beautiful, spacious and has everything you need. The food is nice. I just can't fault it. I will definitely be back and next time with my family. 0

- Lorraine (10/5): Exceptional resort. Beautiful location, excellent accommodation, amazing staff. - Great central area for meals and activities with great views of the ocean. Loved the Fijian dinner night-lots of yummy traditional dishes to try. The staff were so friendly, helpful and welcoming. Loved that each bure also had its own outdoor sitting area, chaise lounges and hammocks. All units are nicely spaced, offering lots of privacy and solitude. Bure was nicely furnished, beds very comfortable. Nothing.
- Gal (10/5): Amazing - Staff were amazing, food was great, the beach and views are incredible.
The bed was very clean, I spent 4 days and I could stay more. If I’ll ever back in Fiji it’ll be just for the Oarsman!
Thank you guys for everything. You got into my heart Nothing

- Maria (10/5): I will definitely be back - This place was pure magic. I literally cried when I left. I give it my highest recommendation, the staff facilities, and the food.
- Adam (10/5): A Fijian Paradise - We spent a week here as part of a bigger trip and it was one of the most enjoyable vacations we have ever had. First, it was a fantastic location. It’s about a four and a half hour ferry ride from Port Denarau so you are well away from the day-tripper crowds. As another guest said, “it was so far away from the outside world that we felt like we were on a deserted island”. The bures and the lodge are right on the ocean so the beach is just steps away. Secondly, it was adults only with a capacity of about 37 guests so there was a nice tranquil atmosphere with a community feel and the opportunity to make new friends. Thirdly, there was a nice balance of activities. You could snorkel right off the beach in crystal clear water, and there were a variety of water excursions available. On several nights, there was some sort of activity at the lodge which had a side benefit of getting the guests to mingle. We particularly enjoyed the crab racing. Fourthly, the staff were very warm and welcoming throughout our entire stay and bent over backwards to make our stay enjoyable. Particular thanks to Josh who kept a keen eye on me when I took a snorkelling excursion. Finally, the food was extremely high quality. Breakfast was a buffet and given the remoteness of the location, it was primarily fish and chicken at lunch and dinner however there was considerable variety in the way dishes were served. As a wine lover, I was a little bit disappointed that the two red wines available by the glass were both pinot noir, which I don’t like, and the white wines by the glass were limited to chardonnay and sauvignon blanc. Slightly more variety would be good.
- GEORGIA 28 (9/5): Bester Aufenthalt ever!
- Rachel (10/5): -
- Annemarija (4/5): Having spent a night at the Blue Lagoon prior to Oarsman’s lodge, I was especially disappointed. I was hoping to get a p - Peaceful, next to the ocean The staff, the facilities, value for money, cleanliness
- Steve (10/5): -
- Steve (10/5): My favourite place to visit in the Yasawa group of islands in Fiji. - Excellent, modern resort in beautiful location. Very comfortable. All staff and guests seemed very friendly and welcoming Nothing
- Negar (10/5): Awesome and relaxed - The staff were incredible!
Super chill and nice location
- Dr John Jones (10/5): Location, people, atmosphere - Location, people, atmosphere
Oarsman's Bay has it all. Situated far enough north in the Yasawas to be well away from the day-tripper crowds, it offers a genuinely relaxed, authentic Fijian experience. The adults-only policy is the icing on the cake, who wants screaming, running and unwanted disturbances. Just pure, unadulterated bliss.
The activities on offer provide exactly the right balance, always available, never pushed. Free use of SUPs, Kayaks and snorkelling kit means you can simply grab what you need and head out at your own pace; the reef more than rewards the effort. But the highlight for me was the caving excursion, an absolute must-do. Brilliant from start to finish, and the kind of experience you won't find at the more resort-heavy spots further south.
Beyond that, the daily activities list has something for everyone, basket weaving, bonfires on the beach under a sky full of stars capture everything that makes Fiji special. There are also trips for evening sunsets on a remote island.
The staff are warm and welcoming, making you feel like a guest rather than a customer.
If you're looking for an escape that feels authentically Fijian, unhurried, and genuinely restorative — Oarsman's Bay delivers on every count. Nothing not to like
- Roisin (10/5): Paradise - Everything! The staff absolutely made our experience unforgettable though and are a credit to this place! From the second you arrive nothing is too much trouble and you definitely feel like family by the time you’re leaving.. we can’t wait to return! Having to leave!
- Mia Sofie (10/5): Traumhaft - Alles.
- Alison (10/5): Absolute paradise!! - A slice of heaven!
Wonderful gentle calmness with warm Fijian staff who felt like family
Absolutely gorgeous beach and sea! Paradise found
Food was fab although way too much! Couldn't get the water temperature in the shower right. But it didn't matter
- David H (6/5): - The food package was poor compared to similar other islands. The resort is pleasant, staff great and rooms all come with air con. The food however really does need to improve Food
- Forbes (10/5): Looking toward to another trip to Oarsmans Bay Lodge - Oarsmans Bay Lodge isn’t too crowded meaning there is an atmosphere of relaxation. The Lodge is situated on the ocean meaning the beach is only a few steps from your bed. There are walking tracks spanning many many KM’s which are great for keeping active. The activities available such as snorkelling and going out fishing on one of the boats are highly recommended. Any fish that are caught are superbly cooked for you by the kitchen. The food is of high quality and the Chef is happy to modify quantities, depending on your appetite. The entire Lodge is 5 star quality. The entire lodge is 10/10. The Staff were very approachable and receptive and amenable to any requests. Nil
- Caitriona (10/5): Absolute paradise, wonderful location, simplictic and very kind and generous staff - The location was amazing, so away from the outside busy world it really felt like we were on a deserted island. The staff were all so lovely and the massages were to die for, it was heaven on earth. Nothing
- Clementine (9/5): Absolutely stunning location, lovely staff and delicious food - Location is stunning and secluded. Staff are so kind and food is delicious
- Lois (9/5): Oarsman Lodge you won't regret it! - The Bures are comfortable with outdoor showers. The grounds are beautiful. The staff is friendly and helpful, the food is good, made from home grown produce and varied. The setting is relaxed and authentic. They offer a few different tour excursions that are enjoyable. I would highly recommend staying here for a portion of your Fiji experience. They only had instant coffee but they offer hot water with tea bags & 'instant' coffee all day, which I REALLY appreciated, so a small price to pay.
- Uta (8/5): - Sehr aufmerksames Personal
Gute Angebote Sehr teures Essenspaket, ohne Vorankündigung bei der Buchung.
- Cherayah (8/5): This is a really lovely place to stay, and overall I had a great experience. The facilities are very clean, especially t - Very clean facilities, including dorm bathrooms and showers
Modern, well-maintained bures
Free activities (snorkelling, paddle boarding, etc.)
Friendly, helpful activity hosts
Good food with clear daily schedules
Afternoon tea included
Spacious dorm rooms with ocean-view balcony
Free WiFi in main building
Adults-only resort with a relaxed vibe Suggestions for improvement/cons :
- Dorm beds could benefit from privacy curtains
- Individual bedside lamps or lanterns would help at night
- WiFi only available in the main building
- Dorms upstairs with high steps may be difficult for some
- More proactive encouragement for activities — having a staff member check in with guests in communal areas 30–60 minutes before activities could help boost participation
- YAUHENIYA (10/5): People and island dogs made our stay truly special. We left pieces of our hearts in Fiji. - The people that work at the resort are wonderful. So warm and welcoming. The island dogs are truly adorable and we miss them so much. The views are breathtaking. The chef, Jerry, is phenomenal. The food was great. nothing - everything was amazing
- Stephen (8/5): A beautiful place to just chill out & enjoy! -
- Catherine (10/5): Breathtaking and authentic experience, absolutely loved my stay at this wonderful place. - Everything was absolutely gorgeous! The welcome, the location, the staff, the food, the service and the activities. Clean and fresh, calm and relaxing getaway. I had a massage, went on a short hike with an amazing view, and took a boat to a private island to watch the sunset. There was also a beautiful sunrise at the restaurant. I can highly recommended and will definitely come back!
- Vincent (10/5): Incredible week at Oarsman Bay - I had a fantastic stay at Oarsman. Truly one of the nicer spots you can stay in the Yasawa Islands. Beautiful accomodations, beach, and snorkeling in crystal clear turquoise waters right off the property. Food was also delicious, with healthy portions. A particular shout out to the pastry chef, who made some of the best cinnamon buns I've had. Finally, a huge thank you to Josh, who made our stay all the more fun. He has a great sense of humour and we had a lot of laughs with him. Cheers. Nothing - was perfect

- Aeisha (10/5): We got engaged at Oarsman’s Bay Lodge and it will forever have a special place in our hearts. - Oarsman’s Bay Lodge was the perfect relaxing location for my partner and myself, we loved our beach front Bure which was clean and well facilitated with a split system, mini fridge, outdoor shower, wardrobe and a king size bed. The staff were very accomodating and truely made us feel like family. The food was amazing, although breakfast and lunch were set meals and the dinners have a choice between two, they were always excellent, especially for such a remote location. All the available activities were incredible, we participated in the paid activities: hand line fishing, cave visit as well as the free activities: kava ceremony, medical plant tour, Lovo demo, snorkeling, kayaking, and stand up paddle boarding.
- Anuna (9/5): A total recharge 😊😊 - Location was beautiful, food was superb and staff were amazing-do yourself a huge favour and just go!!!!
- Alisson (3/5): I wouldn’t recommended this hotel - Amazing view, like a postal card I just spent 3 nights at Oarsman’s Lodge on Nacula Island and, honestly, I’m really disappointed. It was the most expensive hotel I’ve booked so far in Fiji, and yet it was by far the least enjoyable experience.
What shocked me the most was the attitude of the staff. Until now, I’ve been amazed by how warm, friendly and genuinely kind Fijians are — always smiling, calling you by your name, creating real human connections. Here, it was quite the opposite. I had several unpleasant interactions, with staff members being dismissive, even borderline aggressive at times. It felt cold and transactional, which is heartbreaking when you’ve experienced the beautiful spirit of the Fijian people elsewhere.
The food was also very disappointing. Compared to other resorts like Manta Ray or Mai Sunset, the quality and variety just weren’t there. Meals often arrived cold, and there was no real choice — lunch was fixed, and dinner only offered two options. At every other place I stayed, I was presented with a full menu and fresh, tasty dishes.
One example that really bothered me: the drink menu listed a “fresh fruit juice” for 10 FJD. When I asked what fruits were available, the staff told me they had none, and that it was just powder mixed with water. Later, I noticed half a pineapple at the bar and asked if they could use it instead — I was told it was for cocktail decoration only. Eventually, they agreed to make a juice with it, but charged me 15 FJD, saying it was “real fresh fruit juice” this time. That kind of practice left a very bad taste.
I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. There are far better options in the Yasawa Islands with amazing food, a welcoming atmosphere, and staff that make you feel like family — the true Fijian way.

- Aurelie (10/5): Lovely gem of a place! Stay real Oarsman’s! - The staff were very kind and welcoming. It’s a true escape from noise and light pollution, and a rare chance to enjoy marine and human life in the remote and beautiful Fijian environment. I would love to come back! Top notch snorkeling from shore and worry-free excursions, thanks to Josh, Luke and Para. Excellent traditional Fijian massage thanks to Maria, and beautiful food and accommodation due to the attentive and hard working staff on the property. Scheduled activities events were often changed or not held. To be fair, I visited during the rainy season and many activities are weather dependent and hard to hold with fewer people or little interest on the visitors’ part to gather. More communication about changes or more fluid alternative plans would be nice.
- Eiden (10/5): - I enjoyed stand-up paddling and kayaking, but hiking up the mountain is also worthwhile. I haven't been able to find any defects.
- Emily (10/5): Oarsman's is pure relaxation, we came home almost a week ago but my brain is still there! - You'll be handsomely rewarded for coming all the way out to Oarsman's Bay - it may be further than most resorts but this means you'll have paradise on your doorstep! It was the perfect escape, quiet days surrounded by nature, amazing food and hospitality, a stunningly clear bay with soft white sand and amazing snorkeling right off the beach. There are also just enough activities on offer (and a small spa!) to keep you busy if that's what you want. We'll be back someday!! If I have to nitpick - the bed was a little bit firm for my taste but that's purely personal preference :)
- Asiye (10/5): - Beautiful location with friendly staff. The beach was perfect and able to swim to 2 reefs.
Accommodation as good as it can be. Nothing.
- Abir (10/5): Loved every minute and would definitely recommend - It was very tranquil and peaceful exactly what we were after. It truly felt like there was no one else with us for most of the time. Staff were lovely. We felt like we got a traditional Fijian experience. It wasn’t commercialised. Only down side would be the food. We had fussy eaters and even though they really did go out of their way to accomodate it would have been good to have more variety.
- Lucy (10/5): A slice of paradise in Fiji - We had the most amazing Christmas stay at Oarsmans. As soon as we arrived, we could see how attentive and kind the team are.
The accommodation, food, staff and setting of the hotel are amazing. It really does feel like a paradise.
There are trips you can book with the hotel team, as well as amazing snorkelling on the hotels beach. There is also a great hike behind the hotel that offers amazing views of the surrounding islands at the top. Watching the sunset from the dining area each night was also a highlight for us.
Would highly recommend Oarsmans and we can’t wait to return one day! Nothing!
- Andrew (10/5): This is the best resort I have stayed at anywhere in the world. - Superb location just metres from the beach.
Wonderful, helpful and kind staff.
Exceptional food. Because of the louvre windows the air conditioner struggled to keep the heat at bay.
- Nicole (9/5): Friendly staff and stunning location! - An amazing location with gorgeous views! The staff were so lovely and food was really good, it was great to be able to join in with the organised activities, lots of which were free. It was great to use the paddle boards and snorkelling gear for free. Went for a couple of massages in our few days there and Maria and the spa team were so lovely and we had such a nice massage. Big shout out to the team for a wonderful Christmas lunch and dinner, they made it feel very festive! The property next door, which our room was quite close to, was quite loud at times in the evenings. The conjoining rooms were not very soundproofed, but I didn’t realise I’d booked one of those rooms, so I’d recommend upgrading if possible

- Craig (10/5): - Oarsmans Bay was an island paradise! The location is stunning with beautiful beaches, aqua blue waters and local reefs. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We cant thank them enough for the lovely hospitality and excellent, well organised activities. Not too many people and it really felt like a intimate relaxed community. The room was spacious with a very comfortable bed, great air con and outdoor shower. Good food and we loved not having to think about it, just turn up to a nice meal. We had such a great time across our 7 nights and cannot recommend more highly. Great experience! Could do with some better coffee, though the staff inform me plans are in the works for this.
- Fiona (10/5): Loved our tropical getaway - laid back island charm, relaxing, friendly and enjoyable in every way. - Loved the rooms - excellent staff - snorkelling and activities great. Felt so at home there.
- O'Malley (10/5): 10/10. Paradise on earth - Oarsman Bay is paradise on earth. The staff were so friendly! Everyone very helpful and the atmosphere was amazing.
- Mirjam (9/5): - Beautiful lodge on Nacula island with spacious setup (lots of greens) and the most friendly staff! We had a great time there and specifically enjoyed our snorkeling trips to various reefs seeing turtles, reef sharks, rays and plenty of colorful fishes. Thanks for hosting us! Minor point, but a cappuccino in the mornings would be amazing as well as less boneless meat. Apart from that, the kitchen was amazing - fresh and colorful everyday!

- Ana (9/5): - The resort’s location and amenities offer a true sense of privacy and serenity, and the surrounding nature (including the reef right infront of the resort) is absolutely stunning.
Plus, the bure's open roof shower is genuinely unique. While the food is delicious, it can become a bit repetitive when staying for more than three days. Lunch consistently features chicken, and dinner usually offers a choice between chicken or fish. Breakfast, in particular, could benefit from a bit more variety.
- Jake (10/5): - We have just departed from our four nights at Oarsman’s Bay Lodge, like other reviews, chicken was a standard on most all meals except breakfast. This was our third island and with each island all had their pluses and minuses.. here at oarsman’s the pluses were as follows.:
1. The beach ..best of the three islands we visited ~ clear, turquoise, and softest sand ever! snorkelling right off the beach, which was great and easy.
2. The dining room, beautiful setting right on the beach. They set you up according to your bure. Can’t beat the setting .
And the negatives for this island are:
1. Although the meals are very tasteful, we had our fill of chicken!
2. Instant coffee. I went cold turkey for four days but feel better for it.!!
So both plus and minus overall a wonderful time spent at Orman’s … who wouldn’t enjoy time in the YASAWA islands!!
- Joao (10/5): - Adorámos tudo. Não temos nada a apontar. Simplesmente perfeito.
- Edward (9/5): An incredible stay with incredible staff. Truly a wonderful experience all the way around. - The staff was extremely dedicated to our comfort and really tried to make us feel like family. The easy access to the beach and the plentiful amount of excursions being offered truly made this a great place to stay. I wish there was wifi in the rooms. The lunch menu was always predetermined, while other resorts had options for lunch.
- Mikaela (10/5): Our favourite on the Yasawa’s. Would recommend and will definitely be back - Everything! Loved the intimacy of only a few other guests. The staff were so helpful and accommodating. The views of the beach but also neighbouring islands from the hike were amazing. We loved the island dogs too The snorkelling gear was a bit tricky to organise and we didn’t like having to return after every use. Would prefer to be able to hire for the duration of the stay and return upon checkout

- Eva (9/5): Life changing in terms of energy I was able to process on the island - Very attentive staff and great communication between them. They remembered requests and things didn’t. Need any follow up Sand that got walked into the room quite easily.
- Kevin (10/5): I loved everything about this place — the atmosphere, the people, and the way they make you feel so welcome. Please keep -

- Jasmin (9/5): Great stay with a beautiful beach and an awesome sunsets - We really enjoyed the beach and sunsets. The bure was clean and big enough for 2 people. The food was great but it would be nicer to have more choices (1 dish for lunch - usually chicken; 2 dishes for dinner - usually chicken and fish). It was usually really quiet (adults only resort), which we really enjoyed. Every day they were different activities (basket weaving, lovo cooking, kava ceremony and different kind of trips - reef hopping, Cave trip, village visit…). We stayed 5 nights and only once housekeeping was there (second day). On the 4th day someone knocked (we took a nap in the afternoon) and we asked for new towels. It was fine with us but we never knew if or when housekeeping is coming.

- Calum (3/5): Huge potential, massively disappointing - The location is incredible. Our room was great too. The staffs attitude. Excursions were poorly run too.
The staff really just didnt care at all. The food was not great at all considering what was being charged. The atmosphere generally because of the staff just wasnt good. If you visit anywhere else in the Yasawas, you'd realise the atmosphere is off.
- Michelle (10/5): A little gem, a home away home feeling, - just need to upgrade the dorm a bit. - This place is so special! The feeling of a "home away from home", all due to their amazing staff. You arrive there as strangers, and leave as friends. Next is the location right on the beach, free paddleboards, kayaks etc, the two house dogs that I miss already. The crystal clear water in front, the food, I really enjoyed it, so so much. I stayed in the dorm, the dorm is great cause the beds are divided by walls, giving it a bit more privacy, and its not bunk beds. BUT, I would like to have known that the dorm, which is above the kitchen, that the showers and toilets are shared with staff, the other guest etc. Also its not possible to lock the door to the room, and there is no lockers. But they have a safe in the office, but at arrival you are made to sign a liability form, and then there is no lockers. Does not make sense.
I do think that future guest should be advised that they are not sharing a bathroom/toilet facilities with just 8 other people, but with the whole place. Those things I really think you should improve, it would make the experience even better.
Also, this is none of the staffs fault, but I did get a feeling as other previous guests (read some reviews) in the dorm has had, that cause you are paying less, like you sit at a big table, with hard tradional chairs (the Bure clients has pillows), usually we would get served last, the toilet thing etc. The small things.
But again, I would visit in a heartbeat, its really the staff that makes this place.
- Diane (10/5): Le paradis !
- Tudo! Desde a simpatia dos funcionários, a comida saborosa e variada, as atividades disponíveis, o conforto do quarto e tudo isto no paraíso onde está localizado. N/A
- Lisa (10/5): Perfect for a relaxing getaway! - Well worth the 5 hour catamaran trip in choppy seas! OBL is amazing - good food, friendly and responsive staff, peaceful environment and incredible snorkelling right off the beach. Recommend Bure #13.
