Zuzana (7/5): - Proximity to the beach, room design We stayed for 2 nights, and both mornings we were waken up by extreme noise from next door reconstruction (jackhammering into connection walls). We measured the sound around 80 dB and it was such a noise that we had to leave apartment as we could not stand it (pity I could not submit a video here as it would speak on itself). I complained to hotel staff and their offered me to move to different apartment which was nice from them but I had a headache all day long (most probably from that noice) and I was not in mood to pack again 4 people for another night. I hoped it will not repeat next morning but it did. I was so depressed that I walked out and talk to guys from construction and asked them to wait with drilling so we have a chance to pack and leave. Surprisingly they were quite nice and gave us an hour to leave in peace. I think this talk should be done between hotel manager and construction company and not between guests and workers. They could align about work schedule and not to offer this property when this type of work is done. I am not picky person and 99% I rate hotels 9 and above but this was really huge disappointment when you need to rush from the room because it is not physically possible to stay. After we left m, the hotel offered me discount for next stay but it does not help really. We were flying to PR from overseas and I do not think I will visit PR so soon due to long distance travel. So if anybody is considering this property, please choose different one which DW offers (or at least check if the construction is finished). I wished I would choose more wisely as some other guests were complaining about this issue before in their reviews but I ignored it. I do not understand why property management ignore it. If I could talk to guys at construction, they could talk too and learn about working plans and be honest with guest when booking.

Yajaira (10/5): From one Dreamer to another - My family and I were blown away as soon as we opened that white gate. Everything was so pleasing to the eye. It is such a well thought out tiny home feel. The lighting, the plumbing, the living room, the hammock. How lovely it was to walk out of my room to our private patio. Thank you Tropicalia by DW. I am one satisfied Dreamer!

Navreet (4/5): Disappointing - Upon arrival, we found several key boxes by the entrance, and misunderstood which apartment door was ours. By mistake, we ended up opening the wrong key box, but using the same code given for our key box! With these keys we managed to open all doors and enter the wrong apartment where someone else was already living. It did not feel safe that anyone in the complex could enter our room as well by the same mistake. The provider should have fully different passwords for the key boxes, no similarities. Also, for our specific apartment (Room 1R) there were 3 doors and 3 keys to enter the apartment, and none of them were marked. It was a hassle every time to find the correct key as the key holes are rusty as well. Our apartment was too small for 3 adults. The bathroom was not optimal at all either: The water from the shower flowed towards the sink and stopped there. We had a puddle of water we had to step in every time we wanted to use the sink. It felt very unhygienic
Nicole (8/5): - The TROPICALIA is beautiful and spacious. It has everything’s you’ll need to make your stay comfortable (e.g., beach chairs, beach towels, washer/dryer, etc.). It’s in a great location, walking distance from the beach and a strip filled with restaurants, bars, and lounges.
Yin (2/5): Very poor - There was on site construction in the same building for the Airbnb and it was not disclosed before booking or checking in. The issue has been forwarded to the Airbnb but they have not took any immediate measures to resolve or compensate the noise that starts every morning at 7am.
Jennifer (4/5): Disappointing - The property was as pictured. Like others have noted, the sink is comically small, so water collects on the floor no matter how careful you are. Other than that, it was nicely equipped and decorated. Unfortunately, I have to warn travelers against booking with this host. Every day of our 4-night stay, demo/construction was conducted on the small building from ~8:30am to ~3:00pm. At times, it sounded like someone was repeatedly dropping a bowling ball on the floor above us. I have video. It was bad. When I contacted the host about it, they explained that they couldn't control construction on the other half of the building, and they offered me and my grown daughter one free vegan breakfast at another of their properties. Even if we'd have enjoyed a vegan breakfast (my daughter has dietary requirements that they couldn't meet), this would've fallen far short of compensating for the bad experience. In my experience, good hosts: 1) Stay informed of matters impacting their property, like construction on the other side of the wall. 2) Inform their guests in advance of major issues affecting the quality of their stay, giving them the opportunity to find somewhere else. 3) Do not charge the full rate for a sub-par experience. I understand the desire to book rooms even through disruptions, but good hosts let prospective guests know what they're in for and would *never* charge full price. We definitely did not get what we paid for.

The picture above is not the one we stayed in, but it was similar. 1F. The key system worked great. Place was spacious enough, kitchen was just fine. Liked having the patios! VERY clean. Grateful for the washer and dryer and laundry soap. We parked across the street. The sheets were awesome!(What brand? Where did you buy them?) Providing coffee was awesome. The pipes for hanging clothes were ingenious! Having bedside tables and lights is very helpful. Thank you! Thank you for the 10% off coupon. Checking in at 4. Would have preferred 3. Beds were very low. Not much space to put toiletries in bathroom. Cute ice cube trays, but not enough … Not enough ice.

Maxim (9/5): Spacious and beautiful apartment in a quite and cute neighborhood close to the beach. - We enjoyed the spaciousness of the apartment, all the kitchen and laundry appliances, the balcony with a wonderful view, the beautiful decor, the live plants and little cute additional things like a hammock in the room. The only thing was that the downstairs gate was very hard to open and we struggled with every time. Also my room had ants, which wasn't that big of a deal as they were small and did not bite, but I still made sure to kill them all.

When we first arrived I was a little uncomfortable. But I did become more comfortable by the 3rd day. We had “no”issues. I was simply “surprised” by some of the homes in the area.

The shower knobs were a little difficult to turn to get the shower running and street parking wasn’t always readily available.
Ursula (2/5): - The apartment is located in an urban area and doesn’t have assigned parking spaces, but it is cozy and clean… so we didn’t mind until we noticed the air unit doesn’t work in the master room, you also don’t have anyone to help you and the only communication you have is through a message board with someone on the other side of it telling you to sleep on the sofa bed. The price I paid for one night and no air is unfair. I should of read the reviews before staying. I would not book this again

Secluded and private entrance to property. Very nice A/C and kitchen appliances. Very spacious living room Showers are small and tend to leak out so having plenty towels are a must. The private bathroom is very small so prepare to be a bit crammed. Wifi can be a bit spotty. There are times where the connection drops on the TV and your personal laptop.

Over all pretty and comfortable - very well thought-out concept The bathroom sink was so small that it was difficult to wash your face without water pouring on you and the floor. Verified traveler (2/5): Better skip this property - The apartment is in a dark street by a freeway. Water was cut off twice during our stay and the windows did not close properly so plenty of mosquitoes day and night. The owner offered to send a handyman to sort out the windows… our plan was to go on vacation not deal with repairs and handymen…for the price I thought the place could have been cleaner and in better repair. We moved to a hotel and there the windows closed so this is possible in San Juan, perhaps not at this apartment. The entrance of the building is quite horrible, needs a coat of paint and a better door.

Cracks all over the walls. Bedsheets very dingy. Room smell very dirty and moldy. Hammock is very dirty. The whole place looks horrible. Will never recommend it to anyone. Very very disappointed. Got there very late the first night. Was not able to get any hotel that night to leave immediately, but left the next day and stayed at another hotel which was more conducive to stay. We got sick from the MOLD SMELL. Rating is below ZERO. Shower is very nasty. Have pictures to show as proof.

Very clean!!! 5/5 Note for host: Use hinge pin door stops for the outside door. When it’s opened the door can slam into the glass sliding door (I saw that it was damaged from prior tenants). The toilet in the master bed can use an upgrade. It’s a bit finicky now. Had to reach in to the water reservoir and fix the chain a couple times. Light switch next to sliding glass door is missing switches (aesthetic component). The switch can still be used. One set of keys (out of the 2 sets of keys) is missing the key for the sliding glass door. A bigger garbage can (to match standard bag sizes provided) would be a plus. Dining table light flickers.

John (8/5): Interesting part of San Juan - Host keeps property clean. Two beds were comfortable. Apartment has character and is in an interesting part of town. Don't be alarmed by the graffiti in the neighborhood, we never felt unsafe and enjoyed walking to restaurants and to ocean (didn't swim there so not sure of condition of water). Only downside is narrow street parking and Google maps tries to send you down wrong way on one way streets. Once we figured it out we were fine (stayed two nights).
Verified traveler (10/5): - Interior is very clean, nice and modern. Nice patio areas as well Neighborhood may be a little more on the sketchy side but it is a very touristy area and parking is not too difficult to find.

Verified traveler (8/5): - It was a very comfortable stay. Security at the location was excellent. Lock box made it easy for us to have access, and security over all made us feel safe during our stay. The only bad part are the mosquitos and various Puerto Rican insects that are there at night. You would have to bring a insect repellant, or they might offer it at the location just in case.
Verified traveler (6/5): - When we arrived at midnight, we were given the wrong entry code. I called the host at his number and the emergency number multiple times with no response. We finally got some help from someone working at another property. The next day, the host offered us a refund for the night and then later declined to provide it after he "offered us a complimentary breakfast" which we were never given. I am grateful that we did not have a more serious emergency but I would reconsider staying here if you ever need help in the middle of the night.
