Guest Reviews
- Michael (10/5): - Very good service
- Richard (6/5): - Lovely place, excellent location, very clean room and en-suite. Petrol station shop next door, nearest shops 15 minute drive away. No food in the evening which was very disappointing and breakfast started at 8 so missed that too as I started work at 7:30!
- Daniel (10/5): - A nice easy stay. The owner was very friendly and easy to deal with. Would stay again.
- TIMOTHY (10/5): Peaceful and perfect place - Perfect stay in a stunning location. Heather and Dave were perfect hosts. Accommodation spotless and spacious with great views. Parking was easy and the little shop was well stocked. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Would highly recommend and a return for us is definitely on the cards. Thanks😃
- Suzanne (10/5): - Great breakfast, warm, welcoming hosts, nice choice of beers and ciders, lovely garden.
Would stay here again.
- rachel (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay at The Trout Cafe. Our room was really clean and comfortable, there was an electric fan which was appreciated as it was very warm weather. The shower was easy to use and very good. There were biscuits with the tea and coffee which was nice.
We had breakfast and the food was very good and included in the price of the room.
The hosts could not have been friendlier and gave us some great advice and local knowledge on places to visit. We would absolutely stay again on our next visit to Wales.
- LEE (10/5): - Stayed for 4 nights whilst working in Wales. Accommodation was very clean and the hosts Dave and Heather were great. Breakfast in the mornings was superb. Would absolutely stay again if working in the area
- Kevin (10/5): - Absolutely outstanding food, easy parking, fantastic staff, will definitely visit again and highly recommend to stay or eat.
- Dorothy (10/5): - Easy check in. Nice on arrival to be able to have a meal in there resturant, before being shown to our room.
Room was bright and clean. Room 4 was facing the main road but with window shut no traffic sound so had a good nights sleep. Would stay here again if in this area.

Breakfast was included and nothing was too much trouble if you wanted to swap from the menu. We have stayed here before and nothing has changed. The owners and staff could not do enough for us. Highly recommend. Hope to return soon .

- Alan (10/5): RM Stoppover - Super friendly and nice place to stay with good food and good beer in a good location.
- Chris (6/5): - In ascending order of preference:
1. The large room was ok but furnished in a very basic way. Bed was ok. Distinct shortage of power sockets was annoying (only one at the other end of the room from the bed!)
2. The cooked breakfast was good
3. The manager was great: very friendly and welcoming
- Cally (10/5): - Our host, Dave, was a very congenial host. He made sure we were comfortable at all times.
The meals, both breakfast and dinner, were freshly cooked, plentiful and delicious.
- Carolyn (10/5): - A comfortable stay with amazing hosts. Their hospitality was exceptional. The homemade food was irresistable.
- Michael (8/5): Great food - bed needs sorting out! - Warm friendly greeting on arrival. We were shown to our room which was very clean and tidy.
The Inn is located in a quite location with little traffic noise.
Our evening meal was excellent.
Breakfast was very enjoyable.
We would definitely revisit for the food!
Our only gripes were that our room was located on the first floor over the bar toilets (nothing can be done about that). More concerning was that our bed mattress was very uncomfortable. (ok on the window side but hard and lumpy on the other)
- Jayne (10/5): - Felt really at home everyone so friendly and helpfull
- John (10/5): - Dave the Landord top man !!! will definitely be staying there again .
- Huw (10/5): A warm, homely welcome - If you're looking for a convenient place to stay with a warm welcome where you're made to feel at home, then look no further. The food is excellent, with a hearty breakfast to set you up for the day, and a delicious evening meal (including Trout :) ) to welcome you back after your day out. The staff are most kind, with nothing too much trouble for them. Well worth a visit if you're exploring Powys / Bannau Brycheiniog

Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and was delicious. We also had an evening meal which we thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you Dave for very pleasant weekend stay.
- Bonnie (10/5): - Absolutely top class fabulous service wonderful staff made us more than welcome food was delightful
- l (8/5): Puppy pick up - Dave the proprieter made us very welcome and a table had been reserved for us in the restaurant. Food served for both dinner and breakfast was delicious - piping hot and good quality with large portions. The room was clean and spacious with tea plus biscuits and a hairdryer provided and a generous sized shower room. Petrol station and small shop next door. Although we were the only guests, it was a little bit noisy as our room was directly above the darts board with a match going on downstairs.
- Eddie (10/5): Visit to see friends - I would strongly recommend the Trout as we received a very friendly welcome, an exceptional evening meal, a lovely cosy clean room and bed. Followed by a very good breakfast.
- Nicola (8/5): Welsh visit - Very friendly, nice people. EXcellent trout for supper and HUGE breakfast as requested. Food generally very well cooked and tasty.. Too many doors to open and shut ! !
Not luxury but more than adequate and most enjoyable stay.
- nigel (10/5): - Freindly super grub
- Charles Nolan (10/5): - Friendly host good home cooked food would recommend a visit to anyone .
- Harvey (10/5): Trout Inn Review - Good honest, clean accommodation, a no frills stay with a good atmosphere. Dave, owner, was very helpful. Well trained, polite staff. Petrol station and small shop next door. Being next to the road, there is some traffic noise. Beer garden at the front.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Super friendly and helpful staff. Decent sized room and bathroom. Restaurant is closed on Mondays.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hospitality, good food and well presented and secure bedroom.
Nothing much on the 'negative' side. Externally a coat of paint would not go amiss on some of the fences.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - 3 of us stayed for 1 night on a motorbike trip, Dave the owner is great, very helpful, gave us a scenic diversion for the following day.
Great food, good beer, nice clean room, breakfast included, what more could you ask for, will definitely be staying again. A
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The rooms were spacious light and airy ,wonderful comfy bed. large bathroom with a superb shower. The rooms ware spotless .The meals were very reasonably priced as were the drinks. We had the whole trout Yum Yum Yum. Perfectly cooked and presented. The whole meal I felt was cooked by someone who takes a pride in their work. Breakfast was a real Welsh breakfast. Again cooked and presented beautifully. I had real porridge . I would deffinatly recommend.THE TROUT INN Thanks for making us so welcome.
- R (6/5): - Room and sevice fine. However dinner not so good. Wife had Scampi which was fine , I had Beaulah pie which was fine but vegetables had a very strange taste, the worst veg. I have ever had, left 90% of them. Breakfast was fine and very enjoyable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean and comfortable, the Trout Inn is conveniently situated next to the associated village store and petrol station. Very good facilites, hospitable host and excellent breakfast. Would definitely recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - friendly , relaxed , convenient for us , excellent food
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Dave was a lovely host and Heather’s food was excellent.
- graham (10/5): I would Recommend this pub/ b&b - Fantastic food, great room, very helpful and friendly owners and staff, good location and easy to find.
- Bob (10/5): Rally time again! - As a regular for plenty of years, we arrive at 18-00 ish Friday or sometimes Saturday. Book in, adjourn to the bar / restaurant and have some refreshment after a long steady drive. Usually dine early having made sure at booking time that a table for a meal will be available. Good selection of refreshments, superb menu, reasonable car park and very nice spacious rooms It is some time since we had a sit down breakfast as we depart before the sparrows have cleared their throats, but a nice 'pack up' is available. Very friendly hotel, well located and will return on a regular basis, sometimes 5 or 6 times per year.
- Gordon (10/5): Everything in One place - Great place to stay, Dave is great host nothing was too much trouble for him, even pushing the boat out for my daughter at meal times. The pub has everything you could want, great freshly cooked food and a large selection of drinks. The rooms are quiet and cosy without feeling small it was so quiet i slept like a log which is rare
- peter (10/5): Catch the Trout. - End of September 2018.Had a very nice stay at the Trout.Dave is a great host and mad me feel very welcome.Had a great time talking to the locals in the bar area,Food in the restaurant is first class and reasonably priced.Very clean room.I would stay again if I was ever in the area.
