DAVID (9/5): - Location was perfect - close to downtown but not right in the middle where it would be too busy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was 30th anniversary for my wife and I. Staff made a point of congratulating us and we were given some yummy chocolates and a nice hand signed card. Room as spacious and very clean and comfortable. Given a partial view of the water as promised. Only negative was that one of the two elevators was not working so it could get a little busy with just one working elevator
Ted (5/5): Would not recommend this hotel due to the parking. - The parking garage is a nightmare! It was dark outside and we had great difficulty accessing the entrance then getting back to the hotel because we were unfamiliar with the area.The fact that we had to pay for it on top of our nightly rate was an insult. Other comparable quality hotels in the same location have free parking.
564jeanninel (10/5): Gabe the GOAT - The hotel was clean, comfortable, and beautiful, but the real standout was Gabe, the shuttle driver. First of all, “shuttle” is a strong word because he picks you up in a comfortable black SUV, but Gabe is just great - he grabbed us from the airport after we landed and immediately we got to talking about our plans in Portland and he shared some great recommendations to fill out our list. Every spot we checked out on his recommendation was wonderful, and we had a great conversation filling him in on our weekend when he took us back to the airport. We just really appreciated his kindness and care - it set the tone for a perfect weekend. Thanks, Gabe!

Any of the staff i talked to v was very hospitable . one of the bell hop kids was not helpful .. i dropped my water bottle out side which leaked everywhere and was struggling with my bag .. when i got in the building he was standing there smirking looking at his phone so that i knew he had seen me struggling. i then watched him with another women.. he stood there playing with putting her jacket on a hook so that she put her bags on the wagon thing ?

Check in staff were very friendly and helpful. Offered to extend our free parking time, which was wonderful. Room was nice, very indicative of large hotel chain.

Travel45902285468 (10/5): ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/4 Stars – Wonderful stay made unforgettable by exceptional service - We had a wonderful experience at the AC Hotel Downtown. The room was beautiful, modern, and comfortable, and the view was absolutely fantastic—exactly what we were hoping for during our stay in Portland, Maine. What truly made this trip special, though, was Gabe our shuttle bus driver. He went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. He gave us incredible restaurant recommendations, knew all the ins and outs of Portland like a true local, and was genuinely friendly and welcoming every time we interacted with him. His enthusiasm and knowledge made exploring the city so much fun and effortless. The hotel itself was great, but Gabe is what elevated the entire experience from a nice stay to a truly fantastic trip. We would absolutely stay here again—and hope to see Gabe when we do!

Carol (8/5): Not as nice as the AC Marriott we came from in Portsmouth NH. There was a disconnect between the fro - Modern well decorated hotel. Great location for the Old Port attractions. Didn’t like the charge for parking and tipping valets. Had to phone the front desk twice to get refrigerator fixed. Didn’t include complimentary lotion as I fly with carryon only. Didn’t like housekeeping every other day. Had to call to have my trash and recycling bins emptied twice before staff arrived. I want to conserve energy and reuse my towels but the cool bathroom design was not functional. There was one hook for 1 wet bath towel and shower door rod was too small to hang the wet bath mat for it to dry. There was no ventilation fan in the bathroom and the towel bar for hand towels was also too small to hang wet towels. There was no backup tissue and only one bar of soap for two adults for 2 full days. The decor is cool but not functional for a bathroom.

outoftownvisitor_11 (10/5): AC Portland Waterfront - I love this property. AC is my go to spot to crash every time I'm in Portland. The rooms are always clean and are very spacious. The hotel is within walking distance to all kinds of bars and restaurants and they have a complimentary shuttle yhat will take you to and from spots within a certain radius of the hotel and that is definitely what makes this my favorite hotel in town. When I arrived in town, I called the hotel to arrange transportation from the airport. They told me the shuttle would arrive momentarily and, just like they said, it did. To my surprise, Gabe was the driver and he remembered me from all of my previous visits to the hotel. Gabe told me about of of the new restaurants in town and gave me a list of places to try. Luckily, he was driving the shuttle again when I started looking for food so he made sure I got where I wanted to go and back to the hotel each and every time. If you ever need a shuttle ride, id recommend requesting Gabe by name when you schedule your reservation. I think the people, in particularly Gabe, are what make me continue to choose this hotel when im in town.

We were also charged for breakfast despite it being included in our reservation. I contacted the hotel for both these issues and they quickly corrected the mistake by making price adjustments, which I greatly appreciated. Great customer service and I would definitely stay again!

This time they told us no more valet parking. I won’t be coming back, it’s way too inconvenient. I know this sounds childish but it was not easy to park in the garage. And the convenience before of having your car brought to you during Maine in the winter was great. There are plenty of other hotels nearby that offer this convenience and are just as nice. I come to Portland multiple times a year and am disappointed that the hotel chose to save a few dollars at the expense of customer satisfaction. When I asked why they got rid of the valet parking I was told that the front desk was told it was because of customers that didn’t have want it. I highly doubt this and think it is a poor excuse that management came up with. Plus on the website it still says valet parking. I truly hope management changes their decision or comes up with a better reason of why they got rid of this necessary service.
