- Milen (10/5): -
- Astrid (9/5): - Super Lage, super sauber
- Khudher (10/5): -
- Carsten (8/5): - Top Lage mit der Fußgängerzone vor der Tür. Essen und Kiosk direkt nebenan. Zu Fuß zur Straßenbahn und 20min. zum Stadion.
Einfacher Checkin und -out.

- Nicola (7/5): -

- Klaus (9/5): -
- Philipp (8/5): -
- Luc (3/5): -
- Knut (8/5): -
- Nosa (8/5): Very good -
- Oksana (10/5): - Es war alles da was man braucht
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andreas (8/5): Very good -
- Emma (8/5): clean, spacious, very friendly owner - excellently placed, 2 stops from Vetlins arena where Rammstein were playing; clean and spacious inflated price, no air conditioning, no glass/mug or free drinks
- Gaynor1991 (2/5): AVOID AT ALL COSTS - TOTAL SCAM especially if booked through booking.com - avoid at all costs… I booked this hotel for my partner and son as a present to go to the euros and I booked through booking.com at the beginning of the year. The owner called me the day before arrival to say he cannot take card payment and they will have to pay cash on arrival. I contacted booking.com to confirm this is legit and they said yes, they cannot take card payment as the card is in my name and it is my partner who is staying (different surnames) which I didn’t understand as I chose the option to book for someone else on booking.com and have never had this issue before! I spoke to the hotel and asked if I could update card details to my partners card but he said he cannot take card payment at all and they are now cash only. Fast forward to check in and my partner pays €800 euros cash which was the agreed price on booking.com. In the meantime the hotel cancels the booking on booking.com advising they could not take payment and it is my fault so the reservation has been cancelled and left a marker on my account which shows as a no pay. My partner paid the original amount and got the room key and the man on reception then says he must pay an extra €200 because our son is 16 and that he is classed as an adult (I stated the age when booking and booking.com state adult is 18+) I contacted booking.com and they confirmed the hotel have “cancelled” on their system so the hotel do not have to pay them an admin fee but have still kept the booking to get out of paying booking.com and so they can pocket the cash. After several back and forths to the hotel and booking.com, the hotel were demanding the extra cash payment otherwise they will evict them so Booking.com advised they will rebook another hotel and cover the excess costs for us providing cityroom refund us our €800. Cityroom refused to refund and said the only way we can stay is to pay the €200 or leave with no refund…. My partner refused and carried on with his stay. The guy at reception was extremely persistent with demanding payment and the following day he then advised he will do him a deal of €100 instead. Again my partner refused and I continued to complain to booking.com. Eventually booking.com must have got hold of the hotel (not too sure what was said) but the hotel dropped the extra charges. But still a complete and utter disappointment for a hotel to do this to their customers. It wasted a whole day of constant calls and complaints which is completely unacceptable.
The hotel was basic and they were staying 4 nights, the cleaner did not clean their room (only emptied the bin once) never made their beds or gave fresh towels. My partner requested clean towels when he could (as the reception was hardly manned) and only got them on the 4th day which again is unacceptable.
Would not recommend this hotel to anyone (just wish we had read trip advisor reviews before booking - rookie mistake which we have learnt) after reading reviews I am now conscious that they have my card details and will charge us for the stay again but will take that up with booking.com if this happens.
- LIONEL (8/5): - excellent location
- Andrew (8/5): - Nice friendly personal welcome from owner
- Rosa (8/5): - It was a boutique hotel close to everything. Transfer to airport was arranged perfectly. Any request we asked for was done right away.
- Tony (9/5): Superb -
- Sean (2/5): Unfortunately my room was not available. - Cancellation of my room was not confirmed. Even after several phone calls they still confirmed that my room was available…..until I arrived! No room available and no alternative offered. Had to find a alternative room myself. Not good unfortunately.
- Vombatus (5/5): Passable - Good location and friendly staff. I had to wait to check in whereas I arrived to the hotel on agreed check in time.
No one answered questions about the parking, I had to find by myself.
As far as I find, there is no parking you can park 6.50EUR/day as they state in travelers FAQ.
- Mario (5/5): visited the hotel to attend a football game at the arena. - not that far from Schalke arena.
the neighbourhood is safe and calm False advertisement. the hotel claims to have parking and ev available. but they do not point out that the parking is on the street and EV charger are public spots.
- Andre (8/5): Very good -
- Olaf (9/5): Superb - Very kind, clean and bright.
- ebrown6373 (2/5): Terrible - Awful management staff and disgusting rooms. The guy working at the front desk is manipulative and a con man. Don't spend money here.
Stay in Hotel Monopol instead - they have much better management, rooms, and breakfast.
- tobiass68 (8/5): Nice, clean rooms with fridge - I stayed here in May 2020. The rooms are quite spacious and even have a fridge, something I don't see often in German Hotels.
They only do a check-in until 18:00 which I missed during the reservation. Also it wasn't possible to pay by credit card.
But the staff was nice and helpful, I was able to check in later and there was an ATM around the corner.
There was no breakfast available.
The free WiFi was very fast (~50MBit), but I don't know if that was because of low occupancy at this time.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Don't stay here unless you want to get bitten by spiders in your bed.
I am in Germany for work and was going to stay here. About 30 minutes after I checked in, I noticed a web and several tiny spiders crawling on the bed. I have had bad allergic reactions to spider bites before, so I went and requested a refund, as having spiders in my bed isn't acceptable. When I told the man at the front desk about the spiders, we walked up to the room so I could show him. He looked at them, brushed them off the bed and said "I don't see anything." Then I showed him one that I killed on some toilet paper and he took it from me and put the tissue in his pocket (later I asked what he did with it because I wanted to use it for proof and he said he "I don't know threw it somewhere"). He said there weren't spiders on the bed and he refused to give me a refund. I went ahead and booked another hotel, as almost all hotels in the area were sold out. This other hotel I am at is 45 to 60 minutes away from work, while the Cityroom hotel was only 5 minutes away. I asked him kindly again to refund me.
I booked through Expedia and told them about the issue. Expedia tried to call the man from Cityroom while I was still standing at the front desk. The man from Cityroom pretended like he couldn't speak english and hung up. I kept trying to get Expedia to help me out, and they wouldn't. Terrible customer service from both Expedia and The hotel. I will never book through Expedia again.

I said no because I couldn't expect the cleanliness of any of their rooms to be up to a reasonable standard. I couldn't bring myself to stay in a hotel that have spiders living in the furniture.

- Birgit (8/5): Empfehlenswert - Sehr freundlicher Empfang . Das Hotel ist sehr zentral gelegen . Schade , dass es keine eigenen Parkplätze hat . Einen Schminkspiegel habe ich im Bad vermisst .
- Stefan (10/5): Zentral in Buer, sehr freundliche Kommunikation - Zentrale Lage in Buer.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Super netter Empfang, großzügiges Zimmer, super Preis
- 358matthijsr (2/5): Very bad communication skills of owners - Very bad experience without even staying at the hotel. We have been trying to make reservations for a event in December, and tried this from April all the way to September. That's right, we've been trying to make reservations for 6 months! Mails are not answered. Phone isn't picked up. And when I finally (after several attempts) succeed in getting to talk to someone in person, there are always excuses why things don't work or why they couldn't answer. But also after that, promisses are broken and not one single time they tried to initiate contact to update me about my questions or booking attempts. Even after finally making a booking (and discovering some errors in the booking form/confirmation) and again several attempts to speak someone, promises are broken and nobody ever contacted me back. So I canceled my booking (also no confirmation of that) and managed to book the last room in another hotel for the event in December and thanks to the service there I found out what a worthless service Cityroom gives you. Do not book here.
- hollywoodc250 (10/5): Lovely Surprise! - We had a lovely stay at Cityroom. It was small, charming and spotlessly clean. The owners were friendly and helpful and went out of their way to help us in any way they could. I highly recommend staying here. It was Fantastic!
