Guest Reviews
- Shinobu (10/5): -
- Tricia (10/5): A wonderful accommodation with even more wonderful staff - The hotel is lovely and not too big. The breakfast is very good. The gym is good and well maintained. The rooms and pool are very very clean and comfortable. Our room was perfect for a family as it had an amazing amount of space. It was never a problem to find a nice place to relax around the pool. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My husband left his wallet at the hotel and the staff even brought it to us at the airport so we would not miss our flight. This was exceptional service and I cannot recommend this accommodation highly enough. I cannot think of one thing I would have changed.

- Gail (9/5): A great spot in a lovely city. - Koulen Hotel is located within easier walking distance of Pub Street and the riverside markets and food stalls (around 15 minutes at a slow pace). There are plenty of food places around and the supermarket is really close. It’s easy to get a Tuk Tuk from right outside to the main sights. Staff were friendly and helpful and the pool area was very nice. The included massage was a lovely bonus too. Everything was good.

- Michele (10/5): - We loved our 5 night stay at the Koulen Hotel. After travelling two months in Asia, having such a spacious room with a small kitchenette, kitchen table and living room was a real treat. We had some a/c issues at the beginning and Bo worked with us to find the perfect unit. The pool was fantastic and the grounds are lush...feels like a paradise. Staff was incredible from restaurant, front desk to cleaning. We enjoyed the room service...food was reasonable and tasted great! The front desk arranged our tuk-tuk driver for the two days that we explored the temples of Angkor Wat and we really enjoyed him. Location is great...away from all the noise of Pub Street but close enough to walk. Front desk also arranged our airport transfer...a bit pricey but comfortable and dependable. The pool water was a bit warm, probably because the sun is constantly beating on it.
- Grégory (10/5): Incroyable séjour à Siem - Le personnel était incroyable. L’emplacement superbe. Chambre très spacieuse. Equipments superbes (salle de sport, piscine). Bar et petit dej de qualité. RAS
- Carol (10/5): -
- Robert (9/5): - Staff and pool
- Dalia (9/5): Perfect vacation! Quiet and pacefull! - The silence! Super quiet and in a great location!!
- XIAOCONG (10/5): -
- Ani123 (10/5): An oasis in the city - We recently had a one week stay in a 4 bedroom suite at Koulen Hotel. The suite is huge!! 2 large balconies, a king size bed in each bedroom and full bathrooms attached to each bedroom. The living area was massive with large sofa and dining setting.
The hotel is in a great location, easy walking distance to the river, made in Cambodia market and many nice restaurants. The staff were all very welcoming and were happy to offer advice and assist with restaurant & activity bookings etc.
My husband used the spa and said the massage was very good.
The breakfast buffet was good and had changes everyday so it didn't get boring after a week.
Thanks Koulen staff for making our holidsy so special!
- Adeline (9/5): Excellent variety and quality of breakfast, helpful staff and Big rooms. Highly recommend. - The staff. Bo the other staff were super helpful
Huge bedroom and bathroom with big living area.
Khmer new year celebrations.
Excellent breakfast. Variety as well as quality were superb. Food poisoning from the squid from room service I ate just before we went out for dinner. Violently ill at a fancy restaurant and vomited everywhere. Felt terrible and had to abandon dinner.
- 213dustino (10/5): Unforgettable hotel experience - We had an incredible experience staying at the Koulen hotel during our family vacation to Siem Reap. The hotel staff were amazing! Lin who is the reception manager was so attentive and caring. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. The hotel had a nice gym, excellent breakfast and a pool that my kids could not get enough of. The hotel is also in a perfect location in the city. It’s walking distance to the Cambodia hand crafted market, the best grocery store in Siem Reap, a nice mall with an awesome movie theater that played movies in English and lots of other cultural sites. I will absolutely stay here again on future trips to Siem Reap.
- Daniel (10/5): - The most beautiful hotel in Cambodia! And a great staff!
- 555skyb (10/5): Great visit and great hotel - We had a great visit to Siem Reap and really enjoyed the stay at the Koulen Hotel. The suite is very spacious, great quality of furniture, nice and personal touch. Above all the staff were great, friendly, warm and helpful. Special shout to Salorn who walked us through the unit, explained the amenities and made recommendations for our visit. The spa services were great as well, with excellent technics, smoothing environments and great services. I highly recommend the hotel.
- Thomas (10/5): - The location, staff, and facilities were great.
- Emma30589937177 (10/5): Wonderful stay in Siem Reap - We had an absolutely huge and very comfortable 2 bedroom room at this hotel, with a massive living area, it was virtually an apartment! The staff were all very friendly, helpful and professional, and the pool area is gorgeous to come back to and chill out after a day at the temples. Breakfast buffet had a great selection and was delicious. They also gave us a takeaway breakfast for our our sunrise Angkor tour. Easy walk into centre or a quick 2 minute tuk tuk if your legs are tired.
- Ruth (10/5): - Very helpful friendly staff.
Very comfortable hotel and great location Nothing!
- David (10/5): Wonderful stay, staff were all so welcoming, large rooms and pool area, overall so relaxing. - Everything was great, staff all attentive and welcoming, particularly Salorn, room was huge with separate bedroom and well appointed, we loved the large resort style pool area with plenty of loungers and a nice thatched roof pool bar. Plenty of options for breakfast and overall the hotel was so relaxing. The outdoor balcony on the road side wasn't that usable overlooking workers next door.

- 338mattyd (10/5): Excellent Hotel - We stayed in the 2 bed, 3 bathroom suite with large kitchen and dining area.
The hotel is situated approx 1 km from centre (pub st).
2 dollars in tuk tuk.
The staff were so friendly.
The hotel has a nice pool and the breakfast is a buffet with a great selection of fruits, cereals and Kymer food
We booked a trip with driver and guide to Angkor Wat through the Hotel.
Our guide Sithon was brilliant.
Be aware it can be very hot so bring plenty of water and a hat and shade.
- Maya (10/5): - This is the best hotel in the world. Giant rooms, lovely pool, amazing staff. Nothing.
- Tracey (10/5): A quiet hotel with spacious rooms and a delicious breakfast - The rooms are spacious and everything was so clean. A beautiful big pool to relax in and an adequate gym so we could workout daily. The breakfast was always so delicious with lots of choices and the staff always so friendly and made us feel like royalty. Definitely coming back to stay again in the future.
- Linda (9/5): Friendly staff. Would recommend to family and friends. - Location. Friendly staff. Helpful with my wheelchair bound parent.
- Matthew (10/5): Beautiful hotel & incredible staff - We had the most incredible stay at Koulen Hotel and genuinely can’t recommend it enough.
The hotel itself is stunning, with a beautiful pool, and the room was perfect.
All the staff were so incredibly kind, welcoming and genuinely helpful. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, whether it was recommendations, questions or just making sure we were comfortable, they went above and beyond every time.
A special thank you to Bo, the wonderful concierge, who made our trip extra special. One of the nights we stayed was my partner’s birthday, and when Bo found out, he secretly organised and covertly liaised with me to plan the most thoughtful surprise. When we were heading out to dinner, my partner was completely caught off guard by a beautiful cake and such a sweet celebration from Bo and all the staff. It was such a thoughtful moment that my partner and I appreciated so much and made our stay even more special.
We couldn’t recommend this place more 💛
- Alan (10/5): - Clean, tidy, great staff, good location
- 167vigneshs (10/5): AMAZING HOTEL # - Great hotel at the heart of Siem reap.closely located to all amenities include Angkor market, park, Royal palace ,Riverside walk and to old market.Very will maintained with good swimming pool, gym and dine in place @ sala cafe with best team of staffs in placewho make our stay a memorable one.Huge thanks to front desk team Bo, Salorn, Chivdin and Savourt and without missing the amazing bartender Bonh who makes best cocktails 🍸 for us.keep it up guys. Highly recommended
- Nicky (10/5): - Large rooms and exceptional breakfast. Pool was amazing. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Dikas on front desk was great and Park, our bartender was also amazing.
- Barbara (10/5): Lovely hotel with amazing staff, in a good location. - The pool area was stunning, and a great place to relax after a busy day. Our room was lovely, very clean with a comfortable bed and stunning bathroom. But the best thing about the property was the staff, especially Mr Bo at the front desk at Miss Ratha at the pool bar and restaurant. Both of them took excellent care of us and were a pleasure to interact with. We are really hoping to return to this lovely hotel in the future. Nothing, everything was fantastic.
- Paul (10/5): Excellent hotel in Siem Reap! - Very nice hotel in a great location. Room was great, pool area is lovely and relaxing, location is ideal. Stayed for 9 nights didn't want to leave. Staff are also exceptional. Nothing

- Susan (10/5): A perfect place to stay in Siem Reap. - Loved our stay at Koulen Hotel! The staff are so friendly and helpful, especially Bo and Savoeurt, they remembered our names and were genuinely interested in our day.
The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The grounds and pool are so beautiful and peaceful. We slept very well and recommend a room overlooking the pool for quietness. The breakfast was amazing with so many different choices. We loved the fresh fruit, egg station and the noodle soup and a pastry to have with coffee.
The location was a short walk to Pub Street, or a fun ride in one of the many tuk tuks for only $2USD. Highly recommend for couples and families. Having to leave.
Excellente literie. Très bon petit déjeuner et super piscine.
- Casey (10/5): - I had an incredible stay at Koulen Hotel. The resort has such a great holiday vibe, with a stunning pool and beautifully spacious rooms. The bathrooms are huge and everything throughout the hotel is spotless.
What really made the stay special was the staff. Especially Bo, who went above and beyond for us!They were incredibly kind, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. They helped organise day tours, recommended fantastic restaurants, and made everything so easy. The hotel tuk tuks also made getting around Siem Reap simple and convenient.
They truly made our stay memorable for all the right reasons. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cambodia.
- Ccslbrown (10/5): The perfect oasis in Siem Reap - Beautiful staff and surroundings. Peaceful pool area with gorgeous and very well kept rainforest type garden. Happy hour row two one at the garden bar.organised tours for us. Lovely food and breakfast. Well priced spa massages.

- William (10/5): Wonderful intimate atmosphere and service. Highly recommend - Wonderful service and facilities. Intimate atmosphere as opposed to large luxury hotel chains. Huge spacious rooms. Highly recommend. My wife's massage was best she has ever had.
- Gary (8/5): 3 day visit - Most things Breakfast was not exciting
- Peter (10/5): -
- artemis1 (10/5): Lovely hotel in a quiet location - We recently stayed for 10 nights at the Koulen Hotel. This was probaby our 5th time in Siem Reap over an 18 year period and we tend to stay in different hotels, there are so many to choose from that it’s nice to try somewhere new. We booked the Koulen as it was a nice walking distance from the main centre (having previously booked somewhere that required a tuk tuk to get to the centre didn’t suit us), and the room looked spacious and the pool a good size.
First off, the hotel is in a nice location, easy walk into town whichever route you took. The staff were all so friendly and lovely, although we didn’t require any assistance on anything. Breakfast was nice enough but we were disappointed by the lack of mango at breakfast (at the Aviary last year it was on offer every day and it was just SO delicious). Anyway, a quick question to one of the waitresses as to whether they had any, and she brought a plate of it and I casually mentioned we’d love it every day. Thereafter every morning a plate of mango would be brought out for us and this was a highlight for us. I wasn’t sure if we would get a “mango surcharge” on our bill at the end as we had specially requested it but we didn’t. So a huge thank you to the staff for this. There is just something about the mangoes there that is so yummy.
We had booked a one bed suite but on arrival were told we’d been given a 2 bed as it would face a quieter part of the street. And indeed it was peaceful as our bedroom faced the side street, and I’m a light sleeper so if I say it’s quiet it must have been. I would say that the living area was crazily huge and I’m not sure even 4 people would need an area that seemed big enough to play a game of football in! We never used it and just walked through it to get to our bedroom which was a nice enough size and the bathroom was decent with a nice powerful shower. For us though, I think a more normal hotel room would probably suit us better although perhaps the one bed suite would have felt more suitable in size, what we had just felt like a huge dead spacious area that we had to walk through. That said, it did mean it was quiet and that was appreciated.
The pool area itself was very nice but as someone else has noted, there weren’t enough beds. Most days we were there early so it was fine, but a couple of times we went to the pool mid afternoon and had to sit on the 2 chairs that were available. Given the size of the hotel, I think they need to have a lot more lounges available, even if they are placed on the lawn area further from the pool. A small and easy change that would make a huge difference. Thankfully it didn’t affect us too much at all but it would be a consideration for us in future.
I did use the gym a few times and that was pretty reasonably equipped, you just need to turn the lights and air con on (and off) when you use it.
Plenty of laundry places on the main street behind .
In summary, we did enjoy our stay there and could recommend it to anyone.
- kenneth (10/5): A perfect short stay in Siem Reap - could easily have stayed longer - Welcoming friendly staff, really nice suite - comfy bed and nice big bathroom - nice terrace with views over the tropical garden and pool. Location about 10 mins walk from “pub street”, perfect 😊
- thenomadiccanadians (10/5): By far our best hotel experience! - First we wanted to call out all these people at the Koulen hotel. All of them were unbelievably nice, super helpful and wonderful to talk to making our experience so great. It’s a long list but we want to show our appreciation for all;
Manager - Malidy and Supervisor - Lin + the rest of the team. Bo, Chhon, Dika,Salorn, Saveout, Chivon, Rotha, Seyhap, Reaksar, Bonh, Amey, Thong, Sinaty - thank you to each and every one of you!! For all those we did not mention, from housekeeping to kitchen staff thank you!
Beyond the amazing staff, the hotel is absolutely perfect. Super clean, very comfy rooms and bed, fantastic shower, the best wifi and to top it all off a fantastic breakfast!!
The location is superb! Very quiet area yet you can easily walk everywhere or take a cheap tuk tuk.
We would highly recommend staying, it’s one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had.
One more mention - the hotel set up a couple of tours for us with the amazing Pheara (English guide) and Mr Loy the best driver in town! Try to ask for them.
To everyone at the Koulen Hotel; See you when you see us 😀
- 879stevens (10/5): Great stay and fantastic tour - I had a fantastic time staying here. Clean room, friendly staff. Highly recommend to do the tour arranged by the hotel. Driver and guide to go see the temples with Yim Sithon. Very friendly, great English, and most importantly a fantastic understanding and appreciation for the the history that he can share. Also an excellent photographer and he can share all of his best shots with you direct to your phone from his professional camera. A must do if you're staying here.
- HenrySchalkhaar (10/5): Fantastic Siem Reap hotel, highly recommended - The Koulen Hotel in Siem Reap is truly a fantastic hotel where everything is done right. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere is relaxed and well organised, and this feeling remains throughout the entire stay.
Location
The location is ideal. The hotel is situated in a quiet neighbourhood, just outside the busy city centre. Nevertheless, the centre is easily reachable on foot within 10 to 15 minutes. The sidewalks are in good condition and generally free of obstacles. If you prefer not to walk, tuk tuks are always available and will take you almost anywhere in the city for around 2 to 3 US dollars. The reception staff are happy to assist with arranging a tuk tuk and, if needed, with route guidance using Google Maps or other navigation apps. Cambodian tuk tuks are more comfortable than in the past and, compared to those in Thailand, they allow better views of the surroundings. Traffic in Siem Reap is calm, which makes the rides pleasant.
Staff
What truly sets this hotel apart is its staff. It is remarkable how consistently friendly and helpful everyone is. Whether at reception, during breakfast, at the pool, or housekeeping, all staff members are genuinely kind, attentive and service-minded. They always take time for a friendly chat and never appear rushed, which greatly contributes to the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere of the hotel.
Rooms
The rooms are spacious and comfortable, featuring a pleasant seating area and an excellent bed that is not too firm. Everything is clean and well maintained. A small improvement could be the addition of more tableware in the room, such as extra plates and cutlery, but this is only a minor detail in an otherwise very well-equipped room.
Pool and garden
The large swimming pool combined with the tropical garden is absolutely beautiful. The garden is clearly maintained with great care; the gardeners do an excellent job. Together, the pool and garden create a peaceful and almost idyllic setting. There are plenty of comfortable sun loungers available, as well as pool towels. This is something you really need to see to believe.
Value for money and services
We booked early directly with the hotel and received an excellent early-bird discount, including free cancellation. None of the major booking platforms could compete with these terms and prices. The hotel can also easily arrange airport transfers to and from the hotel, which adds to the overall convenience.
Conclusion
If you are visiting Siem Reap and looking for comfort, tranquillity, outstanding service and a great location, the Koulen Hotel is an excellent choice. Highly recommended.
- PamHockenberry (10/5): Lovely property in Siem Reap - Spent two nights at this lovely property. Everything was great. Room was a bed with living and kitchen space. Was terrific to have so much space to acclimate. Pool was refreshing and the property is lovely. Breakfast buffet was wonderful. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was great it’s is very close to the royal palace. There were plenty of restaurants within walking distance or by a short Tulum ride.
- 894barbaraz (10/5): Rooftop Oasis in the middle of Saigon - Beautiful hotel with an incredible rooftop bar and pool. The view from the top is beautiful as is the beautiful spirit of our server, Sreykhouch. She was friendly and engaging going out of her way to be sure we were comfortable and that everything was as we wanted. The drinks were very good and the tempura shrimp were the best I've had.
The rooftop is an oasis in this city. The main pool is crystal clear clean with a beautiful water feature flowing into it. The other 2 smaller pools are equally inviting with a swim up bar in one and ample lounge areas around all.

- aarondenverl (10/5): A wonderful Oasis in Seam Reap - A calm paradise in Seam Reap.
The first thing our family noticed was how warm and kind everyone is at Koulen hotel, Chivon, Savoeut and Salorn to name but a few of the staff, were all exceptional. We toured Angkor Wat and the hotel sorted everything out for our family, and when our little one was feeling a bit hot and overwhelmed by it all, our guide and driver just adapted quickly, with so much kindness and laughter.
The pool is great with a shallow area for play as well as a deep area and a few plunge pools for extra fun. Food was also great with a good variety of Khmer and western dishes.
Honestly could not recommend this place enough if you are travelling with your family.
- TimT_10 (10/5): A great hotel experience and a great value - I do lots of international travel, mostly in spots geared towards tourism. And the Koulen Hotel was a surprising find.
The location is towards the north side of Siem Reap, close to the National Palace, Angkor Museum and one of the supermarkets -- and close to the road that feeds into to all the ancient temple complexes. As a photographer, the temples were the reason I was spending 5 days in Cambodia.
Overall the Koulen Hotel fit what I was looking for in every way. My room was quite generous, with living room with fridge and kitchen, bedroom with nice desk and wardrobe, balcony, bathroom with generous sink area and shower. Fast WiFi. The only downside was the decor was a bit sparse.
Their buffet breakfast was excellent; lots of fruit, yogurt, cereal, pastries, coffee/tea choices, omelet station, Asian breakfast dishes, and the wait staff was top level.
There was also an in-house restaurant and if I didn't want to bother with one of the many outside dining spots, the hotel's place did solid cooking of Asian or Western style dishes.
The hotel also had a spa (with one free session), a bit of a gym, and a big pool, great for swimming after a day hiking the various temples.
The whole place was fairly luxurious as well as being a significantly better value than a similar hotel in the resort towns in America and a waay better value than anything you'll find in Europe.
But the thing that took the Koulen up a level is the quality of the service. In my five days there, the professionalism was abundantly clear plus there was a generosity of spirit that was touching. The folks there are just super-nice.
This level of quality was particularly useful given the nature of the Siem Reap area. Like most everyone, I was there for the temples. And the hotel's entire approach was built on making that side of the equation as user friendly as possible.
From the start they provided a range of materials on what to see as well as the staff and any drivers or guides that might be needed. I worked with Selon, the hotel's helpful concierge and with the front desk each afternoon to plan my trips.
I was doing solo excursions based on my photo requirements but the pricing was still a great value. And the system they had in place and the drivers made the experience first rate.
Bottom line, the Koulen is a great value and a smart choice for those who want to visit the amazing temples in the Angkor Wat area.
- Johnnie_Tee (10/5): Perfect - So good we decided to extend our stay here.
It’s a lovely hotel in a great location. Easy access to national museum and royal gardens. Walking distance to centre of town.
What makes this place so good is the staff. Each one works hard to ensure you have the best possible experience. Little things like providing a pack lunch when you miss breakfast to go on a sunrise tour.
I also did the cookery course which included a brilliant trip to the local market with the chef.
Tried to make a list of all of the helpful staff - Salorn, Bo, Chivon, Eng the chef, the massage ladies and all of the restaurant staff.

- Timothy (10/5): Relaxing oasis in the heart of Siem Reap - My family and I spent a relaxing week at Koulen Hotel. The hotel is in a great location within walking distance of shops and restaurants, including a 12-minute walk to pub street. Our suite was spacious, clean and well appointed, and the beds were comfortable. The staff were very friendly and accommodating throughout our stay and helped us arrange tours, massages, and tuk tuks when needed. (Special thanks to Dika and the rest of the front desk team for their help throughout the week!) The breakfasts and ordered food was good, and we spent a few hours each day by the pool sipping the delicious signature cocktails and mocktails. Our suite faced the street, which can be a bit noisy at times. We slept soundly, so it did not bother us. However, light sleepers may want to ask for a room facing the pool and courtyard.
- Benjamin (10/5): If you can find me a better hotel with better staff, I will be amazed - I’ll be back for longer next time - Everything, right from start we were welcomed by Ba and treated so well. Our room was amazing - possibly the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Water when we needed it, just ask for refills. Helpful in getting tuc-tucs. We had 2 lunches by the pool, excellent snacks and drinks. Breki was also perfect for us. Plenty of choice. If I come back to Siem Reap, I’ll stay here. If u have a room facing the road, there will be some noise. We did not mind that and would not have changed that as our room was amazing.
- Jan (10/5): The staff, Bo especially, spa services , and facility are are top notch! - The property is beautiful and the staff, especially Bo, were amazing. We did not want to leave !! Great location! Great spa! Great food! Great staff!! There’s nothing to dislike!!
- Amanda (10/5): - Everything was exceptional! I would stay here again and again. Staff were super friendly and helpful and kind. Location was great, walking distance if you feel like a stroll or a few minute tuk tuk ride to Pub Street area. I’m so glad I had the opportunity to experience this hotel. Breakfast options amazing, the pool cleaner was out at the pool every morning without fail. Room service fantastic!

- Ketan (9/5): Hotel in a fantastic location with great staff - The staff were outstanding especially Bo who helped arrange tours, guides and taxi/ tuk tuks as well as advising on where to eat and things to do. The hotel was in a great location, the breakfast was excellent and the room was huge, I couldn’t ask for more.
- Stephen (8/5): Superior Staff - The staff were amazingly polite and helpful. Really lovely to be around. The breakfast really lets the place down. There are dishes available which you would only ever eat for dinner and no one touched them! No boiled eggs, brown bread, pork sausage or hash browns which was disappointing. I would skip breakfast there as there are great cafes within 100m.
- Ajit Bhalchandra (10/5): Excellent stay, great property and amazing staff. - The staff was very helpful and friendly. We couldnt get an early check-in but they arranged for us to take a shower and freshen up comfortably. The ambience of the property is wonderful. Very pleasant and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent too, simple but sumptous. Highly recommend this hotel. Location is fantastic. Liked everything.

- Susy (10/5): -
- Shyla (9/5): Would definitely stay there again ! - Very clean, walking distance to all things within the city, spa, gym. The breakfast was good, but it was the same every day. We stayed for 5 nights and would have preferred some variety.
- sailajay2025 (10/5): Amazing stay! - This hotel gave us a phenomenal stay. Everyone always went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and fun. We booked many tours through the hotel. Srelornh, Savoeut and another night time receptionist (I don’t know the name) were super helpful. Our driver Chann was beyond awesome. He picked us up from the airport and drove us to many site seeing places. He was great with the kids and had many great recommendations for things to do. The rooms were clean and spacious, the food and drinks were great but the highlight of our stay was definitely the people of the hotel.
