Guest Reviews
- Ryan (2/5): - No one at the counter when we showed up. Took 20 mins for them to get there. Door would not lock and no latch on the door. No hot water in the room. Carpet was very dirty.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - .
- Ericka (2/5): Roach Motel - Roaches everywhere, didn't enjoy my stay at all.
- Crystal (10/5): - It’s
- Jeremy (6/5): - Its good enough for my needs
- Verified traveler (10/5): - No complaints. Everything was great.
- Jordan (2/5): Didn’t even stay because no one answered! - Showed up for check in around 11:20pm - the site says we’re able to check in until midnight. No one answers our multiple rings of the bell and knocks on the window, even though we can hear noises coming from inside the office. This place sucks. I better be getting a refund from hotels.com.
- Jermaine (2/5): - Horrible and dirty place stinks flies and nets
- Armand (6/5): - The place is well managed and clean. But location and amenities are drawbacks.
- Judith (2/5): - By the first the receptionist need more training he asking me to pay I told him I ready did but he can’t found my suscripción I gat mad I told him ok let me call to cancel but he call someone and finally found me on the system
The room was smelling horrible I has to spryer and turn on the ac but still I got headache 🤕
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a great time here!! The parking area was a little tight but other than that it was great!! Would definitely stay here again!!
- ToniW760 (2/5): A real dump - Looks like a dump outside fades paint, old faded business sign, office is all the way in the back, no ice machine, horrible neighborhood, high priced, the lady at the front desk
keeps odd hours arrives late, leaves early, 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm are the office hours.
What IF you need front desk for any reason???

The customer service was good. The receptionist agreed to check us in earlier since we had arrived sooner and to check us out later as our flight was after the checkout time. The room was clean when we arrived. We did notify them for very small roaches that were seen and they told us that they were gonna take care of them asap. The area is a little shady but it was safe for us to park our rental car for seven nights there. We didn't notice anything unsafe there and if you're not interacting with the locals, you'll be fine. The location is close to most tourist attractions in the north of LA. The coffee maker was hard to use, and we ended up using the microwave oven to make coffee. Hope you enjoy your stay there.
- Miguel (10/5): - For the price it was phenomenal. It was very clean and comfortable. I am very pleased with the service. I would book a room again.
- jareds578 (2/5): Bed bugs! - Average budget motel. I was happy enough until I woke up covered in bites! I pulled back the fitted sheet and saw the bugs. There were enough bites all over my body that there was no chance someone else hadn't already alerted the staff before I got there. When I told the man at the front desk, there was no apology, just a curt "I'll take care of it". Would not stay here again.
- SvenW831 (4/5): Budget budget - Place is the only affordable place in Los Angeles during our stay. There is no interaction with the staff except for the (bullet proof) window where you get your key. I think they used paper as walls because you could overhear every conversation of the neighbours.
The reason for the bulletproof glass is probably the Sketchy neighbourhood. The thing is that it makes no sense to stay south of downtown Los Angeles because the traffic will make sure that every highlight of the city is at least 40 minutes drive. Would recommend travellers to stay west of the city for example Calabases because the travel time to Hollywood or Santa Monica is the same and you get a better accommodation for lesser money.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good for bachelors snd friends - The room was ok. The receptionist were welcoming. Would recommend this for bachelors and friends.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Horrible hotel. Prostitutes everywhere, people renting by the hour, you can hear EVERYTHING, and I mean everything, happening outside or right next door. Bed was hard as a rock, tv got 5 channels, 3 of which were in Spanish, and the others were religious. We paid up front in full for 4 nights, went up to the room and immediately called back to the “office” and asked how we could get a refund. Do not stay here.
- YK (4/5): - there is no lobby, you will be check-in with a small window in the side of parking area. not feel comfortable with such check-in. there is an old man KNOCKS door at 1030 for each room. unless you enjoy the personal wake up at door, but this was the first time for me. I am not comfortable with such check-out notice.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Scary hotel in a scary neighborhood. Cockroaches! - Stay some place else, we had to sleep with the lights on to prevent cockroaches climbing on us. Next room to us people were smoking pot and making lots of noise.
- Verified traveler (6/5): It is a Motel closed to USC - The room was well remodeled and looks very nice. However, we fund cockroach in the both room.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Okay Hotel - This is a good one night stay hotel the area is very sketchy, and its a very noisy area. Overall, the room is okay the room is quite small and the comfort level of the room is not the best.
- pollianyr (6/5): Sketchy neighborhood - The hotel itself is clean and comfortable, so for the price you're paying it's cool. However, don't go out at night without a car. We went to a drive in fast food joint and there were guys harassing customers in line to give them food.
I wouldn't go back now that I have a kid.
- taleshiag2017 (4/5): Whiskey Tango Foxtrot - We reserved the room for almost a week. There were no hangers, no drawers the ironing board cover had a hole burned. The coffee maker was broken, there was no tv guide. No full length mirror. Room got cleaned.
- cindysE56CE (8/5): Clean & close to attractions & very friendly personnel - Rooms are clean & well maintained, very busy street but rooms are quiet, parking is tight but do-able. They do offer `breakfast` but leaves something to be desired....billed as bacon & eggs...plenty of eggs, no bacon any day I was there. Easy walking distance to Universal Studios
- jwu5 (8/5): Big and comfortable rooms with very nice attention - The motel is less than 30 mins drive of LA main attractions and has supermarkets and gas stations near by. The room was very spacious and clean and I really appreciated the attention of the owners.
I was 20 weeks pregnant during my stay and we got a couple of big boxes with baby stuff that we purchased in our trip and needed to pack. At arrival, we were assigned a second floor room and I asked if a ground floor room was available. It was not, but the next morning they call me around 10 am telling me that a room was available and it was already cleaned for me to move there. That helped us a lot and I was really thankful for their interest in their customers.
- whereoff2 (8/5): Clean and tidy - It is in a dodgy part of town but I did not have any issues with the locals at all. The owners were pleasant but not overly enthusiastic and getting a smile was like pulling teeth.
It was nice to have my vehicle off the street and the room was clean. I think it was create value for money and close to downtown LA.
- K352ZTkareng (10/5): President - It was for a motel, a pleasant experience. The owner is very pleasant. The rooms are clean, spacious and toiletries well stocked. Location is ok. Must drive for services. Quite kind of place.
When in LA ON BUSINESS, I would return.
- alenyg2016 (8/5): Would stay again - We stayed for one night only. The room seemed clean enough, although the room smelled a lot like smoke. The location looks a little sketchy, but we didn't have any trouble. Free on site parking was great and not too many motels have that option in LA. Decent price too. I'd stay again if I'm around that area.
- ags994 (10/5): A great place to stay! - We had a very good time in El Rancho. The staff was very very helpful and friendly. The room was huge and more than enough for five people. Everything looked like newly refurbished. Beds were comfortable and the room had everything we could possibly need on a student budget. The only problem was the parking space, there is not enough maneuvering space for a big SUV. Every main attraction is only a short drive away.
I would definitely stay there again if I had a chance!
- Golditravel (10/5): Amazing place with amazing stuff - We arrive our first night to the place, the staff was very nice and room was very good, the location is a bit far from the down town but if you with car it's not a problem at all.
Very recommended place will definitely stay there again in my visit to LA
- dang523 (6/5): OK Enough... - Wanted a budget one night place to stay near LA's downtown entertainment area (Staples center, Microsoft Theater, etc.). El Rancho Motel came up as one of the less expensive options without a majority of terrible reviews. Here's my high and low-lights:
Pros
Comfortable bed and pillows
Microwave and fridge in room
Free WiFi
Nice shower (good water pressure and plenty of hot water) - looks recently remodeled
Freeway close
Air conditioned (although took a while to cool the room to desired temperature)
Room reasonably clean (not withstanding some kind of gross stain on one of the extra pillows)
Free parking in lot
Cons:
Although we didn't encounter any problems it was kind of a sketchy neighborhood
Bathroom lighting seems like you are in a cave
No closet or dresser - just a hook on the back of the bathroom door
Too much sunlight comes in the morning around the window curtains (tip: bring night shade blinders)
No lobby - you have to ring a bell for service
Bottom line: I didn't feel it was a good value ($90 out the door with taxes and fees seemed a bit steep for what it was) but it wasn't a bad place to stay for a night.
- catrionac319 (6/5): Run down but clean - My husband booked this place for two nights while we were in LA. The area is a shocker and to be honest, I nearly walked out as soon as we got there. The guy who takes your money sits behind a curtain and peeks out at you which is a bit disconcerting. The room itself was large and did have air albeit a very old unit. The bathroom smelled of bleach so had been cleaned even though the tiles were chipped and falling off. The bed was pretty comfy and large, pillows awful but I bought my own. It had a fridge and a table with chairs in the room and a TV. Despite the location ( which isn't their fault) it was an ok stay.
- amy270486 (6/5): Not best location - New motel, have everything you need and is clean and comfortable. Not in the best or most convenient of locations though. Takes a long time to get anywhere north of downtown. Area isn't the best, wouldn't particularly feel safe walking around late at night but for a couple of days stop it worked for us.
- Vatuce (8/5): Very clean and new - It was a very clean motel with spacious rooms. No breakfast or vending machines but loved the cleanliness and location. If you don't want to drive to downtown, there is a metro bus stop just a few steps away and you'll get to the downtown in no time.
- TheLuggX (6/5): AN AFFORDABLE URBAN GEM - Hubby and I stayed here for 4 nights and we were satisfied. The rooms are furnished like small studios but it works. The only cons were the bad lighting (for makeup application) at the sink, nonexistence of closet space or luggage racks for your clothes and limited parking when they're fully booked. Overall, centrally located near great restaurants, ex. Waba grill, Roscoes Chicken and Waffles, & taco trucks. Also, close to Planet Fitness and downtown L.A. via freeway.
- jessieb252 (8/5): Nice hotel - Ok so the neighbourhood doesn't look nice or safe but we didn't have any problems the whole 6 days there. The people are pretty friendly.
The hotel doesn't look much from the outside. But they are doing it up. We have a newly done room and it's gorgeous. A big bed, huge shower. Nice big TV with so many channels. The wifi is ok not great but it's good enough. The hot water takes a little time to come through. But overall we enjoyed staying here. There's buses to downtown LA shops near by.
- MikaS71 (8/5): clean and well working motel - one of the best motels i stayed on my roadtrip with a friend.
Place is clean and everything was working. Close to airport so stayed there again before flight back to europe.
Tried the larger suite there for the last night - just for fun
- 195jinh (6/5): Pretty good and all - But the neighbourhood is indeed can seem very dodgy, where you can smell pots and people with dogs on lose walking around at night. Daytime it gets better but this is a typical local people's place, indeed quite far from the airport, hollywood and disneyland. Apart from that, the motel rooms are clean and tidy, the owner was very nice and everything was great.
