Check-in is strictly from 15:00 to 19:00. The Hideaway At Windermere requests that all guests provide an expected arrival time at the time of booking.
Arrivals after 19:00 will be treated as a no-show and will be charged in full, as per cancelation policy.
Please note that The Hideaway has a strict nonsmoking policy. Guests will be asked to vacate the room immediately if evidence of smoking is found, and a minimum charge of GBP 200.00 will be applied to the credit/debit card used to make the reservation, to cover all additional cleaning and dry cleaning costs.
Bookings for 3 rooms or more cannot be accepted.
Please note, there is no elevator at the property, and as a result it may not be suitable for guests with reduced mobility.Please inform of your expected arrival time in advance. Check in excellent, shown to our room & instructions given from breakfast, coming back into the hotel late at night & about local bars, restaurants around Windermere & how to catch the bus down into Bowness. The house has a lot of character. We went originally for the double but weāre upgraded to the king. The room was well appointed. Spiral staircase down to the bathroom. Big bath and walk in shower. - Timmins young (10/5): Would 100% stay again!! - The staff there is amazing. The rooms felt very homely, and the bath was a perfect addition. The breakfast was fabulous. And the complimentary homemade cake was such a cool bonus (great snack on a hike). No complaints from me or my partner.

Very attentive, truly delicious cook to order breakfast which was decadent, great linenās, daily maid service, tea/coffee in the room, powerful shower, inviting sitting room, very clean, quiet neighborhood, and a complimentary slice of homemade cake each eveningā¦YES, cake! The value of the property, the modern and comfy room, plus a full breakfast is a steal! You can walk to town and the bus stop in 10 minutes.

- C579XIkimt (10/5): A little gem - What a lovely little gem! We booked this B&B 48 hours before arriving as we just needed to get away. We didnāt realise a storm was on the way ā¦ what should have taken 2 1/2 hours, took us just under 5!!! We kept Lisa and Richard informed of our (very) late arrival due to the horrific storm Amy we were travelling in via WhatsApp as the reception isnāt manned from 5pm. Upon arrival there was plenty of parking and we were met by Richard and a lovely slice of Victoria sponge š Room was very clean, as was the rest of the property, and very comfy, with plenty of complimentary teas, coffee and hot chocolate. We took a short walk (despite the storm) into the town and had the best pizza in the Italian restaurant. A blustery walk back (which was great when the wind was behind us!) and had one of the best nights sleep Iāve had in ages! Saturday morning breakfast was amazing, food cooked to order, plenty of it, piping hot and the service was first class. Off out for the day with a complimentary slice of lemon drizzle cake, a full tummy and completely stress free. Overall the best last minute getaway weāve had in ages and will definitely be going back š

- Lou (10/5): - We stayed at The Hideaway for 3 nights in August. Unfortunately the weather was very changeable so we couldnāt enjoy the outside surroundings very much as took advantage of the dry parts to explore. The room was quite small but still ok for us. The breakfast options are wonderful! Nothing was ever too much trouble if you wanted to exchange certain breakfast items and we were honestly so full we didnāt eat until the evenings. Everyone was very friendly and having a piece of cake every day was a lovely little treat. It was a nice walk into Windermere and also Bowness-On-Windermere if you can. The hop on/off bus can be caught at the station if you want to travel around which we did. The Lake District is just beautiful and we very much enjoyed our visit. The only thing we would say is that maybe the communal area could be a little brighter, with maybe less furniture to make it a more pleasant place to relax.

- robv140 (10/5): Superb location that is quiet and convenient with incredible food - Great location - easy downhill 6-minute walk from train station. Tucked away in very quiet and beautiful area and only a brief walk to Windermere or to the bus to easily get to any place in the Lake District. The food is fabulous and plentiful, the rooms are as described in the website pictures. The staff very helpful. Everything was above expectations.
- Brenden (10/5): A hidden gem. - Room was a decent size, quiet, and the bed was super comfortable. Communication was great, Richard was genuine and we felt very welcomed. Last but certainly not least, breakfast was absolutely delicious. Ticked all the boxes. A great find and we will be back! 5 ā Nothing.

The only improvement would be a bar in main lounge so you could have a wee nightcap before bed!! Otherwise a lovely clean and welcoming hotel with amazing staff!!

The hotel is in an ideal quiet spot off the main road and very well situated to explore on foot. Our room (12) was well presented as was the dining room where we enjoyed a superb breakfast. Highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

- 588bexk (10/5): A warm welcome and a great place to stay. Food is excellent - We had the pleasure of staying here for 3 nights. On arrival we received a very warm welcome and a slice of cake! Our room was wonderful! It was nicely decorated and very clean. It was also serviced each day. The breakfasts are great and thereās so much choice too. There is something for everyone. But do try the breakfast loaf which is bought to your table. The food is of great quality and you get to pick a slice of cake to take with you to enjoy later. The garden is a very nice place to sit after a day out maybe with your slice of cake and a cup of tea. Itās so peaceful at night aside for the occasional tawny owl which was great to listen to. I highly rate our stay here. We wouldnāt hesitate to book again. Thank you so much to everyone at The hideaway for your hospitality.

From start to finish we were very impressed with the room, the service and the hospitality from the hideaway team. Breakfast was very tasty and plentiful. Home baked cake each day of our stay, which is a lovely touch and a lovely treat Rooms are very tastefully decorated and clean each day. The weather has been fabulous so we were able to use the garden, which is a lovely area to wind down after a busy day sight seeing I can't recommend The Hideaway enough and wouldn't hesitate to stay again Thank you Hideaway team for a lovely stay

- Fizzandchips (10/5): Gorgeous hotel, friendly staff, fabulous location - We had a very comfortable overnight stay (room 3) and a delicious fried breakfast in the morning. We were given a very warm welcome and melt-in-the-mouth chocolate cake on arrival, the room was very clean and comfortable, the staff couldn't have been any more helpful, and we would definitely come back here in future. The hotel is walking distance from Bowness, which has lovely restaurants as well as docks and a variety of boat cruises on Lake Windermere.
