- Benjamin (9/5): A night at the orchids - Breakfast was excellent and the staff very courteous and helpful.
- Eric (9/5): -

- Beatrix (10/5): Top Lage, sehr schönes, altes Hotel, reichliches Frühstück - Altes und schönes Hotel. Sehr netter Rezeptionist.
Gutes Frühstück - man kann wählen.
Top Lage - direkt in der Stadt.
- Alexandra (9/5): Amazing stay, a great hotel with lots of character and service :) the breakfast was great, I had avocado and the cutest - Beautiful inside, lots of fun art and design I only wish it was a little warmer, and we could t figure out how to lock the door from the inside 😅 I think modern locks (though I know they would not blend with the vibe/decor) would go a long way
- Küng (9/5): -
- Renee (8/5): The location, the staff and the comfort of the property made for a great stay in Bogota. - Breakfast was very good. A menu described items from a plate of fruit, to oatmeal to a variety of egg dishes. The location was great, within walking distance to all the major attractions. Staff was always accommodating and friendly. The property was very nice but the decor and some of the furnishings seemed dated or needed refurbishing. My room was quite large but the lighting was a bit too dim for me. I didn't like that I had to knock on the front door to be let into the property.
- Luis (10/5): -
- Max (9/5): Lovely place - Lovely hotel with sweet and friendly staff among the Highlights of Bogota The hotel can’t help it but after 9AM there was during the day work construction behind the hotel
- Kirsten (7/5): The Orchids is a centrally located hotel with a great breakfast but facilities are faded for the price. - Big room and bathroom and fantastic location for all the main sites. Breakfast was excellent. Everything was dusty and not that well maintained. Towels were clean but musty. Rugs were stained and not well vacuumed.
- mariem (5/5): - Richard was very friendly and helpful. It’s old.
- Richard (8/5): A stylish and comfortable stay. - Excellent, very helpful day and night managers. Good breakfast, well served. Good position, close to the historic centre. Splendid, stylish rooms.
- Pieter (10/5): Bijzonder charmant en gastvrij boetiekhotel - Gastvrije sfeer en lokatie Extreem vriendelijke en servicegerichte staff
- Peter (8/5): - Sehr gut eingerichtetes Hotel
- Daniela (9/5): -
- Larry (1/5): - Location The Orchids advertises it has a restaurant and bar. It has neither.
After staying 7 nights, I had to check out 3 days early and they charged me for the full 10 days saying it was booking.com policy. This is against the cancelation policy and I have booking.com looking into it. No response yet.
- Audrey (10/5): - The attention to detail was incredible & staff so friendly & helpful!! Breakfast was excellent too!
- Damir (9/5): Nice hotel in an inconvenient location - Although Bogota is probably the only city in Colombia that we didn't like, the staff at the Orchids hotel made sure that we at least felt safe and comfortable in the hotel. The hotel is decorated in an antique style and the dining room in particular is very pleasant. Hotel surroundings (Bogota in general). But this isn’t hotel’s fault.
- Karolynna (10/5): -
- Katia (10/5): Excelente -
- Fernando (9/5): - Todo muy bien. Me gustó mucho y está super bien céntrico. El personal de atención es muy amable.
Me gustó su estilo virreinal. Le da un toque muy especial.
- Billy (10/5): -
- Martha Jane (9/5): - Very central location. Room was large and comfortable. Good breakfast included.
- Kami (10/5): - My boyfriend and I loved our room, the bed was so comfortable, the shower and bathroom so clean, and the decoration everywhere was beautiful. It’s an amazing location to tour around La Candelaria and then uber to the other cool spots in the city. The staff was so wonderful and always available.
- Luz (10/5): Francisco, the manager couldn’t be more helpful. He is very knowledgeable and attentive to the needs of the guests. He i - It is a beautiful hotel, well kept, well located and excellent service I like everything
- Mervyn (9/5): Elegant Colombian hospitality - Beautiful building in a very convenient location close to museums and cathedral. Majestic bedroom and lovely bathroom. Very friendly and helpful staff. Highly security conscious. Could do with a few structural alterations like plug points near desk, stronger room lighting and interesting (!) plumbing ... but relatively minor complaints
- Kenneth (10/5): One night only but we would gladly return - The atmosphere and amiability of the staff Nothing
- Kari (6/5): Good location but needs a full renovation - Good location in Centro Historico close to attractions Renovations were obviously done a very long time ago and they desperately need to be done again. Aspects are not in keeping with the building which is now rundown. The one young guy running the place try’s hard but there is a feeling of coldness to the place.
- Matteo (10/5): -
- Gagan (7/5): On the whole it was a good stay - Location, Decor Our room was small and had an odd design of bathroom as it was added to the room later. Other rooms that faced the road were better lit and were larger
- Pamela (9/5): Overall I would stay again. - Perfect location for exploring the La Candelaria district of Bogota. Safe, historic and clean. Francisco was wonderful! While I appreciate the security it was sometimes inconvenient to have to be let in and let out of the property. As well, the room, while comfortable and quaint, lacked in some conveniences.
- Josep (9/5): -
- Traute (9/5): -
- Ana Ines (10/5): Amazing historical place! - Amazing historical place, great location in the heart of La Candelaria. Near many attractions, museums, shopping, monserrate, Mercado artesanal, museo del oro, museo de Botero, casa de Bolivar, museo de la independencia, teatro colon, catedral, historical places all walking distance. The staff is amazing friendly and helpful in all ways. The authentic Colombian breakfast is exceptional too, the rooms are way better than any other hotel. We loved the authentic decoration, side of the room, walking closets, huge bathroom and bathtub. The entire hotel boutique is a wonderful gem in the historical downtown of Bogota. Nothing. I Loved it all
- calparsoro (10/5): -
- Heinz (8/5): - Sehr freundliches Personal, gute Lage, Dusche & WC grosszügig gemessen Fenster zum Treppenhaus
- Anthony (10/5): Perfect location and great breakfast - Location location location Nothing
- Edward (8/5): Perfect location - Location is unbeatable in the middle of la candelaria near plaza de Bolivar and Museo Botero. Beautiful building and room. Breakfast is good. The receptionist has to let you in and out which can be awkward if they are doing something else. It's advertised as a 24hr front desk but the reality is if you turn up in the middle of the night you have to wake up the receptionist.
- Andres (10/5): -
- Robert (7/5): In the heart of the Old Town - Someone at desk 24 hours. Better locks on the room doors.
- Rebecca (7/5): Beautiful Historic Stay with Exceptional Service - The building is absolutely stunning - a beautifully preserved Spanish-style mansion with just six rooms, full of charm and character. We stayed in the King Suite, which featured a gorgeous four-poster bed, huge bathroom, and tall windows that flooded the room with light. Everything was thoughtfully designed and full of personality. Little touches like dressing gowns where appreciated!
The staff were exceptional, especially Francisco, who worked most of our stay. He was warm, friendly, and couldn’t do enough for us - from booking taxis and suggesting restaurants to helping plan day trips. We also met Richard and the housekeeper, both of whom were lovely.
Security felt excellent - you knock for entry, and Francisco or Richard will let you in promptly. The ground floor has a couple of elegant old rooms being converted into sitting areas, and a small central courtyard that’s perfect for morning coffee.
Breakfast was great, with generous portions and delicious options - I especially loved the French toast with bacon and the pancakes. The hotel is just around the corner from Plaza de Bolívar, making it ideal for exploring La Candelaria on foot. Our room faced the road, but once the windows and shutters were closed, any traffic noise disappeared. The water sometimes took a while to heat up, which is understandable given the age of the building. The room itself, while beautiful, could have used a deeper clean - areas like lamps, sills, and ornaments were dusty, and the shower floor needed a good scrub as it was orange in the ridges. When using the shower, some water went over the partition and dampened the toilet area.
When checking we hadn’t left anything behind on our last morning, we also found a Shein bag and a champagne cork under the bed, suggesting it hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly between guests.
The varnish on the bathroom floor is peeling, so if you stand at the sink barefoot, you end up with small flakes stuck to your feet. The large TV was blocked by one of the bedposts - a minor detail, but worth noting if you wanted to watch movies from your bed!
The listing mentions an on-site restaurant and bar, but they require 48 hours’ notice to arrange dining, likely because of the hotel’s small size. There’s no room service or in-room tea and coffee, but the staff are more than happy to make hot drinks on request, and you can bring your own beverages or order food in.
None of these small issues detracted from our stay - we thoroughly enjoyed it and would absolutely recommend The Orchids for anyone looking for a charming, characterful base in the heart of Bogotá.
- Marco (8/5): -
- Georges Andre (9/5): Elegant boutique hotel centrally located in old Bogota - Superb boutique hotel in a central location of old Bogota with spacious and elegantly decorated rooms. Friendly staff and great breakfast. I wish the hot water from the shower lasted longer.
- Anna (10/5): - From the start to the very end a perfect stay. Amazing decor, super comfortable & clean room, exceptional staff. Thank you.
- Ryan (10/5): - Beautiful hotel and rooms and friendly staff
- Chris (9/5): Safe, historic, friendly, recommended - Great location, historic building, great staff, lovely breakfast.
- Sabrina (9/5): - Personal profesional y amable, excelente experiencia.
- Ana (8/5): -
- Trym (10/5): -
- Suzanne (10/5): - Great location & super nice staff
- Benedetta (9/5): Consigliatissimo - Palazzo d’epoca molto bello e curato. Stanze pulite e staff gentile.
- Roberto Giurioli (9/5): -
- Malavasi (9/5): Fantástica - Todo El agua caliente no me sirvió
- Melanie (10/5): Lovely place to stay in Candelaria - We stayed in a lovely quiet room (La Traviata) which was beautifully decorated. The bed was huge and firm and they gave us complementary bottles of water. The bathrobes were a nice touch as it is quite chilly in Bogota. The shower was powerful with plenty of hot water.
Richard was extremely helpful from checkin onwards and made us fantastic coffee, freshly squeezed juice, french toast and fruit plates for breakfast. The breakfast was made to order with a wide range of options to choose from, including a variety of fresh juices, fruit plates, pancakes and cooked breakfasts if you wanted them.
Francisco was also really helpful and friendly. He booked us a taxi for the airport which made things really easy.
The hotel is beautiful and a very short walk from the Museo Botero and the cathedral among other sites. It is very secure and we felt very safe wandering around the Candelaria area.
We would highly recommend this hotel.
- Benjamin (10/5): Best location - lovely place - Great staff, nice rooms, great breakfast. Location could not be better
- Melida (10/5): -
- Rosalyn (9/5): Charming hotel in a historic building close to main attractions - Charming hotel in an old villa built around a walled courtyard. Its location is ideal right next to the Botero Museum and close to other museums. Plenty of restaurants around. The staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast was excellent.
- JOSE (10/5): - Amazing experience
Certains aiment.
- José Roberto Navarrete Lara (10/5): - Todo, cada detalle.
- Chocokarlo (10/5): The hotel itself, the room, and staff were great. Definitely recommending this place to friends. - The breakfast was in this nicely decorated and furnished room with the tv set to the news. The staff gives you a menu to choose from and they make it to order. The bacon and eggs were great, as well as the coffee. The fruit was perfectly sliced. Seriously couldn't think of one
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Quentin (9/5): Superb - The staff was nice but a bit cold. Maybe the language barrier.
Breakfast very slow as well. 45 min to get an omelette.
- Martin (10/5): The property is upscale with a strong feel of historic greatness living. - breakfast was good, location excellent. What really excels is the museum like property water bottle
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional - The staff of the Orchids were great, welcoming and low key in a nice way. The hotel was very clean and comfortable and it had genuine charm. The location was bustling but the rooms were also very quiet.
- Samuel (10/5): Fantastic place - Very cute hotel very nice staff Nothing
- Paul (9/5): A recommended stop in Bogotá - A quaint hotel in a great position in the historic part of town.
Surrounded by some great restaurants
Fabulous breakfast served in classic dining room. Nothing
- Natalie (10/5): A comfortable stay with a warm welcome in a great location - We had a fabulous stay at the Orchids. The building is beautiful and thoughtfully decorated, spotlessly clean, and the location is excellent, centrally located for Candelaria.
But the best thing about The Orchids was the staff. Christian, Marta and a third colleague whose name we didn’t get, were so very kind and did everything possible to make us feel at home. Christian gave great recommendations and helped us with lots of information. Marta provided a truly delicious breakfast and made us feel at home.
We would return to The Orchids without hesitation for any future visit to Bogotá.
- Rivas (10/5): Candelaria Pit Stop - The historic look and feel provided a traditional experience. I didn't like the lack of hand towels in the sink.
- Hanan (10/5): - Beautiful historic hotel, I felt like a royal! Convenient and walkable to the square and restaurants.
- Anushya (6/5): Pleasant -
- MIchael (10/5): - Perfect location for proximity to cultural and arts centers. Great restaurants are abundant and within walking distance. The staff was very friendly and the room was spacious with a luxurious atmosphere.
- Jeffrey (9/5): Superb - Good breakfast. Pleasant helpful staff
