• Lolita Isidor (8/5): It was wonderful. - I liked the proximity of the hotel to the places I am supposed to go. It is so close to the train station and the availability of getting food (the afternoon market) is not a problem. There was nothing I didn't like during my stay. It is a guest house I could recommend to friends. It's not so expensive, just a reasonable price.

Nous étions dans une chambre qui donnait sur une rue très passante donc beaucoup de bruit de moteur. Le propriétaire nous avait averti qu'il y avait le marché le matin mais ne nous avait pas indiqué l'heure à laquelle les marchands s'installaient, 4h du matin pour le réveil ça fait un peu tôt. Nous ne nous sommes pas sentis à l'aise dans cet établissement,il y avait une atmosphère pesante comme si cet hôtel était habité par des entités. C'était super flippant.

• Chantal (6/5): 3 nights in an economy room in Pattalung - Location is good being near the train station and central but this area is also extremely noisy from motorbikes going up and down the road as the market is nearby. This is happening all day and night being woken up at 3am and unable to sleep thereafter even with ear plugs. The owners are actually a nice couple. according to the owner, "an economy room equates a noisy room . not a quiet room at the back." I said to the owner " it wasn't in the description on booking.com." I endured 2 sleepless nights. I complained nicely and the owner moved me to another room for my last night though he tried to get me to pay xtra 20 bahts for a quiet room I refused to pay on principle. I didn't know you had to pay xtra to have the privilege to sleep!! I have used economy rooms on many occasions and have never encountered this!! Money spent on maintenance wouldn't be a bad idea. Mosquito net with large holes and torn...neon lights ready to fall down...unstuck lino tiles etc... What a shame that I have to say all this
• Andrew (7/5): Clean but basic and dated hotel. Good value stay for a night or two for those on a tight budget. - My room, 208, was at the back of the hotel and fairly quiet. The room was good value for the price. One of the two staff members spoke a little English, and both were friendly. The hotel was very near the night market and a couple of bicycle shops (one of which fixed my bike) The furniture in the room, and the general decor of the hotel, is VERY dated.

• Craig (10/5): - As per my previous review, I like everything about this classic, olden-days hotel, including the lovely owners. And this time I got a room on the quiet side of the building, so my rating becomes a 10 this time! I love Phatthalung, and this place is "the icing on the cake".

If you are not familiar with this type of old style hotel you may be surprised..you can read other reviews to have an idea if it is for you..but however you will have a new experience . All good
• Detlev (6/5): 2 Nächte in einem günstigen Hotel - Nachdem der Papierkram an der Rezeption erledigt war bezog ich ein recht großes Zimmer im 4. Stock - mit dem Fahrstuhl erreichbar. Das Zimmer war groß und zweckmäßig ausgestattet. Fahrzeuge parken in einer rückwärtigen Halle, von der es direkten Zugang zur Rezeption gibt.
• Craig (9/5): - I have stayed here several times over the past 9 years. The hotel has a little old-world charm (I imagine it was a fairly impressive hotel in its prime...1960s?) my room was simple, clean and comfortable. The owners are kind and pleasant...Mr Suathit is a gentle man who can converse well in English and he is very helpful and informative. The location is great...a few minutes walk to the train station, morning market and night market, and; 15 minutes walk to the path that leads up to Khao Ok Thalu and Wang Sukkhatitham (Buddhist monastery), 2 of the region's great highlights. Rooms on the western side overlook a street that leads to the nearby market...it therefore gets quite noisy in the very early hours of the morning.

• Gregory (6/5): - I paid $6. You get what you pay for. I got a bed, a cold-water shower with towels, a toilet, and a fan (no airconditoning). I was traveling alone and that's what I wanted. The place is old and beat to death. Good location. The owner is an old unfriendly grumpy unsmiling guy - but I wasn't staying there to make friends. Noisy AF - and especially so early in the morning. Not much to do in the town - but OK to walk around for 1/2 day. I found a good dim sum place for breakfast. If you are looking for a cheap and convenient place (an nothing more) this place is fine.

If you don't like a cold shower and a firm bed this is not the place for you...but if you have stayed in budget hotels like this, you will know what to expect... It is a short walk from the station..and the night market that is Infront of the station. The people that run the hotel are a very nice couple. It was all fine..

• Alexandra (8/5): Very reasonable option - The location was brilliant - a 5 minute walk from the railway station and night market. Towels, soap and bottled water were provided. The room was old but was clean and everything worked; air-conditioning was great. The WIFI was consistent and strong (just had to check it was plugged in!). The couple who run the hotel were really welcoming and the Uncle spoke English so we were able to get information about songthaews to the bus station. The water in the shower was cold. There were no plug sockets near the bed. FOR INFO ONLY: The hotel is old and worn, but I found it to be clean so for the price was happy. The WIFI and electricity plug are in the hallway and turned off when quiet. We didn't have any issues with this and just switched them on/off depending on if we were in/out. We were shown where they were should we need to work them though.

• Chin (8/5): A quiet, bright and clean room. - The room is bright and clean. The ceiling fan is working well too. Top up with 40 THB for a quieter room. Nothing.

It is a budget hotel so you're not going to get a 5 star experience but the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was very clean. The manager was very friendly and extremely helpful. There is a lift. I will stay here again. Doors and walls were dirty.

• Starfinger (1/5): Consider paying more and staying somewhere else - Central location near the train station. Honestly the worst hotel experience I've ever had. Can not recommend anyone to stay here. If you do, make sure to take a room with aircon and glass windows. My room had only mosquito nets instead of windows, situated right next to a busy street. Couldn't sleep until 3 in the morning.

• Antonio (4/5): Disappointing - I stayed only three days in this hotel. The bed and bathroom were clean, but only where you can see. Above the mirror and to the side from the desk it was dirty. After the first night, there was some animal poo on the soap dish in the bathroom. It probably got in through the hole in the mosquito net of the bathroom window, I asked if it could be closed somehow but it was not done. I was on floor 6 and to see if the WiFi was active I had to check that the modem's power plug was plugged in. I understand that the hotel only has one star, but some basic things are missing here to welcome guests.
• Yves (10/5): Well located vintage hotel - This hotel is very vintage but it's clean and cheap and very well located close to the railway station and the main market
• Richard (4/5): I wouldnt return if the paid me 10x the asking price - I’d say cheap but no it was worth what they were asking no more. The Chinese owners were disrespectful and rude. They turned the WiFi off at night, I was working and had to continuously go down to ask them to put it back on. It was very dirty with cobwebs and dust. The towels were very old so when you were drying you had bits all over your body. There was only one plug socket in the room and that was at the opposite side from the bed. Nothing has been replaced in this hotel since it was built in the 70’s, furniture all frayed and falling apart. Limited toilet rolls even after I explained I had food poisoning. The said your problem!!

• Kees (4/5): If you do not want to spend much money in a run down hotel in the city centre. - Central located hotel much more positive things are difficult to find. The check in was a complete drama. The lady at the reception did not speak one word English, had no idea what Booking.com was and did not know I booked the most expensive room..So I spend one night in an incredible small room for 460 Bath....next day changed to a much larger room at the front but had to pay an extra 100 Bath. Run down hotel and if nothing happens then it will be defunct soon...Better of with any other hotel in town.

• Lewdb (7/5): Perfect Halloween Stay! - Cheap private room really close to train station. Warm water available. Ac was ok, but the unit is probably older than me. Didn't really cool room down much. Couldn't have fan on at night it was too noisy. The bats really are an issue here; can hear them most of the time apart from the dead of night when they're out. But interesting to have them fly past your head in the corridor. Also strong smell of rat poo some mornings by elevator. Could be cleaner, maybe throw away the empty air scent in the room. Strange how the blanket on the bed was more like a large towel, very rough. Pillows on bed are super hard, I think maybe meant to be memory foam but they're like a rock. Desk is poor; plastic flimsy chair and can't even fit legs under. Hope you don't plan on doing any writing here.

• Lil_k (9/5): Dated hotel but very clean and comfortable, and great value for money - A quirky old hotel, very dated but clean, and full of old furniture and memorabilia. You'll either love it or you'll hate it - we really enjoyed the experience. We couldn't get the internet to work, but discovered you need to plug in a cable in the hallway, which regularly gets unplugged again. The staff were really lovely, and were happy to fill up jugs of hot water for us so we could make morning coffee. It's right in the heart of the town, and just a couple of minutes' walk from the train station. Excellent value for money, if you're just looking for a clean and comfortable base for a night or two.
