Einen längeren Aufenthalt empfehle ich nicht. - Die Gartenanlage ist sehr schön Ein Hinweis: Das Hotel hat angeblich 4 Sterne und auf dem Nachttisch liegt ein Zettel, auf dem darauf hingewiesen wird, dass man eine 10-Punkte Bewertung anstrebt. Ich glaube nicht, dass der Besitzer sich bewusst ist, was es dafür braucht. Schon die Naturstrasse, die von der Einfahrt zum Haus führt ist von holprigen Löchern übersäht. Eigentlich bräuchte man hier einen 4WD. Wir wurden nicht vorgewarnt. Hier Pflastersteine zu verlegen wäre kein Luxus. Der Empfang war freundlich. Ansonsten hat die Rezeptionistin sich aber nicht gekümmert. Es fehlt ein wirklicher Gastgeber. Bei einem so kleinen Hotel erwarte ich das. Der versprochene Moskitostecker wurde auch prompt vergessen. Wir erhielten 4 Schlüssel an einem Bund. Das war nicht einmal ein schöner Anhänger dran. Kein einziger der Schlüssel war gekennzeichnet. Sie sahen aber alle sehr ähnlich auf. Einer war für die Eingangstüre zum Gebäude, ein anderer für das Zimmer, ein weiterer für die Terrassentüre und ein weiterer für die Jalusie. Eine Kennzeichnung der einzelnen Schlüssel wäre kostengünstig machbar und hätte ums bei der Heimkehr jeweils viel Zeit gespart. Zerrissene Handtücher, die so wie mir schien während der 4 Tage nicht ersetzt wurden. Keine Konsistenz bei dem Herrichten der Zimmer (einmal liegt das Pijama irgendwo, einmal auf dem Bett, einmal unter dem Kissen). Das Duvet war dünn und die kleine Zusatzdecke war aus billiger Kunstfaser und hat bei den tiefen Temperaturen nicht wirklich geholfen. Ich hatte meinen Kaschmirschal dabei. Der hat mich gerettet. Nicht genügened Ablageflächen im Zimmer, keine Haken an der Wand, damit man die Jacken aufhängen konnte. Das Badezimmer hatte praktisch keine Ablageflächen und auch hier gab es keine Haken, um die Tücher und Badesachen aufzuhängen. Jeden Morgen immer das gleiche frische Joghurt mit Früchten. Warme Speisen konnten bestellt werden, die dann kalt serviert wurden. Einmal war der Speck so hart, dass ich ihn nicht essen konnte. Toast, Buffet... nada

I met the owner, and he was as friendly as his staff. I actually wished I could stay a few more days just to relax. Love the idea of Trust Bar, wonderful to see we can still have places like that. The breakfast is the only thing of my whole experience that I would say was a bit of a letdown. The first morning my food was cold and DRY. I left most of it. The rest was not wonderful, but good.

- Sabine (10/5): Ein perfekter Start! - Wir waren begeistert von diesem wunderschönen B&B mit riesigem, gepflegten Garten, Pool, Teich mit Vögeln - am Rande der Großstadt Johannesburg. Wir hatten den Standardroom gebucht, ebenerdig. Sitzmöglichkeiten hatten wir außen auch direkt vor unserer Tür. Zimmer und Bad waren tiptop sauber. (Achtung: Vom Zimmer zum Bad/WC gibt es KEINE Tür!). Alles gepflegt und funktionstüchtig. Das Personal war super lieb. Am folgenden Morgen wurde uns ein tolles Frühstück gezaubert, welches wir aus einer Menükarte auswählen konnten. Parken kann man nahe des Hauses, für die Einfahrt erhält man einen Code bzw. Schlüssel. Für Start oder Ende einer Reise ein idealer Ort zum Relaxen - hier kann man allerdings auch längere Zeit sehr gut verbringen.

That personal touch was everything! It’s a guesthouse. When it’s morning time, you will be woken up by the sounds of the staff working in the kitchen.

Staff was friendly and I liked the freedom in the house, made it feel like it was my own home. The only thing that i was confused about is that i think we got the wrong type of room. From booking online, I'm pretty sure it was suppose to be an upstairs room with a balcony, but i got a room that was downstairs and looked very different to what i booked. Nevertheless it was a great experience!

I stayed at a room near the hall gate and so was woken up a few times for early/late arrivals as well as when the morning kitchen team arrived to work.

Lovely lounge area by reception where you can meet people for a drink. Eating area opens up to a patio overlooking the garden and plunge pool. Unfortunately I did not get a chance to use the pool but it looked very inviting. Bed and linens were LOVELY! Slept very well! Shower had good pressure and my apartment was well equipped: sink, fridge, microwave, TV and sofa. Really enjoyed the breakfast on offer and the versatility to change a few things. The steak dinner was cooked to my liking and the food and dessert were very good! If you want a secluded getaway for the weekend - this is your place! Nothing not to like. I was not aware of how far it was from Fourways but other than that, all was good! You may want to consider also offering sparkling wine to your selection.

It is very private and hard to believe that it is situated amongst so many complexes, but you don't see them at all. very private. The wi-fi was very slow, and I could not let the TV work... The aircon was dripping water on the bed, but the staff tried their best to sort it out and offered to move me to another room. It was however a cool and rainy night so I did not need the air con.

Before I got here, I was a little.bit worried that the apartment lounge/kitchen area didnt have blinds/curtains. On arrival,.I saw, rest assured, there were blinds. So I absolutely liked everything.

Spacious rooms and large comfortable beds. Safe, quiet location set into the heart of the property away from the entrance road. Child friendly and love the family heritage of Amberhall. - Nadine (9/5): Eine Oase zum Verweilen - Wir waren von dem wunderschönen angelegten Garten total begeistert. Am Morgen einen Kaffee im Grünen genießen war einfach nur Erholung pur. Das Team war so unfassbar herzlich und lieb, die Köchin hat so ein sensationelles Essen gezaubert. Also wir würden das nächste Mal gerne länger bleiben. Nichts ☺️

- Hermann (10/5): Die Rettungsengel des Amberhall Guesthouse - Die Europcar Autovermietung hat mein Leihauto mit einem Navi ausgestattet, das nichts taugt. Es hat das Hotel weder mit Eingabe des Namens noch mit Eingabe der Straße gefunden. Ein Anruf beim Hotel und Mrs Elisabeth hat mich abgeholt. Die nächsten zwei Tage hat mein Navi zum Hotel zurück gefunden. Aber siehe da, am vierten Tag hat mich das Navi abermals in die Irre geführt, ca 3 Stunden lang. Letzter Rettungsanker, ein Anruf im Hotel. War ich bei der ersten Irrfahrt ca 2 km vom Hotel entfernt, so waren es jetzt ca 15 km. Mrs Elisabeth hat nicht gezögert und ist um ca 19:30 Uhr ausgerückt um mich abermals zu retten. Die Köchin, Mrs Teesha hat mich täglich mit einem wunderbaren Nachtmahl verwöhnt, sodass sich meine Nerven beruhigt haben. Das ist Kunden Service auf höchstem Niveau!!! - Wendy (9/5): - Prachtig huis, mooie kamer met twee (niet-afsluitbare kamers). Vriendelijk personeel en eigenaar, die graag tips geven. Heerlijk ontbijt en diner (250 p.p. incl. dessert) bereid door Turcia. Mooie tuin met zwembad, maar daarvoor was het niet warm genoeg. Zelf koken is lastig, want er is geen kookplaat. Ook is er geen eettafel of bank in de kamer. Dit is geen probleem, want er is een gemeenschappelijke woonkamer en diner verkrijgbaar. De airconditioning krijgt de kamer helaas niet erg warm.

I also liked how secure the guesthouse was, I felt safely locked in and considering how dangerous Johannesburg can be, I thought every measure was put in place to keep guests safe, great job!

- Tarryn (6/5): I must say that if it wasn’t for the surroundings I would not return for that rate. - Breakfast was fine. Faith cooked me a great dinner, all freshly made flat bread etc, she’s a keeper. A few things for me was amiss. I was not created at reception. I went and found my own room. My coffee machine did not work and was told to walk down the hall and get coffee there. Things that are needed in my view. Red wine should be better for an establishment that charges R1400 per night. Espresso machine in room 8 should be replaced. Shower should have a separate body and shampoo. I did not see a telephone in the room so I always needed to find someone if I needed anything or to know anything. That’s my 5c worth should you wish to take it. Many thanks
