Guest Reviews
- Sallis (8/5): Very good - Location was good. Property a bit run down. Staff helpful.
- Antoaneta (7/5): Good - Good location, nice staff. There wasn’t hot water. Quite expensive.
- Dan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patricia (3/5): Poor - the king size bed the lighting was horrible. No decent light in the bathroom or bedroom. expensive and not very functional. designed by a man who doesn’t need good light. the tub on the patio doesn’t work.
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Jacopo (1/5): Bad -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sophie (9/5): excellent location, sunny rooftop, could walk everywhere - excellent location!! sunny rooftop. lovely clean rooms nothing, it was brilliant
- Emma (10/5): - Wonderful location, quaint little back street and 10min walk from Castel Sant'Angelo and another 10min walk to St. Peter's Basilica.
Hotel staff were so helpful and accommodating, we are looking at going back to the same place :)
- Jacopo (1/5): Bad - so dirty
- Jacopo (1/5): Bad -
- Ronald (10/5): - Welcoming staff, an interesting decor, quiet area, convenient for Vatican, Pantheon/Navona areas, short walk to Piazza del Populo, Trevi, and the Forum/Colosseum. Plenty of restaurants and bars close by. No English channels on TV the only negative
- carlos (10/5): - Attentive staff
Easy check in and check out
- Jacopo (10/5): Exceptional - Marialaura is the best host
- Jens (10/5): Exceptional - Service minded and friendly staff. Great location.
- Nina (8/5): Very good -
- Ekaterina (10/5): Great place to enjoy private rooftop jacuzzi - Was nice to have a private terrace with jacuzzi. The room’s design is modern, there was a coffee machine in the room.
- Nicole (8/5): great but wifi didnt work - Room was very stylish and clean. The bed was comfortable. The staff were helpful with advice on the bus, airport transfers, etc. the rooftop bar was closed for winter during our stay but it was still nice to sit on the roof and relax.
however the wifi did not work in our room. We asked to change rooms but the receptionist said they are all the same and to use the wifi in the lobby or hallway because the walls are very thick. Besides the wifi, would recommend it.
- Joy (10/5): - This hotel is small but very nice. No amenities included , however the suite we stayed in had a vest and spacious balcony.
The room was modern and clean.
I would definitely recommend it!
- Xavier (8/5): Location - The location is perfect. Walking distance to the Vatican going north (about 1 mile) and to the Coliseum going south (about 2 miles but with a lot of places to see on the way). The hotel actually sits in a pedestrian zone so the cab may not be able to leave you at the door, but it isn't a long walk there. There are plenty of places to eat and really close to the Piazza Venetia with more places to eat - which is good since the hotel doesn't have a kitchen.
The room is small, the bathroom is smaller.
The A/C is good for 2 rooms, and sadly the control to our room was our neighbor's so you could be at their will.
Don't try playing around with the boxes on the wall to fix the A/C - this could mean turning off your water heater. The guy that held the front desk at night (and early in the morning when we were trying to take a shower to go on a tour) is not very friendly and won't really explain to you the reason why you may not have hot water.
Overall, you are paying for location. It is comfortable enough and very clean.
- LauraG. (4/5): - Loved the location. The staff was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we felt a bit duped by the photos online. The bar downstairs was just for show and is not a functioning bar at all. Nor was the bar on the roof. We were looking forward to soaking in the hot tub, but that was not functioning either. We could not get hot water in out shower, only luke warm, and the mattresses were very uncomfortable.
- claudia (10/5): - is located in a perfect place, I really love it, with a beautiful terrace, modern and confortable rooms, and really beautiful building
- Michael (10/5): - Great location, steps from the river, but yet on a quiet street so noise was not an issue. My wife and I had a wonderful time and would definitely come back to Relais Orso!
- Andres (10/5): Nice boutique hotel near piazza navona! - Rooms compact but they're new and very comfortable with high ceilings. Really enjoyed staying here, great value. Cool rooftop space too. Great location, nestled between liazza navona, the pantheon and the vatican
- Stephanie (10/5): Great Experience! - I had booked one room for 3 of us. When we arrived, we were given 2 neighboring rooms - we had the entire floor to ourselves. There was no extra charge. My teenage daughter was thrilled to have her own room! The bar on the roof top patio was closed, but were were able to relax and enjoy the view from there . Staff was freindly and went out of their way to acommodate us. The location was ideal. Quiet side street with great cafes in the immediate area. Walking distance to Trevi Fountain and shopping. Only issue was the we would have never found it on our own. Signs are lacking in Italy in general. The hotel was not obvious even when you are on the street. I would definitly stay here again.
- Mari (8/5): - Quaint little hotel that is centrally located close to tourist attractions.
- TG (10/5): - Excellent! everything, really very good place to stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): Terrific small hotel. - Wonderful location and the women at the desk were terrific. The elevator does not work on the third floor and steps up and down required if your room is there. I moved to a lower floor and everything was very good.
- Jin Kyung (10/5): Fantastic boutique hotel for stay in Rome - Extremely friendly and professional staff, clean facilities, & super convenient locations to major sights, shopping area, and great eateries around. Highly recommended!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location! Bathrooms are pretty small, but expected in Rome. For price, this hotel was awesome. Definitely a boutique hotel with a new rooftop bar. No restaurant, but many local restaurants near by. Staff spoke English and suggested some great recommendations. Vatican about a 10 minute walk.
- Linda (8/5): Roman Holliday - The location of this hotel was the best part of it. We walked to everywhere we wanted to see. The rooms were modernized even as the building itself was historic (as are most buildings in Rome). There was a nice rooftop terrace with tables and chairs that we brought our coffee to in the morning and our wine at night. The elevator was a bit funky and slow, (and broke down when we were there) and the hotel was not non-smoking, so the cigarette smell lingered especially in the elevator. There is a front desk, but there was never anyone at it when you entered or exited the building (they came when you rang the bell). The wi-fi was also very spotty, and dropped quite a bit. There was no food/breakfast service available, but there was a small coffee place down the street. There was a back stairway by our room, but no one gave us the code to come in that way (found out on the last night that we could have been using the stairs instead of the elevator).
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice small hotel close to historical center - Enjoyed my stay at this hotel . The staff very friendly, special thanks to Julia who helped me to reserve my train tickets to Venezia.
- Decorno (10/5): Stylish hotel, great location, terrific rooftop - I go to Rome twice a year and usually stay at DOM Hotel Roma which is amazing. This is a more budget friendly hotel with the same vibe. What you lose (vs DOM) is the chic bar/lounge. What you gain is an easy 7 min walk to JK Place Roma which is a phenomenal hotel with lounge, library, and restaurant. Relais 88 is a great place for a budget-minded design-lover, and you can pop over to JK Place to get that Champaign vibe on a bottled water budget.
- Maria (2/5): Terrible experience - First of all don't be deceived by the nice pictures or the info in the ‘hotel’ website as they claim to offer services that they no longer provide. This is not a hotel it's a guesthouse. No body greets you so you have to ring the bell or go one floor up to their office. Our room was very small with a bath/shower in the middle of it, no privacy. We asked for another room and we thought that was the end of it. Mistake. This other room although a bit bigger was not short of problems: safe deposit box didn't work, fridge didn't work, (the said they changed it but we had to go to the convenient store to get cold drinks), air conditioning didn't work (it was fixed but it broke the next day), no wardrobe just a bar with three coat hangers, Internet very weak, no pressure in the shower, and an intoxicating small of a floral fragrance flooded the room and the adjacent areas. Cleaning was just ok, lots of dust under the furniture, finger prints on the doors, bedding and towels are changed everyday, not very eco friendly really. If the lift is working the terrace offers a nice view, my husband wanted to use the toilet but the sliding door does not work. The receptionists tried their best to help or they just pretended, not sure which. It all looks very nice on the surface but nothing works. The location is ideal with main attractions within walking distance but there are plenty of other very good hotels cheaper and better than this one in the same area.
