- Shirley (10/5): Exceptional! We will definitely be returning - Everything! Nothing!

- Peter (10/5): Very good - Everything Nothing

- janet (10/5): Everything was amazing! - Omg loved the property …. We have stayed in so many places around the world in last few years and this would have to be the best ever… from the quality of the room .. the space… the small details … the bed … the breakfasts … the dinners … value for money … the staff … we even stayed another night. Thank you so much 😊
- Clare (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were highly professional and welcoming. The room was fabulous and super-clean and well appointed.
- Geoffrey (10/5): -
- Melanie (10/5): The staff are so friendly, the accommodation is fabulous and the food is amazing. -
- Carol (10/5): Fabulous - we will return and stay longer. - Room and breakfast – lovely!
- Malcolm (9/5): -
- Fiona (10/5): A beautiful place to stay and staff who make sure every element of your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. - The staff were fabulous and nothing was too much trouble. The accomodation was beautiful worth every detail thought of. Nothing.

- Melanie (10/5): An absolutely amazing place - Plentiful free parking with security cameras, check in was fast and efficient and I was personally shown to the cottage. Stunning. Spotlessly clean, so thoroughly well equipped it's unbelievable. There were even some shortbread biscuits in the shape of a peacock and a feather left for me with a super personalised welcome letter. The cottage has absolutely everything you could need and more. In the bathroom were luxury toiletries and cotton wool balls and earbuds in a beautiful holder that you only ever see in top flight 5 star places these days. Everywhere was immaculate, the bed was super comfy and the cottage was so peaceful. The batroom offered both a bath and a superb shower too. The decor is gorgeous throughout. Then the views!!! A gorgeous little cottage garden with seating outside and an amazing view from the double aspect lounge. The food in the pub was outstanding both in the evening and at breakfast. Both occasions offered a lovely selection for every taste and when it came it was beautifully presented, fresh and so flavoursome. Nothing. I would move in if I could! Amazing place
- janet (10/5): - Property and restaurant lovely, staff exceptional 👌 Was all looking
- ELBanks (10/5): Five Star service - I stayed at The Peacock at Barlow last night and honestly could not fault a single thing about my experience.
From the moment I checked in, every member of staff was incredibly warm, welcoming and friendly. I was personally shown to my room where I was greeted with a fresh scone, clotted cream and jam, and fresh milk for tea and coffee which was such a thoughtful touch and absolutely delicious.
The room itself was beautiful, luxurious, immaculately presented and with fantastic attention to detail throughout. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, the duvet was wonderfully light yet incredibly warm and cosy, and I slept so well. The monsoon shower was excellent and the White Company toiletries were another lovely touch that made the stay feel extra special.
I also dined in the restaurant and the food was exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff, and I particularly wanted to acknowledge all of the young team members working throughout the restaurant, housekeeping and hotel generally. Every person I encountered was polite, professional and genuinely friendly, a real credit to the hotel.
It is rare to experience service that feels so natural, attentive and sincere. The Peacock delivered a true five-star experience whilst still feeling relaxed and welcoming.
I would absolutely stay again and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special stay in such beautiful surroundings.
Thank you again to the whole team for such a wonderful stay. That I couldn't stay longer !

- Cefn Tellsthetruth (8/5): Lovely Cottage, but room for improvement - The cottage was clean, modern and functional; it was roomy, and the heating was easy to control. The staff were also nice and accommodating. The cottage was also only a minutes walk away from the nearby St Lawrences church, which was an interesting authentic place to visit To be honest and to offer constructive feedback, the shower in the ensuite was problematic. Not sure if you're supposed to have a bath and use the shower faucet by hand. Moreover, the towelling house coats were a bit tatty, and the breakfast left a lot to be desired
- Heather (8/5): -
- Gillian (10/5): An overall great experience, hope to repeat again - Lovely surroundings, great room and facilities. Friendly staff who were very helpful when I mentioned I was coeliac - offering lots of gf options. Most enjoyable staff - would highly recommend.
- Jan (10/5): -
- MarikaG (10/5): Another fabulous stay - Absolutely everything....beautiful boutique rooms, fabulous food and very friendly, efficient staff.... all at an incredible price.
Have already booked our next stay. Absolutely nothing not to like
- Emma (10/5): An absolute pleasure - Just love The Peacock and all the staff, second time we've stayed there and it was just perfect. The room was gorgeous, the bed and pillows were so comfy, the bathroom was super luxurious. Lovely touches with the welcome note and fresh scone waiting for us. All the staff are so welcoming and helpful. The evening meal and the breakfast were both amazing, literally couldn't fault a thing. It's an absolute pleasure to stay at the peacock, can't wait for the next time 😊 Nothing
- Daniel (10/5): -
- Carole (10/5): - Best stay so far. Very classy family owned hotel. Food was excellent, breakfast individually cooked & awesome value for money. Huge bath & bathroom, thoughtful touches in room. Staff very friendly & helpful. Stunning stainless sculptures beautiful old building with modern rooms. An absolute must stay if you are within 50 miles of it!!! Only disappointment was we only had one night, could have stayed much longer. Do not miss Absolutely nothing to not love!
- Alan (10/5): Wow Factor - Wow!! Room North Down was exceptional. Very clean and spacious. Biggest bathroom i have seen, bigger than my own at home lol. Also the staff very friendly and quiz is exciting. The food was outstanding and I will book again hopefully this year. Fingers crossed for the same room. Nothing
- Claire (10/5): -
- William (10/5): The perfect getaway in the perfect cottage - The photos do not do it justice, from the outside it looks nothing special at all, once inside it just keeps giving. Very quirky, clean, immaculate and spacious. Nothing
- S (8/5): Fantastic staff, good accomodation, our food was a bit disappointing. - We stayed in one of the cottages which was very cute and homely. Fresh milk was supplied as well as fresh scone with jam and cream which is a nice touch. Beds were ok, but not super comfy. The staff were fantastic, very pleasant and chatty and always helpful. The beer was also very good. We ate at the pub and were rather disappointed especially as they have a good reputation for food. We ate somewhere else on the second night. We both had fish pie, mine was okay with plenty of fish but a very watery sauce. My friends pie was mostly mash. The veg were all reheated frozen which is rather disappointing. We did mention this to the staff. We ate on a Monday night and it was fairly quiet so I'm guessing the usual chef was not there. Even so I don't think frozen veg is acceptable.
- Naomi (10/5): -
- Nicola (9/5): - Staff was welcoming, beautiful room Nothing
- lee (10/5): Just book a stay - you wont be disappointed. - Compelled to give positive feedback for the Peacock at Barlow. Stayed for 1 night at in the Barley cottage which was first rate. The Peacock seems to have it all – immaculate and clean rooms that are elegantly furnished, a beautiful sun terrace that looks out over open countryside – great vibe on a nice day. Customer service is second to none as the staff appear to have an upbeat caring attitude which is a credit to the management – extend this to the cleaning staff who all do an excellent job. Breakfast on the terrace was the icing on the cake. Should have stopped here for an evening meal as the food looked delicious but we had a booking elsewhere already. It really is hats off to the Peacock – well done to you all for caring about your guests. nothing to say here
- Amy (10/5): -
- Peter (10/5): We rarely get away but our stay here felt like a week rather than the 3 nights booked. Excellent. - Our stay was excellent.
Firstly the room was better than described. The bathroom was exceptional with the shower being the best we have ever had. Little things like the way the water didn't end up all over the floor because the shower base was set properly. (Our experiences elsewhere show this is rarely the case). The bed was comfortable but not the best we have experienced in that it took a couple of nights to wake truly refreshed. The view from the windows across the valley were amazing.
The staff were very friendly and naturally attentive. Many were young but were very well trained and happy.
The food was also a delight. We are vegetarian and on two evenings made our own Tapas style dinner with a variety of side dishes. All our requests were met with "of course" and not "I'll ask the chef/manager".
Choice of drinks was as expected with a very good selection of local ale. Nothing.
- Davina (10/5): -
- Michael (9/5): -
- Nicholas (10/5): - Lovely little cottage, super clean and had everything we could want, including a pub next door 😂
- Cammish (9/5): Brilliant - All of it None of it

- Nicholas (10/5): Fantastic night away the weather was lovely. Do we was able to eat our breakfast out on the terrace. - The property is very well laid out. Very posh and clean. Gave us a real holiday vibe.
- Catherine (9/5): This was our 3rd visit and we will be back! - Very comfortable bed, immaculately clean, lots of thoughtful extras ( scone with jam and cream, fridge, robes and slippers, good hot drink facilities)
And a great breakfast with good choices.
- Chadwick (10/5): - Staff very friendly and helpful
Room and setting were beautiful It was all amazing
- Alina (10/5): - Amazing place and people
- grant (10/5): We were made welcome, made comfortable, the food was excellent along with the service. - It was in a beautiful location Nothing
- Nicholas (10/5): -
- Laura (8/5): Fantastic value for money within easy reach of most things - Everything you could want on site What was included with breakfast was not clear
- Marie (10/5): -
- Harrison (6/5): There was no place in the restaurant where dogs weren’t allowed. Prices in the restaurant were high and not reflected in - Bathroom was lovely. No wardrobe in the bedroom so with clothes hanging up on a rack in the room made it look untidy.
- Judy (10/5): This is a gem of a place, beautiful views, clean, well-equipped rooms, good food, great staff. - Room was lovely, nicely furnished, clean, lovely bathroom.
Free parking, lovely views.
Coffee, tea, water and a fresh scone wiht jam and cream provided in the room, which was a lovely touch
The breakfast was delicious
Staff were friendly, efficient and ready to help This is being really picky, but pillows were a little firm for our taste
- Lewis (10/5): Excellent stopover on our way to Southampton - Exceptional, good choice from traditional fried breakfast to yogurt sundae. Nothing
- Laurie (10/5): - Stylish and comfortable, exceeded my expectations in all ways. Super, large bathroom and very clean. Greeted us with a fresh scone in our room. Great value for money, The only, minor thing would be the tv could've been on a bracket that would allow tilting for better viewing.
- Gemma (10/5): Perfect stay - Car park and EV charger available, (MER app)Staff were fab, couldn’t do enough for you. Hotel fresh modern. Very clean, well kept. Food fantastic, stayed 3 nights and ate there every night. It is very busy as a guest of hotel recommend booking table, the orangey had a beautiful view. Bed comfy, room just as expected as per website. Bath lush after a long walk and walk in shower just superb. There are the added extras in the hotel, room had fridge lovely to have water and milk replenished. Just could not fault this hotel would 100% return Nothing, no criticisms at all
- Alan (10/5): -
- Ferguson (10/5): Great alternative to the chain hotels. - Very nice hotel & lovely staff. Would certainly return & recommend.
- Nick (10/5): Great place I will stay again soon - The peacock is the perfect place .the staff are brilliant ,the bar and restaurant runs like a well oiled machine, and the rooms are perfect
- Merry (10/5): Accommodation, staff and food all excellent. - Our fourth stay at The Peacock, Barlow. Stylish and comfortable with excellent staff and food. Highly recommend. Nothing.
- Helen (10/5): Overnight stay at The Peacock - The roon was comfortable, clean, well equipped and luxurious with attention to detail throughout. Staff were friendly and helpful. The meals were delicious. We loved our stay at The Peacock
- Linas (9/5): -
- Michael (10/5): -
- Philip (10/5): - Convenience of a lovely restaurant and a comfortable room. N/A
- lesley (10/5): Amazing - What an amazing place..staff are lovely..food is gorgeous..accommodation was good..lovely place would definitely stay again Our room was on ground floor so we didn't get the views
- Sophia (10/5): Perfect in every way - It’s very individual not like so many chains. Staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much. Loved the bath and the delicious breakfast really didn’t want to leave.
- Lynn (10/5): Simply wonderful, would definitely recommend - Fabulous from start to finish!
Room and view simply stunning. Food was amazing and staff were all so pleasant and welcoming. Would definitely recommend I struggled to find a fault, however if I was being really picky it would be the underbed storage areas were so stuffed full of bedding etc that they were sticking out underneath the valance and my husband nearly fell over due to this
- Kon (10/5): Amazing hotel making a memorable experience - Lovely location. The room had excellent quality furnishings and amenities, which we felt were tailored to our needs. It was exceptionally clean and smelt nice. All the staff were friendly and welcoming especially Emily with her bubbly personality, making us feel special. The food was 10/10 with generous portions. Nothing
- Rob (10/5): A warm and friendly stay. - All of the staff members were lovely and had good knowledge of the drinks and food menu. The room decor was nice and had everything you would need. Location was great for exploring the Peak District and Meadowhall was only half hour away. There was nothing to dislike.
- Nicola (10/5): Fabulous - Lovely decor in room Nothing to dislike

- Chris (10/5): -
- Karen (10/5): - Very clean, comfotable and nice finishing touches in rooms and all areas. Very friendly welcome and staff in general. Great views. Would recommend and would return. Thank you
- Lynda (9/5): The staff were so hospitability and we had a wonderful experience - It was in an excellent position, small village overlooking miles of field We are not keen about dogs where one eats, but it was very good
- Alexandra (10/5): - Staff and room were amazing and the food was delicious. We had a great time and the location is very picturesque. Such a relaxing and comfortable stay. Thank you!
- Lilly (7/5): Quaint little cottage in a great location! - We stayed in Sycamore Cottage, which was very traditional and unique. Lovely breakfast just across the road in the pub> The cottage is lovely, but on the small side. Perhaps going there with 2 tall teenagers wasn't the best option. We did not have the best of weather either, but I can imagine it will be absolutely lovely in warmer days. I was disappointed mainly with the cleanliness of the bathroom, the grout in the tiles was black, the ceiling fan was covered with dust and clumps of dust fell on my head as I was having a shower. It seems like the rooms at the inn are prioritised.

- Maria (10/5): Excellent stay to include value for money. Will be returning. - There was parking as u entered which is a great start.
The staff were helpful and kind.

- Ewelina (10/5): -
- Benedict (10/5): -
- Colin (10/5): A wonderful stay at a beautiful place - Everything - but best of all were the friendly, helpful staff. They are a credit to the business Nothing - except I wish I could have stayed longer
- Elliot (9/5): - Loved the bathroom! Bath and shower were awesome. Room was lovely, massive big bed.
Food was delicious. Plenty of tasty drinks options, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Hard to find much. One minor issue, I found the air con quite confusing to work, and unfortunately I woke up at 3am too hot. I tried and failed to lower the room temperature with the air con, so just resorted to opening the window, which did the job.
- Lee (10/5): Exsceptional - no more needs to be said! - Very warm and friendly welcome on arrival. All of the staff were incredibly attentive and helpful along with a friendly smile. The food quality was exceptional with fantastic service. Great location in a quiet village with incredible views across the countryside.
