- Ulrich (9/5): - No organic food
- Elizabeth (9/5): Very happy with our stay - Lovely old pub/hotel in great location with friendly staff Noise from pub below our room
- Edwin (8/5): - Sfeervol In de ochtend waren we te laat voor ontbijt , hadden het niet goed begrepen de tijden. De mevrouw van ontbijt vond ik niet heel meegaand
- Liane (10/5): - Authentisch, urig
- Richard (9/5): Charming country pub close to the Thames - Welcoming and helpful staff, Lovely cosy bedroom. All we needed.
- Shirley (6/5): Nice stay - Food was very good. Service excellent.
Shower was excellent
Ample parking Steep stairs
Noisy neighbours
Bed not comfortable
- Leo (10/5): It was great and we would gladly stay there again. - The pub is a very old historic building with lots of character. We loved having a beer in the pub after a hard day of touring historic castles and manor houses. We had great conversations with local people in the pub. The breakfast was excellent and we ate in the restaurant all three nights of our stay. Nothing,

- Sophia (10/5): Wonderful cosy hotel - The attention to detail. Couldn't fault anything about what they did to make it a nice dtay. The cooked breakfast was chef's kiss. Staff friendly. Tilted foundation as I have vertigo. Room very small. Steep stairs. Despite these things, you forgive it as it's so good
- Jane (8/5): Great location. Well organised and friendly staff. Restaurant excellent. - Dinner and breakfast excellent We stayed in least expensive and was comfortable but very small. One night was ok but upgrade for longer would be my advice.
- Graham (9/5): It’s always my first choice for a stay when in the area - Location, clean, great staff, very good food, beautiful building. Worst point I guess would be virtually no comfy seating in the bar to chill out on, only tables and chairs
- Penelope (9/5): Comfortable, historical, atmospheric stay - Very comfortable bed, superb location, great breakfast.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Nothing
- S (9/5): Heerlijk verblijf in oud Engelse stijl! Vriendelijk personeel. Geen overdekte plek om fietsen te stallen.
- Martin (10/5): -
- Joanna (8/5): Acceptable for our one night needs and friendly staff. - Quaintness and in a quiet area. Precariousness of the stairs and beams but all part of an old building.
- Wendy (10/5): -
- Rachael (10/5): Absolutely fabulous - Beautiful place, gorgeous room and food! Nothing
- Margaretha (10/5): Geweldig verblijf -
- Patricia (7/5): Enjoyed my stay. food lovely and perfect place to relax and see have river walks . - staff very welcoming, particularly the restaurant staff. Room described as cosy, it was certainly that but fine for single occupancy. Coffee machine was broken in the room but staff member replaced it for me.
- Deborah (8/5): Great location, lovely rooms, mediocre food - Bedrooms were really comfy Food wasn’t great and some of the staff were not particularly friendly or helpful
- Adele (10/5): -
- Tracy (10/5): -
- Sarah (9/5): - Very nice room. Compact with all the facilities you'd need. Good location and food. Would stay again

- christian (10/5): -
- Meryl (7/5): Overall a satisfactory stay. - Great quiet location. Easy parking. Walks around. Character pub. Quaint bedroom. Delightful extras in room. Great breakfast. Quality evening menu. The bed was a small double. Only one chair. Failed to operate the coffee machine.
- Laura (9/5): Perfect option for an overnight stay. - The history, the relaxed vibe and the breakfast choice, so good! How hot it was at night.
- KAY (8/5): Comfortable traditional inn. - Great staff. Comfortable room if a little cramped. Good food.
Welcome drink a nice touch. The shower was in need of attention - very weak flow of water.
- James (8/5): Great place for a night - Location is great. Rooms a little small. No bath in my room
- Louise (9/5): - A cosy and welcoming place. Friendly staff. Clean and spacious. Comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast. Nothing. Parking can be difficult when it's busy but it's not a big problem.
- Ken (8/5): -
- Gillian (7/5): -
- Anthony (9/5): Apart from the above the rest of our experience was positive with an especially warm welcome. - Our only disappointment was the full English breakfast. The bacon was cold ,hard and inedible we complained but received no apology from the member of staff who appeared totally disinterested. The breakfast.
- Karen (9/5): Loved it - Very cosy , friendly & welcoming. Parking very limited
- Hilary (9/5): Great! Thanks - Everything was great- the breakfast was excellent! The only improvement could have been the lighting in the bedroom - a reading lamp by the bed would have made reading easier, but a tiny thing..!
- Stilwell (9/5): - comfortable room- easy booking in. nice room with toileteries-good The stairs-We're old! BUT it's an old building so want do you expect!
- Rebecca (10/5): -
- Hayley (9/5): Great Mother’s Day night away . - Lovely cosy pub . Lively atmosphere . Room was cosy but well equipped with everything you could need . Bed was really comfy .
- Louise (10/5): I would highly recommend it and can't wait to come back - I like everything, the rooms were lovely and the bar area, and the surrounding areas, the staff were nice and the food was lovely Nothing, it was a pleasure to stay there
- Julie (8/5): Nice rooms and friendly staff in a great location - Great location, friendly and helpful staff, good value, comfy bed and good shower. Food good on the whole but one main course was disappointing. Breakfast service was a bit slow.
- Joan (5/5): Such a shame, we have stayed here before, but this time very disappointing- but staff were excellent and did their best. - Very close to The Mill theatre Room was tired and very small We also had issues with lack of hot water.
- David (8/5): -
- Yvonne (9/5): Beautiful building, helpful staff and delicious food. - It was beautiful and located perfectly to attend a concert at The Mill. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The facilities in the room were excellent. Superb choices for breakfast and the food and coffee were delicious. Parking was tricky especially as it was a Sunday. The stairs were steep (I have mobility issues) but I was advised about both these issues and the staff went out of their way to help me & carry my bag.
- martin (9/5): - Old pub style
- David (10/5): -
- Kay (8/5): A lovely ancient pub well worth a visit. - The decor was in keeping with the history. The food was good. The hanging space was limited and broken. The food was sadly very over salted.
- Isabelle (8/5): -
- Michael (8/5): -
- Jess (10/5): -
- Gerard (9/5): Overall my stay was very enjoyable id definitely come again and recommend to others. - My whole stay at the bull inn was enjoyable, staff were helpful and friendly. Food at dinner and breakfast was good. The room I was in was cozy and comfortable. The room was a little small, but was fine for just one person.
- Andrew Keith (8/5): Over all I would recommend this hotel to all my friends x - The room was nicely decorated with a good sized bath room ,the hotel a d bar was excellent the restaurant had a good selection of food and the location was beautiful 😍 The breakfast staff were a little bit grumpy
- Honora (5/5): Small room, too hot, good breakfast - It was convenient for where we were going that evening, and it looked very quaint and picturesque. They are plenty of toiletries and towels-including face cloths which was lovely and the Price slippers were a nice touch. The room was far too hot even after the radiator had been turned off at 4:30 when we arrived, it was uncomfortable for the whole evening despite a window being open wide. Because of the sloping floors and the strange carpet pattern it felt most precarious walking in the room and the bed seem to be sloping as well! The bathroom was tiny and had no Window, the sink was barely functional and the shower dripped and leaked constantly. The bed was too high so when I sat on the edge of it, my feet didn’t touch the floor and the Mattress seemed to want to throw us out of bed.! The coffee machine is useless. Three of us tried to operate it and we all failed. There was no in instant coffee fortunately they had bought my own along.
Parking was limited so we were invited to use the church only to be blocked in the next day and told by the people at the church that the hotel had no right to be allowing people in there.
- David (7/5): Great location and history but with some unexpected external noise - History and ambiance It was noisy we could hear voices chatting outside or from the bar below until 23:30 that prevented us from getting off to sleep.
- Sandra (10/5): The staff were friendly and helpful enabling me to have a relaxing time there. - The style of the property and location is perfect. The rooms are full of character and cosy.
- Philip (7/5): Ok, but don't expect a quiet evening if you want to get to bed early. - Handy for where we wanted to be the next day. Nice old pub. Food was nice even though they substituted the fancy veg for plain old Savoy Cabbage (and when we pointed it out the waitress seemed not to respond). Would have been nice to explain the substitution beforehand.
Our room was quite small so it was single carriageway with passing places around the bed. And the floor had an ideosyncratic slope from the bed to the showerroom. Our room was right above the bar so we could hear every conversation within it. I mean every! We had dinner, but wanted to return to our room instead of hanging around in the bar, but the noise coming through the floor was so loud we needed to have our TV on a high volume just to hear it. Fortunately it died down just after 11.
Also when we came to leave we were trapped in the car park by a beer delivery for around 10-15 minutes. It was a good job we were not in a hurry.
- Cheryl (9/5): -
- tony (9/5): Very pleasant - The old charm and style No music at breakfast
- Isabel (10/5): -
- Emma (10/5): Lovely stay - Small room but really lovely - the bar feels really friendly with lovely open fire
- Caroline (8/5): -
- Femmy (8/5): Heerlijk verblijf gehad in de mooie omgeving van de rivier de Thames! - Mooi locatie Niets
- Sonia (9/5): Would certainly choose the Bull Inn again. - Very comfortable beds, well decorated warm rooms with good coffee and tea facilities (fresh milk and a plentiful tea choice was a treat). An excellent breakfast. We received a cool reception when we arrived early without forewarning.
The pub toilet floor were the reason I marked down the cleanliness. The room and en suite were very clean.
- Harriet (10/5): Lovely pub, rooms, food and location - Beautiful pub in a lovely village. Great evening meal and wine selection and lots of choice at breakfast. Room was comfortable and beautifully decorated. Powerful shower in pretty ensuite. Went for a peaceful walk along the Thames. Perfect one night stay.
- Sandra (10/5): Cosy, relaxing and welcoming. - Location and style Nothing not to like.
- Nicola (9/5): A fab stay in a welcoming place - Very welcoming and helpful
A lovely room- v well decorated and everything you needed. N/A
- Leslie (8/5): Beautiful Ancient Inn, Great Location - Atmosphere, beer, location, food. The beautiful pub is ancient and therefore difficult to maintain to modern standards.
- JULIAN (9/5): -
- Jason (10/5): -
- Pam (10/5): Relaxing, fabulous stay. - Everything, facilities were lovely, had everything we needed. Food was exceptional. Location perfect. Nothing, loved it!
- Janine (9/5): Will definitely return - Lovely pub, obviously popular, well appointed rooms, great food
- Rebecca (8/5): Convenient accommodation for pre Christmas family visit - Nice characterful inn by the river. Close to Caversham for a family visit. Good breakfast included in price, service was efficient. It was a busy night so a bit noisy in room until 11.30pm. Stairs up to room steep and room compact. Breakfast waitress could have been more friendly.
- Robert (10/5): - Room was comfortable and pleasingly quaint. Had a great full English breakfast in the morning. Also, adjoining the Bull Inn is a beautiful centuries old church and cemetery. The church has a still active congregation and is open to explore on weekdays.
- Benna (9/5): Beautiful pub, amazing staff, lovely food and perfectly positioned. - Beautiful old property with wooden beams and real log fire. Very quaint nice rooms and lovely restaurant and bar area. Some small things need updating and we stayed above the bar and could hear the conversations that people were having.
- PJFS (8/5): Very enjoyable stay in small but cosy room at the Bull Inn. - Very comfortable bed. Room small but cosy. Great breakfast. Very convenient for The Mill at Sonning. Nothing
- Stephen (9/5): -
- Peter (8/5): A lovely stay by the river. Quaint, rural with good beer and food. - Beer and food.
- Mark (10/5): -
- Maureen (10/5): Friendly staff. Great breakfast.cosy well appointed room - Cosy welcoming pub. We have stayed here many times when we visit the Mill at Sonning to see a show. Conveniently placed. Great breakfast.
- Dodger53 (7/5): - Location No welcome feeling from the staff we met. I think they were short on staff.
- Hazel (9/5): Lovely place to stay - Excellent breakfast as always, we have stayed a few times when we are going to a show at The Mill at Sonning.
Free drink voucher when checking in, better than used to have a small bottle of fizz and beer in the room.
Nice to enjoy a drink in the nice cosy bar.
Love the smell of the shower gel. 🥰 The bed wasn’t very comfortable , it was a soft mattress and a space between the mattress and bed surrounding frame.
- Roger (8/5): -
- Katerina (7/5): - Lovely location, good breakfast, very friendly staff Unfortunately accommodation is looking tired and is in need of redecoration
- Christopher (10/5): A lovely village Inn, comfortable room, lovely helpful staff and superb food. - The Bull Inn is a unique place to stay, set in a lovely village. The staff are welcoming and attentive, with very comfortable rooms. The pub/restaurant was lovely to relax in the evening with a superb menu of which the food was excellent. In the morning the breakfast was of the same standard as dinner especially the Full English that properly set me up for the day. Nothing at all
- Joanne (9/5): -
- Patrick (10/5): Great stay - The atmosphere
- David (8/5): Comfortable, atmospheric. -
- Steve (9/5): Excellent - will stay again - breakfast and room very good room was surprisingly hot
- Brian (9/5): Really enjoyed our short stay at this top notch Inn - Lovely old building with loads of character. Comfortable accommodation a decent food. Just perfect for a short stay and a show at the Mill. Wasn’t aware how many steps up from reception to room. Top price for food but it was very good.Didnt appreciate the extra 10 pc service charge added to my bill .
- Davies (8/5): - Loved the location and old features. The noise from the bar, you could hear every conversation until the bar closed.
- Dave Guy (9/5): Sunday Evening Stay - Staff were excellent; very friendly and professional. Room was lovely with a number of nice touches including a mat and bowl for the dog. Dinner was super; a Sunday roast option and breakfast equally good. Not a lot!
- liann (9/5): -
- Brenda (8/5): However apart from those little niggles we had a really lovely stay the food was exceptional and we hope to visit again - We had seen The Bull Inn on Channel 4 and decided we would like to visit
It was set in a lovely location Didn’t like the fact that we arrived around 4pm and Car Park was pitch black there is a security light that comes on on entry .
There was no milk available in the accommodation or water do I had to make my way in darkness to the pub to ask for some .
On my return yes the security light came on but I feel it should work both ways.
Also TV wasn’t working we mentioned it at breakfast next morning and found out that the Ariel wasn’t connected properly to back of the set .
- Martin (9/5): - The room was cold and could do with a paint
- Brian (8/5): an excellent venue for our stay in sonning - excellent food storage space a bit limited
- Genette (9/5): Lovely quirky inn - Lovely old property, full of character. A bit quirky. Excellent breakfast. All staff I encountered were helpful and approachable. Being a Friday night, it was busy so parking was a little difficult and noise levels quite high till 11.30.
