- Kammie (10/5): - Room decoration is super. Bed is so comfy. Restaurant foods are excellent. Only down is that entry is very narrow to get into the property.
- Anne (6/5): - The room itself was a normal hotel room, when first viewed, until the smell of disinfectant hit your nose and never left until Later on in the evening after struggling to open the old sash window,which was behind a peice of furniture with the mirror and kettle on it. Taking a shower was fun, it was an old fashioned multi trick shower which came at you from all sides. One of the sliding shower doors did not come together, you had to get soaked just to get a normal shower setting. Breakfast was good, but did not have cooked breakfast, one of the other residents came in with her dog to breakfast and the dog was fed some breakfast with one of the normal dinning plates. The door locks are the American type of lock, which I had trouble with particularly as the hall light outside my room was less than good. The receptionist seemed less than pleased having to come and help me with locking my door. I would not have stayed and gone elsewhere if I had not been tired from driving all day. While it is a historic old building, it really needs an Injection of cash to make it great again.
- Ron (8/5): - Fantastic character of property which is grade 1 listed. Staff could not have been more helpful. Put a comment on the initial review about a mini fridge would be useful and one was there the next time we got back to our enormous bedroom. Because of the grade 1 listing the en suite was in the corner of the room with no window which meant the light and extractor fan had to go on every time.

The room was stunning but tired, ripped / warn / tired room interior. Milk off we believe for breakfast no 1. Lovely staff but using a custom outside corridor as a staff smoking / chill out area was less than ideal. Plus’s points; Beautiful location, electric car charging, breakfast was generally very tasty, friend staff.

- IAN (8/5): Character Hotel, good - Hotel full of character, food was very good, excellent sunday roast and breakfast, and the staff were very efficient and friendly. Our room (Smeaton) was in the old section of the hotel, accessed by a narrow spiral stone staircase, with a low oak beam splitting the room in two, unfortunately poor weather meant rain and wind hitting the not so insulated roof was very noisy and made the room cold. We would stay again but in a different room!

Room was dated, we stayed in the Munro studio, no windows that open and looks directly onto the back entrance so needed to keep blinds down otherwise people could see straight in as this is a ground floor room. Opposite kitchen so could smell the cooking. What made this stay was the lovely staff and evening meals were great

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout. My spacious, well-kept room, complete with a wonderfully comfortable four-poster bed, ensured a perfect night's sleep. This unique establishment is undoubtedly one of the best hotels I've had the pleasure of staying. Highly recommended.

They cater for all dietary needs. Lovely quaint romantic restaurant again with a lovely selection of food. We actually ate there both nights we stayed and then had some nice peacful drinks in hotel bar. As for the rooms they were stunning, clean, confortable beds with all the amenties you need. Whether you just want a night away from it all or a base to explore whitehaven or st.bees Moresby Hall is the place to stay.

The building is very old which makes it quite different & my room was up 2 flights of a stone spiral staircase & had a very unusual layout!

My room (Le Meschin) was huge with a superbly comfortable four poster bed and a multi-function shower in the en suite that was perfect after my day of cycling. Food was great, location excellent, I have already recommended to friends

Made us feel really small, initially we thought it was hard but we slept so soundly. Jetted tub with the tv in the wall was a nice touch. Small gardens but immaculately kept. Very quiet considering we were just below a major road. Breakfast was really good and the staff were really efficient and were able to supply a good breakfast

- J (10/5): What a great find! - Another fantastic stay in this beautiful building. The owners Jane and Dave are so welcoming and couldn't do enough for me. Moresby hall is very well maintained, very clean and just a lovely experience to stay in such a historic building including an amazing breakfast! I loved the huge 4 poster bed, period furniture and complimentary shampoo, shower gel and body cream which are a great quality for once! They also have meeting facilities. I will be returning with my family soon as I would like them to experience what a difference this hotel is from the the regular, impersonal and generic hotels we usually have. Thank you Jane, Dave and your staff!
- Ralf-Robert (6/5): - The room was located in backyard house, where highway maintenance trucks were parking directly in font of the window. The room for two was equipped for one. The building is located directly beneath the highway and would be pretty noisy. At our stay it was closed due to construction work.
- Michael (4/5): - Booked for a business trip, I had a meeting mid afternoon and wanted to be settled in the room before starting my online meeting, this meant checking in early, I called the hotel and they were very polite on the phone and happy to oblige. On arriving I had to ring a bell to be let into the building, I was shown to my room, Rooms are ok, comfortable enough and clean if a bit cold. The lady that checked me in asked what time I want breakfast, I was leaving early, before usual breakfast service but was offered for there to be some cereal etc out for me to grab, which was a nice offer. I then found the restaurant is no longer operating, which wasn’t on the Expedia listing. So I ended up at the premier inn restaurant down the road for dinner. On arrival back at the hotel I was greeted by someone who seemed annoyed at me, told breakfast was not possible as they lock the rooms downstairs, as well as the front doors?? Seems like they don’t trust their guests. Any way I said it didn’t matter and went back to my room. Slept ok, got ready to leave for the day and just as I was on the way out, I was offered breakfast which I now didn’t have time for. There is a building site right outside the hotel, I didn’t notice noise, but others might. Turn into the hotel is very tight if you have a big car. Without an on-site restaurant and other small niggles in all honesty it’s not worth the effort, just stay at the premier inn.
- Kenneth (10/5): - Beautiful old building, lovely grounds staff were excellent. The bed was not that comfortable. Currently no restaurant. No laundry on site only a laundry service. Entryway is a bit tight for getting a car in
- Diana (10/5): Amazing value. - We had a wonderful stay at Moresby Hall. Our room was lovely with plenty of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and delicious biscuits. The breakfast was hot and delicious. We hope we can make a return visit soon.
- Wendy (10/5): Great stay - Claire was in charge when I checked in. Although she was new to the job, she was great. Rooms are large, bed very comfortable. The house is very old and jam packed with history. Loved it

- Liva (10/5): A picturesque getaway - Well adapted to current situation and made everyone feel comfortable. Had a lovely room, nice food and very friendly hosts. If you like walking there is a great path from the hotel to Whitehaven right on the coast.

- NICHOLAS (10/5): My first time in Cumbria - This is an amazing place, full of character and finished to a very high standard. Everyone I met was friendly and helpful. The room was nice however quite cold, despite the heating being on, however once i was snuggled down it was rather pleasant. Due to prior arrangements I didnt eat at the hotel, however I have no doubt that the food woud have been as good as the service. I would certainly stay here again.

- Verified traveler (8/5): - Unique location, great history. Parking a bit tight and difficult to use charger as it had scaffolding in front. Studio was an eclectic taste but roomy. Good breakfast, cooked to order. Would stay again.
- Paul (6/5): Family run Grade 1 listed - We did not see the -mail stating that you cannot check in early. We arrived at 1440 and the response was luke warm. They say first impressions count and the owners opening was' you cannot check in till 4. We left and came back later. I would not say that they were unfriendly as that would be unfair, they could just have been a bit more understanding or offered an alternative. We had seen the reviews and thought it was a small hotel but is actually run as a B&B with the owners living on site. Clearly a beautiful old home. The owners have spent both time and money on what is an obvious money pit but I would suggest this is not a 5 star location as advertised. The breakfast was good and warm but the family room (for 3) looked tired and lacked tea spoons and sufficient cutlery in the kitchenette for 3 people. The room was a good size and the sofa bed a small double sufficient for an adult or a couple of children. the paint work looked dated and there has been leaks in the room above. The location is in driving distance of Cockermouth (a pretty town) but don't bother with Whitehaven which was very run down and lacked any seaside feel. If your walking in the lakes this is not too far away and a good starting point.

- David (10/5): Lovely Hotel. - What a lovely hotel. Stayed in "Copeland" had 2 great nights sleep.Bathroom is exquisite. Stayed in 100s of hotels but this was the first with a tv in the bathroom. Lovely attentive staff and good food. Looking forward to returning.
