Guest Reviews
- Adrian (10/5): Ian and Sheila set out to provide a unique and stylish experience and they have exceeded that aim. - A wonderful, comfortable and stylish house set in fabulous gardens. Ian is a brilliant host. The attention to detail is amazing. The location and views from the house fantastic. I recommend a walk into Melrose across the chain bridge to eat in any of the excellent restaurants of pubs. We ate in Monte Casino and Burt's Hotel, both excellent. Do take a torch. Ian's breakfast taken in the marvellous dining room is a thing of beauty. Leaving.
- Roy (8/5): very pleasant and relaxing. - Good choice of fruit. Drive a little bumpy and some pot holes.
- Joan (10/5): Excelent. Would be happy to return if visiting the area again. - Beautiful place to stay.
Special place to stay. Listed in Sawday’s.
Very luxurious and attention to detail.
Convivial atmosphere.
Delicious tea & cake on arrival.
Tasty full breakfast. No downside.
- Lauren (7/5): Lovely hosts, house and grounds! - The hosts were very warm and welcoming. We arrived later than anticipated and regret that we did not receive more information about the temperature regulation in our room and other features regarding out stay.
- Guest (9/5): Very enjoyable - Lovely breakfast.
Good location
Very welcoming
- Leonard (10/5): A Gem - Excellent . Lovely and charming house .
Breakfast is a celebration . No shower in this room
( there are in the other rooms )
- Charles (9/5): - 👍🏼
- Fiona (10/5): - Peace and quiet, extensive gardens and charming hosts. The drive up to the property was in quite a state, perhaps due to tree cutting activity?
It would add an extra dimension if there was supper offered but, I imagine that has already been discussed and decided against by the owners.
- Patrick (10/5): See 3 above - my stay in Fauhope House was an exceptional experience in every way. - I do not remember previously having ever rated a B&B, or hotel, with top marks in every box
but, in a long and much travelled life, I have awarded Fauhope House this
accolade because it is fully merited, quite exceptional. See above.
- Nigel (10/5): Heaven, I will be back every time I visit Scotland; no need to look for anywhere else. - Breakfast was as good and delicious as if cooked by TV Masterchef, lots of choice, on time and hot. Stupendous. Beautiful house, 100% comfort, peace , quiet, tranquillity. Lovely outside terraces and gardens. Hosts made me feel home away from home. Nothing was too much trouble. Near railway for trips to Edinburgh centre rather than drive. Easy parking Can't think of anything.
- Edward (10/5): Wonderful Experience - Excellent breakfast didn’t need to eat for rest of the day !! Everyone was happy and always had a smile nothing was to much trouble for owners or stafff Exellent all round Thankyou everyone Nothing
- Christine (10/5): A beautiful home with lovely hosts - Breakfnoast was lovely. Couldn't fault it. Nothing
- Julia (10/5): Perfect in every way. - Truly exceptional. Wonderful house with fabulous big rooms and great style and character. The hosts are gracious and delightful, and the location across the Tweed from Melrose with so many good restaurants, cafes and walks is perfect. We loved our three nights exploring the Borders and would very happily go back. Thank you Ian and Sheila!
- Lindsey (10/5): Faultless - We all loved everything about Fauhope. The breakfast is so delicious and plentiful. Sheila and Ian are fabulous hosts and make you feel so welcome. It is so peaceful and relaxing you just don't want to leave. Would 100% recommend and definitely will return. Having to leave.
- Ionut (10/5): - Wonderful place to stay near Melrose. Hosts are incredibly kind. The house is spacious, well decorated and comfortable. Superb breakfast. Definitely recommend to stay here Nothing
- Wendy (10/5): Beautiful property with accomplished hosts - A beautiful property - traditional country house with stylish modern touches. Location is excellent - quiet and private but very close to amenities in Melrose. An excellent jumping off point for visiting the many houses/castles and gardens in the area. Breakfast was excellent with a range of options in a gorgeous dining room with lovely views across the garden. What makes Fauhope are the hosts - Ian and Sheila who could not have been more welcoming.
- Renewable Incentive Centre Ltd (10/5): Amazing - Just amazing hosts and facilities. A must stay at for 5 star service Everything
- Mike (10/5): Sumptious, thoughtful and welcoming - with exceptional service. - The house is lovely and it is surrounded by comfortable protective woodlands and garden. Food a'plenty offered graciously and with chance to chat about the world. Staff discretely attentive and thorough and gentle with maintaining our room. Hosts friendly and knowledgeable. Lovely touches like sherry available in our room and in a fine decanter. Quite a novelty for us at least. Location good though the drive is long (!) It is good to encourage a fine stroll down to the chain bridge and into Melrose and helps work up an appetite and/or a thirst. Our specific room was incredibly well laid out with en suite and dressing room and an unexpected mini kitchen which I thought was a wardrobe! Nice touch and very useful as we needed the fridge for our things (inc meds) during our road trip in Borders. Definitely unique. And having our secluded patio and french windows to enjoy the mild air, watch the buzzards and sip a tipple with a good book. Nothing really! Surprising amount of cushions...

- John (10/5): We had a thoroughly enjoyable five night stay and enjoyed the walk into Melrose for dinner. - All the little extra touches e.g. sprig of herbs on your napkin, decanter of sherry in your room, flowers in the hallway, beautiful view from your room and breakfast in the bay windows, and the warmth of the owners. There wasn't anything we didn't like.
