Guest Reviews
- Linda (8/5): -
- Yulita (10/5): Lindsey is the most helpful person we have encountered from the time we booked until we left. She also sent a package to - beautiful property and location
- Larry (10/5): -
- Rachael (10/5): Charming historic property - This historic property was recently renovated in the best way—it kept the historical charm while now having all modern amenities. The entire property is beautiful and the location is very convenient if you’re hiking the Cotswold Way. The rooms are large and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again! There is not a restaurant in the hotel for dinner but this wasn’t a problem for us. We were able to walk a short distance down the road to a hotel with a restaurant
- Norma (9/5): Comfortable stay for one night - Location great, spacious room with great views. Nothing
- Anna (7/5): Very clean and comfortable - Fantastic location for walkers, exceptionally clean and comfortable, beautiful breakfast On arrival at hotel there was no one there, we were told we could use car park which was great but were told we would have to be back before 8pm to sign in, leaving our day rushed. There are a lot of steps up to the property for those who have difficulty walking. Also when we did come to book in it was done in our bedroom and very rushed no explanation of facilities

- Alyson (10/5): - Lovely homely hotel, beautiful room with amazing view. Host was wonderful and superb breakfast
- Jocelyn (9/5): Charming and quiet boutique hotel along the Cotswold Way - lovely breakfast with a view! - Charming boutique hotel along the Cotswold Way. Very quiet and comfortable - nice view. Very friendly staff and a lovely breakfast in the sunroom.
- Nige (10/5): - Everything Nothing
- Verena (10/5): -
- Anthea (8/5): -
- Gretchen (9/5): Very good - Lovely location with a great view, very nice, clean & comfy room, gorgeous breakfast and a lovely host, nothing too much trouble.
- Mark (9/5): -
- Martin (9/5): Clean, comfortable, friendly and excellent food. - Lindsey was very welcoming. Everything was scrupulously clean and the breakfast was cooked to order and very good.
- Fray (10/5): Want a thoughtful hospitality experience and extremely cosy rooms, this is the place. - The owner is so thoughtful and the standard of hospitality is above and beyond what I've experienced elsewhere. After a long day it was wonderful to come back and relax and have access to hot drinks, cold filtered water.
- Nicola (10/5): - Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of cereal including delicious home made granola & fresh local yoghurt, pastries & a made to order cooked breakfast with a vegetarian option.
Everything was spotlessly clean. Nothing
- Bridget (7/5): Good! - Clean
Comfortable
Excellent breakfast
- Joan (10/5): Relaxing, felt homely, quiet and the scenery was beautiful 😍 - Everything about the hotel was fantastic 👌.
Value for money.
Lindsey was very accommodating and helpful. There wasn't anything that we didn't like.
Would definitely stay again.

- Talita (10/5): - Everything was amazing, from check-in to check-out. We were warmly welcomed, everything was perfect, clean, and pleasant. We will definitely return. The breakfast was welcoming and delicious.
- Peta (9/5): -
- Geraldine (10/5): It was absolutely fabulous and Iwould highly recommend it if you want a lovely treat for yourself. - I thought the hotel was absolutely beautiful, the rooms were fabulous with the most outstanding views. They were very spacious and comfortable. The sitting room was like something from a magazine as was the dining room, with again outstanding views while having breakfast! There is nothing that I didn't like, maybe just one small issue, that if you arrive early there is no area to wait to book in, so it means having to leave the hotel and find somewhere else to wait. However, this is a very small issue in the grand scheme of things.
- George (10/5): -
- Alison (10/5): -
- Steve (10/5): - A small and charming hotel with wonderfully friendly, efficient staff. Breakfast was excellent — freshly made to order and served in a delightful conservatory overlooking the hills. Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and full of thoughtful extras like robes and filtered water carafes at each bedside. Perfectly located with easy access to the Cotswold Way. We would love to return — highly recommend!
- Elisabeth (8/5): -
- U S Vevek (8/5): - The hill and walking paths right behind the hotel and the views. Free parking. It is also only a 15mins drive to Cheltenham. The host was very pleasant. Not much really. I had a bit of trouble with the hot water in the shower, but figured it out eventually. Personally, we felt that there were not that many vegetarian breakfast choices
- Josh (10/5): -
- Linda (9/5): Made very welcome and comfortable. - Breakfast was good. Facilities very good with a lounge and games , books and drinks available for visitors. Next time i will ask for a lower floor with few steps.
- Gill (10/5): - So amazing. Above and beyond. Thank you xxx
- Hilary (10/5): Perfect place to stay, relaxing and comfortable, with amazing views over the Malvern Hills. - One of the best hotels we have stayed in - a warm friendly greeting, amazing views out across the Malvern Hills. The room was kept immaculately clean, and the shower was top notch - right down to nice big white fluffy bath sheets (not the teeny things we are used to at other hotels! Breakfast was amazing, such a choice of yogurt, berries and toppings to choose from, plus a full English cooked to order, pastries, whatever you wanted really. Nothing was too much trouble, fresh milk in the room, cake and biscuits on request. Couldn't fault it at all, and believe me, I am quite picky!! Nothing really, it was perfection.
- Kathie (10/5): - There was a warm welcome from Lindsay to a spotless Cleeve Hill Hotel. Lots of little touches from lovely toiletries to a hot drink machine and a tasty breakfast. We have already booked for next year. Sadly unsuitable for some due to the number of steps to the front door.
- Liz (9/5): Hidden gem of a hotel - Rooms spacious and clean. Excellent breakfast Stairs at front, can’t change much about the property being on a hill
- Stever (9/5): Wished I could have stayed longer - flying visit in circumstances concerned, noted for future ref! -
- Alan (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (7/5): Good -
- Fitz (9/5): Superb -
- Pt (10/5): This was the perfect stop on our Cotswold way hike - Very friendly, welcoming host - beautifully restored home, spacious twin bedroom on the 2nd floor w beautiful views, clean bathroom and our room also had a comfy sitting room - the breakfast had everything we wanted and the host was very helpful in planning the next stage of our walk
- Imre (9/5): Superb -
- Mary (9/5): Homely comfortable room with all creature comforts - Excellent position on Cleeve Hill
- Mark (3/5): Poor -
- Jeremy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Silvia (10/5): Thanks Lindsey to make our stay unforgettable. We had an amazing time. - Everything, from start to finish. From the delicious food to the warmest welcome and the accommodating hospitality and atmosphere. We really felt like at home. Nothing. This is a corner of heaven you must see at least once in your life.
- Martin (9/5): Very enjoyable relaxing time amazing view - The room was spacious and the bed was super comfy. The host was lovely. Not the best sausages.
- Shan (3/5): It’s a lovely hotel and area but the own makes the stay very cold and unwelcoming. Maybe she has lack of staff. We also - The location is beautiful The lack of assistance from the staff. The owner was very cold an had undertones in her voice. The breakfast was limited, unorganised and bad. I was told there was no sausages at 9:30 am even though I witnessed her serving sausages to others. There was no milk or clean cutlery set out. Lack
Of water. She only servers tap water.
- Abigail (10/5): Exceptional - Modern and stylish, breakfast was incredible and the host couldn’t have done more for us
- Lynda (9/5): Superb - Welcoming and friendly staff
Lovely, well appointed roo
Super comfy beds
Great breakfast
Fabulous views
Truly met our expectations Nothing was wrong
- Anup (7/5): Good -
- Anthony (7/5): I think we chose the wettist day of the season. - Very good, could offer larger selection of fresh fruit. Location spot on. Climb to top floor with luggage number seven.
- Martin (10/5): Very enjoyable experience would definitely stay there again - Excellent room, great en suite and very comfortable bed. Breakfast was also very good together with a great view from the conservatory. Great host and staff very friendly. Location is perfect with brilliant walks on the doorstep and a pub 5 mins walk away A few steep steps from the car park could be a problem for some
- Jeni (10/5): Would definitely go back next time we visit Cheltenham! - The property was extremely clean and the room was very comfortable. We had a ground floor room with an external door which was nice to open and let the fresh air in. Lindsey was always on hand to help and breakfast was freshly cooked and tasted lovely!
- Elizabeth (7/5): Good -
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Joanne (9/5): A wonderful, relaxing stay. Would like to go back for longer. - It had stunning views that made you feel very relaxed and appreciative of our beautiful country. The only negative I can say really was it being dog friendly but no actual separate area to eat with your dog.
- Laura (10/5): A lovely place to spend our 30th wedding anniversary. - Wonderful location, fabulous views in a tranquil relaxed setting. We were very happy with our experience of the hotel.
- Christopher (10/5): An excellent comfortable hotel offering excellent breakfasts too! - Couldn't be more helpful & friendly. Large well equipped comfortable room with large very comfortable double bed. Excellent breakfasts. Comfortable downstairs lounge for guest use too. We very much look forward to coming to stay here again in the future! There's a substantial climb from excellent car park up stone steps to the property which is not ideal for those who aren't able to walk well. But good handrail is provided as an aid & for safety all the way up.
- Susan (10/5): Comfortable, clean and friendly - Host is amazing, helpful, friendly, breakfast is amazing, rooms are clean comfortable and your a close distance to local areas and events in all directions.
- Suzanne (9/5): Fabulous stay with a lovely host! - The size of the room and bed was great! The room/hotel had a lot of character and the location was great for visiting the Coltswolds villages and surrounds. Nothing really! Very happy with the stay. Maybe a little fridge in room but was not a an issue as Lindsay was very accomodating with milk ect
- Dianne (10/5): Would not hesitate to go back -
- Judi (10/5): Great location - Lovely B&B nestled alongside Cleeve Hill - beautiful !
- Laura (8/5): Very good -
- Philip (8/5): Very nice stop over if doing Cotswold Way in a lovely location - Lovely large room and bath was well appreciated Would describe it as a hotel but was a nice B&B
- Tim (10/5): Overnight stop - Comfortable bed good view Nothing
- Iaroslav (10/5): If there is a perfect hotel, then it’s this place -
- Kaur (8/5): More variety for veg cooked breakfasts - Location was good for walks and getting to other nearby villages
Just lacked variety for vegetarian cooked breakfasts compared to non veg breakfasts. Could have had more or generous options for vegetarian cooked breakfast to compensate for the scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, etc, the non veg customers get. Could be offered avocado, vegan bacon as other options.
- Trevor (10/5): Really great hotel - Really nice welcome and a lovely hotel
- Ron (8/5): Very good - Location in cotswold None that I can think of
- Rebecca (10/5): Beautiful Situated, Fabulous Views, Lovely Room. - We were walking the Cotswold way and Cleeve Hill Hotel was right on the route, we could walk from the back door onto the common. We had such a beautiful room with totally exceptional views of the the surrounding hills and mountains. The Breakfast was lovely, it had so many different homemade options including granola. The honest Box Bar was a lovey touch too. We will certainly be going back
- Lorraine (10/5): Very enjoyable. - Lyndsey was very helpful. She was able to wash our clothes and helped us contact transport service for our bag to next location. Nothing
- David (10/5): Very comfortable and enjoyable and Lindsay was a very pleasant and welcoming host. - The breakfast was lovely and one of the best , if not the best we have ever had when we have been away from home. We thought everything was excellent
- Emma (10/5): Great hotel - Host was excellent nothing was not too much for her, can’t fault anything during our visit N/A
- Harsh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bristow (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, friendly staff, good breakfast, comfortable bed.
- Suzanne (8/5): A great place to stay and explore the Cotswolds. - Lyndsey has a beautiful hotel. The view from our window was stunning. We stayed a week and the bed was changed again during our stay. It was a great location to explore the Cotswolds. It would be helpful to have a local walk as per the Rising Sun Hotel’s binder for guests with walks in.
- Gavin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Graham (10/5): Exactly what we needed! - Free Easter candy!
- Kenneth (10/5): An excellent base to explore Cleeve Hill. - Excellent location to explore Cleeve Hill. Gate straight out onto the hill, great boot room facility too. Most helpful and friendly host Lindsey. Excellent choices for breakfast…thoroughly enjoyed the full English and toast with home made jam. Yeah, a thoroughly great place to stay. Many thanks. Nothing..all good.
- Billy (10/5): Perfect - Very clean and welcoming The whole place
- Alison (9/5): Superb -
- Rudi (9/5): Superb -
- David (8/5): Very good - Good location on Cotswold Way. Good drying facilities for boots and clothes. Fantastic view from the room with lovely bathroom and v comfortable room.
- Jason (10/5): We will be back 😊😊 - Breakfast was delicious and choice was brilliant. Room was really clean and lovely
Bed linen. Our dog was made most welcome too.
- Harald (8/5): Very good -
- Bret (9/5): Wonderful experience, excellent hostess, exceeded expectations. -
- Noha (6/5): Easy, it was more of a bed and breakfast for travellers then for someone who is coming to relax - Location More amenities in the room would be nice
- Ann (5/5): Sadly for me, the hotel & its owner didn't match too well with its description on Booking.com. - Roomy car park. Breakfast very good with plenty of well-displayed choices. Location good for Sudeley Castle, Winchcombe & Cheltenham. Communal areas on ground floor elegant & light. Beautiful views from front windows.
Garden Suite room fairly spacious & well equipped, lovely bed. Effective & warm shower. Plenty of power points, good TV & quality linen & towels. On arrival hostess's welcome polite but not warm, & no help offered with luggage to 1st floor, even when I mentioned my "gammy knee". (To reach the ground floor one also has 10 or so steps up the garden path.) Peeling wallpaper in room. Splits in armchair upholstery. Fresh milk supplied but in minute quantity.
Despite having explained beforehand that I've been recently widowed & would be on my own, for my first day there were bathrobes & glasses etc for 2 people - insensitive.
- Dawn (7/5): Good -
- Elizabeth (10/5): Exceptional - Our host was lovely, a very hard working woman with lots of good advice about the area.
Breakfast was a lovely extra very fresh and well cooked - I'm a veggie and my partner is GF we both felt well looked after - really spoilt for choice and never left the hotel hungry.
The room was really well cleaned and we had spectacular views to wake up to, even on a dark and cloudy day
A very romantic get away, I would definitely recommend, and I will be coming back hopefully soon!
Also a lot of nice places for dinner around the area.
- Ann (10/5): Really enjoyable experience. - Excellent location
Land lady very friendly and she could not do enough for us. All Good
- Pedroso (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (9/5): Superb - Location cleanliness
- Judith (5/5): Parking - Bath water was extremely slow that it took over 15 mins to fill the bottom. Did not meet modern day expectations of bathing once a day. Parking was very limited and quite dangerous with a drop to the pavement below with no barrier in place. Only one key per couple with front dock locked at all times, very inconvenient.
- Urszula (7/5): Good -
- Martin (10/5): A lovely hotel in an excellent location. - Breakfast was excellent, very tasty. Rooms were very comfortable and immaculately clean. Lindsey our host was very helpful and welcoming. Location is excellent for both the Cotswold Way or for heading into Cheltenham.
- Campbell (8/5): Spacious room, comfortable bed, good breakfast, beautiful views - Beautiful view from our bedroom
- Karen (9/5): Lovely relaxing stay - Peaceful Nothing
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
