- Rebecca (10/5): - Pool and location were amazing. Upstairs loft was lovely but it wouldn't be suitable for very young children.
- Peta (10/5): My husband, my grandson and I had such a lovely time at Mansfield. We would definitely recommend it -

- 431LindaB (10/5): "Mansfield on Manning: Excellent facilities - Mansfield on Manning offers a delightful experience for visitors seeking a serene retreat in a picturesque setting. Nestled along the tranquil banks of the Manning River, this charming destination provides captivating river views that set the perfect backdrop for relaxation.
The accommodations are meticulously furnished, with a cozy ambiance that makes guests feel at home. Adding to the comfort is the presence of a heated pool, ideal for leisurely afternoons spent soaking in the sun and scenery.
For those traveling with canine companions, it has a thoughtfully designed fenced dog yard, ensuring that pets can enjoy the open space safely and comfortably. This feature makes it a great choice for dog owners seeking a pet-friendly getaway.
Furthermore it has an upcoming addition of a tennis court, offering guests yet another avenue for recreation and enjoyment. The property's commitment to providing diverse amenities ensures that there is always a reason to return.
For dining and entertainment, the nearby Flow Bar stands out as a vibrant venue. With its live music and wood fired pizza or Coffee and Scones.
Old bar Beach has a great dog beach.
Mansfield on Manning combines comfortable accommodations, and thoughtful amenities in a way that promises a memorable stay. Whether for a peaceful retreat or an active visit with a beloved pet, it offers something for everyone.
- Rosalie (8/5): Great stay. Very close to Wingham for the Wingham Show. Excellent pool, much needed in the heat. - Loved the location by the river, the pool, the ambience. Owners lovely. Unable to use the top level due to ant infestation, had one adult sleeping on the lounge. Also stairs to upstairs level very unsafe for both adults and children.
- Lyn (9/5): Superb -
- angelagB9385MU (10/5): Our wonderful visit to the Mansfield On The Manning. - My family and I had a weekend away at the Mansfield for my grandson's birthday and hired 2 of the houses on the property. I would most definitely go back to this very beautiful, peaceful and serene place. One of the houses had incredible views over the property and a large, heated pool which we made use of every day. The other house had the biggest family deck. We shared great family lunches and dinners. It was bliss. My grandchildren loved all the wildlife and the huge chicken pen and didn't want to go home and our dogs found a new sense of freedom running as far and as fast as they wanted. The rooms were clean, beautiful bed linen and we had aircon, fresh chicken eggs and home-made cookies. I met Suzie on arrival who was very welcoming and easy to talk to. Her garden is any gardener's dream. Would highly recommend this place. Angela Glover

- carolynkO9204UE (10/5): Great for family get together. - What a beautiful spot on the Manning River. The three bedroom cottage was fabulous for a family get together. Huge deck for entertaining and fabulous grounds enjoyed by kids and dogs alike. Plenty for all three generations to enjoy. Highly recommend.
- Mcmullan (10/5): Exceptional - Everything N/a
- Grace (9/5): Superb - Stunning outlook over the Manning River
- Jamie (8/5): Lovely cabin away from it all but only 10mins to CBD - Space , privacy and away from urban hustle Unlucky with the weather at the time and quite wet under foot at no fault of our hosts
- Yury (10/5): Exceptional -
- Victoria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jillian (7/5): Great stay would recommend it as a family get away. - Location and pool were great. The cabin was clean and the staff friendly. A 4 slice toaster would be helpful and also the bedroom with bunks in it is very hot with 4 people at this time of the year.
- Mcgrath (10/5): 10 out of 10 - It was an excellent little cabin, we were so pleased with the accommodation.
The owner was very welcoming.
Would definitely go back
- jadefM6656MH (10/5): We will definitely be back! - Thankyou for such a peaceful, relaxing and beautiful stay on the manning. My family and I had such a great stay. My fur babies had so much room to run around.
We will definitely will be back. We felt so welcomed on arrival with a little basket of goodies.
- Carole (10/5): Exceptional -
- natashasK1923BO (10/5): Lovely place - Beautiful place to stay. So much to do on site & in a great location. Cabins are perfectly equipped with everything you need. Perfect venue for families for a quiet getaway.
Would highly recommend & stay again.
- linzin2023 (10/5): Fabulous place for a relaxing welcoming break! - Just spent 3 nights in cabin 2, with our 2 pooches.
Was just about perfect! Stunning views, well maintained property, comfortable, well kitted out cabin with lovely verandah.
Lots of thoughtful additions like a welcome hamper, lovely shower gels and toiletries, great wifi signal, lawn games and other games.
The pool is up at the main house but open 10am -5pm for guests and amazing views from in it! Great place to bob around and enjoy the stunning views across the river.
Yes it’s closed after 5pm but if I was the owner I would close it at 5pm for guests too. Who wouldn’t want to sit out on that deck in your own home in the evenings!
There are dog friendly beaches within 15-30 min drive at old bar and diamond beach which are also stunning.
Taree town centre only 10 mins away for your essentials. The dogs loved running around the bottom of the property and jumping in the dam!
Very welcoming hosts and wonderful property.
Thanks for having us x we will be back!
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional - So Friendly
Beautiful setting All good
- Sarah (9/5): Tranquil country farm cottage; perfect for family stays - Neil and Suzie were so friendly and hospitable from the moment we arrived. You could tell they took pride in providing a wonderful experience for us. Everything in the cottage, from the bedding to the soap, was of the best quality. There were endless things to explore and do on the property. Our children especially loved feeding the chickens. Thank you so much Suzie and Neil for an incredible stay. We look forward to coming back soon.
- barrywU3687VT (10/5): Loved this place, so good if you are a MTBer - I've never done a review before and I'm not much of a writer so just read what all the other 5 star reviews say. It is so relaxing here, we had 4 nights and were lucky to have the place to ourselves. 15 beautiful rolling acres right on the river. The reason we came here was so I could ride Kiwarrak Mountain Bike Park again. Its only a few minutes on the bike up a very quiet dirt road. If you are into MTB this is definitely the place to go. Thanks Neil we hope to come back again : )
- missdizzie (10/5): Perfect place to stay while visiting Manning family - This was our 2nd stay at Mansfield. Our previous stay was about 5 yrs ago when it was with the old owners (also named Neil). Returning now we enjoyed our stay just as much and spent both our Parents vouchers here. The property retains it’s quality & charm with a few extra enhancements since our last stay (the shared pool at the main house - which we didn’t use - but also the covered games area where we played ping pong - also venturing out for croquet on the lawn) - I think we were all surprised how much we enjoyed the non-screen time playing together as a family. It really is a beautiful spot in the Manning - probably one of the best given it’s close proximity to service towns & natural attractions. It’s ideally located between Wingham (which has 2 great cafe for weekend breakfasts, a couple of antique shops and Coles and museum & stopover to Ellenborough Falls or Wingham Brush) and the beachside town of Old Bar (head here for dinner at Flow Bar, or takeaway) or go into Club Taree for a meal.
The new owners Suzie & Neil are just as friendly and helpful as the last owners. We arrived a little later than planned on a cold night & Suzie was great. I’m originally from the area so I know what & what not to expect in terms of tourism & services & food so planned ahead as I didn’t feel like driving into town for dinner options which can sometimes be limited & so brought some basics to make toasted sandwiches (on fry pan) which is really all I feel like doing when I’ve driven / trying to relax. Sour dough bread, cookies & milk were provided. It would have been good to have some butter (for the bread) & a little more generous serving of milk for the morning - I’m sure they would have happily provided it if we’d asked -Suzie said to ask for anything we need when we arrived - but I’m not a morning person nor pushy so I’m not about to go clomping around requesting things at sunrise. Chooks weren’t laying on our visit so if eggs are important maybe call ahead or pick some up on your way.
The property is in excellent condition but going forward it’s going to require increased vigilance for garden maintenance & deep cleaning over the next few years as the property continues to accommodate us all regularly - we all add to the load - Verandah tables & bbq could do with more thorough clean for accommodation price range. Admittedly we were there after COVID & months of rain which can slow everything down.
Our winter stay was grand. We built a lovely fire in the fire pit & toasted marshmallows we brought with us - but you will need to gather your own kindling & firewood from the property & that might not always be dry. Dry firewood might be available upon request - not sure.
Note the loft ladder is VERY steep & while kids LOVE the loft it does add anxiety to family stay. Last time we stayed my daughter was 5 & I had to watch her a lot. This time she’s 9 and safety conscious but it is something to consider. Also take care on the concrete river access ramp it is very slippery after rain & maybe Suzie & Neil might add a sign for idiots like us who slipped over hahah
All up though I have no hesitation in recommending the place as a lovely stopover or weekender. Perfect place for slow morning weekend & reading & wandering around in nature with little effort.
- Louweezyjane (10/5): Perfect!!!! - Amazing property, location and owners!
Our 4th stay at MOM. This time we brought our friends and their children and they loved it too. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners and they make your stay feel so special with all the amazing little touches, like homemade cookies and fresh bread and eggs. The cabins and cottage are very cosy and luxurious and the beds are really comfy!
- footloose415 (6/5): Peaceful Retreat - It was very easy, booking with Suzie. Unfortunately could not meet her as she was away, caring for a sick family member.
Neil met us upon arrival. He was very friendly & gave us a rundown of the area & everything else. Then gave us a basket of some milk, bread & eggs, then walked us to the Cabin thru the herb garden, while telling us, there may be snakes in there. Eeeekkkk!
He told us to help ourselves to anything we could forage around the property & gave us fresh farm eggs from the chook pen, again for the next two days. Thank you Neil, appreciate it.
He also accepted the NSW $50 stay vouchers, when we asked, which was great.
The Banksia Cabin1 is cute, facing glimpses of water. Big enough for us (2 + little fluffy). We did not use the loft – a little too steep to climb. Kitchen’s a little small. My toe kicked into the dustbin, I bounced off the sink & bumped into the oven. Also not much counter space. I’m sure we could do without a coffee machine on holiday? No?
Oh, that beautiful tree, above the boardwalk to the Cabin also could do with a little hair cut – it kept licking our faces with wet kisses, every time we walked to & from the car.
Bedroom’s a decent size. Bed’s very comfy. Has a short-tallboy with shallow drawers (probably designed by someone who only wears smallish underwear?) – oh, you’ll find a hair dryer with a jet engine, in the drawer & a beautiful wooden clothes hanger/rack with a base. No cupboard so don’t pack your entire wardrobe. Btw, the long mirror’s hiding behind the door.
Don't freak out if you're visited by some friendly little insects who live there too.
Nice, modern ensuite but the glass shelf of the cute, tiny little hobbit-cabinet, over the bathroom sink was dirty which I had to clean myself, to place my tiny stuff. There’s also the cutest toilet roll holder in the bathroom. Quality towels/body wash/shampoo/conditioner provided. The hot-towel-rail helped as it was raining so much.
There's a very nice pool at the main house but we did not use it due to rain. Also, it would feel like swimming in someone else's pool, although Neil said they are fine with it.
The property’s great to walk around, when not raining. Lots of fruit trees (our bad luck, none were ripe yet) but we did use the lemons & a herb garden (great for my cooking).
It rained most days over the week we were there so found in between rain & sun to walk around the property. Neil lent us some gum boots as it was really squishy & muddy. I went sticky beak-ing to check out the nice big cottage on the other side & came back with a rusty nail scratch on my right leg, above my gum boot.
The lagoon, over from the Grevillea Cabin was covered with some sort of growth so could not see any water. Probably from the flood earlier, so don’t go walking `on’ it!
Humidity being high, the property was hot upon arrival, the fan was not turned on as I had requested when booking. The ACs did not work which Neil, at first, insisted, that’s the best he could do! I almost got sick, sitting under the 1 fan in the lounge. Hours later, after my husband checked the ACs himself, both him & Neil managed to get them working. Thank God. Apparently, the previous renters had messed up the remotes.
The deck looked like it hadn’t been swept for a while & the two chairs outside & their cushions were dirty & mouldy. Seemed like the caretaker & the cleaner had both gone missing?!? I had to sweep the deck & clean the chairs & cushions myself.
The fridge was dirty & smelt like a possum had died in it, which I had to clean up myself & the tiny freezer, clogged up with so much ice, it looked like the Himalayas. Had to break up some, to put in my 2 very flat containers
Would be nice, to have a proper fridge with a bigger freezer, seeing there aren’t many places to eat around the area. You’ll have to drive out to Taree. Wingham or Old Bar, all of which were disappointingly dreary & lifeless (respectfully). Sadly could not find any local produce either, which I usually look forward to, on these trips.
So, If you are planning to stay, you may want to bring along your own containers to store anything in the fridge, some kitchen paper towels, pair of gloves, a scissors, a few more teaspoons?, a large eskey/freezer (better with a plug). It is shameful that we had to sacrifice ice-cream on holiday as it wouldn’t have fitted in the mini, flat freezer.
We also had to drive out daily, to get fresh fish/meat to cook, which was quite tedious! I know, Neil said he had a big freezer but we did not feel comfortable disturbing him for all that plus we want to be free to access our stuff anytime.
While the Cabin looks nice, I think, the designer, unfortunately did not think it thru or may have had one too many the night before when building the roof on the deck. Either the sun glares right thru the front glass door or when it rains, the entire deck (front & side) is soaked, so we couldn’t even sit outside with a cuppa. Neither could we use the BBQ as the deck was constantly wet or the BBQ rained on.
The front glass door is perfect to soak in the lovely view but only if it would close without me losing an arm, afterwards, from having to force it. It could also, really do with a mozzie screen door.
Same with the beautiful, big, side door in the bedroom. No mozzie net door so can’t be opened at all, deprived of the beautiful view. I believe the missing caretaker’s also glued it together. I couldn’t even move it!
I’m sure you’ll appreciate that, while I can understand it’s a farm property, a little cleaning, attention & consideration, could make the stay so much more comfortable, enjoyable & memorable.
Unfortunately, it felt like I never left home as I was cleaning, driving out doing groceries, washing, even handwashing our clothes (the commercial washer & drier are at the main house & we did not feel comfortable disturbing Neil nor walking all the way there with a bucket of laundry).
So much for having a well deserved holiday after years & it was my 60th BD.
I can’t tell you what to do but this won’t be my 1st choice `holiday’ destination next time. Sadly, the council/s nor the residents seem to be very enthusiastic about attracting tourists. The few surrounding suburbs/shopping villages/restaurants are all, very basic-orientated.
I couldn’t even squeeze in a massage, in a week of being there. They were either not there or did not return my calls.
So much for trying to support the regional towns.
Having said that, the property is very nice for a farm stay, if that’s what you’re after.
- gioiad681 (10/5): Unwind and relax at this hidden gem - Fantastic. Peaceful. A wonderful escape. Highly recommended. You won't regret it. A place to unwind, relax and simply enjoy the surrounds. The villa had views of the Manning River, rolling green hills, wildlife abounds. The infinity pool was outstanding. The hosts extremely hospitable and welcoming. Just fantastic. 10/10
- Kelly (10/5): Great family place - Great place-friendly people, lots to do, would go again
- kerrym645 (10/5): Amazing Family Friendly Break - We just spent the most amazing 3 nights at Mansfield on the Manning. We were supposed to have rain the whole time, but instead had the most stunning sunshine. We spent the weekend kayaking with the kids (i might have tipped them into the Manning...woops), making smores on the fire pit and fishing in the lagoon. It is beautifully looked after, super clean and has all the little touches that make it luxury.
Thank you to Suzie & Neil for being absolutely wonderful and helpful hosts.
We will definitely be back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What a wonderful place to stay! The cottage was comfortable and well appointed; great and friendly service; the hamper we found in the cottage on arrival was a nice touch, including the best eggs I have ever tasted in my life! Our dog could roam around freely; lot's of space and great views! We will be back for sure.
- KataMay2014 (10/5): Amazing place - We stayed very last min from Friday to Sunday. This would have to be our favourite little spot we have found to date. We could have our dogs and they loved the openness! The cabins are great have been finished with top end bathroom products and the little welcome pack with homemade bread and all the little
- Danielle (10/5): Great family stay - Wonderful! Great cabins with well equipped kitchen, lovely toiletries, added bonus of kayaks, mountain bikes and skittles to play on the expansive lawns, complete with fire pit. Would definitely recommend.
- Danielle_Somers (10/5): Fantastic - we will be back! - This place a definite thumbs up from our family! Beautiful grounds with chickens, herbs, fruit and nut trees, huge grassy areas and a lovely cabin with everything you need and more! Perfect family stay and you can even bring your dog. We had access to kayaks, mountain bikes, wooden skittles, pool, etc. Grown Alchemy toiletries, chef’s kitchen with everything you need (great quality), Sheridan towels, art in the cabin, local guide to restaurants and cafes and passionfruit butter to die for! Fire pit out the front with logs and a river and lake to explore - kangaroos visit in the morning.
- WI222 (8/5): A lovely few days at Mansfield on the Manning. - We found the River Cabin very comfortable and there was plenty of space for our needs. We enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the boats on the river and just listening to the birds.
It was hot but with the ceiling fan and the air conditioning it was quite comfortable. It was lovely to find passionfruit butter, delicious bread and milk in our cabin.
My only suggestion would be that you provide toilet cleaner, particularly if guests are staying for several days.
- tabzism (10/5): With fields of green of lovely surroundings.. - We just checked out from a 2 night stay at their lagoon cabin and we wish we could stay longer. It was the best holiday we've taken this year and so glad we discovered this beautiful place, just 10 min drive from Taree. The cabin which looks rustic from the outside offers modern and very adequate facilities inside. The views from inside and outside of the cabin are simply magnificent . Nature is all around you and can't get enough of it. Neil is so nice and accomodating. He welcomed us with bonus provisions of fresh milk, cage free eggs, passionfruit butter, sour dough loaf and pavlova which he made himself and are all so yummy. This oasis is highly recommended to anyone who is after a romantic, relaxing getaway.
- Georgina (10/5): Loved it! - We had a great stay. The property is beautiful and the cabin cute. The kids enjoyed the loft area. We loved lighting the outdoor fire pit each night. Great area to explore and lots to do in the surrounding area.
- Louweezyjane (10/5): Perfect! - Our forth stay at MOTM! Have always stayed in the airstream, but now as a family of four we had to book a cabin. It did not disappoint! Very comfy, clean and cosy with beautiful additions such as luxury towels and bedding and modern tasteful decor. We love this place so much and stay here every time we return from visiting in-laws in Port Macquarie. This time we stayed 3 nights but wish it had been longer. From toasting marshmallows over the fire pit at night, picnicking each day by the lake, and enjoying the best lamb we’ve ever tasted, cooked and delivered by the owner Neil...if you are looking for a unique and luxurious stay in the country, this is the place!
- michael_arthur_kelly (10/5): Sublime few days at Mansfield on the Manning - We have just returned from 3 nights in the Airstream van and we want to go back soon! Neil and Jane make you feel so relaxed and welcome, the space and vibe is so refreshing, the gourmet food out of this world and location, what can I say...a lovely view of the river, mountain biking up the road, beaches not far away..I could go on! Thank you Jane and Neil for sharing your lovely and inspiring property with us. warmly, the Eleebana crew
- harksta (10/5): Loved we could share this magical rural retreat with our dogs - Thank you so much Neil and Jane for two magical days. It was so wonderful to be immersed in nature with panoramic vistas and the stylish fit out with gourmet touches. Best of all was experiencing all of this with the entire family - including our two beloved dogs. A walk by the river, a great meal and drinks and a crackling fire at sunset sitting around our own fire pit...heaven!!
- 755michellea (10/5): Surprise 50th Getaway - 4 longtime friends from the Hunter Valley arrived for a 2 night stay, which was a belated 50th birthday surprise due to Covid. There is not one thing we can fault. We had the most amazing stay and cannot wait to get back. From the minute you drive in the beautiful driveway, you instantly know this is going to be great. We stayed in the Cottage and from the moment we pushed open that gorgeous big wooden door we felt at home, it was so inviting. All the pictures you see on the website is exactly how it is. Beautifully decorated and so many thoughtful things already in there from excellent linen and toiletries supplied to the most beautiful home baked bread, passionfruit butter, fresh eggs and home baked biscuits on your arrival. The kitchen is wonderful with everything you need and more. The fire is amazing, also the firepit out the back which is protected by a retaining wall, a huge verandah which we spent a lot of time on, has a great Weber BBQ which we cooked breakfast on both mornings. Beds are so comfy, we all admitted we had the best sleeps. Dam just below us and a beautiful walk to the river, we had brought with us some crab pots, dropped them in, but no luck unfortunately. Even had wellington boots for the girls to borrow to collect the crab pots in the kayaks. The most amazing trees and gardens all around us, the property is impeccably maintained. Jane and Neil should be so proud of what they have achieved here, cannot recommend it enough. We chose to have a meal cooked for us on the second night by Neil, nothing short of superb. We had slow cooked lamb shoulder with baked potatoes and pumpkin and fresh beans, not a thing left. The birthday girl was not a lamb eater, so she received a beautiful moist marinated chicken breast wrapped in prosciutto, also amazing. We fed the chooks all of our food scraps which they loved, you can pick herbs from the gardens for your scrambled eggs or mint for your G&T's. Wonderful hosts, even purchased some home made mint jelly and cumquat marmalade on departure. Huge thank you to Neil and Jane, our stay was amazing and we cannot stop talking about it and telling anyone that will listen. So reasonably priced for the value and location. You will definately see us again next Winter.
- 36karinaj (2/5): Valentine's Weekend Getaway = Dog Bite - Spent a beautiful Valentine's Day last nigh at Mansfield on The Manning. Greeted by Neil who is very accommodating and told us the pool is opened between 10am and 5pm. Today we decided to enjoy a swim and entered the guest pool area at 1.30pm. There was a sign on the front of the gate saying ‘pool opening hours 10-5 - please be careful when entering Doug & Frank live here’.
There is Not any danger or warning signs about the fact you are unknowingly entering at your own risk and are in fact at risk.
We walked through the gate, the two dogs ran straight around the corner and immediately came at my husband and bit him on both legs.
Being due for our next child he is grateful I didn't enter first. I was horrified to see my husband being attacked and injured.
Upon returning to our cabin we treated the wounds and put an entry into the guest book in the hopes of forwarning future guests, imagine if a child entered ahead of their parents in the allocated hours. 100% unacceptable.
Unbelievably, there is a previous entry in the guest book documenting the same event occurring last year! In the reply online to the guests review, you can clearly see the owner has stated that 'Doug and Frank will continue to be locked in our house from 10am to 5pm each day'. We entered the pool area today at 1.30pm. Well within the hours requested by the owners. In addressing the previous complaint the owner said 'we hope they will be respectful of our property and heed our requests and advice.'.
We definitely were. We read the guest information, adhered to the property owners requests and advice.
Yet these dogs were Not secured as stated. And we were attacked.
We feel empathy for the previous victim of the dog attack however we did enter at the allocated time. Now we cannot enjoy the rest of our stay, enjoy the pool facilities. As the photos show.... the dogs are supposed to secured in these hours.
I write this in the hope of future guests being aware of the dangers and not getting injured.
It is the duty of care as a business to ensure the safety of their guests and the fact this risk has been highlighted before and yet today's attack happened, due to the dogs not being secured, is quite hard to believe.
- Cheryl (10/5): Wonderful - Absolutely fabulous, everything you need is in the cabin.
Very private, beautifully decorated, peaceful, views and best of all you can take your dog....I would thoroughly recommend Mansfield on the Manning.
