Guest Reviews
- Shalyn (10/5): - This was such a cute little place. It definitely felt like a home away from ours. We will definitely be returning hopefully sooner than later.
- Michael (10/5): - Quiet, remote, scenic. Room was very quiet. Comfortable.
- Janice (8/5): - Great and convenient location for exploring the peninsula. Spacious and comfortable room, smallish bathroom with just one shampoo or body wash but good shower pressure. Good spot to see an aurora if one makes an appearance! They offer food all day, we had the lamb soup with toasted bread which was excellent, but the chicken noodle soup, although filling, was rather tasteless. Friendly and helpful staff.
- Angela (10/5): - The room was nice and cozy. It was very quiet, and the staff was friendly.
- Ila (8/5): - The room was compact but clean and comfortable. The attached bathroom was petite with a shower stall that was almost next to the sink and no partition or shower curtain so the whole bathroom got wet. Apart from this it was a good stay in a very convenient location in the Snaefellsness peninsula. Thanks to the staff for being so courteous and helpful.
- Lauren (10/5): Hotel Snæfellsnes stay 9/25 - The hotel was near some beautiful attractions. Staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good. We had a great view of the Northern lights.
- Arth (10/5): - The gentleman at the reception was very polite and took utmost care of the situation. We were very happy as he automatically upgraded us to an apartment as there were some noise complaint from previous guest. As for the apartment, it was clean with stunning scenic views. Overall, we loved our stay.
- Angie (8/5): Great location on peninsula - Nice small motel in good location for peninsula sight seeing. Rooms were comfortable and hotel restaurant had excellent food. Breakfast was included with a great variety of choices. Only down side was door had weight on it and slammed so in evening if resting you may hear your neighbours door as they left but it is otherwise in a quiet and remote area. Would definitely recommend
- Carole (10/5): - Cute property, great restaurant and location!
- Nancy Firra (10/5): - The service at this hotel was fantastic! In addition to having great food in their restaurant, the hotel also has a bakery with wonderful pastries. The beds were very comfortable, & the room size was perfect for 2. We would definitely stay here again.
- Nishi (6/5): - Very well located motel like
Property. Shout out to Jaime for his welcome and good service when we checked in close to reception close time of 9 pm.
- Jorge (10/5): - This is such a great spot to stay or stop for a meal. Staff is beyond friendly and professional. Food was SO good! Dinner and breakfast - must try the soup! Beautiful location. Huge bathroom. Comfy bed.

- Kelly (10/5): - Wow!! What an amazing spot to get a good meal and rest your head after exploring the peninsula! We were amazed by the hospitality and comfort of our rooms. Perfect location!! Such a great value.
- Paola (8/5): - The property is close to all the places that we want to visit. We order some food , but it was the worst in all our trip, looks like isnt fresh.
- Nancy (10/5): Perfect room - This was our last night in Iceland. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The room was clean, good size. Bathroom was also perfect size. Small shelf. Great shower. We also had dinner at the restaurant. One of the best meals in Iceland. I was just about a 2 hour ride to the airport. TV was available, but have your Prime or Netflix acct numbers available.
- Mica (10/5): - Wonderful hotel, charming restaurant and delicious coffee, excellent customer service and kind staff. Room was very clean, bed was comfortable and location was ideal.
- Joanna (8/5): - Hotel staff is very friendly and showed us our room. The restaurant food was excellent. The only complaints was our room doesn’t have ventilation. We need to open the door to sleep.
- Melissa (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Snaefflenes. The staff was friendly, helpful and a pleasure to deal with. The rooms were lovely. Clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. Highly recommend
- Anuj (8/5): - This hotel was a great find. It has clean and well-kept rooms with Smart TVs and an excellent breakfast. Their on-site café stays open until 9:30 PM, which is very convenient. We had a fantastic stay here, and the location is ideal for exploring the Snaefellsnes Peninsula without needing to drive from Reykjavík.
- Peter (8/5): - Bed and bedding were not comfortable for us, but that is a matter of taste. Really needs bathroom ventilation.
- Autumn (10/5): - This hotel and its owner are WONDERFUL! Lovely place to stay on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Highly recommend!
- Kit Man (10/5): - extremely friendly and helpful staffs, very welcoming, they showed us the room and briefed us about the functions when they gave us the key. The heat was coming from the floor so it may take a while to heat up but all is well, we had a nice sleep and very lovely breakfast as well. Highly recommended this hotel if you are around this area to explore the Snæfellsjökull national park.
- Franco (10/5): - Great place clean ad firendly staff
- Joshua (10/5): - The staff was exceptionally friendly. Room was very tidy and the bed was like a cloud compared to the place we came from. The baked goods from the cafe were delicious. The wind was quite fast the night we stayed and you could hear it in the vent in the bathroom but shutting the door did a good enough job to quiet it down a good bit. Would stay here again if I had the chance
- gordon (10/5): - Well situated
- Terry (10/5): - Perfect location to stay while visiting Snaefellsnes
- ROSA (10/5): - Staff was very kind
- Stephanie (10/5): - We loved this hotel. The staff was very welcoming. The food in their restaurant was excellent. We loved the breakfast that was included. They have a latte machine for the morning and were nice enough to boil me some oat milk to make a latte. Probably the best coffee we had while in Iceland was here. It was an extremely convenient location for exploring the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. We would gladly stay here again in the future.
- Thomas (10/5): Snaefellsnes - Spent 3 nights here while exploring the Snaefellsnes Peninsula and couldn't have found a better hotel! Breakfast was good, bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was very spacious!
- Koon Ming (10/5): - The Breakfast is good with many selection and the homemade bread is delicious. We had dinners at the restaurant and the food is well presented and worth the price we paid. The big bonus is that we were able to see the Northern Lights right outside our hotel room which is certainly a great plus given the freezing cold.
- Nathan (10/5): - Great apple dessert!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - 房間很大,甚至我們在晚上九點半才check in,住宿老闆還是為我們親切的介紹房間及周邊設施!
- Laurie (8/5): - Planned this location after a day of exploring the Snaefellnes peninsula. Room was clean and restaurant availability onsite was a bonus to get a late dinner.
- Garrett (10/5): - Nice, quiet rooms. Wonderful breakfast buffet!
- John (10/5): - Perfect for Northern Lights.
- Rose (10/5): - Hotel Snæfellsnes – The Perfect Base for Exploring the Peninsula
Located almost in the center of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, Hotel Snæfellsnes has everything you need to explore this stunning region. If you’re visiting Iceland, don’t skip this area! We used the hotel as a base to explore the peninsula clockwise, and each stop felt like a new highlight, adding to the overall experience.
Our room was clean and spacious, with large windows offering a beautiful view. We even spotted three sheep walking by our window, which made the experience extra special. The room had a well-equipped bathroom, and the hotel is a one-story building with a big parking lot and a nearby gas station. There’s even an On Power plug station for electric cars, which was very convenient.
The hotel also features a restaurant where you can enjoy dinner, as well as a breakfast buffet that’s included with your stay. During dinner, we were hosted by Anselmo, who made our dining experience unforgettable. His recommendations for food, wine, and dessert truly elevated the meal. If you stay here, you absolutely must try the lamb and the apple pie dessert—they were outstanding!
Anselmo’s warmth and hospitality left a lasting impression on us, and we’re grateful for his kindness.
Overall, Hotel Snæfellsnes is an excellent choice for travelers looking to explore this beautiful peninsula while enjoying a comfortable and welcoming stay. We highly recommend it and would gladly stay here again.
- Mindy (10/5): - We loved this property. The staff were kind and breakfast and dinner were great.
- Mark (10/5): - Great location for day trips. Wonderful includes breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff.
- Corey (10/5): - Spacious room with comfy beds, a tv and nice shower. Also, the food at the restaurant is very good including the breakfast.

- Easy parking, easy to get there, quiet, amazing view
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely location, room, breakfast and staff.
- Tom (10/5): - Looks can be deceiving. Great room, friendly staff, dinner was delicious
- Neville (10/5): - Really friendly staff. Room is a bit old, but in good condition - rooms have local names, not numbers. Breakfast was good. Interestingly, tables were allocated by your room name which meant there was a table for everyone. There is also an electric car charge point in the carpark.
- Shashant (8/5): - Good property to stay a night
Old style rooms
- James (6/5): - Great people and good pastries
- Carrie (10/5): Wonderful - Excellent lamb dinner. Welcoming and conveniently located.
- Florian (8/5): More a 3-star hotel - Was nice, but was expecting more from a 4-star hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good value for money - The layout of the hotel seemed more like a motel with all units at ground floor level. The rooms are a good size, warm and comfortable, ours looked recently redecorated. Spacious bathroom with walk-in shower and underfloor heating. A kettle and Nespresso machine were supplied for tea and/or coffee. Dinner and breakfast were served in the restaurant attached to the popular cafe - dinner portions were generous and the breakfast selection was excellent. It looks quite basic on the outside but offers a lot
- Lisa (10/5): Great Stay - We had an amazing stay here. The room was cozy and had all the amenities needed for our overnight stay. The cafe on premises was great with a nice selection of items and the breakfast in the more had all the items needed to fuel up for a day of sightseeing. We would definitely stay at this property again.
- Bruce (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a great location for exploring Snæfellsnes peninsula. The hotel is very nice. We enjoyed eating dinner at the hotel restaurant. The food and presentation were excellent. Breakfast was very good. The hotel’s staff members were very helpful. I’d expect that most guests are very happy with the experience.
- Eric (10/5): Would stay again! - Staff was interested in helping their guests and making stay comfortable. Everything was very clean, breakfast was more than we expected and had something for everyone.
- Jessica (10/5): - This was a surprising property for me. At first it looked more like a typical American Motel but WHOA was I surprised ! This was a beautiful establishment with kind and friendly staff, VERY comfortable accommodations , a fantastic cafe and restaurant, and a beautiful view. I was so thrilled to stay at this hotel! Very affordable as well. I loved it !
- Richard (8/5): - Well located for getting around Snaefellsnes. The rooms are relatively simple, but large, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The food available is good. The breakfast was enjoyable - particularly the homemade bread. Would stay again.
- Kris (10/5): - Very quiet and relaxing.
- Tim (8/5): - Great room and bathroom. Keller and coffee machine in room. Parking easy. Dinner was expensive but tasted okay. Breakfast included was nice.
- Yan (8/5): - Nice food. They provide dinner and the seafood soup and cod are really good.
- Karen (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay at this small hotel. A highly convenient location for driving and hiking through the Snaefellsnes peninsula. Comfortable beds, spacious room, clean and pleasant. Breakfast included in the lovely dining room.
- Lidia (10/5): - Everything was great about this place. The staff was very friendly. The room was extremely clean with everything you might need and very warm considering how cold it gets outside. - David (10/5): - Outstanding. Quiet, peaceful, and for Americans like a “motel that feels like a hotel.” There are individual doors to each room like in a motel which is perfect for a ring road trip. 100 percent of you will be driving. A bathroom that echoes it is so big. Excellent breakfast. Wonderful staff who showed me to my unit herself rather than just giving directions. I cannot recommend this place more highly. Very convenient on way to the national park.
- Nancy (10/5): - Our room was very clean and comfortable. The morning breakfast buffet was excellent. We would recommend highly!
- Tracy (10/5): - Hotel Snaefellsnes is a nicely run hotel very convenient to a tour of Iceland. The rooms are very modern and comfortable and the staff is nice. There is an on-site restaurant that serves dinner and breakfast comes wito th your room. It was a very nice and hearty breakfast as well. They also have a bakery full of yummy treats.
We stayed 1 night and had no complaints.

Next to highway
Great buffet breakfast
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fabulous hotel restaurant, great location - The location of the hotel is ideal for anyone traveling around the Snaefellsnes peninsula. The accommodations are basic, clean, quiet. Service at the restaurant for breakfast and dinner is too notch. The dinner menu was fantastic. Best meal we had in Iceland. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the presentation.
- Jennifer (10/5): - We loved our short 1 night stay here. A really kind man greeted us and walked us to our room. It was very clean and was probably the most comfortable bed we had during our stay. There’s a cafe/dinner opened pretty late so you can grab coffee and something to eat reasonably late. Everyone was really friendly. Breakfast has espresso, fruits, pastries, and more!
- Lindsay (10/5): Great service, accomodation, and location - We had an absolute lovely time. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Bathroom and shower were also very nice. We also enjoyed great coffee at the cafe and a delicious dinner at the restaurant.

Emil who xhecked us in at the reception desk went above and beyond to make our two night stay a fanatic one! We arrived after a long drive to be welcomed by Emil. He was so accomodating and allowed the kitchen to stay open so that we could have dinner in our room and even carried the heavy hot plates to our beautiful room! We slept deep on the comfy beds and woke up to a lovely breakasr in the morning. All the staff was friendly and made our stay incredibly special. We slso had housekeeping service, which is a luxury nowadays. We will definitely stay again due to the pleasant stay and great location!!

- HAN (10/5): - Very neat hotel! Great dinner & fresh breakfast. Highly recommended :)
- Ruby (10/5): - You really should stay here. Pictures of the rooms don't do them justice. They have vaulted ceilings! Plush linens with loads of pillows, effective blackout curtains, and windows that open. And its so quiet. You'll definitely sleep peaceful. Oh, and did I mention the cappuccino maker in your room? Or the Netflix and Amazon Prime on the TV? Or that the way the water drains in the shower is so freaking cool??? Staff is so friendly and cheerful. The homemade bread at breakfast toasted perfectly with crisp edges all around. And the lamb shank I had for supper one night was the best meal of my two week trip. So flavorful and fell off the bone with wonderful veggie sides. Really a must try. I stayed a total of nine places on my vacation, and this place was my absolute favorite. I'll be dreaming of that meal, and my stay, for quite awhile. You really must stay at this lovely establishment! Thank you, thank you, for such a remarkable stay!
- Mark (10/5): - Excellent food reasonably priced. We ate lunch (fish and chips), dinner (lamb shank and trout) as well as breakfast (buffet included with accommodation) and all were excellent. Room had a great coffee maker and bed was very comfortable.
- Michael (10/5): - The room was clean and spacious and we got a really good night rest. Also, I stayed during a rainy/stormy day and arrived late (passed the normal check in time). But even in the bad weather, the staff went the extra mile to ensure that we were able to get to our room. Thank you!!
- Brad (10/5): - Excellent breakfast with lots of options and dinner options were excellent. The trout was superb, and the lamb looked excellent.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hotel room was large but very basic and unappealing. For example there is no towel rack in the bathroom.
- Dimitriy (10/5): - Very clean room, great breakfast included.
- Tara (10/5): - The food was delicious for dinner and the breakfast in the morning offered an array of breakfast items.
- Martin (10/5): - It's a great base for visiting the peninsula. You're in the middle of nowhere by a road junction, theres practically nothing else close by and you can see for miles in every direction. Its very peaceful.
The rooms are warm, there's a little coffee lounge and the food in the restaurant is fabulous.
We stayed three nights and really liked it.
- Karl (10/5): - Room was clean with big tv and nice shower and comfortable bed. Staff was very friendly and helpful - dinner at the restaurant was delicious- fish and chips and the vegan soup were great plus save room for dessert. The breakfast in the morning was the usual but very good. Definitely recommend.
