• d0rian7 (6/5): Disappointing stay - Very good location, with beautiful views of Chora and the castle. A supermarket and pastry shop a few meters away. We arrived early in the morning and the room was available to check in. The cleaning lady was very polite, kind and cleaned everything with care. The apartment was not properly prepared to have visitors. We had several issues such as: 1. The oven was not working. We called the owner and told us we had to set the clock for the oven to work. Apparently, every time the key was removed from the socket (which would switch of the electric circuit from most of the house) the clock would get unset. That is, every time we returned to the apartment we had to set the oven clock. 2. First time we got the oven working, the electric safety switch went off. We called the owner and he said this was because of the humidity. Next morning he called us while we were out to tell us that he sent someone to fix it. 3. During our stay there was a storm with strong winds and rain. Again, all of the sudden the electric safety switch went off leaving us in the dark. I called again to report it and the host told me to go to the electric panel and start switching on the individual fuses until I find the problematic one. So I did, in the end we had electricity except a couple of sockets that were off. 4. What was worse is something for which I had specifically asked to be functional, as my son enjoys it a lot, the jacuzzi. When I checked it I found out that the temperature of the water would not rise and there would be no bubbles. I told the owner and the answer was that some guests damaged the jacuzzi last summer and that for the resistors and the motor to be fixed it would require a couple of months. In the end I was very disappointed by our choice to visit Astypalea that time. It was a big mistake to go there off season. Perhaps in the summer we wouldn't have those issues, however the room was available to be booked on Booking, it was not on discount, and I had specifically asked for the jacuzzi to be operational and the owner had assured me that it would. It was very disappointing that he would just find excuses for everything and never took seriously that he had paid to receive a specific level of service that he did not...

• Alesandra (6/5): - The location of the property was amazing, the view was priceless. There was an error with our booking and we needed an extra night and we were accommodated, which was greatly appreciated. The property was poorly maintained and not very clean. The rooms are not serviced. We were able to ask for what we needed, towels, extra linen. We were able to clean our room and the floor ourselves when required. Overall we had a great stay and the room accommodated our family of four.

• Ernst Arn (5/5): Angebot entspricht nicht dem Preislevel und der Ausschreibung. - Lage sehr gut mit Blick auf Hafen, Chora und Kastro. Grösse des Studios ok. Pool mit gleicher attraktiver Aussicht und hübschen Sitzplätzen waren vorhanden. Raumservice könnte vom Preis her gesehen wesentlich besser sein: Abfall der vorhergehenden Mieter wurde erst zwei Tage nach unserer Ankunft geleert. Frequenz sollte täglich sein. Abholservice hat nicht funktioniert. Klimaanlage hat nicht funktioniert. Eine private Terrasse/Balkon war nicht vorhanden. Der sogenannte "Balkon" ist nur ca.1m breit und gleichzeitig Zugang zu anderen Wohneinheiten und zum Pool! Die zwei Sessel und der kleine Tisch eignen sich nicht für ein Essen im Freien, allenfalls für einen Drink, mit regelmässigem Füsse zurückziehen. Glücklicherweise sind wir flexibel und haben die Woche trotz diesen Mängeln genossen.

As soon as we arrived, he wanted to send us to another hotel because he said there was a problem (he'd given the room to someone else who was already settled in), even though I'd already paid for it in advance. The day we were leaving, he showed up screaming like a madman, saying we had to leave urgently. The hotel, the location, and the views are excellent, but the owner's mistreatment is unacceptable. The employee was very nice and very polite. Poor thing, she has to put up with this person.
• Antoine (5/5): Endroit avec vue magnifique, mais manque d'entretien et d'équipement. - Location super bien placée avec une très belle vue. A deux pas de la supérette et de la petite plage du centre ville. Proche de l'arrêt de bus et de l'Astybus. Le propriétaire a assuré gentiment les transferts aller retour avec le port. Le ménage n'était pas fait convenablement à notre arrivée, ce qui n'est pas acceptable à ce niveau de prix. Nous avons du nous expliquer avec le propriétaire pour le nettoyage de l'appartement et de la piscine. Le descriptif des équipements de l'appartement est erroné sur de nombreux points. La piscine n'est pas entretenue convenablement, on nous a dit tous les trois jours on en doute de toute façon ce n'est pas assez (à notre départ l'eau de la piscine avait tourné). Le propriétaire nous a dit que la piscine était là juste pour la décoration et qu'il fallait mieux aller à la plage. Dans ce cas il lui faut baisser ses tarifs. Les parties communes ne sont pas entretenues, l'escalier d'accès par exemple n'a pas été balayé en 10 jours. L'endroit pourtant super bien placé s'endort sur ses acquis, et l'ensemble est décrépi et à besoin d'entretien (Les lanternes d'extérieur des terrasses n'existent plus, seul les fils d'alimentation sont restés. Le bac de douche à été repeint (chambre N°7) la peinture se décolle, comment la femme de ménage peut-elle nettoyer le bac de douche dans ces conditions ? Nous avons été obligé de réclamer des accessoires de cuisine indispensables (toaster, planche à découper, plateau, cuillères assiettes, bols...). On a vraiment l'impression que cet endroit magnifique n'est pas entretenu, que les propriétaires ont d'autres préoccupations, ne savent pas ce que c'est de recevoir des touristes et se reposent sur leurs lauriers passés. A ce niveau de prix c'est dommage. Attention le parasol de la terrasse du N°7 n'est pas fixé au socle, il s'est envolé lors d'une rafale de vent malgré son poids conséquent, heureusement nous n'avons pas été blessés. C'est dangereux merci au propriétaire de faire le nécessaire pour le fixer.

We really liked bathing at the pool where we could take amazing photos with the scenic view. It was easy to reach out our host and ask for information. I didn't like having to pay so much money for two nights and without even breakfast options included. Furthermore, the AC of the room we had booked was put for repair the day we were booking in. We were upgraded to a better room for the first night and had to change to another room for the second night.

• Sarah (8/5): Fantastic location, best views, friendly hosts. - We loved the location, on a cliffside with spectacular views over Pera Gialos port and Chora/the castle, and a 5 mins walk down to the harbour (or about 20 mins steep walk uphill to the windmills). Really close to bus stops and the supermarket. Our split level apartment was very light and airy, had a balcony plus a huge roof terrace which was perfect for sunbathing and evening drinks. The 2 bedrooms were actually all part of one big room on the first floor, accessed by steep stairs and separated by a bamboo screen. Antonis the owner was really welcoming and helpful, picking us up from the airport. You must try his restaurant on the beach in Livadi. And the staff were super friendly. The pool was small, accessed down quite a few steps but with lots of different areas including one with a huge chessboard. It had amazing views and plenty of sunbeds/umbrellas. Nothing!

• David (7/5): Exceptional view but unexceptional accommodation? - Panoramic view over nearby harbour and Venitian Castle from private patio. Supermarket nearby. Beach a short walk away. Free pick up from Airport. Were initially given an apartment which did not match the description of the self catering apartment originally booked and owner was very reluctant to accept this was a problem. Eventually moved us to accomodation that was as described on booking confirmation after we had made it clear we would not accept accommodation that did not have the specific self catering facilities we had booked & paid for. A stressfull and unpleasant start to a holiday.. Accomodation we eventually got had very basic range of catering utensils. Bathroom had poor lighting and ventilation (window opened out to a brick wall?) Daily room service but concerning that cleaners assumed it was OK to enter without knocking and no consideration for privacy.

• Lucy (8/5): Good accommodation in a great location - Accommodation was in a great locaition. 15 minutes uphill walk to the Chora, or 2 minutes into the harbour of Pera Gialos with shops, bars, restaurants and a small beach. Accom had everything you need, good aircon, balcony. kitchenette etc. Beds were comfy, The host wasn't brilliant at communication, that said he was kind enough to pick us up from the port and gave us a gift when we left. It took a few emails to get a response from him, but he was great when we did. My only other minor gripe is that the shower could have been cleaner. I used one of the free toothbrushes to give it a scrub before we used it. The rest of the room was very clean. All in all the location was great and the host was kind. I would stay again if I had the good fortune to return to Astypalia, which is an absolute gem of an island.

• Normanscicluna (8/5): Best view in Astypalea - Great location and awesome view of the harbour and of the Kastro on the opposite hill. Beautiful by day and fairytale like at night. Apartment was cosy, had a lot of extras such as a clothes iron, hair drier, coffee machine, full refrigerator, hob, and more. Owner even left us a complimentary bottle of wine, orange juice, large water, and a beer. Lack of communication ended up with a difficult port pickup, owners are not on property to resolve any issues, like broken wine bottle opener, locked safe. Also, if you take the breakfast option, it is rather unclear where their beach taverna is. If I understood correctly, it is rather far away. Could be wrong on this so please clarify with the owner. That said, it was a pleasant stay and we had no problem with a late afternoon checkout.

• Chiara (8/5): - There was a mistake for the room we booked, but then they left us to stay in a bigger apartment (so it was good, but the 1st day they tell us that unfortunately we should change after 2 days... and it could be a problem. Fortunately they solved the problem). We had 4 good days, the location is perfect and the view is fantastic. About the apartment there are some problems about maintenance: (Air conditioned with leaking water, malfunctioning shower and not very hot water, towel rack falling off, sink cabinet in bad shape...) They need to do maintenance work, but unfortunately this is common in greek's islands.
• Averil (7/5): We loved the location if you happy to be at harbour. - Fantastic views of harbour and castle. Close to port No one to check us in and no information. We never did work out where to find our inclusive breakfast. After asking via WhatsApp we were told some beach (don’t know where) less than 1km walk. Odd !! Air con unit did not work to its full potential. Our room number 6 had a small balcony which was bit of a tight squeeze with 2 chairs, table and umbrella. Needed to rearrange furniture to shut the shutters.

The owner Adonis was so friendly and fetched us from the port. We had with breakfast booked on his beach cafe which was very relaxed and welcoming, too. Large room and bus stop in front if the house, supermarket opposite 2min away, 5min to the beach. 2min to 2 delicious taverns down the hill, too. Highly to recommend!!

• Luciano (9/5): Great stay - Booking x Caldera My husband and I, with friends, stayed at Caldera Studios for a week. The rooms are comfortable, clean and nicely furnished, and the view is gorgeous, right in front of the Chora and the line of charming windmills that decorate the top of Astypalea. The terraces are also well furnished with couches, comfortable chairs, sunbeds and a small pool. The owner, Antoni, and his nice family, are incredibly efficient and caring. They were always ready to help and solve any problem we had, not necessarily related to the rooms (there weren’t any) but also, for instance, helping us choose the places that were most appropriate for us to go, or fetching us from the airport. Their restaurant with associated beach, in Livadi, are also nice and comfortable, and the food is very good. When we left Astypalia we were sorry to leave them just as if we had left some precious, newly acquired friends.
• Adam (10/5): Perfect romantic apartment for two with breathtaking view - Magnificent view of the sea, the port and the Castle on the hill! The room was large and very clean, and the balcony was also quite big for two people, and again with the best view in all of Astypalaia! A perfect romantic, almost luxury, apartment for two! There was no corkscrew for the complementary wine bottle, which is obviously not a big deal.
• Sally (10/5): - Absolutely brilliant studio on this gorgeous island. Owners are incredible. The pool looks over the ocean. The large supermarket is across the road. Beds are clean, shower is great. It's not in the main part of town so we walked alot but absolutely loved staying here.

• KONSTANTAROS (10/5): A perfect experience - Η εμπειρία μας στο ξενοδοχείο ήταν καταπληκτική. Ο ιδιοκτήτης, κ. Αντώνης, ήταν φιλικός και πρόθυμος να εξυπηρετήσει σε ο,τι του ζητήσαμε. Το δωμάτιο ήταν περιποιημένο και καθαρό, καθώς καθαρίζοταν κάθε μέρα. Η θέα ήταν εκπληκτική. Διέθετε όλες τις ανέσεις που μπορεί να χρειαστεί κάποιος. Η τοποθεσία ήταν ιδανική για να εξερευνήσεις το νησί. Το συνιστούμε ανεπιφύλακτα!

• Verified traveler (10/5): - The studios have an excellent location on the edge of the sea with views across the bay to the castle. Our studio was spacious, well-equipped and very clean. The only negative was the small balcony - so small that we could not fully open the parasol. Other rooms have bigger balconies.
• Lorenzo (10/5): Bella vacanza ad Astypalea - Abbiamo passato una intera settimana da Antonis ai Caldera Studios: l'esperienza è stata bellissima, accoglienza calorosa con vari prodotti all'arrivo, sistemazione accogliente con vista spettacolare sulla Chora, pulizia, comfort, tranquillità e soprattutto la presenza e la disponibilità di Antonis e della sua bella famiglia a rendere tutto facile e rilassante. Un attimo di perplessità all'inizio quando abbiamo saputo che la colazione era prevista nel ristorante di Antonis a Livadi (2 km) ma dopo averla sperimentata la prima volta è stato un piacevole diversivo per iniziare la giornata: la qualità (e anche la quantità...) dei prodotti erano di piena soddisfazione e valevano senz'altro il piccolo disagio. Insomma, sistemazione consigliabilissima e da ripetere!
• Verified traveler (10/5): Definitely a good choice... - Perfect location, excellent view from balcony: chora and the bay. From the bed (and from the shower too) you can see illuminated castle. The host, Antonis was very friendly and helpful. He picked us up from the ferry port at night and drove us back to the airport.
• Verified traveler (8/5): - The studio was incredibly well fitted out with every possible amenity and the owner had left wine,and other drinks along with sweets and biscuits. The view was beautiful and balcony large . However,the swimming which was a big reason we booked in at Caldera was empty and scruffy and the whole property looked un cared for with dead pot plants and unswept paths. We realised it was early in the season but felt the owner could have let us know that in fact the pool was empty and complex not really open. We travelled a long way to get there and were very disappointed. We were the only people staying there and it felt abandoned. No staff on site. The worst thing was the very unpleasant and mouldy smell in every cupboard and wardrobe as though the plac3 had not been aired since just season. The owner did pick us up and drop us at port though for which we were very grateful. No wifi either which we were told was a service provider fault. All in a very disappointing stay.
• Verified traveler (10/5): Tolles Studio - Tolles Studio, sehr geräumig, geschmackvoll und sauber. Der Vermieter ist extrem bemüht und tut alles damit der Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich wird.
