Guest Reviews
- Karen (10/5): A perfect location to explore Ephesus. Highly recommend! - From the moment we arrived we were looked after by friendly staff. Our room was spotlessly clean, lovely decor and very comfortable bed. The courtyard breakfast was heavenly. The pool area was very nice only wish it had been warm enough to swim. Short walk to lots of great restaurants. Nothing
- Christine (10/5): Very pretty and charming hotel with wonderful ambience. - Everything was outstanding, especially the friendliness and the lovely atmosphere. I loved the interesting and authentic design and the comfort.
Excellent all round. There was nothing not to like!perfection Strongly recommend.

- Teresa (10/5): Great locations and very nice breakfast. - Very comfortable stay in perfect location.
- Exploration801095 (10/5): In my book, as good as it gets - This is a world class small hotel.
Beautiful architect designed building.
A small but very much adequate pool & courtyard perfect / peaceful area to unwind after the day's sightseeing.
Our room was spacious with great sunset views & fit out.
It is actualy better than the fotographs suggest.
3 nights stay, for us, wasn't enough.
Again a big thank you to management & staff.
- Xander (10/5): The best in Selcuk - Centrally located, it’s clean, comfortable and got a nice homey feel to it. The staff exceptionally helpful and friendly.
- Trina (10/5): Relaxing stay in a serene setting - Everything! The owner is an architect and his attention to detail was impeccable. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom had some of the nicest fixtures we've ever seen. But for us, there was just something magical about the courtyard. The ambiance was so soothing I could have just stayed there all day. The breakfasts were delicious and the employees were helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay here again. We liked absolutely everything. no complaints
- Anne (9/5): Delightful and memorable stay in this character full and lovely boutique hotel. We will return - Lovely room and staff and perfect location We had an upgrade to a fantastic room Nothing at all. The whole town has a poor telephone signal and the hotel do their best to get the best WiFi they can but it isn’t always possible
- rhc0819 (10/5): Perfect! - This was a wonderful boutique hotel for our stopover to visit Ephesus. It’s located in a beautiful little town, the rooms were comfortable and spacious, the staff were so friendly, and the breakfast was wonderful. They even turned on the air conditioner for us (earlier than the normal schedule) when we mentioned our room was a bit warm. Such wonderful and gracious people. We’re so happy to have stayed here!
- John (10/5): This was the ideal base to explore the archeological wonders of the surroundings. - The breakfast was excellent. We learned to value the typical Turkish breakfast with plenty of fresh vegetables, olives and cheeses. The hotel is tastefully renovated, with remarkable antique embroideries, and located very close to the site of the ancient Artemis temple. There is little to say, except perhaps that there was always soft music playing in the background of the dining area and open court. Unfortunately, it was almost always jazz. Only once did we hear some traditional Turkish music, and would have loved to have had this rather than the boring jazz piano.
- Yilan (10/5): I absolutely love this place with its unique Turkish character—highly recommended! - This is one of my favorite hotels. The courtyard is absolutely beautiful, full of authentic Turkish charm, and the ceramic decorations throughout the property really reflect the local culture and style. The location is excellent, and the hosts were very helpful and welcoming. A truly lovely place to stay.
- Jane (10/5): A gem of a hotel. One of the best we’ve stayed in. - Beautiful hotel in a quiet part of the town. Perfect for visiting Ephesus… we walked there and back. The rooms are luxurious and beautiful and everything is spotlessly clean. Free tea and coffee on tap and fresh cake offered each day. Honesty bar. Lovely pool area … as it was a quiet time I managed to do my daily laps. Staff always on hand and super friendly. Everything was perfect!
- John (9/5): I highly recommend this hotel! - This is a beautiful property with a helpful English speaking staff Nothing
- SUSAN (10/5): An Exceptional Boutique Hotel! Highly Recommend. - If you enjoy smaller boutique hotels, this is truly a standout choice. It was easily our favorite stay during a 3½-week trip through Greece and Türkiye.
Everything about the experience felt exceptional—from the warm, attentive hosts and staff to the beautifully maintained property. Our room was very comfortable (the bed alone deserves special mention), and we looked forward to each morning’s breakfast. The level of hospitality made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for throughout our stay.
It’s rare to find a place where every detail is done so well. I would be genuinely surprised if anyone left disappointed. We did experience some issues with the internet speed, mainly when uploading and working with the many photos I was taking. The staff were responsive and helped, but the connection remained a bit slow when I working on my photos. At times, I ended up tethering my laptop to my own mobile data (I was already paying for international roaming), and that worked just fine.
- Barbara (10/5): - The extreme kindness of the staff made this hotel stand out. From start to finish they were helpful, kind, and friendly and helped me with every question or need. The location is perfect--very close to the minibuses going to Ephesus, and also close to shops, restaurants, banks, and even within walking distance to a hospital, which I ended up needing to use. The decor and ambiance are old world, and the attention to detail shines through. It's a pleasure to sit in their breakfast room, courtyard, or by the pool--an oasis! Breakfast was a Turkish delight, with plenty to see you through til the afternoon. Beds were super comfortable. Thoroughly enjoyed my time there, and talking with the owners/managers was a cherry on top!
- Shayne (10/5): Cosy and comfortable and convenient - Excellent service from staff
Central location Nothing
- Taslim (10/5): -
- Katrina (10/5): Lovely and very comfortable room. The breakfast was fantastic. The hosts were very helpful, friendly and welcoming. W - Lovely and very comfortable room. The breakfast was fantastic. The hosts were very helpful, friendly and welcoming. We would absolutely stay here again!
- Katharine (10/5): Best hotel in Selcuk - This was the best hotel we stayed at during a 3-1/2 week trip through Turkey. Stylish, comfortable, quiet, great shower, and top notch staff. Great location.
- barkN2046FA (10/5): A lovely boutique hotel within walking distance to everything you need - What a lovely boutique hotel! Every little attention to detail is thought of, and the rooms and overall hotel decor reflects the owner's aesthetic. Turkish hospitality reigns supreme at this gem, from tea and cakes in the afternoon to friendly chats with the owners/managers.
I slept so well here, quiet and peaceful in the midst of Selcuk. Easy to walk to St. John's Basilica and other ruins, and restaurants and cafes are within a stone's throw. Especially helpful is the proximity to the minibuses that will take you to and from Ephesus--about an 8-min walk! Grocery stores are also close by. Although my main purpose was to visit Ephesus, I enjoyed wandering through the pretty streets of Selcuk--and was always happy to come "home" to my oasis of a hotel!
The kindness of all who work there was such a draw. They made a point of talking to everyone there, and genuinely seemed to care about each and every one of us!
The rooms are clean and very comfortable and I slept so well.
Breakfasts are heavenly and huge--buffet style and eggs on order. Coffee and tea is available all day, along with decadent cake!
I happened to get sick while I was there, and the owners/managers were so kind and helpful and directed me to the local public hospital, also within walking distance, and explained how to get the care I needed. High marks for the Turkish healthcare system!
I left early and would have missed breakfast, but they got up and packed a to-go box for me--so sweet!
I left feeling like I had made friends and would come back to this excellent spot in a heartbeat.
- mer4cal (10/5): Great Hotel and Hosts - A lovely hotel in Selcuk. The room was so nice and the beds were so comfortable. The grounds are well appointed and there was a great breakfast. The hosts went above and betibd to make our stay perfect. Easily walkable and close to the major sites. Would recommend.
- Cathy (10/5): The Akanthus staff are superb and go out of their way to make your stay very enjoyable. It is well worth the money spent - The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and tastefullly decorated . The breakfast was always delicious, and the location was perfect, close to all needed meals. Nothing

- Mike M Gojcaj (9/5): -
- Francesco (10/5): - Just over a year from our previous stay, we've been back to Selçuk and to the local 'hospitality gem' of AHE. As before, it felt just familiarly perfect! Harmonious integration of traditional architectural elements and functional facilities; the communal indoor and outdoor areas provide a calm and relaxing environment to enjoy the tasteful breakfast or an evening drink while absorbing the ideal setting; the spacious room and bathroom with shower, tastefully decorated, with tec support to satisfy the most gadget-orientated guest, a fridge, kettle and the comfortable bed. But AHE won't be the same without the truly exceptional hosts: meeting old and making new friends made our stay an unforgivable experience once again. Your friendly, warm, discrete, professional help and passion for sharing cultural insights to appreciate the beauty of your region and culture won't be forgotten. A heartfelt thank you to the owner, Muharrem, the manager, Soner, and anybody at AHE. We look forward to the next time.
- Klaus (9/5): -
- NewtonV (10/5): Heaven - This hotel is a jewel. A hidden treasure where the owners have created an immaculate ambience.
- Yosef (10/5): Very lovable, decent, and worth staying for. - The property was clean and felt just like home, with the hosts welcoming us like family after a long time apart. Very close to Ephesus and in a nice area.
- Drake (10/5): I am refreshed and grateful to have found this gem of a hotel. - Akanthus Hotel is a gem! A beautiful environment inside and on the outdoor poolside patio. Spectacular views and welcoming staff who cared for my every need. The atmosphere is peaceful and serene and feels like an oasis to come back to after each day of exploration of the history, culture and spirit of Ephesus. I cannot imagine how it could be better. Everything from beautiful architecture, delicious food, impeccable service, and serene ambience added so much to my experience of Selcuk/Ephesus.
- DMtravels (10/5): Happy with our stay, would stay again. - Conveniently located in the town centre of Selcuk just a short walk off the main road so it was quiet and easy access to a lot of restaurants. Hotel staff had kindly arranged to have breakfast earlier for us such that we could eat before catching our day tour. Clean and spacious room, and the bed was not too soft.
- Moimois (9/5): Strongly recommended - The breakfast is very good and there is afternoon snack and coffee provided every day. The room is spacious and very clean. A good location to travel to sites like Esphesus and Pamukkale. There is no elevator but the staff are helpful in moving your luggage to the rooms at upper floor.
- Zarahi (10/5): Don’t think twice…you NEED to stay here!!! Amazing stay - We stayed on a lot of hotels on this trip and this is by far the best we stayed at. What a great surprise and experience once we got there. This place is so cute, well maintained, clean and most importantly so peaceful! We loved it so much that we didn’t want to leave. Staff is also incredibly friendly
- 572DavidB572 (10/5): We only wish we could take this hotel everywhere with us! - In our view this hotel sets the benchmark against which any hotel calling itself boutique should be judged. Our stay here was outstanding from beginning to end.
The hotel is located in the characterful old part of the town, close to the Mosque and Citadel, and convenient for a good range of bars and restaurants, all of which are within a short walking distance. There is plenty of safe on-street parking in the quiet side roads around the hotel. Ephesus, the main reason most people visit the town, is a very short drive away.
Our room was extremely tastefully finished and furnished to a very high standard, using quality fittings. We actually had to cancel the first night of our two night break due to family illness so we were only booked for the one remaining night, but when we arrived the manager offered us an additional night free of charge, which we thought was a really generous gesture - our reservation was pre-paid on a no cancellation basis so there was absolutely no obligation on them to do this.
The courtyard is laid out as a pool and terrace area, which is immaculate and a great, peaceful place to pass some quiet time. One lovely touch is that there is ongoing availability of complimentary hot and cold drinks and home made cake in the dining area and terrace for guests to help themselves to all day. Breakfast was lovely, with a large range of plated cold cheeses and meats, fruits etc etc and fresh eggs cooked to order.
However for us the highlight of the stay was the time we spent sharing a drink one evening with the owner, Muharrem and the manager. Such lovely, welcoming people and nothing is too much trouble.
If you are looking through Trip Advisor trying to select a hotel to stay in Selcuk / Ephesus, then you really need look no further. Book the Akanthus, you will not regret it!
- Marita (10/5): Perfection - Everything. The most amazing accomodation! Every aspect was perfect Nothing
- Jennifer (10/5): Wonderful!! - So beautiful and the staff were exceptional! Small town with luxury experience.

- JENNIFER (9/5): Akanthus is a very nice boutique hotel and Soner the hotel manager really went the extra mile to make our stay a pleasan - We really appreciated our stay at Akanthus. The place was clean, cosy and well looked after. Breakfast was delicious and served in a meticulous manner. The hotel manager Soner was very welcoming and helpful; he provided us with advice regarding places to visit, transportation and eating places around the area. Nothing at all.

- Penelope (10/5): I could have moved in! - What a lovely hotel- a real gem of a find, located on a dead end street in a quiet neighborhood. We were warmly welcomed and even upgraded on arrival. Our rooms were very well appointed down to the smallest detail: high end linens, fluffy pillows, comfy mattress, good lighting lots of outlets. The room was good size with exceptionally tasteful decor. The bathroom was just beautiful with its hand painted sink and tile work. Many think a room is just to sleep in-- I beg to differ. THIS was somewhere you wanted to return to after a long dusty day exploring nearby Ephesus. Breakfast was plentiful with ample choices- and eggs cooked to order. As an added treat guests are provided coffee and cake all day. In a location with may choices, you cannot go wrong in choosing the Akanthus Hotel. Our hosts were wonderful and we felt like family. What's sad? I wish I had more time here. Time passed too quickly.
Świetna lokalizacja, piękne i stylowe wyposażenie pokoi i niesamowicie pomocna i sympatyczna obsługa.
- gregsf11 (10/5): Superbly run boutique hotel -probably worth the splurge - One can't really compare from only staying in one place in the town, but I researched hotels thoroughly before choosing one. I wasn't crazy about spending up to 5x more than what I could have spent in nearby properties. But you go through the list, and you find there are issues with just about every place. The #1 issue in Turkey for me is rock hard beds, and that is a problem in many otherwise nice places.
Well... there is no such problem here. The mattresses were the most comfortable in our entire time in Turkey, and I chose carefully in every place we stayed. It's something the owners are very proud of, because they chose the mattresses for their comfort. One of the four pillows on the bed was feather. (I'd prefer that they all be, but it's nice to have a choice)
The owners were quite proud of the place overall. One of them designed it.
No detail was overlooked, from the high quality fixtures and decorative tile, to the quality of the toiletries, and the coffee, tea, and cake available 24/7. We always ended each night unwinding in the courtyard with a cup of tea.
There's also a fridge in the rooms, which is convenient.
The pool was still open late October as well, but cold by then.
The owners are very personable, and will sometimes join a lively group of travelers for some evening conversation.
Breakfast was great, though it should be noted that other than eggs, it's pretty much vegetarian. But that's true of Turkey in general. There is fruit, carbs, and dairy products like cheese and yogurt. It's just a question of how varied and elaborate. If meat is even available at a Turkish breakfast, I wouldn't care to eat it, because it wouldn't be pig anyway. So within those restrictions, this was an elaborate breakfast, with many choices and good coffee.
No parking at the hotel, but street parking is surprisingly easy. Especially given that the location can't be beat. Walking distance to the better restaurants in town, and to any Selcuk attractions. Sirince is 15 minutes by car in one direction. And Ephesus is less than 10 minutes in the other. It sure beats having to drive from Kusadasi!
So great stay. The rates were definitely high, but how much is a good night's sleep worth?
- Shi (10/5): Little heaven on Earth - Our stay in Akanthus was perfection from start to finish. The hotel was one of the coziest and home-like places we've ever stayed in. Everything is spotlessly clean and designed with a great taste. The bed is very comfortable, and the bedding is crispy and super fresh. A special delight was the aroma of the soap and shower products.
The view from our room (number 10) was stunning, and every morning I just couldn't take enough photos of the city bathing in magnificent sunrise.
The lounge area is peaceful and welcoming, and the complimentary self-service all-day tea, coffee and cake are a wonderful treat.
The breakfast is very generous, with a variative buffet and an egg dishes menu, from which you can choose an option to your taste.
Thank you so very much, dear Akanthus team! We'll definitely come back whenever in Selçuk again!
- Sehr individuell, alles selbst zubereitet, traumhafter Innenhof
- Stephen (10/5): - We were upgraded to a nicer room at no additional charge. Owners and staff were engaging and helpful. Nothing.
- Viperdot (10/5): Excellent stay - This is a hidden Gem, literally, as we did not know what to expect as we walked to the hotel. But once the door opens, it is like a different place. Cosy, nice, beautiful and very friendly helpful staff. The room we stayed is beside the pool and near reception, which makes is very convenient and easy with the luggages. The room and toilet are spacious and the view is fantastic. The hotel is an easy walk to town and restaurants. Bahran and the rest of the staff are extremely helpful in helping us book taxis, checking train connections and assuring helping get us to airport on time. This hotel is highly recommended if you are going to Selcuk.
- Santiago (10/5): Experiencia acogedora - Acogedor, personal amable y ubicación insuperable.
- Felicia (10/5): I loved rhe quiet, quaint, pretty hotel with very personal service - Homey, beautifull decorated room, comfortable, clean, very good breakfast None
- Janet (10/5): Our favourite accommodations during our 2 week visit to Turkey, we loved this peaceful, beautiful gem of an hotel! - Perfectly appointed boutique hotel.
Everything was wonderful, including the decor and peaceful ambiance, inside and out in the welcoming pool/courtyard area.
The cleanliness and attention to detail was outstanding.
Our room was large and comfortable with a beautiful view.
The complimentary breakfast was delicious, staff are attentive and friendly.
- Barry (10/5): A superb boutique hotel - relaxing, intimate, and beautiful - This is a gorgeous boutique hotel, where you feel like family, not a traveler. We spent three nights in all. All the staff were friendly and eager to help, as well as kind in all dealings with us. The buildings surround a courtyard with a pool where you can sit and meditate on the lovely hillsides and farms. Laundry service was fairly priced and carefully done. The room was very comfortable with a great bathroom, and a nice view. All furnishings were chosen for their aesthetic beauty as well as functionality. Breakfast offered a wide range of selections, including eggs to order, each nicely prepared. The place was very quiet and a pleasure to come back to after a full day. Plus there is coffee, tea, and cake available throughout the day. Highly recommend.
- jimmK2740ZL (10/5): Beautiful Hotel - Great Stay! - We’re so happy we chose to stay at Akanthus Hotel! It’s a lovely small boutique place within walking distance of many sites in Selçuk and just a short ride to Ephesus. The staff are incredibly friendly and make sure everything during your stay is taken care of.
The room quality really surprised us. The bed was the most comfortable we’ve had during our time in Turkey, and the furniture and decor were all very nice and high quality. Even the bathroom fixtures were elegant — you can tell they pay attention to the little details.
Breakfast was a highlight every morning, with freshly made options like omelets, eggs, and Turkish menemen. Coffee and cake are available 24 hours a day, and the outdoor sitting area with an olive tree feels like a peaceful oasis after a day of sightseeing.
If we ever come back, this will definitely be the only hotel we’d consider. Teşekkür ederim!

- marykJ1722SP (10/5): BEST experience. Favorite hotel in all of our 2 wk trip to Greece/ Turkey. - Fantastic! We stayed 2 nights. Accidentally booked for 3 and notified them at check-in and they so kindly refunded the 3rd night. The breakfast was exceptional. The outdoor area for chatting/ snacking was simply PERFECT. Best experience. Met wonderful couple from the UK and enjoyed our talk so much. The room was DEAD QUIET. I never sleep very good in hotels but here I slept WELL. Unbelievably great experience. Loved the staff. The 2 brothers that run it are just so kind and friendly and smile non-stop. This is a MUST SEE place. You won’t be disappointed. I am not a laid back person and nearly never to reviews; so this one means a lot ;). !! You’ll love it.!
- Antoni (10/5): Why would you want to stay anywhere else?? - We have stayed in many hotels around the world over the years and this was one of our most pleasant experiences. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are stylishly decorated in classical way and comfortable. The ambiance of the whole place was homely and welcoming. An ample and fresh breakfast was served on the covered patio next to the pool and under an old olive tree. We were able to walk to all the major attractions or you could just take a short taxi ride to the archeological site entrance.
- Alain (10/5): Een plek om zeker terug te komen: uitstekende locatie, mooie kamers, klasse-service - Een fantastisch plek. Dichtbij de naburige bezienswaardigheden zoals Efese en in Selcuk zelf. Uitermate verzorgde kamers, uitstekend ontbijt en uitzonderlijke service. Niets
- Jane (9/5): Wonderful place to stay for Ephesus and other sites - A beautiful little hotel. Very tastefully designed and furnished. Close to Ephesus and on edge of Selcuk and many restaurants.
Ideal for sightseeing. Great breakfasts Very little not to like .

- Karen (10/5): Warm and welcoming small hotel - What a beautiful small hotel! We were thrilled when we stepped inside the gate to the "oasis" that met us- lovely pool, comfy sofas and chairs for a variety of seating outside and in. Our room was huge and very comfortable. We had to request an early breakfast one morning due to a tour we were taking and they accommodated us no problem. Everyone was very friendly and just the vibe in general was warm and cozy - our favorite kind of place! nothing

The location is close to Ephesus sites (within 20 minutes) and there are restaurants and a nice walking path within easy walking distance.
