The room was very clean, spacious and just what we needed. Bathroom felt modern and the views were really nice as well.
The guest house is situated only a couple of minutes from the Oxenholme train station so it’s really easy to get to places like Kendal if you don’t fancy driving, plus there’s a pub 30 seconds walk down the road which was nice.
If we are ever back towards this area in the future, the Glen will be our first and only stop, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We liked everything here.

- Mrunal (10/5): Wished I would have planned a longer stay. Didn’t feel like leaving the place. - The smile on Pauline's face while welcoming us, her warmth while giving advice, recommendations, the meticulous approach for every small detail to ensure comfort of the visitors, the love and care, they went out of the way to serve us breakfast well before the timings mentioned on website so that we could take our early train. Exceptional hospitality, thoughtful gestures and services, humbleness. A must visit for anyone visiting Lake district on their own and vide train journeys. The accommodation is at the most convenient location - Oxenholme. High proximity to the station. Absolutely nothing to dislike.
- John (10/5): Perfect guest house. - Breakfast was great . Rooms spotless and a quiet location good parking. Five minutes drive to kendal town centre. Highly recommend this guest house. Nothing.

- Steve (10/5): Fantastic! - Everything!
Lovely hosts, great room with everything you would need for a very comfortable stay
Absolutely delicious breakfast too
We will be back next time we visit this part of the country Nothing everything was perfect
- Paul (9/5): Good food , great hosts a lovely experience. - Our room was beautifully presented with every necessity catered for. The breakfasts were delicious. Whilst a little away from the centre of Kendal both rail and bus connections were on the doorstep. Both Pauline & Bill were excellent hosts. A very minor point, but our room was dark and we had to put the lights on all of the time.
- Karen (8/5): Excellent breakfasts, friendly staff, very comfortable room and everything was lovely and clean - Friendly and clean
- Adrian (10/5): A super stay with very friendly service. I would in recommend it to anyone. - The room was very spacious, the beds comfortable, the location very peaceful, and the breakfast exceptional. Nothing I can think of.
- Andrew (10/5): Bed & Breakfast done proper - The breakfast was exceptional, way better than what you'd get from a hotel breakfast. Their order-ahead system (which is typical for a British B&B) ensures your table is ready and complete the moment you roll outta bed and downstairs to their dining room. Bill and Pauline are very attentive and will make sure your stay is relaxing, regardless of whether you're a couple, family, or group of friends traveling by. The description oversold the view a bit. You either see a backyard row of trees or the parking zone. It's not like there's a nearby scenic landscape to admire.
- Rosanna (9/5): An excellent B&B for a short stay - An excellent comfortable B&B in a quiet peaceful area on the edge of the Lake District with friendly helpful staff. Excellent made to order breakfast with other meals available at a good country Inn a short walk up the road. Comfortable modern well equipped rooms with very good en suite shower rooms. Cleanliness is excellent. Would stay again. The desk in the room is a bit narrow. Although the rattan armchairs are comfortable, they are a bit too close to the bathroom entrance. We had to move them very close to the desk in order to release some space to walk to the bathroom.
- Steve Jones (10/5): Outstanding service and property - Excellent service and good service and friendly staff service 👍 All good 👍
- Khuzema (10/5): The Glen is the place to stay - We loved the accommodation. Could not fault it. Bill and Pauline were brilliant, kind and attentive to us and very hardworking.
Breakfast was fantastic. Nothing to dislike
- Louise (10/5): -
- Allan (9/5): -
- Rosalind (8/5): Just what we wanted - Clean and comfortable. System for ordering breakfast the night before worked well. Provision of home made marmalade was a lovely touch. Wonderful modern bathroom and shower. Room was quite dark with no view.
- Steve (10/5): A great stay, we will be back -
- David (8/5): -
- Franziska (10/5): There is not much to say but thank you for taking such good care of your guests! - Bill and Pauline are really the heart of The Glen. They make you feel at home!
- Gaston (10/5): Highly recommend this excellent bed & breakfast! - Friendly hosts, spacious and clean room with large en suite bathroom, great location and parking. Dog friendly. Excellent breakfast. Everything was great!
- Ann (10/5): -
- Laura (9/5): Amazing stay for Kendal and the area - Lovely warm welcome and a thorough run-through of how breakfast works. There were soo many little thought full touches e.g a torch and taxi fob on the key ring, little scissors to open the tea/coffee sachets etc, a great selection of teas and coffees in the room and dairy alternatives available. They made sure I was catered for and dealt with any requests I had.
The room was cosy with everything we needed, including a proper hairdryer! If you needed a top of anything, then there was a little form to get what you needed, and it magically appeared!
Breakfast was delicious, fresh, and good quality. Because you picked your options and times, it was ready quickly.
The location was great to get to Kendal and the lake district. There was a lovely pub a few minutes walk away with lovely food. The bed was quite springy, so when one person moved, the other bounced around a bit.
- Cheryl (9/5): -
- susan (9/5): - Very comfortable with lovely hosts. Difficult to get up the hill from train station with luggage. Did manage to pre book a taxi to get us such a shirt distance. Would recommend Lakeside taxi service. Very accommodating and reasonable.
- Chri Be (10/5): It was a perfect stay. - It was a beautiful breakfast custom from the chef. The host took our order. We had to arrive late due to delays of the plane, and missing the main train. She was helpful in talking to the uber driver to get us where we need to be. nothing.
- Alison and Derek (10/5): Great stay. - Clean and comfortable guest house.
Friendly and helpful owners. Very accommodating with breakfast choices.
Safe parking. Liked everything.
- Mr Mr Welham (10/5): - Pauline and bill very friendly wonderful hosts , lovely pub and restaurant around corner ,plus train station which is handy if you need to go out anywhere
- Laura (10/5): Fabulous place and hosts - Friendly welcome, beautiful room. Very comfortable, lots of lovely touches. Highly recommend!
- Noa (10/5): Paulin and Bob were great hosts, helping us feel at home away from home - The hosts were very pleasant and hospitable, trying to make our stay as comfortable as possible, including assistance with booking activities and recommending places to go to. we even had the pleasure of meeting the family dog which added great joy to the kids
- Deb (10/5): -
- Richard John (10/5): - 酒店環境,店員服務態度和超級好吃的早餐 沒有
- Emily (10/5): - Delicious breakfast, extremely well appointed rooms, friendly hosts with good local knowledge. They've really thought of everything. Nothing :)
- Elizabeth (9/5): We had a delightful, comfortable stay at the Glen. Thank you Pauline and Bill! - The room at the Glen was comfortable and cosy. The bathroom looked newly refurbished and was very clean.
The organisation for breakfast really worked and was delicious.
- Clare (10/5): Lovely welcoming stay - will come again! - Both hosts were lovely and friendly - always helpful and made me and my dog feel welcome from the get-go. The room was lovely - gorgeous view, extremely clean with plenty of tea/coffee and biscuits in the room. The bathroom was spotless and toiletries were provided (as was a hairdryer so that saved on some luggage!) I travelled with my dog and he was made to feel welcome, treats were provided in the room (which he loved).
The location was also ideal for me as I don't drive and arrived by train - it was a 5 min walk from Oxenholme station and there was a nearby pub which was also only 3-5 min walk away. Not applicable
- GlobeJo (10/5): Hostess could not do more to ensure that all guests have the best ever experience. - Traditional Family-Run B&B. Pauline is an experienced hostess: welcoming and really hard-working to ensure her visitors have just the best possible experience. She goes out of her way to try and anticipate every need and is super organised.
Breakfast is cooked as per one's personal tick sheet request with excellent local ingredients: in 3 weeks of touring this was easily our best breaksfast.
We appreciated the secluded location surrounded by mature trees and pleasant colourful garden with small seating. Great hanging baskets all around too.
We stayed in a quiet Super-King Double ensuite room: very comfortable bed, a generously stocked hospitality tray and TWO armchairs available.
Ample on-site Parking.
Enjoyable evening stroll from the property up to the hill called "the Helm" for views over the countryside/town.
Local Pub just 3 minutes walk away: hearty traditional dinners & great atmosphere.
- N.Nair (10/5): -
- Derek (8/5): -
- david (9/5): Top place to stop for a couple of nights. - Everything. Good location 5 mins from pub where we could get a good meal, lovely breakfast. Excellent secure parking for our bikes, pre book through. Nothing
- Andy (10/5): -
- Molly (9/5): Lovely, clean room and excellent hosts. - Excellent. Sausage was a bit salty, but other produce was lovely.
- Neill (9/5): Plenty of places to visit, outstanding scenery and comfortable guest house. - Pauline and Bill were friendly and helpful welcoming hosts. Good value for money.
The double room was spacious with a cosy settee, TV and free Wifi. The room felt very private as no other guest rooms abutted our bedroom or en-suite. Also we had mature tree cover outside giving more privcy from distant neighbours. The setting was quite rural.
Breakfasts were well organised and covered a choice of cooked and continental, all of good quality. Ambiance was good.
Location was excellent for all travellers, with nearby access (200m) to train and bus. Kendal was only about 10 minutes away by car. M6 junction 36 was also only about 10 minutes away, the location for the Cumbrian Wool Gathering which had been our reason to go to this area. We added extra days so that we could explore it more. Our hosts were very knowledgeable and had additionally provided leaflets and access to helpful books and routes for vehicle drivers and walkers alike. They helped us to get the most out of our time there. Highly recommended.
- Thomas (10/5): - Great breskfast, comfortable room.
- Erica (9/5): Clean and comfortable - Very clean and comfortable room, beautiful and quiet location, close to the station and some lovely nature walks. A bit too strict when it came to pets. Not allowed on beds, chairs or in the breakfast hall. When we booked pet friendly I thought there would be a little more flexibility, but I suppose this is part of why the room was so spotless!
- Vishal (10/5): Lovely short stay at the Glen Guest house. Highly recommended. - Proximity to the oxenholme station. Just 1 min car ride to the Guest house.
Thoughtful touches in every aspect
Excellent breakfast by Pauline & Bill
