Guest Reviews
- GROCHA (10/5): Beautiful and welcoming. - As consistently mentioned in other reviews, the owners are one of the top reasons for the high ratings. And that says a lot, considering the amazing location overlooking the sea, the gardens, the clean and spacious room, the delicious breakfast. Sonia, Biagio and Leonardo made us feel as if we were visiting family and it was a perfect base for exploring Maratea and the coast.

- Celenza (10/5): -
- Coppola (8/5): - Luogo molto tranquillo. Camera pulitissima con vista mare.
Bagno nuovo ed efficiente.
Buona colazione, dolce.
- Lorraine (8/5): If you are looking for a peaceful, tranquil place in the Maratea area, B&B La Toretta is the place. - La Torretta is perfect for a quiet stay in the Maratea area. Beautiful views of the sea, and the Skywalk was breathtaking! If you want to swim you will have to drive to a beach, but not very far away. There is a very nice pathway down to the sea where you will find a very rocky shore. We didn't swim as it would have been very hard to get into the water there and the sea was rough. The driveway into the B&B property is very narrow and steep so best to have a small car. There is plenty of parking when you get down there. The hosts were very kind and very helpful and served a delicious breakfast. There is really nothing else to do in the area but relax and enjoy the scenery. You can get back in your car and drive to the town of Maratea or any of the little coast towns along the way. We were directed to a lovely restaurant just up the hill from the B&B. Be sure to try Il Cesare if you plan on a stay in Cersuta. The village is outside of Maratea and the roads in and out are very mountainous, narrow and steep. The only disappointing thing was there was no wifi/internet available so checking for anything was impossible. Also no TV. But our room was very clean and comfortable with a really nice view. No wifi/internet and the fact that the coast was too rocky to swim. But that is our own fault for not researching better. Other than that, it was a good end to our vacation in southern Italy.

- Anna (10/5): - Fabulous stay at La Torretta. We had to leave our rental car at Lagenegro as we punctured tire on Sunday, arrived late at La Torretta by taxi, local restaurant was closed but we were hungry and had no car. Biago had welcomed us and gave us some beautiful fish he caught earlier and local wine and we were very happy 😁 Very friendly and hospitable family, in the morning Sonia arranged a taxi for us to take us to the train station. Highly recommend this place, thank you Sonia & Biago 😁
- Katy (6/5): Needs a refresh - The accommodation was in a self-contained rustic cute cottage with lovely views out to the ocean and over the gardens & trees. You can walk down to the ocean, in a beautiful dramatic rocky cove, although it's not a super easy place to access the sea to swim, over the rocks. It's an easy and picturesque walk to the Skywalk nearby, with very impressive views. The hosts recommended one excellent restaurant, Da Cesare, where we had some excellent and reasonably priced fish dinners. The cottage definitely has rustic charm, especially for those wanting an off the beaten track adventure. Although our hosts provided all the basics, the accommodation needs a refresh. For example, the towels and bed linens, while clean, looked like they'd been in circulation for many years. Some of the furniture was old and a bit rundown, though the bed was comfy. The breakfast was fine, but we would have preferred a basket supplied to the cottage rather than walking up to eat in the host's kitchen. We were also disappointed that one of the hosts had a habit of smoking right outside the open doorway while we ate breakfast.
The hosts didn't offer much advice about the local area, which was challenging as Maratea had definitely hit off season when we arrived (mid-Oct) and not much was open. It would be great to have some more information provided about some local restaurants, grocery stores and activities. We found the driving around Maratea, even just up to the old town, very challenging, which increased a sense of isolation during our stay.
- Richard (10/5): - Closely associated with a genuine Italian family-very kind and helpful.
Consigliatissimo!
- lorenzo (10/5): Esperienza da ripetere - Tutto

- Sara (7/5): Good - Difficult to park at facility fir non Italians.
- paul (8/5): - Beautiful view especially at sunset. Biagio and Sonia are very gracious hosts. Not a walkable area but easy access to services by car. Towels and linen as well as mattress of in need of upgrading.
- Laura (10/5): - La Torretta is a gorgeous property with amazing sea views. The host was so kind and even brought me a rose because it was my birthday ( so sweet)! Loved it and highly recommend.
- Niall (8/5): - The room is a small cottage shed in a private garden area a short walk from the main house
Very peaceful and enjoyable if you like rustic and nature . There is no sea view from this room but short charming walk down to the sea from the house
Very enjoyable stay and the owners son was very helpfull . Only one real eating option nearby ( fish only ) . so you may need a car to explore further
- James (10/5): The hosts make it special - We enjoyed our stay very much. Leonardo got us checked in promptly on our arrival and made a great recommendation for dinner which he also took care of making our reservation for. Sonia took great care of us, providing an excellent breakfast. Everyone was so friendly.
- Judit (10/5): 100% relax in a “secret garden” - The cottage is beautiful, well-equipped, comfortable and the garden is fabulous. Hammocks hanging between the olive trees, squirrels running up and and down all day, it’s like a secret garden where one could relax and really leave the stress behind watching the sea when swinging in the hammocks. Within a short walk you can reach a small bay at the sea from where the sunset is breathtaking. The breakfast is served on the terrace of Sonia and Biagio, everything was delicious and and felt like eating amongst family.
Thank you Sonia and Biagio for the warm welcome and your kindness! Absolutely nothing. It’s perfect as is.
- Ed (10/5): Wonderful Famly - The host family was wonderfully warm and helpful. We so enjoyed the delicious breakfasts and visiting with them in the mornings.
- Leslie (10/5): Exceptional -
- FERNANDO (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay.
- Bettina (8/5): - Sonia is a wonderful hostess and the views and location are superb!
We enjoyed the black beach nearby! Fabulous swimming and sunbathing.
The only not so great thing is the mattress on the bed, which is rather hard.
- Ian (10/5): Fabulous - Beautiful, quaint, and charming room.
Immaculately presented.
Stunning views from lovely veranda.
Mini bar with reasonable prices.
Lovely host, great breakfast.
Ample parking. Location a little out of town.
- Simon (8/5): Basic accommodation with beautiful view and friendly owner - Beautiful view, very friendly owner, good breakfast with croissants and freshly prepared eggs Basic room
- Sandra (9/5): A great stay! - Tasty breakfast, a warm welcome, and a cozy place to rest!
- Teka (10/5): - Our stay at La Torretta was perfect. Sonia and Biagio were so kind and amazing hosts. When we arrived they greeted us with wine, food and espresso. Our room was beautiful and had a great view of the sea. We were brought a wonderful breakfast every morning with fresh fruit, pastries, bread, cheese, cappuccino… it was a perfect start to our morning having breakfast on the terrace with a sea view. The room itself had everything we needed and was a quiet place to enjoy our time in Maratea. We would happily go back to stay again and would recommend it to others. Great hosts and a great stay!
- Dave (9/5): A good location for our short stay in this coastal area. - The breakfast setup was excellent. Parking is tricky here, but Sonia explained that we could park in the lot of a nearby restaurant, which we did. A great suggestion, and we did eat an excellent lunch there. The view from the balcony was great. The pillows could have been softer. The room was small, but we compensated by leaving our luggage in our car.
- Paul (8/5): - If you’re coming in the evening be aware that you have to make a right turn off a sometimes busy roadway on which traffic moves quickly. It’s a lovely small room with a fabous outdoor space and view of the sea. A short drive to Maratea and its port.
- Robert (9/5): Superb - The location was gorgeous. The room was quaint and very comfortable and welcoming. The hosts were beyond generous and friendly. They greeted us with a tray of delicious food when we arrived and were very kind and helpful. The breakfast was wonderful. It was a delightful personal experience after staying in impersonal hotels.
- Aisha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Smadar (10/5): - Very nice 👍
- Whitney (10/5): Peaceful, scenic location with great sea views and delicious breakfast - This is an amazing place! The sea view is fabulous and the tranquility perfect. The hosts are so nice. The property is near a great restaurant. We loved staying here and the breakfast was delicious. Sipping coffee on the terrace with a view of the sun on the sea made a great stay even more special. Can’t wait to come back.
- Jessica (9/5): Gorgeous location, wonderful hosts, beautiful view. Sonia and Biagio are fantastic! - Sonia and Biagio are wonderful hosts. So accommodating and friendly and warm and wonderful! Everything was great.
- Rene (8/5): Very good - Nice host. good breakfast. small
- Kamil (9/5): Cozy property with great views - Amazing views
Great intimate small beach a short walk, great for sunsets
Very nice and accommodating owners
Room with nice feel to it.
Nice breakfast Pillows were weirdly heavy and not too comfortable (though that is just looking for faults)
- Verified traveler (8/5): - .Beautiful view.Good breakfast.Nice hosts.Need small car to get to town .Have stayed in similar BnB’s that were a little better value but overall a good stay.
- Chris (10/5): - Upon our arrival our host Sonya greeted us with her homemade limoncello (which was molto bene) and Biagio, her husband, joined us shortly after, offering us home made sausage and wine. We were quite taken aback by their their hospitality. Although we spoke little Italian and they're English being limited we sat with them on the terrace and had many a good laugh.
They gave us a lovely dinner recommendation at a restaurant a few minute walk from the b&b. The grilled tuna was delicious.
We will definitely be returning to this part of the world and will stay here again.
