- Darren (10/5): Cozy and convenient cabins perfectly located for coastal fun! - We loved the coziness of our cabin and the comfort of the bed. As it was October during our stay, it was very cool in the morning, but was perfect for sitting on the covered porch (even on one drizzly morning) with a hot cup of tea watching the leaves fall from trees that were ablaze in color still. The heater in the cabin did a great job of keeping us toasty through the night and the kitchenette made eating leftover from the day convenient. The hosts were very friendly and the snacks and drinks provided in the office we a good start to our mornings. The rock art pieces created by one of the hosts were so cute that two of us purchased pieces as a reminder of our stay and trip after we got back home. The location is convenient to some of the most adorable coastal towns and we will definitely book again on our next New England trip and recommend to friends who travel the area. Can't think of anything that detracted from our enjoyment. We are easy travelers who are as comfortable in a warm cabin as we are in a 5 star luxury hotel.
- Peter (6/5): Good general location-but too close to the road and too close to the other cottages on site. - Rooms were clean and staff was very nice. Food variety and quality of continental breakfast was good too. Our bathroom was adjacent to the deck from another unit where the people were smoking and we heard every word of their conversation when we were in the bathroom. Our cottage was right next to River Road and about 100 feet from Route 1 so there whole night there was road noise which made it hard to get to sleep. Surprised they charged $1 for a bottle of water that you can get in bulk for 30 cents a bottle, where other hotels that charge $250/night give you free water. Also disappointed that the only juice-like drinks available at breakfast were Capri Suns. No outlets in the bathroom in one of the two cottages we rented.

- Michael (8/5): - We booked late so lots of options were gone in the region. The little cottage idea seemed kitchy. It is. Kinda feels like back in my youth, staying in Motels as my family traveled around America. Feels more like staying at your aunts house than at a hotel. And there is nothing wrong with that. Things in the area kinda shut down in early October so plan for that. Less crowds though! Parking is a little rough in cabins 6-4 but otherwise it was good. Phone to contact property is not the property but rather a number for real estate in Florida.

The host was very friendly and was able to point out some places of interest and good places to eat. The cottage is well cared for and very clean. The location was great for visiting Cape Neddick, York, and Ogunquit. We had a very enjoyable stay and look forward to returning someday. We loved everything!

- Patrice (6/5): Lovely hosts, disappointing accomodations. - The hosts were charming, and the place was close to beautiful beaches. Nice gazebo on the property. The cabin was clean, and the updated bathroom was very nice. Bed was not comfortable and rather squeaky. The cabins are cute but VERY tiny. Sadly, we had an insect problem in our cabin. Property is directly by a busy road, which was occasionally quite noisy. Shops across the street had some appeal, but you take your life in your hands trying to cross the road in the busy summer months.

The host was welcoming and helpful. Perfect for travelers who appreciate a no-frills. - Tui (10/5): A lovely suite in a historic home, with lots of treats and classic furnishings - The hosts were welcoming, kind and provided clear instructions. We stayed in the original main house and it was great to have a chance to stay in one of the classic houses we had seen on our road trip. Bed was king size, comfortable and even though it was close to a main road, it was quiet during the night. Everything we needed or wanted to see was at hand or handy including the Neddick Nubble Light, Restaurants and the coastline Nothing we had no problems easy to find sad to leave!

- Timothy (9/5): Great little cabin in the woods - A wonderful set of cottages in a convenient location. Even though it was right on US 1, it felt like you were off in the woods. The owners were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was good and varied. We stayed in October, and the floor in our cottage was quite cold. (The cabin itself was fine - the heating unit worked great! Just the floor. But bring wool socks or slippers, and you'll be fine.)

- Alison (9/5): Super cute cottages, super friendly staff - Lovely helpful staff, amazing breakfast, great swimming pool, super cute cottages, and lots of hummingbirds at the feeders by breakfast! We had the cottage nearest the road and although it was pretty quiet at night, the noise of trucks first thing in the morning, even on a Sunday, was very loud. But I'm not sure there was much they could do about that and we did book the last available cottage. My only criticism of the really great breakfast was that everything was in tiny portions served in plastic containers. I wonder whether more compostible containers could be used as a more environmentally friendly option?
- Cassie (9/5): Great Retreat - River road cottages were perfect for a few days stay. We stayed in cabin 15 and we were able to work comfortably as well as make meals. In cabin 15, I the bed was a little too firm for my taste but my husband didn’t have any problems with it but that was the only thing I didn’t enjoy

- Fast (10/5): Exceptional - The spacious gazebo offers an extra place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The porch with rocking chairs is what I enjoy the most . The flower beds were not kept up well. Flowering plants should have been dead-headed so that new flowers could contnue to bloom all summer. The garden beds have previously been one of the strongest attractions of 2 River Road.

Wish there were healthier and fresher options for breakfast. Coffee was too watery for my liking. For me personally, I don’t like a strong scented detergent on the bedding BUT I was impressed with how clean everything was.

- Marie (5/5): Pleasant. All staff were warm and lively and helpful. We would stay again, but not in the main building; only in a cotta - Location. Lovely setting: big property with lots of trees,trails, lovely gardens, hummingbirds. The main house, in which we stayed (despite the fact that when we booked through Bookings.com we chose one of the many cottages on the property; we were told by our greeter that we should always book directly through the inn because Bookings was not up-to-date on what rooms were available), could use many small updates that would make it much more comfortable: the house is very old (though nice and clean), so it doesn't have enough electrical outlets, or they are in odd or inaccessible places. Ex., I had to lie on the floor and reach way under the bed's headboard in order to plug in my husband's C-pap machine; there is a coffee maker in the room, but it can't be plugged in from where they've situated it on top of a fridge because the cord is too short. You have to move the fridge closer to an outlet, or place the coffee pot somewhere else, like on top of a radiator that is turned off for the summer. The coffee maker needs to be replaced: it makes shockingly loud noises twice in the process of making a cup of coffee. The cellular window blinds can no longer be raised more than a few inches, so in daylight hours the room remains very dim, requiring lights be turned on.

- Verified traveler (4/5): Looks are deceiving - We were very disappointed with the actual place vs what the pictures were online. It looked like there was an in ground pool but when we got there it was 4 foot above ground with a lot a rules. No jumping in the pool was one of them which seemed a little outlandish, especially for the kids. It was a pet friendly place but there were plenty of dog rules as well. One of them being, you can’t leave your dog in the cottage for longer than 1/2 hour. What are you suppose to do with them when everywhere around is not dog friendly? Leave them in the hot car? We felt like we were being watched throughout our stay, which creeped me out. I get it it’s a cottage and it’s not perfect, but the floors were uneven, there were carpenter ants, and I kept getting whiffs of septic coming from the bathroom. If we were aware what we were getting into we wouldn’t have stayed.

There was a great convenience store right across the street. They offered a complimentary breakfast (but we didn't have it). The 2 room suite (suite 2) was spacious. The a/c was wonderful! The beds were very stiff and I woke up with a bit of a sore back. The layout was kind of weird. There was a bathroom separating the 2 rooms. This meant for my teen some to get in and out of his room he had to cross through the bathroom. We also had to lock him in his room whenever we used the bathroom or showered.

- Patricia (9/5): Lovely Inn and Cottages close to everything! - The property is lovely with meticulous landscaping in camp-like environment. Although it sits on a corner next to Rte 1, we still found it peaceful. We were in cottage 12 with a king bed. My only complaint, as I addressed to the owner, was that the sheets and linens had a strong smell of the detergent they are using. It’s possible that they have been using too much detergent and that it isn’t all rinsing out. I am also very sensitive to smells because it didn’t bother my husband in the least. River, the family dog on the premises was very sweet and greeted all guests with a wagging tail and sometimes an exposed belly looking for a rub! The Pavilion was lovely to sit in and even watch some TV or have a meal or cocktails. The pool is small, but sparkling clean and refreshing. Delicious coffee and light breakfast fare offered every morning. Honestly we loved everything. The grounds and cottages are pristine and the owners were so friendly and accommodating. I would recommend that they switch to an unscented detergent or use much less of it. If you are sensitive to heavy scents you may want to bring your own bedsheets.

The location is very busy and difficult to cross the street safely on Rt 1. The town should put a crosswalk with a light. It was a bit tough for our dog to do his business since he was only allowed in certain sections of the property.

Great location.. close to beaches, shopping and lots of restaurants. Owners went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. We spent some time at the pool and relaxed and used gazebo for games and pizza. “River” the official greeter was a big hit too!

- donna (8/5): - Although we were offered AC after we mentioned it was very hot in the room ,it could have been included as an option from the first night. We didn’t realize how close we were to the highway so opening up the windows at night for fresh or cooler air allowed the noise of the steady stream of traffic - which was surprising for this time of year and little restful sleep. The AC probably drowns out the noise of traffic. I was a little surprised that our room was also not made up after the first night. Part of going on vacation is returning to your room with a freshly made bed , replenishing coffee and fresh cups / water glasses. Simple pleasures for the price makes the difference. This was a little disappointing as with the ants that were crawling around . As a beach town , it should be expected that guests need to take multiple showers during the day and may need fresh towels. Most hotels have a sign to either ‘make up the room ‘ or ‘ do not disturb’ . Just very disappointing.

- Mary (9/5): A hidden gem in York Maine - We were pleasantly surprised how clean and cozy the cabin was. The cabin was the perfect size for my husband and I. Check in was was flawless. The breakfast had many choices and I loved how everything was individually wrapped. The owner was extremely friendly and nice .She was very helpful with any questions or concerns we might have had. We also enjoyed her dog who greeted us every morning when we went to breakfast. My husband and I will definitely go back again. There was nothing we didn't like about this property or any of the staff.

No space in the room, no cupboards or drawers and really cold at night with no warm bedding and only a noisy cranky old heating unit that kept cutting in and out. Breakfast was very disappointing. We left after the first night even though we had paid for two nights.

The only issue we had was there were a few "soft spots" in the floor that needed some attention but besides that one little issue, this was a great place to call "home" for a few nights.
