Guest Reviews

- Randall (9/5): - The place - with its view to the Pacific Coast - is magical.
The sunsets are very unique and colorful.
The Yoga House was incredible - a place to relax and reconnect for sure!
- Fernando (9/5): Vistas espectaculares ambiente relajante.
No tengo comentarios negativos
- Vanessa (9/5): It is a place to relax and disconnect in nature! - The staff were really nice and friendly. Massages out of this world (Erika was incredible!). The place and nature are beautiful, and the view! The trekking path, the yoga studio… it is a place to relax and disconnect! Rooms lack privacy (they are too open to the front). Food can be improved for the price it have. “none -nature” noises: A/C room machines, in-room refrigerator (I disconnected it), loud kitchen noises…

Vanaf de Careterra Interamericana I via Miramar. Alles was OK. Geen bijzondere opmerkingen.
- Anne (10/5): - AMAZINGLY customer service oriented. Bereníce, staff, SO attentive, kind & thorough. Prior to arrival, resort administrator engaged to make personalized arrangements. Wifi steady & stable. Jacuzzi a plus. For arrival, standard vehicle OK (albeit slow w potholes with some portions being unpaved roads), but 4x4 might be helpful. Highly recommend to get away from it all to chill. I travel a lot, and I would go back.
- Wendy (5/5): This resort is very remote and is for people like me who enjoy their solitude and reset of mind, body - The pool, attentive hostess staff-Bernicia, grounds keeper- Hilbert, transportation contractor- Roger and Martin, food mostly, yoga building, scenery.
Massage requests are contingent upon the availability of a contracted local masseuse. Massage was very relaxing! My room was not freshened up prior to my arrival. Dead bugs had to be cleaned up from floor and walls. Removed 2 baby geckos above my head before falling asleep the 1st night. Walkways and retainer walls need power washing. Yoga room, needs dust mopping before guest arrive and yoga blankets needs cleaning and proper storage to maintain freshness for guest. Lounge chairs the same. Areas that are sheltered from the weather needs routine treatment for crawling bugs, ants, spiders and flying insects with a non toxic deterrent. This information was shared with the mod. Know before you go..how far away activities are. Transportation can be costly! Also, after 1 glass of my favorite wine, they ran out and did not accommodate with purchasing more for their stock. The weather prevented me from fully enjoying the pool, so be mindful of the temperature and time if year. Lastly, the jacuzzi needs upgrading (inoperable for 80% of my time there)and the sauna should be checked for geckos before inviting guest to enter for a relaxing experience. The chefs were "ghosts". Never came out to introduce themselves even after I requested to meet them. Communication was challenging with staff, a lot of translation app and google use.
- Ana (10/5): -
- Francisco (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jennifer (8/5): Very good - Nice remote location, if you are looking for amazing views and away from people this is the place for you. Good facilities and friendly staff. Staff didnt speak english, so make sure you have translator software.
- Hilary (5/5): A very expensive stay. - Hotel double charged my credit card and then said that it didn’t go through. I paid cash and left a nice tip but wasn’t provided with a receipt. I paid three times for my two night stay and was not able to rectify with my credit card company because the receipt wasn’t provided in time to dispute the charges. When asked if the hotel could reimburse me directly they did not answer. I paid $564 for a stay that should have cost $188. I would have hoped that this hotel would have arranged reimbursement.
- Gautam (8/5): I would go back. There is a lot to do there and we did not take much time to explore. Great place for a yoga retreat. - Beautiful location, good facilities and very warm staff and owner. The room air conditioner was loud so our night sleep was choppy. Breakfast was amazing, snacks and appetizers were fantastic but dinner was ok.
- Lily (6/5): Pleasant - This is a very beautiful place to stay, but because we came at the end of the rainy season it was very under-staffed. I understand that it's not worth it to pay lots of staff when there aren't many people staying, but we missed out on basic things like having our rooms cleaned and towels replaced, which wasn't great given the price we paid. We were required to tell staff every day in advance if we wanted to have lunch and dinner so that they could decide whether the chef needed to come in, which meant we weren't able to be very spontaneous with our plans. The property is quite far from most things (about half an hour to 40 minutes from San Ramon in the car), so wouldn't recommend it without a car. Overall an okay experience and a lovely place, but not great for the rainy season.
- Marco (9/5): The hotel staff is very friendly and super attentive, with incredible hospitality and attention, sup - The hotel staff is very friendly and super attentive, with incredible hospitality and attention, super delicious food, and good prices They could have more variety in drinks or wines
- Jack (10/5): - Incredible views, great food, amazing staff!
- Emma (10/5): I can't wait to return to this beautiful, peaceful place! - This place is in a rural area but the road is very accessible--- partly paved and the other part is unpaved; 4by4 vehicle is not needed. The view is so beautiful and it can be seen from your your room as well as the restaurant. The meals were ample and very delicious. What a quiet and peaceful place! We have no complaints at all. Bernice made us feel at home and was very attentive to our needs.
- Beatriz (9/5): Superb - The service was great and the place very beautiful, they have a great view!
- Steven (2/5): - After traveling on a dirt road with rocks, I arrived at the property, expecting it to be a resort and spar. I’m an older gentleman and they showed me my
Accommodations and there was no air conditioning or television, and I walk with the brace and there were a lot of steps to walk up and down. I went to a beverage and salad.
- krystal (10/5): - Definitely coming back to visit !
- Madeline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Xenarider (10/5): Beautiful property with spectacular views - The views are spectacular and the pool is lovely The road to get there is very rough but the views up there are worth it
- Lidia (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful view and very helpful staff!!! Super enjoyable and quiet!
- Jody (10/5): - Beautiful, well maintained, attentive enjoyable!
- Monica (9/5): Superb -
- Yazmin (10/5): - Absolutely loved this place. If you are looking for a place to relax and disconnect this is your place. The staff was amazing; they were very accommodating and very alert of everyone. Everyone was so sweet and genuine. The food was amazing; never had one bad dish. Honestly this place is hidden gem. 10/10 recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff are amazing and make this a special place. The vibe is so relaxing. Access roads are not really suitable for small cars (4x4 required). Just a great place to unwind for a few days…additional, the restaurant is great and reasonably priced
- Mara (10/5): Exceptional - We chose to stay a night here on our way to Monteverde to break up the long drive. It wasn't exactly on the way, but we did not want to drive the roads into Monteverde at night, and the pictures of this place seemed like it would be worth the stop. It was! The hotel and its grounds were peaceful and beautiful. We had a fantastic dinner, then were allowed to relax in their jacuzzi tub slightly after it was supposed to closed, as there were not many other guests and we promised to be quiet. Our rooms overlooking the pool were private, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Breakfast in the morning was also great. Nothing!
- Juan (10/5): - This property is beautiful, the villa was clean and modern. The staff Alejandra and Byron are super friendly and helpful. The pool area is beautiful and well maintained. The food is good and the service was amazing. If you want a secluded and peaceful getaway this is the place
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Jurisic (10/5): AMAZING place for resting the soul, finding the peace but also to explore and enjoy different activities! - Amazing location, design, comfort, nature, food, amenities… Feeling like a home with a dose of luxury situated in a perfect place surronded by nature, birds and amazing views. This place has everything you need to relax bit also to enjoy the Costa Ruca nature. The yoga studio in the resort is the most beuatiful studio I have ever been… Hosts are amazing and they take care of anything you need! If you want to use additional services it would be great to plan everything at least 2 days before as therapist for massage or yoga teacher and sound healer are not on the property and need to be booled in advance.
- Tashawna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandra (9/5): We did enjoy the peaceful location but would have liked to be somewhere less remote. It can be quite windy. We didn’t se - Lovely swimming pool but a little cool. Peaceful location. Staff were helpful. Too remote and breakfast a bit sparse.
- Vera (10/5): Exceptional - Great view and friendly staff. Great massage at the spa and well marked trails around the property The road to come from the pacific side is a terrible carretwra there te no signs and we thought we were lost … although directions were given by the hotel to come through San Ramon there were not very clear for us and they were advising to go the other way … they should be even more explicit as google maps does not provide any warning to go that way.
- Wendy (9/5): Lovely, peaceful stay with friendly staff! - This hotel's setting is stunning! It is up in the mountains and is beautifully landscaped. It is quite a way off the beaten path.
- Kimberly (10/5): Come and stay! - Absolutely fabulous… but highly recommend reading directions of how to arrive without a 4x4.
- Celina (8/5): Ok - Beautiful views, clean and great staff. The restaurant also had great food The location. The roads were not all paved and isolated
- Laura (8/5): Absolutely beautiful place - Staff No access to kettle
- Andris (10/5): Exceptional - We loved the stay here. Food tasty. Beautiful swimming pool with amazing view on mountains and ocean. People very very friendly. Our room neighbours returned here and we are ready to return as well. In our 15days trip in Costa Rica, this is the best hotel we stayed so far, highly recommended.
- Jörgen (8/5): Hillside Retreat - Nice little place up in the hills not too far from San Jose airport. Very lovely and friendly host. We visited prior to high season in November and were almost alone. Still everything was available and nothing lacking. We enjoyed the rural feeling, but do take care and follow road instructions by the property and don't trust Google maps, especially if you're arriving from the west, it takes a good 4wd car and some "country road experience" to arrive that route. We enjoyed it, but we've travelled much of outback Australia. The pool was nice, rooms in good condition and food ok. I think a stay of 2-3 days is enough to be very honest, but for a short break it's a good location. Finding the entrance during low season was actually hard. You had to ring a bell to get in.
- Thor (10/5): Exceptional - Amazong View and luxury vibe. Very nice staff! You DO need to take the road from the EAST - unless you have a strong 4*4.
- Kristina (2/5): - I wouldn’t recommend to stay here, most because the management is very unethical and overcharge you on everything, give inaccurate prices starting from their hotel menu to their booking activities, spas or transport. They charge triple the price for what it is, just be caution and double check everything you order from there, and always ask to see prices on the menu, they make stuff up. But really just recommend to avoid this place. The view from the property itself is beautiful and the only thing that made the stay manageable.
- Sylvia (10/5): - Thank you so much for a wonderful experience!! Amazing views, staff and delicious food!
- Robert (9/5): Enjoyable - Pool, brows, staff, restaurant A bit far from Airport…. But not too bad
- Nick (9/5): Superb - Beautiful views, quiet location
Amazing staff, Bayron is great! Maybe too secluded for some
One way of getting there is 20km of unpaved road, get in touch with the hotel if you need directions
- Liliana (8/5): Very good -
- Craig (10/5): Paradise - Everything. This is paradise. Byron was very friendly and took great care of us. We stayed at 10 different places while we were in Costa Rica and this was my favorite. Looking to bring my family there so they can experience it. I highly recommend this place. That I didn't stay longer.
- Glendy (10/5): Most relaxing vacation I’be ever had - This was the most relaxing vacation I’ve ever had. the view is amazing, the food is good quality, the yoga studio is great, you can exercise, go for a hike, enjoy the pool and hot tub, get massages and enjoy the company of cats! We could not get message because of the experts’ availability but the did not change our awesome time during the stay.
- Carolina_d (9/5): Superb - Pool and rooms
The ocean View : Golfo de Nicoya and Puntarenas
- Aimee (4/5): - Getting to this resort was incredibly difficult - if you’re traveling here, going through San Ramon is the ‘easier’ way but it’s scary. The resort is incredibly remote - more remote than I was expecting. It also looked to be run down and very little comforts for such a secluded place. Shortly after arriving, we were told by a couple that they had frequent visitors to dinner in the form of scorpions and tarantulas, and that each meal is pretty similar to the last. That gets old after a couple days. We ended up checking out an hour or so after checking in - it wasn’t what we were expecting and we didn’t feel like we’d be comfortable there for our stay. The host, Byron, was very sweet and kind, and very understanding.
- Jaden (7/5): Good -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - The views, the staff (friendly and helpful), and the yoga room and pool. The views were amazing too!
- Jeffrey (10/5): - So nice and great people!
- Axel (9/5): Superb -
- Farmertravel (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing view and staff. Food was very good and the drinks, pool and sunset were also exceptional. At night you can see the cruise ships sail away. Fantastic stay. Rooms are as the pictures show and very comfortable each with a nice patio. That we only spent one night.
- Monii (10/5): Exceptional -
- Axel (8/5): Lovely retreat space - The property is beautiful. Very well maintained, lovely grounds. Peaceful and serene. The staff is very attentive. Rooms are comfortable and clean. It was a bit of a hike to get there (some unpaved roads, a 4x4 is preferable).
The Wifi inside the room was quite bad.
The dinner meny was limited.
The room's shower had spider webs and a couple of dead spiders.
- Fabian (7/5): A beautiful and convenient spot if you are looking to explore San Ramón - The place is great. Beautiful views to the pacific coast. You can see Puntarenas Town from there, and Puerto Caldera.
The food is amazing! They really have a great Chef. Since we stayed during low season the restaurant schedule was limited. It's ok if you are aware of it.
- Rachel (10/5): Excellent! - Excellent - super relaxing stay. Pool and views were outstanding and staff were keen to make sure the stay was as good as possible. N/A
- Rhian (9/5): Superb - A beautiful, tranquil setting! Food could have been slightly more exciting
- Benoit (7/5): Good -
- Nützel (2/5): Very poor -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Thank you!! Incredible views, staff and overall experience. The location is phenomenal -- surrounded by the mountains, looking out onto the jungle and the Pacific Ocean. Tip: regardless of where you are coming from, be sure to drive up the San Ramon side of Route 742 (there are portion that are unpaved on this route, but this is the very best option to get there). And once you arrive, so amazing and well worth the drive -- from the delicious fresh food, attentive staff, restorative activities (e.g., yoga, sound healing, forest bathing), and don't forget the spa, and so much more. I plan to come back again and highly recommend if you are looking for a magical experience!
- WendyT (8/5): - Loved the quiet off the beaten track area & the amazing view, but would be nice if they had shuttle service to town so those that didn’t have a car could get to the market.
Spa & yoga are unreasonably expensive.
First nite was greeted by a large tarantula in the dining area which kept trying to come back. No one kills them just moves them away.
Apparently we were visiting in Tarantula season... good to know!
Grounds are lovely!
- Jacqueline (8/5): - What a view. The outdoor pool was lovely, a bit fresh but it was nice to overlook the mountains. We were here for Christmas and enjoyed a nice dinner, the restaurant was very accommodating. Lovely place to visit.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property is absolutely beautiful and very peaceful. Unfortunately we only stayed one night and should certainly have stayed longer to take advantage of more options. Staff was very friendly and helpful
- Lisa (10/5): Wish we could have stayed longer - This place is really amazing, just beautiful. From the accommodations to the food and the view. Every detail was thought of to maximize on the beautiful setting. My only recommendation would be to make sure that you arrive before dark as the drive to the hotel is on a sometimes unpaved and unlit mountain road. Also, and this is very important, take the 742 from San Ramon rather than the other entrance.
- Stuart (10/5): Amazing - Vida mountain resort was beautiful peaceful, great facilities with a view to die for we arrived late at night and was greeted by Eric who could not be more helpful, and was for the rest of our stay as were all the staff. We woke up in the morning and as the mist disappeared it left the most amazing view. Lazed in the great pool and jacuzzi and don’t miss the fantastic breakfast or lunch for that matter. Can’t recommend vida more highly
