- SuziB_11 (10/5): Very special place - I second all of the positive reviews here. Sadly my partner and I were only here for one night. But it’s the sort of hotel you don’t want to review but rather keep to yourself. A truly special place where attention is paid to every detail. We did not catch the name of the manager who was working alone the day we stayed, having given a colleague a day off. He was just extraordinary; manning reception, getting drinks and serving breakfast the next day - all with such grace and hospitality. We intend to go back and spend more time here. An absolute gem.
- johnlL3027MF (10/5): An absolute delight - My wife and I stayed at Hotel Dobra Vila for three nights. It is a boutique hotel with 11 rooms. Its architecture and interior design are unique and beautiful. The inside has a retro feel (there is a 1932 motorcycle in a window overlooking the entrance) and modern feel at the same time, with sleek lines and excellent workmanship. Book shelves filled with an eclectic collection of books line the back of hotel entrance room and sitting room, which are back to back and connected by a fireplace. The room numbers are quirky and named after local geologic and perhaps other features. There is a wonderful patio outback overlooking a large, beautifully landscaped yard and the surrounding mountains in Bovec. There is a nice little bar where drinks can be ordered. The breakfast includes full service and a buffet. The buffet is a sumptuous work of art highlighted by floral decorations. The hotel is within walking distance of good restaurants in Bivec with written recommendations by the hotel. It also is about a 30 minute drive from the famous *** Michelin restaurant, Hiša Franko, in Kobarid, Slovenia. (Hiring transport is advised if there is no designated driver). The two managers could have been more friendly or helpful.
- Fridaysmom (10/5): Charming inn located in a beautiful environment - Stayed here for 3 nights in two different rooms (had to move on the 3rd night as the room we would have like to have stayed in was booked). It is a beautiful inn and the staff were all so kind. The room we stayed in initially had a large veranda with a beautiful view. The room itself was nicely decorated, although I have to admit that as a septuagenarian that the claw foot bath tub was a bit of a challenge to get into and out of (although still quite charming). Our third night was spent in the family room, which had an attic area with two single beds (that we didn’t even go up to). It was somewhat less of a charming room as it had no balcony, but it did have a normal shower. Breakfasts were served on a lovely windowed porch and offerings were more than ample and delicious. Eggs could be ordered cooked to your preference. The inn is within easy walking distance of the town, where there are some nice restaurants and tour operators who can take you on all sorts of adventures. We did zip lining one day and a e-bike tour the next. Both were fun days. Bovec is a charming town located in a beautiful environment. I highly recommend a visit there and if you want a lovely place to stay be sure to check out the Dobra Vila.
- 657reneey (10/5): Fantastic hotel in a super beautiful area - We just loved this town, this area, and this hotel. We had a family room which was great - 2 single beds up a small flight of stairs and a big double bed with a sitting area. It was very comfortable. The breakfast was a buffet plus you could order fresh cooked eggs. Coffee was also to order. You could sit so nicely on the terrace which was very peaceful. The host and hostess were so friendly and kind. We also enjoyed drinks a couple evenings on the terrace. Simply loved the hotel! Short walk to the village to many restaurants. There is so much to do in the area, I wish we had stayed longer.

Highly recommend - We stayed one night at Dobra Vila Bovec and were thoroughly impressed by this beautiful boutique hotel. The rooms are tastefully decorated with high ceilings and offer stunning views from the balcony—something we wish we had more time to enjoy. Although we arrived late and left in the morning, the warm hospitality of the staff, the elegant ambiance, and the lovely breakfast made our short stay memorable. The checkout is 10:30 a.m. checkout. We would have loved to linger a bit longer to enjoy the views from the balcony on the sun loungers. We will definitely return.

Decorated with a vintage theme this once old telecommunication building has been given a second life . The scenery is amazing , the garden and deck, call you to share with them beauty with a glass of wine . Friendly staff who keep the hotel spotless clean and serve up an amazing breakfast . A sauna on the grounds which will relax your mind and spirt. Do not miss this place on your next visit to Bovec , this is a gem
- jj6558 (10/5): Memorable stay with outstanding staff - Art deco hotel with antique furnishings, so don't come here expecting a sleek, contemporary property. Instead this villa has a lot of history and character. The breakfast room and grounds were beautiful. We enjoyed relaxing on the terrace with a glass of wine in the afternoons. What really set this place apart was the kindness of the staff, especially the young woman who works at reception. She was incredibly warm and kind and really went above and beyond to help us.

All of our numerous questions were cheerfully answered! The backside breakfast/sitting area has great views of mountains and gels so private! We will return!
- BrambleJ (10/5): First class experience - Staying here was a real treat. The building and decor is all beautifully designed and feels calm and relaxing. Breakfast was great and presented very attractively with fresh flowers. The staff were superb - really friendly and went above and beyond to be helpful. We were sad to leave!
- HHLVR (8/5): Large room, but A/C is not efficient. - The young lady at check-in was very welcoming and professional. The hotel’s common areas are beautiful. Room was large and bed was comfortable. Air conditioning was not effective due to little air movement. We asked the staff and they said that the system’s fan only has one very low speed. As a result, the room does not get cool enough and it is stuffy. Breakfast is beautifully presented, and all the items are fresh. The gentleman serving in the breakfast room was very pleasant and efficient. Breakfast is not served until 8:00 which prevents guests from getting an early start. There is also a sign that states, “Only the first cup of coffee for breakfast is free.” Never in all my travels have I seen that type of statement in a hotel such as this. I’m not sure what management’s reasoning is behind that, especially considering the room prices charged.
- KasoViajero (10/5): A little gem - The hotel can be found at the entrance of the village, with generous private parking next to the building (free of charge for guests). The historic building is beautifully and thoughtfully restored, with a lot of attention to detail. As you get in, you will find friendly and helpful reception staff; as they also cover the terrace bar, you might need to ring the bell. The rooms are on the upper two floors and can be reached by an elevator. The spacious rooms with balcony feature a beautiful view onto the mountains (the only shortfall: no umbrellas / shading provided); for those staying in rooms that don’t have the view, there is a common terrace that features similar views (only one floor down…), and an extensive garden (a further floor down). The rooms also feature a spacious wardrobe, a minibar, and even some sockets with USB outlets; they have no desk, but rather two armchairs and a small side / coffee table. The WiFi worked well in the room (less so on the terrace). I wonder how many guests made a picture of the bathrooms, where again a lot of attention was paid to bring retro features alive – when was the last time you bathed in a free-standing bathtub that seems to be from the last century? The bathroom has space for two, and a whole cupboard for your toiletries (if you figure out how to open it…). A downside of the retro details: despite the curtain, showering in the bathtub (not comfortable anyway, with nothing to hold the shower head) leaves the room flooded. The beds are comfortable (slept very well), with two pillow types; it is blissfully silent at night – you wake up to the sound of birds. Some of the windows feature roller shutters; the curtains on the others are heavy but translucent, so don’t fully keep the daylight out. Good breakfast is included in the room charge, and served in the beautiful wintergarden; some homemade stuff is on offer, eggs and coffee made freshly for you. The check-out is earlier than usual (10 am), but you can sit on the terrace until you leave.
- HeandCo (10/5): Wonderful hotel! - Everything about Hotel Dobra Vila is first class. Our room was large, well-equipped and had mountain views from 2 sides of the room. The terrace and gardens are beautiful. The weather was warm while we were in Bovec, and it was very nice to have a late-afternoon drink under an umbrella on the terrace, or in the shade of a tree in the garden, while enjoying stunning scenery. Breakfast was served on the terrace and was excellent – scrambled eggs made to order, smoked salmon, a variety of top quality fresh fruit, very nice yoghurt as well as cereals, cheeses, cold meat, bread etc. Finally, the staff were outstanding. The receptionist/bar attendant was delightful; she was helpful, friendly and informative. She also very kindly delivered my handbag to our room after I accidentally left it on the terrace. The manager was also friendly, efficient and very hospitable. We highly recommend Dobra Vila.
- HIstvan (10/5): Great atmosphere, perfect location - We fell in love for the first sight with this hotel, when we entered at the reception. The interior is very nicely designed till the last book on the shelves. We loved our room on the top floor too. It was spacious and had a great view to the surrounding hills. The breakfast on the next morning was also delicious. Fortunately, we had a good weather, so we could have breakfast in the garden. We had great variety of food we could choose from, and the tables were lovely set. The staff was helpful, and rooms were certainly clean. The city center is in walking distance. What can I say, we loved our stay there.
- OregonRetiree58 (8/5): Good hotel overall but check other places too - Hotel was good but not great - my biggest issue would be value for the money. Breakfast was okay and yes it is in a historical former telephone exchange. Parking right next to hotel is free. Room was sort of dated but staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed a couple of days and basically went back and forth between Bovec and Kobarid in the Soca Valley. They are 30 minutes drive apart and if you love the outdoors you could could spend a week here easily. My point is that if you have a car you can home-base out of either town - and you will be spending most of your time outdoors anyway. I would check prices and if I did it again I would find a more cost-effective alternative hotel because you spend very little time in the hotel in this area. If you want to pay more this hotel is a fine alternative, nothing hugely wrong with it. I just thought it was expensive for what we got, compared to similar properties in Croatia and Slovenia.
- Ott0W (8/5): Decent place in an area with mostly basic choices - First, even though it's on the main road through town it was VERY quiet all night. Also, service is very efficient and friendly. Our bed was a bit firm and we had a leaky pipe attached to the shower/tub. But as a boutique hotel things sometimes need adjusting. All in all, a decent place for a night.
- Foodslave (6/5): GOOD BOVEC OPTION - It’s expensive hotel (EUR 260/ night) and we expected more, specifically service vise. Rooms are nice, but need renovation. The building is old, and there was strange smell in the room, which they try to cover with strong additive in air condition. There’s terrace but without privacy at all. Beds not bad, but for such type of hotel, you need to have more comfortable. Breakfast was okay. No any help with your luggage. If you need room service, go down and take by your self. The biggest advantage of boutique hotel should be better and more devoted service. On our checking out, gentlemen were nice with us (have to admit), but no helps with luggage again. For such price, you should offer more.

- nathan (6/5): 3 star hotel - Good location in the soca valley. It is a 3 star hotel With comfortable beds and an ok breakfast. The employees are helpful and kind. No air conditioning. Also, a small thing, but we got charged at their restaurant a ‘plate setting fee’ - this is not a custom in Solvenia and felt like a money grab that left a bad taste in our mouth.
- Wd4068 (10/5): Favorite Hotel - We stayed three nights in this lovely hotel with our two teenagers and we all wish it could have been longer. The hotel was beautiful and clean and the host was top notch. We enjoyed drinking wine on the porch and playing cards or relaxing. It is a beautiful setting. Additionally, the breakfast was incredible. The rest of our trip every breakfast was compared and didn’t live up to it. We hope to be back some day.
- RubyinKansas (10/5): Boutique Hotel with Personality - This is a boutique hotel experience with all the extras. It’s a historical location with a unique vibe. Has a lot of posters that bring personality. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed without being fussy. The owners are accommodating, gracious, and proud of the experience they’ve built. It’s a great place to relax after taxing hikes on the way here. The wine and beer on the terrace are an added bonus to a perfect day.

The hotel is at a beautiful location, the decor in rooms is a bit run down, but the worst thing is the attitude we got from the staff at reception, we did not feel welcome and it ruined our experience.

Our room was superb, it is great to have the garden to sit out in ( if weather is good ! ) and breakfast lovely . The owners are so keen to please without being too overpowering and gave us much good advice. It is such an advantage being away from the busy town centre but only a 5 minute walk.

- Verified traveler (8/5): OK stay, which can be improved - Our stay was ok, but nothing more than that. Room was ok, the bed was comfortable enough. It bothered us that there were quite a few tiny blood-sucking flies inside the room. We smashed one and it was bloody inside. The room 640 in which we stayed was loud in the early night and you could hear the upstair neighbour showering and flushing toilet. There were some other sounds also which may have come from the downstairs as the kitchen is right below you (something like a dishwasher etc. but very loud humming noise). Around 10pm-11pm we also experienced some food smell in the room. Breakfast was nice, although the bites were very petite and you needed to go to get food a few times more to get full. There is no warm option buffet, but you will be asked for your eggs preference and served eggs of your choice one time. Croissants were hard to get, because there were 4 pieces put out each time.

Great view and terrace Dinner is a set chef menu and quite expensive with wine pairing extra still. Breakfast a real treat in the garden. Very peaceful as the rest of Slovenia

- Parul Mittal (10/5): THE place to stay in Bovec! - Dobra vila is THE place to stay in bovec. Yuri has a little gem of a place running out here. The place just oozes class. Rooms are very tastefully done & the bed is very comfortable. There is a nice collection of books as well at the reception that you can borrow from. The best part about dobra vila is that it has the highest rated restaurant in town. When you are here, you need to have at least one dinner at this place. We loved it! I just wish we could have stayed a little longer at this place.
