Guest Reviews
- Thomas (10/5): - Would stay again
- William (8/5): - Great view and location
- Jeff (10/5): - It was a very nice hotel with a beautiful view of the marina and you could see beautiful sunsets and coud see the lighthouse
- Penny (8/5): - Ovracoke is different. Loved the atmosphere! Be sure you know where you are going before you get here.
- Henry (8/5): - We liked proximity to dining and shops. Room was spotless but worn.
- Betty (8/5): - Ac had issues
- Nancy (10/5): - Clean room
Staff friendly
- Janet (10/5): - Just right for a weekend getaway.
- Lisa (10/5): - Clean and spacious room with great balcony view of harbour and sunsets. Staff were super responsive and kind
- Lynette (6/5): - There was no cart to move luggage up the very slow and hot elevator. The room was decent but there was a dog nearby barking for a couple hours. Really annoying. Management was slow to respond and make the dog stop. And no breakfast.
- Kelly (8/5): - Nice stay
- Marsha (10/5): - Older but clean with good customer service.
- Jason (8/5): - The location was good and easy to come and go. The bed was very stiff and the a/c didn’t get the room cold enough for my liking.
- David (6/5): If all you need is a clean room - The room was clean. If you’re expecting anything else then look somewhere else. All places to stay are conveniently located. The island is small so worry about getting around if even on foot. I considered a lower rating.
- robert (8/5): - We arrived early, and can't complain about not being able to check in early, but found it annoying to go back at 2:00 as instructed and still being unable to check in. Room was ready at 3:00. Thereafter everything was satisfactory. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. We did not request maid service during our 3 day stay. Had no problem receiving a hair dryer and extra towels, soap and coffee pods.
- Cynthia (8/5): - Parking was difficult and my door would not open without force
- Brenda (6/5): - Smokers on comnunal balcony .Old hotel with great location
- Kathy (6/5): - Wonderful location, just down the street from the ferry terminal. Great shopping close by. Golf cart and bikes available. Nice sitting area in front of the rooms.
The hotel is old and needs some care. No frills no hair dryer. Dogs allowed which is so nice.
We still had a great stay and vacation.
- Jayme (6/5): - The Anchorage was located in a super location. I loved having the area on our floor where we could sit for morning coffer or an after dinner drink. The bath and beds were great. We had to find towels, the front lock was not working well. When I could not get in I went to get someone who basically said it was me...until he could not get in. We struggled with that the entire time we were there. My main complaint was that the floors were just filthy. We all remove our shoes at our homes, so we did the same but my feet got dirty immediately. We adjusted and because of our response to the door lock, we kept quiet about the floors. I think for the price, the unit should have been clean. We were there 3 nights but we had to go get more towels, more toilet paper and more coffee. Just not my level of cleanliness or service.
- Rodney (6/5): - Great place to relax and watch Silver Lake.
- Kevin (8/5): - We spent 4 nights at the Anchorage and enjoyed our stay. The hotel was neat and tidy. Our room was rather plain but it appeared each room was slightly different and interesting per room variations. However being at the end of the third floor gave us access to a seating area on the balcony with awesome views of the harbor. Also not to be missed was a visit to the pool which has a very unique location in front of the hotel just about in the harbor. 4 stars, not 5, only because the room was plain and bathroom needed a refresh. Great convenient place to stay, especially for pets.
- kelly (10/5): - Excellent hotel and awesome employees
- Randall (8/5): - Convenient to shops and ferry .
- Loria (8/5): - It was in a great location. The view from the Inn was spectacular. The room was adequately cleaned (I did see a few things.). Very comfortable. I would stay there again.
- Roselyne (8/5): - Everything was good -
- Shannon (10/5): - Always one of our favorites when we visit yearly.
- ALISON (10/5): - Great property, and wonderful location. Very convenient to restaurants, golf cart rental and even an ice cream shop. The pool has the best harbor view! We will be back - great hotel!
- Sarah (10/5): - Arrived late, key was left for me
- Kevin (10/5): - The rooms have recently been renovated and is very clean and nice. The only downside was we had to evacuate due to Hurricane Erin, so we were on Ocracoke for less than 24 hours.
- Ashley (10/5): - Great place
- Joanna (10/5): - Wonderful hotel, beautiful views over the marina.
Definitely will come back again.
- claudia (8/5): - Needs remodeled.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great location and views - The people there were very nice. The views of the water were beautiful and you could see the lighthouse which was cool. The location was amazing. The ice machine was great a d we liked that the room came with a fridge and microwave.
The negatives:
The elevator was very slow and hot.
Our sheets had a stain on them
The shower went from hot to cold a lot but the water pressure was good.
The bed was very hard and pillows very soft.
- Molly (8/5): - Nice pool on the marina. Comfortable bed. Bathroom rundown & fridge didn't work
- Stephen (10/5): - Nice rooms with outside seating looking out accross the marina and harbor. Great seafood resturant accross the street at marina. Lighthouse visable accross the harbor from rooms. The resturant and marina accross the street is owned by the owners of the Inn.
- Wanda (6/5): - On arrival, expected available parking. There was none as golf carts had taken extra spaces as free parking. Desk clerk had no idea what to tell us and one other person who also couldn't find parking. Office is small, cluttered, ancient looking. Room key (old fashioned kind) wouldn't work. Had to get clerk to show us how to hold and work the knob to get keys to work. Room was clean, bathroom had been updated and was fine. Water pressure was great. Beds were very comfortable and clean. But, we were told (by sign) AC had to be set at 66 and door was not to be left open. We are seniors, we were freezing! We thought, ok, just a few degrees higher would be ok. Nope, they meant 66!! When we returned from dinner, floor throughout was wet. We returned AC to 66 and used the towels to dry the floor. No one in office after about 9 pm. Yes, our fault but we had to spend time in room with sweaters on or under the bedcovers. Parking did become available as restaurants closed and diners left. Hotel is in excellent location near ferry terminal and easy walking distance to Village shops/restaurants. We liked room location on end first floor close to our car. Both desk clerks were friendly and very helpful (as much as possible). Hate to say, but overall we probably wouldn't stay here again.
- Constance (10/5): - I like the pet friendly grassy area in back behind elevator area in side yard, with baggie-poo stand (though I always bring my own) and a trash bin handy. Staff very nice and friendly. Beds and mattresses excellent. My room key was a bit rusty and troublesome, but I worked everytime once I got used to it. All good. Will recommend it.
- Aspicia (8/5): Great place to stay - The a/c in this room was not nearly as good as the last room we booked. Everything else was great, and I would still recommend! Walkable! Internet access good. Nice view and seating outside the rooms.
- Ted (6/5): - TV remote did not work. Nobody in lobby/office to try to correct..... check in person was nice but never ask for id or anything to confirm I was me
- Rozana (10/5): - Love the Harbor View and right on the Marina
- Barbara (10/5): Amazing vacation - Our stay was absolutely amazing!!! Although it didn’t start out great as we got up the very first morning of our stay to a flat tire! But people came from everywhere to offer help. One of the employees even called himself to where we were told to get our tire fixed. Everyone was amazing and friendly and so very willing to help. The hotel was beautiful perfect location and had everything you may need. Would without a doubt stay there again!!!!!! Loved it!!!!
- Amanda (8/5): - The rooms were freshly painted and updated however there was rust flaking from the bathtub which should have been replaced with the updates and the room was crowded with the table and chairs in the room. Overall, I would stay here again if only staying for a day or 2. Anything more than that I would need something bigger. Pool was fantastic. Parking was rough with all the golf carts parking there for dinner at smacNally’s.
- James Ryan (10/5): - Wonderful view! Convenient location to dining and ferry!
- Nina (10/5): - It was great! People were so friendly and rooms clean.
- Deb (6/5): - Good view, convenient and walkable. Parking is not easy because they share it with a restaurant and marina. Bathrooms need updating. The staff is friendly and kind.
- Troy (10/5): - Everything was great
- Tracy (8/5): - Room was clean, bed was comfortable, hotel was out dated with some upgrades, but was fine for the time we spent there
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The door was swollen from humidity and you had to hip-check the door to get it to open. What I failed to realize was that meant the door could not be opened from inside the room ...a serious fire hazard. They did fix the door before I returned to the room later in the day.
- Tony (10/5): - This has a good view of Silver lake harbor. Good accommodation. The washrooms doesn't have air exhaust was the only concern.
- Aspicia (10/5): My favorite - It was perfect! Finally, they have comfortable beds and cool room - great a/c! Love the pool access and access to SmacNalley’s right across the street! My favorite place to stay! Folks in the office were very friendly and nice!
- John (8/5): Soaking wet floors but nice location. - The location was excellent within walking distance of everything. Our room AC system was not working correctly and did not discharge the condensate out of the room resulting in a soaking wet floor. Front desk disagreed and said we must have set the thermostat below 70 degrees when we had it set for 74. Our room door was extremely hard to open as it was swelled tight - had to punch it each time as it would not open with a push.
- Thomas (8/5): - Place was good but parking is disorderly due to all the golf carts that park which ever way they want. Close to a lot of places to walk to.
- Vicky (2/5): - Reserved a room for 1 night. It was a pic of a king, handicapped bathroom, harbor view. Got charged extra for the bathroom. My husband is an amputee and has to use a walker to walk. Definitely didn't get a handicapped bathroom so he couldn't get in there. The door was swollen and i had to get help opening the door every time. When we checked out, i told the lady in the office. She said i should have told them. Why? No vacancy so that would of been a waste. They've lost our business!!!
- William (8/5): - Parking was somtimes hard finding a spot even whit golfcart
- Frank (10/5): - Property is on a busy street because it is a main thoroughfare fare to the ferry to swan and cedar island. Place is convenient and walking distance to several restaurants and docks. The lights on the passage way are really bright and no way to
darken the room because of the curtains. They are very pet friendly.
- William (10/5): - Nice hotel. Enjoyed staying there!!
- MELVIN (6/5): - Did not like that we didn't have a phone to call and complain about the coffee maker
- Jerry (10/5): - We love staying here and have for years. They are very nice and accommodating.
- Natalia (10/5): - Clean, comfortable rooms with a beautiful view and perfect location. Walking distance from everything. The front desk staff were super friendly! Would definitely stay here again!
- Dennis (4/5): - We paid a premium for a "harbor view" room. Our "harbor view" from our ground level room was of a white fence surrounding the hotel's pool. The room was located in a high traffic area with several groups congregating outside. The door had expanded due to humidity. It had to be opened by a process of coordinating a turn of the key with a health shoulder shove on the door. Only if coordinated successfully could key be turned and the door shoved open. We paid way too much for this and won't use this service again.
- John (10/5): - Nice place, great staff.
- Regina T (8/5): - What a wonderful respite! Walking distance to anything( including ice cream and fudge shop!) safe and friendly location, beautiful view- elevator was a little uncooperative at times and we decided to take the stairs most of the time. No breakfast available but the choices down the road a short distance were excellent!
- Joe (10/5): - Good place to stay, room was nice
Convenience to walking all over the island
- Paul (10/5): - T
- Ruth (8/5): - A wonderful place to stay, up dated, awesome views. Only problem: couldn't get the coffee maker to work until one of the cleaning ladies came in, plugged it into a different outlet ( which I had tried, too) and it worked!
- Suzi (10/5): - Great location! Easy check in!
- Katherine (10/5): - Great location, clean, friendly
- Susan (10/5): - Room was clean with amazing view of the harbor. Good location on the island. Used our bikes to get around most of the time. Golf carts available. Pool was clean & refreshing. Convenient Smacnally’s restaurant/marina across the street.
- Mary L (10/5): - We enjoyed the convince of the location and check on. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We enjoyed the view of the water from our room!
- Sarah (8/5): - Nice room, amazing views of the harbor. We especially liked the deck chairs on the porch looking over the bay. Ice machine was close by, elevator was slow but convenient. We arrived late so the front office was closed, but they left our key out for us. Seemed like there was plenty of parking, and several good restaurants within easy walking distance. Close to the ferry pier for our 7:30am departure.
- Barbara (8/5): - Wonderful staff
- Anita (10/5): - Great place to stay. Everything can be walked to, or you can rent a golf cart.
- Randi (8/5): - The location was great. It was across from the marina and there were lots of dining and shopping options within walking distance. The room was fine. The elevator never did work for us. You're definitely paying for the location as the room was expensive for what it was.
- Sabrina (8/5): Great hotel - Very good location. Decent price. Beautiful views. Very clean. Kind of older building but well maintained. Would book again
- lori (10/5): - Great service, updated rooms and perfect location. Always very clean!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hotel is being remodeled and updated. Although in process rooms are very nice and bed comfortable
- Robin (10/5): - It’s Ocracoke Island. It’s awesome
- Don (10/5): - Great
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay - Fantastic location and view and rooms were clean and comfy - and pet-friendly =)
Thank you for a great stay!
- Joseph (10/5): - please add microwaves for each room
- Denise (8/5): Would stay again - Great location, goid place, wonderful view from balcony. Room for improvement in that no internet, bathroom door did not latch, no freezer section in fridge, no hair conditioner (just shampoo)). Little annoyances.
- Dave and Marlene (6/5): - Beautiful sunset
- Jennifer (10/5): - Booked last minute and easily found keys for my room. Extremely clean, beds are comfortable. Great location with nice view of the harbor. Nice to wake up to the sound of the ferries leaving the harbor. Off season rates are very reasonable for the stay.
- Wendi (8/5): - Booked our room at the last minute on our way over on the ferry. It was clean but very out dated. Bed was comfortable and it was close to shops and restaurants. Beautiful view of the harbor!
- ROBERTSEN (10/5): - Cozy and quaint. Close to shops and restaurants. We went in off season, so not much was open, but the price was right and it was more than worth it.
- Chris (10/5): - No problem
- William (8/5): Anchorage - The staff was helpful. The room we booked had a malfunctioning TV. They quickly helped us change rooms where all was fine.
- Richard (10/5): - Hotel was nice option for traveling with pets.
- Victoria (6/5): - Yeah, I get that this is the “off season” but pulling up after dark to a vacant hotel where my room key was left in an envelope outside the office door with my name on it seemed a little unsafe.
There was only an “emergency number” included in the instructions. It would have been nice to be able to ask for an extra blanket and another pillow.
Other than those two things the room was a great value. The fixtures seem dated and worn but there were signs of improvements underway.
- Joe (8/5): - Absurdly thin walls, I could hear people talking under me and the people above me had kids running around at 2am it was so loud, i was there for work but if I was vacationing I would have really been upset. Slept with earplugs in still woke up several times to loud noises
- Tamothy (10/5): - People were very pleasant and extremely welcoming and helpful.
- Jack (10/5): - The room was clean with nice view of the harbor. The staff were helpful.
Gravel parking lot.
- anthony (6/5): - location is certainly convenient to the ferry, and right on the main drag. Access is easy, parking lot was full, but then so was the motel. The inhouse wifi signal was weak and my phone actually did a better job just standing out in the hallway. Facility is old but the room interior was spic and span. I'd stay there again.
- Eric (2/5): - TV is unwatchable ! All channels like 20 are so blurry and broken cant watch anything! I was at office and another guest complaining about same thing ! Manager didnt
care about anything ! Room was nasty ! smelled like wet dogs and bathroom cleaner !.Didnt say it was pet hotel . Couldn't stand to stay in room ! told manager could not not stay ! He could care less ! Said it had view ! Had a view of stairs an ice machine !! Called twice today , will not even return call !! DO NOT STAY AT THIS TERRIBLE PLACE !!!!!!!!!
- Jennifer (10/5): - This hotel directly overlooks the harbor, the view is gorgeous! They are also pet friendly. I wont stay anywhere else!
- Paul (2/5): - The tv in the room doesnt work and no one answers the phone to help
- Lisa (6/5): - Very convenient location. Room was really clean but very dated and the bed was uncomfortable.
- Melissa (10/5): - Will be back
- Elizabeth (6/5): - Parking could have been better. A lot of golf carts and they took up more than 1 parking place, so it made parking a struggle .
We had no internet and no cable tv. Internet would not connect no matter what we did and tv kept saying no signal. Very disappointed.
- Shawn (10/5): - Convenient
