Guest Reviews
- Donna (10/5): -
- 153darrenf (10/5): Very friendly staff - Can’t be faulted on a beautiful stay
- Michelle (9/5): Convenient to train yet on a quiet country lane! - Historic house turned hotel from the early 1800s. It is well located on a quiet, leafy lane yet only 2 min walk to the train station for easy access to London. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The pub is a fun place for a pint and the restaurant has a variety of options for vegetarians and non-veg meals. The breakfast was very good with nice espresso selections and vegetarian or regular full English options available. The mattress was more firm than we prefer.
- askpropt (10/5): Great stay - Stayed over whilst at a party in the pub, the room was great along with the facilities. Will return hopefully at some point.
- Caolan (9/5): -
- Stephanie (8/5): Hand and Spear close to Weybridge train station. - The location is perfect for us.
The food is really nice.
Comfortable room.
Lovely staff. It is a little pricey but I think prices in the area generally are.
- Teresa (8/5): -
- carolmJ1893GE (10/5): 5th Visit - Another lovely visit to the Hand and Spear.
- Tracey (10/5): Excellent stay would highly recommend - The location is beautiful as are the rooms and the Sunday roast, staff are very friendly, excellent level of service nothing was too much trouble, would stay again and highly recommend
- Jane (9/5): A lovely hotel. Would recommend - We didn't have any food at the hotel and when we returned in the evening the bar was very busy so we didn't have a drink. Instead we went back to our room to enjoy the comfort. Also considering it was so busy in the pub we didn't experience any noise disruption.
One of the best things was we were able to check in early as I suspect the hotel wasn't too busy.
It really is a lovely hotel and close to god transport links. We were lucky to get a good price so will stay again if the price is right We didn't see many staff but the ones we did were polite. I was asked to pay another £50 which they would hold. I would have liked them to explain why rather than me having to ask. It was for the mini bar in the room.
They also didn't ask if we wanted breakfast the next day and there was no information in the room about times etc. Well if there was we didn't see it. As it happens we didn't need breakfast but someone else might have so some information would have been welcome.
- billydeanm (2/5): Premium prices, poor service - We chose this venue for what should have been a meaningful catch-up. I haven’t seen my uncle in years, and it took a lot for him to come out, so we expected a welcoming and professional environment.
At £7.65 for a pint of Guinness, you are clearly positioning yourselves as a premium establishment. There is nothing wrong with that — if the service matches the pricing. On this occasion, it did not.
We were seated on a banquette directly alongside the bar. When we asked for additional drinks, the barmaid was dismissive and stated she “had to take the order at the bar,” despite QR codes being present on the tables for ordering food and drinks.
The inconsistency was confusing, and the manner in which it was delivered felt abrupt and unwilling.
Because of how it was handled, despite having mobility issues — i got up and walked to the bar to place the order myself.
The final interaction was equally disappointing. I handed cash directly to the barmaid. When returning my change, she attempted to drop it on the bar rather than place it back into my hand. I had to position my hand underneath hers to receive it properly. It may seem small, but that gesture spoke volumes.
I have worked in hospitality for many years, including high-end venues, so I understand the pressures of service. Basic courtesy, consistency and professionalism are not optional — they are fundamental.
This experience felt pretentious rather than premium.
I won’t be returning.
- Stolworthy (9/5): - The staff were fantastic, particularly Ryan and Jess. It was maybe a little overpriced as breakfast wasn't included.
- Lorraine (10/5): Excellent - Room was beautiful, Staff were more than helpful and breakfast was amazing everything was great
- Darcie (10/5): Short but sweet - The member of staff that served us was so kind and attentive, she was there alllll night and first thing for breakfast The room was slightly dirty, a bit dusty and the shower wasn’t clean, we didn’t really mind but there definitely is people who will mind
- Mary Penelope (8/5): - The staff were extremely helpful and courteous.
Breakfast on Sunday morning was the best we had had for a long time !
- Gail (7/5): - Location good for our tennis tournament- we didn’t have breakfast- just playing so not convienient. A bit noisy but understandable in a pub.
- Carole (8/5): Sotty, the Manager, could not have been more welcoming or more helpful -
- Maria-Josep (9/5): -
- Mark (10/5): Perfect base. Lovely room and reasonably priced. Would definitely stay again - Spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated room. Used as base for getting the train to London. Perfect location. Great pub with great food too Can’t fault it
- alisoncO7676ZH (10/5): Great pub - Difficult weekend because of the bad weather. Room was spacious shower room vast. New person taking over and as a local is invested in improving
- Peter (8/5): -
- mariondQ6709BQ (8/5): A night away together. - The staff were really happy and friendly. Check-in and out were both quick and easy. Our room was spotless and came equipped with tea and coffee (Nespresso) making. A bottle of tap water and 2 real glasses were also out.
I chose the full vegetarian breakfast option which was freshly cooked and delicious.
- Penny (8/5): Convienently situated short walk Weybridge main line station - Staff really friendly, thank you
- susie (3/5): - Ok so I tried to contact the hotel the day before with questions I stated calling at 9 left x3 messages zero response Emailed .. nothing g until day of my stay Made me co corned I may not have a booking I did not j ie the area and a long drive so I wanted to check taxis etc Lights hanging off wall in bathroom meaning too dark to get ready
Intense ticking sound constant 24/7 from the bathroom like Japanese torture
Scruffy tired and clearly no issues ever reported by chambermaids I paid full amount t and when asked about bc everything told we are busy it’s Xmas and again sorry just taken over the place not had a chance to find out issues with rooms WELLDONT RENT Them out! I still paid 🤷♂️ would not stay again
- Chris (9/5): -
- David (9/5): Sumer convenient location good room and excellent service. - Location close to the station (business in London). Excellent staff. Room did not appear to have an opening window, I suspect very stuffy in summer.
- Mari-Helen Mille (9/5): -
- nadinehR1925ZN (8/5): Fabulous stay - Lovely room, superb breakfast, great atmosphere in the bar. A little on the expensive side but well worth the extra money.
- juliesB5171MM (6/5): Slow service - luke warm food! - Very disappointing! Been here twice this year with these friends who travel from Croydon, Oxford and Cranleigh to meet us. This time it was a very different experience. Drinks took forever, food was very slow and when it finally arrived it was luke warm! We are not rude people but having complained to the restaurant manager (who I have to say was passive aggressive) then the General Manager who blamed the young staff and then said the restaurant manager would get a disciplinary!). Not really what we wanted to hear to be honest. Then offered to recook the food. To be honest having waited an hour between starters and main meal didnt want to risk waiting another hour! I really am not sure how they will cope with the Xmas meals. The waiter was lovely just a shame he didnt have the team to back him up. We won't be back unfortunately 😔.
- powerje75 (10/5): Great value, high quality short stay - Perfect location for my business meeting at Mercedes World (Brooklands) - I walked it in under 15mins.
The hotel is charming and characterful, the service was brilliant (loads of staff, special mention to Sotty).
I only ate breakfast there but it was exceptional. Cooked to order and everything was cooked to perfection, even the black pudding!
- Louise (9/5): -
- Nicholas (7/5): Perfectly adequate for our one night stay near Brooklands - Lovely old building very near to Brooklands Facilities were a bit “basic”
- Jane (4/5): wouldn’t stay again. - the decor. staff was friendly. handy location for eating out. room wasn’t clean. little details like bin not empty. there was previous occupiers face cream left. tissue on the floor. dusty.
the bear minimum we want from a hotel room is for it to be comfy and clean. we were treating ourselves to something nicer than a travel lodge… but at least that would have been clean!
- scott (8/5): Great location and service although expensive and limited food offer - The location the rooms the staff Room was beautiful but smelt of damp also the venue and food offer breakfast was amazing but dinner limited and drinks expensive
- DAVEW158 (10/5): Excellent location, beautiful accommodation - Lovely stay, accommodation lovely clean everything you needed, staff very helpful nothing to much trouble.
Food was lovely, would highly recommended. Lovely location, very quiet but convenient location to many places.
- Richard (7/5): Good experience - Traditional
- JBinengland (10/5): Excellent Lunch - We stayed there recently and had a lovely time. I wanted to add that our
Sunday Lunch was very good and Ryan & Melissa, our servers were friendly and efficient.
- Mark (6/5): - lovely looking pub, check in was not over friendly with very little by way of welcome or instruction. Room at first glance was lovely but lots of small issues with either bits broken or poor cleanliness. Tv has lead dangling from it and does not connect.
- Angela (5/5): Typisch britisch - Das Badezimmer war sehr gut wie auch das Internet. Relativ Sauber Zuviel unnötiger Kram im Zimmer. Hintereingang zur Rezeption ist kleine und und ungepflegt.
- tinkerbell742016 (10/5): Especially would like to thank Sotty for his over and above helpfulness and thoughtfullness on many occasions. - Perfect location for us. Lovely greeting on arrival and the room we had requested was waiting for us. Really well appointed, designed and imaginative retro room. Thoughtful home baked brownies. Excellent temperature controls. Quite dark for ladies applying makeup but the bathroom swivel mirror is well lit. The bathroom was a delight with a large Victorian claw foot bath to try as well as the modern shower. Maybe a hotel guest book would be a good addition. Thought the accommodation was good value.
- Nicolas (10/5): -
- Paul (9/5): -
- Rory (9/5): Lovely peaceful place in super convenient location - Room was great, staff helpful, food great and really near stations for connections into London All good
- Maxine (6/5): Disappointing and neglected! - I’ve stayed here a few times, but sadly it feels increasingly neglected and a little tired. My room was very dusty, and both the toilet and shower tray hadn’t been properly cleaned. The lady on reception was helpful and gave it a quick clean as no other rooms were available, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, noise from guests in the garden area (which my room overlooked) went on past 12:30am, making it hard to get any rest.
I don’t usually write negative reviews, but as someone who stays in the area weekly, I’ve found other hotels to be a much better option.
- Sarah (9/5): -
- Gast_hw (10/5): A treasure of friendliness and kindness just a few steps away from the train - I was surprised to find the hotel really as near to the train station as I had expected – it all felt wonderfully safe for me as a single traveller. The staff were extremely friendly without exception, everyone always had a smile for me and was full of kindness and warm-hearted humour. The room was spacious and bright, and equipped with lots of very tasty tea and an honesty bar with lots of lovely bits and pieces for the occasional sweet or savoury nibble. Even the little booklet with information about the hotel and things to see and do in the area was fun to read.
The hotel is full of character, some places modern, some as if time had stood still and you were transported to cosier times. The staircase was wonderfully creaky and comfortably carpeted, the wallpaper rich, and the rooms easy to get to and safe. The curtains really darkened the room 100%, and the bed was equipped with plenty of cushions – great for reading in bed, sleeping and waking up relaxed! When I opened the curtains, the sunlight poured through the large window wall, and it was all just heavenly.
The breakfast times were generous, from very early until 11 o’clock. The choice was wide, and I thoroughly enjoyed everything at my own table, with plenty of space to start the day at my own pace. Dinner in the pub was very tasty and plentiful, the prices all reasonable for both food and drinks, and I was welcomed very warmly. The pub was always well visited in the evenings and full of laughter and conversation, which I enjoyed from my single table. I always found just the right amount of entertainment or quiet, whatever I wished for. Help, if needed, was always near, and there was always a good, lighthearted spirit to feel throughout.
This hotel isn’t for those who expect flawless polish or shiny perfection, but for those who love a place with soul. I would highly recommend this warm-hearted hotel. Was genuinely a bit sad I had to go.
- Sylvia (9/5): Ame to visit a friend and it was nice to come back to my lovely room of an evening - Very roomy and cosy furnishings A little away from nearby shops. When you don’t drive
- lindafrance2018 (6/5): Overall we enjoyed our stay, but not some of the food - Overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel we were there for 3 nights. Our room was in a little annex on the ground floor near the car park. The room itself nice, and the bathroom was lovely with a roll top bath and big walk in shower. The room was supplied with a small coffee machine which used pods, there was no pods, or milk in the room when we arrived They were never replaced and we would need to go and ask for a couple every day. We only ate their one evening and that was very disappointing. We had scallops & Linguine. When it eventually arrived after over half an hour, the plate was cold and there was very little linguine, but masses of oil. She was obviously busy and the left very quickly. We were the only ones in that area. Ages later when a member of staff came to collect the plates, we told her about our concern. The member of staff said she would speak to her manager. We ordered 2 deserts as we were still very hungry. The deserts were fine. They eventually didn't charge us for the deserts. On our last day there we decided to risk breakfast there, which I have to say was nice. The staff were friendly enough.
- Janice (6/5): Needs attention to detail in some areas. - Close proximity to station for walking with luggage. Beds were comfy although duvets and pillows were lumpy and too warm for summer. The breakfast buffet table was not as good as a previous visit 2 years ago. There were no serving spoons for granola on table. Table looked unwelcoming with limited range of pastries in a closed wooden box. We were the only guests at breakfast. Outdoor areas such as tables and chairs and rooms were looking tired especially paintwork. The sink cold tap was warm. Some things were loose like toilet flush. Sink looked stained and toilet.
- Tes (7/5): Comfortable and friendly - The towels not being changed and the room cleaned was disappointing. I’d made the bed but had expected the towels to be changed and the room checked. Disappointing Location and the staff were lovely
- vickyjH7858PX (10/5): Perfect spot for a two night break to explore the area - We had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay for two nights. Comfortable and attractive room, great pub food which we were able to enjoy in the garden and superb breakfast at the very respectable time of 11.00 ! The staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive.
- David (8/5): -
- Joseph (6/5): Needs updating - Room 6 smelt damp and frankly the shower base had a good inch of mould around the edges.
Shame really as it was my third time staying at the hotel
- Scenic52628691828 (10/5): Great overnight stay - An excellent overnight stay at the Hand and Spear. The welcome was warm and friendly, the room was spacious and tastefully presented, everywhere was clean and fresh. The bar area is divided into areas representing the original use of the original house which gives it interest and character. The Sunday dinner was absolutely yummy and just what we wanted.
- Inspire58393414702 (10/5): Wonderful! Don’t miss out! - We stayed here in May 2025 and rented 3 rooms. We arrived in the morning since our flight from the US was early. They were very accommodating and let us store our luggage until we were able to check in. The rooms were very cozy and each one unique. We didn’t know it at the time, but this was our favorite place on our 3 week Europe trip. The beds were super comfortable and the rooms had all the extra details that make a memorable stay. Showers were superb with great water pressure and wonderful bath products included. There were snack baskets provided and a Nespresso machine, too. The Inn itself is in a great location, right next to the train station and walking distance of Weybridge sites. If you want a cozy atmosphere with the convenience of a great restaurant and pub right on the property, you probably could not find a friendlier staff or more hospitable place! I won’t come back to Weybridge unless I can stay here.
- Roam10628667545 (4/5): Please do better - It pains me to write this review but I have to be honest in my recent experience during a short stay here. I found the bedroom to be a good size and the bathroom too, however, the carpet was dirty, the pictures in the room dusty, and it had a smell of wet-dog. Unfortunately it didn't end there, the bed was lumpy along with the duvet and pillows. I hope that this review will help in addressing the matters that I have mentioned. Also I found the outside around to what I assumed to be the kitchen was strewn with rubbish everywhere which is has an easy solution to it. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.
- E (8/5): Close, but no cigar - Rooms, though tastefully decorated, are a little tired. Very mouldy silicone in shower tray and clearly tea cups washed in sink rather than taken to be run through dishwasher. Reception area is very grotty and accessed from outside next to kitchen/bin store! Just small things missing like coffee machine, but no pods. Garden maintenence guy blowing leaves at 6am every morning also painful!! But... staff are friendly and location vibrant. Could be so good!!
- N9913ULjuliew (6/5): Good bits but more bad - I don’t like leaving negative reviews so I will start by saying that the food we had, evening meal and breakfast, was absolutely first class. The location for our trip was also great. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Now for the bad bits. Rooms are definitely not boutique and are tired. Rooms are nothing like the pictures portray. There were crisps on carpet, everywhere was full of dust, shower tray was filthy and shower seal needed a good bleaching. Front of toilet pan was dirty. There were coffee pods in the machine from previous guests. Room was poorly lit and bathroom was even worse. There was a strong smell of sewerage in bathroom and I didn’t hear a fan working at all. The room felt grubby but the sheets and towels were very clean. I would not recommend staying here. I expected far more for the money we paid.
- 26garetho (6/5): Disappointed on second visit - Second visit after a good first one a couple of years back...overall ok...staff pleasant and engaging but ...food was very average and breakfast pretty poor ..got the impression that because so few overnight guests were in that no real effort had been made. Room ok...clean but shower area needs attention ...new sealant etc and the place overall needs a tidy up...and a bit of investment..not what I'd call a smart pub and we won't return.
- Michelle (8/5): - Friendly staff, lovely food and a spacious room. Lots of parking. Good stay all round.
- Graham (8/5): -
- LucyLok99 (8/5): A comfortable stay in an atmospheric pub. - A pleasant stay being the result of friendly and accommodating staff. The room was comfortable and imaginatively decorated. There were some maintenance issues with the room which were reported and could be easily rectified. Some noise from the lively bar below percolated into our room, but stopped at a reasonable hour.
- Nicola (6/5): - Proximity to train station very useful
Staff welcoming Had to ask to swap rooms due to dirty shower plug - full of hair and dirty toiler.
Second room - carpet needed vacuuming - nuts on floor.
Second day breakfast service quite slow
Manager very kindly did not charge for second day breakfasts.
- Harvey (9/5): Very nice clean spacious room. Pleasant staff. Would definitely return to stay here. -
- PeterS8589 (10/5): An amazing very traditional, truly English pub with superb food and super comfy rooms!amaroomsb. - An amazing very traditional, truly English pub with superb food and rooms. Just could not fault anything about the roooms, the food or the service. A real treat to have been able to find this real and unique gem and would not hesitate to go back!
- Burton (7/5): In need of attention all over hotel, but near to our venue, so served a purpose Pricey !!! - Room needed some attention - stained toilet bowl, toilet seat broken, toilet coming away from the wall, safety deposit box not working in any room !!! Was told that the engineer could not fix them in time for our stay.
Outside lights left on all night so our room was very bright from light around curtains.
In need of TLC all over hotel ! Bathrooms in need of attention - toilet bowl stained - coming away from wall, lid broken, safety deposit boxes not working in any room.
Parking was very limited during weekends so if you moved a vehicle, you were not able to get a space, even though you were a resident !!
- Karen (4/5): Not my choice of location, found by a friend. Poor quality for price. - Orange juice jug not topped up. No avocado, which I chose for breakfast. Limited choice of cereals and no fresh fruit. Didn’t like the layout of garden with its Astro turf. Could be prettier. No second bath towel in our twin room.
- Christopher (7/5): Really pleasant and relaxing - good food. - It’s quirky features. Spacious. Well stocked mini-bar, reasonably priced. Weybridge railway station just a 3 min walk. Trains into London Waterloo - well connected. Nothing really - just be advised this is a public house so some rooms overlook the beer garden - so some chatter and laughter - but never excessive. Mostly quiet from 1030pm - so no real worries.
- W986WNjohnc (8/5): Visit for a family 50th party - Hotel room very good except for one problem the area around shower was slightly dirty not reported
Staff. Very good
Food. Very good
Dealing with problems ( youngs )had a problem with my £50 mini bar despoil excellent service problem with my bank
- Ashley (8/5): Needs a cleaner bathroom - Our bathroom was a little dirty. Black water stains around the top of the toilet bowl and a thick layer of dust on the magnified mirror.
- Helen (7/5): Pleasant hotel in convenient location with friendly and helpful staff. - Check in was easy and reception staff were absolutely brilliant. Really smiley and happy, helpful, friendly, welcoming and chatty. Night porter also very helpful and friendly. Absolute asset to the hotel. The air con in room was effective and very welcome on an extremely hot day and after a sticky journey.
We had dinner and breakfast and the food was really well presented and tasty.
Water pressure in the shower was good. Breakfast was disappointing with only one pastry left at 9.30 am and not topped up, no orange juice at 9.30 am and not replenished, a couple of menu items not available. Considering it was Sunday and breakfast went on for at least another hour and not many guests, this wasn't great. Staff seemed under pressure but were still very smiley, friendly and professional.
Lovely snack selection in room but high prices so didn't have anything.
Room decor was a bit tired in places and bathroom was a bit tatty with dirty grout, a partially broken toilet flush and damaged shower seal. Overall, this didn't make it feel particularly luxurious, but wouldn't take much to make it better.
- Jacqueline (8/5): Very enjoyable and comfortable - The staff were helpful and friendly and I think I had the best room, spacious and comfy room I was disappointed for what we paid that there were no complementary snacks or biscuits included.
- Iain (9/5): Lovely place. - Lovely place. Very close to the station. Very helpful and friendly staff. Great food. Not much. Tv was a bit tricky.
- nottageja (10/5): Quirky accommodation in great pub - Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Breakfast is very good with great choice of cooked… continental a little uninspiring. Some of the decor a little tired in the bedrooms and the bathroom. Nice touch of fully stocked mini bar and good in room coffee and tea.
- CMS06 (4/5): Very disappointed - Remembering that we paid £542 for 3 night B & B,
I have to say it was terrible value for money.
First I must point out that the bed & bedding was really good, with top quality bedding.. also the bathroom & shower were very nicely fitted out.. the shower was amazing.
All this counts for nothing, with state of the bathroom from a cleaning point of view, the edges around the shower tray had Years of solid grim.. never been properly cleaned..
The breakfast, oh dear, it was as basic as basic could be .. very limited choice.. if you don’t want a cooked breakfast then it was terrible. The jar of cereal was way out of date judging by the stale taste, the bread for toasting was the same. No fruit available although it was listed.. at the end of this we decided to go out for breakfast that first morning and next two mornings went out also.. some really good options available nearby.
Summary, find somewhere else.
- Lee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julia (10/5): Great place to stay - Excellent place to stay - very helpful staff and live the way it’s decorated
- Elaine (4/5): Very overpriced and inexperienced staff. - The location The room needed a good clean. Window ledges, coffee machine both very dusty. Mould in the shower, no drain cover in the shower also shower doors not been cleaned for don’t know how long.
Mould in the room fridge, dirty cups and spoon.
No price list in room for fridge.
Breakfast very poor ( cooked breakfast looked good ) Had to ask for fresh fruit which was an option on the menu also yoghurts ran out and poor selection of cereal.
No breakdown receipt upon checkout. Tried to charge for dinners we had not had also mix up over breakfast charges.
- Audrey (10/5): Exceptional - Superb staff , food and location. Will stay again
- Nicola (9/5): Superb - Air conditioning, comfy bed, minibar and bathroom. Food was very good
- barton20182018 (10/5): Ideally suited us and our dog. - We only stayed for 2 nights B & B with our dog so did not use all the hotel's facilities but for those we used the staff were friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable and the cooked breakfast was excellent.
- Rachel (8/5): Lovely pub with rooms, perfect location for the station - Right next to the train station, food was lovely and the staff were all very friendly and helpful Lack of transparency regarding in room refreshment prices, milk and coffee not replenished for 2nd morning. Pub garden needed a good spring clean!
- Debbie (8/5): Very good -
- Jacquie (4/5): Disappointing - Poor standard of upkeep! Tatty, tiny shower room.
- laurenbK9119PG (10/5): Friendly staff, comfy bedrooms! - We stayed for a night and it was perfect for us. Lovely welcoming staff on arrival, comfy bedrooms and tasty breakfast in the morning! Couldn’t fault it, we’d stay again. Bonus was the location was only a 10 minute walk from the town centre (via a forest off road walkway) which felt peaceful and private. Surprisingly quiet for a room above a bar and restaurant.
- Lauren (10/5): Enjoyable stay, would recommend! - Super friendly staff, receptionist was very helpful. Lovely decorated rooms and tasty breakfast! We enjoyed the forest walk into town, only 10 mins down the road to enjoy the park and shops. Nice dark rooms and air conditioned rooms were a bonus in the summer heat! Couldn’t fault it.
- Charles (7/5): GOOD HANDY PLACE FOR VISIT TO WEYBRIDGE. CONVENIENTLY NEAR TO STATION - ALL GOOD, ECCENTRIC ROOM STAFF TOO STRETCHED WHICH EFFECTS SERVICE
- tedcJ9430DS (10/5): Hand and spear great place to stat - The hand and spear was wonderful, the staff were attentive and did everything to make our stay great. Food was brilliant and well worth the cost.
- Sean (7/5): Good - Location Smelt of dogs poor service breakfast poor at best short staffed
- Jacobs (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location close to station, welcoming rooms and very friendly staff We could only stay 1 night
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional - Roast dinner
- Andrew (7/5): Pleasant albeit fleeting - staff, accommodating, helpful TV didn't work, dusty room including the team making facilities/cups
- Geraldine (3/5): Had high hopes but was disappointed. - • The shower was powerful and hot.
• The decor was nice.
• Lovely soft towels.
• Bed linen was fresh and clean.
• Heating worked quickly. • We arrived to an infestation of mosquitoes that my husband spent most of the evening trying to catch.
• The “honesty” bar made no sense as we were charged a deposit of £50 on arrival - was not fully stocked.
• Had expected a bath as “bathroom” is advertised rather than shower room.
• The mattress was very hard and we both woke up with sore backs.
• Dust/cobwebs.
• Toothpaste marks in the bathroom.
• TV automatically went to the wrong input when turned on.
• Stains on curtains.
• Broken, dirty TV remote.
• No Netflix or ability to stream films.
• Found an old pill packet under the bed.
• Had mentioned we were staying for a special occasion, would have been nice to have this acknowledged with a little note or something.
- Highlife89 (10/5): Would recommend and would stay again! - The boutique rooms really feel like a treat. Little touches like a radio, ample towels, a room safe, USB charging points, and check out at 12pm all go towards a relaxing, home from home stay. Plenty of drinks choice in the rooms and appreciate the bottled milk kept in the fridge.
Breakfast was prepared to order and there was lots to choose from. We ate there for dinner one evening too, and had no complaints regarding the quality of food. Excellent selection of beverages!
Difficult to single out a member of staff as they were all friendly and responsive, but Jess was a pleasure and it felt like she cared personally that we had an enjoyable stay. Thank you to everyone!

- B9660QOjonathanm (10/5): Highly recommended - We booked a room at the Hand and Spear for my sister while she was visiting for my husband’s 40th birthday, and it was absolutely perfect. The room was quaint, beautifully decorated in a charming boutique style, and wonderfully comfortable. She had a great night’s sleep and really enjoyed the atmosphere. We also chose the breakfast included option, which was a great decision—everything was delicious with a lovely selection of both hot and cold choices. A truly delightful stay with thoughtful touches throughout. Highly recommend!

- Michael (6/5): Not good value for money - This is a very old building which is reflected in its rooms. We were in room 11. First, we had to climb 4 lots of narrow stairs to get to our room. Then, when we were in, ANOTHER set of stairs to go down to a room with a bed (which filled the room) and an en-suite bathroom. The bathroom was like a sauna as it was small, had a heated towel rail which we couldn't turn off, no extractor fan and no window.
The bedroom had a minibar built into the furniture but the covering door was wedged closed with a folded beermat!
The bed, douvet and pillows were all very heavy so not a good sleep.
The breakfast experience wasn't much better. First I had to prove that it was included with my booking (good job i took a printout with me). There were no yoghurts, no sugar to go with the cereal, no bowls, butter etc. Poor choice unless you have the full English.
We chose this Hotel for its proximity to the railway station. If I came to Weybridge again I would stay somewhere cheaper and get a taxi to the station. They were lots of them at the taxi rank when trains came in.
- Sally (6/5): - The breakfast was very poor No yogurt only fruit available were grapes!
The heating in the room was either cold or hot !!
