• Jamie (10/5): Love this homestay - Very homey that I really did feel like im home away from home. The place is very clean, the comforter was definitely comforting. the owner was very accommodating and helped us even during wee hours. The location may be a little hard to find for some especially if you’re arriving at darker hours and the streets are a little too narrow. But the owner will give you instruction and you can ask the cab driver to talk to the owner too for the location.
• Xu (10/5): - The hosts are incredibly welcoming and helpful (providing a SIM card, bank details, transportation, a day trip, and everything else I had questions about). I immediately felt at home. It's a very comfortable place to stay; nothing was lacking. I received many helpful tips, and we chatted like friends. I would definitely stay here again if I have the opportunity to return to Kathmandu. Thank you so much, and I hope to see you again soon!

The location is very convenient, close to the airport, with easy access to transportation. Many temples and restaurants are within walking distance, making it simple to explore and get around the city. There was nothing to dislike, we truly felt right at home throughout our stay.

It was an amazing start to my trip and they truly make you feel like family - they sat down with me so I didnt have to eat breakfast alone both mornings and helped me out even after I had left.🙏 True and lived hospitality! Everything was good - the location is perfect if you want a non touristy, local, residential area. It is close to the airport so also great for arrival and departure but to get to the sites you would need to take a short (10min) taxi ride, but thats no issue with apps like InDrive and Pathao, just ask the hosts!

Bin gekommen wie ein Gast und gegangen wie ein Freund! - Die Unterkunft befindet sich nicht weit weg vom Flughafen, etwas weiter vom Tamel, aber es ist kein Problem mit Taxi das Centrum zu erreichen, und wer längere Spaziergänge mag, kann unterwegs viel sehen. Ich habe ein Zimmer mit eigenem Bad gehabt. Das Zimmer war sauber, gemütlich, mit kleinem Balköncheen. Es gab immer heißes Wasser! Die Besitzer Sugat und Roshani — herzens liebe Menschen!!!! Haben mich mit allen Informativen versorgt: wie man von A nach B kommt, wohin man am besten Essen geht etc., Kontakte gegeben für Bus fahren von Kathmandu nach Pokhara, Chitwan…, Trekkings Unternehmen. Ich dürfte meinen Koffer in dem Homestay lassen, als in die Trekking gemacht habe und andere Städte besucht habe. Ich habe mit bei Sugat und Roshani wie zuhause gefühlt! Dafür bin ich sehr dankbar! Und wenn ich nächstes Mal in Kathmandu bin, weiß ich schon, wo ich bleibe! Sie besitzen noch ein Restaurant, da kann man auch gut essen gehen.👍🏼 —

• Indira (9/5): Lovely, comfortable and peaceful place to stay in Kathmandu - We had a lovely stay at Swagat. The location is great, conveniently near the airport but tucked away in a residential area. We were the only tourists around so all the locals knew that we were guests here and were super friendly, the area felt really safe. Sugat and Roshani were great hosts and the rooms were super comfortable.
• Han (10/5): Very cosy in a real Nepali neighbourhood and friendly hosts - Breakfast was very good host was very friendly and informative. Besides that: the location is very good especially when you want to stay in a real Nepali atmosphere and neighbourhood out of the tourist zone. When my wife had an ankle injury host immediately reserved groundfloors appartement without extra costs.

Siempre dispuesto a ayudarnos y a darnos sugerencias sobre qué ver y hacer, hizo que nuestra estancia fuera mucho más fácil y agradable. Un día incluso nos preparó un desayuno local para sorprendernos y hacernos sentir especiales, ¡todo un detalle! El ambiente es acogedor y el personal muy amable. • Cristina (10/5): - I made the best decision to book at Swagat homestay because my stay was perfect. The location is outside Thamel which I like because the area is quiet and safe. Sugat and Roshi were the warmest and kindest hosts. They welcomed me into their home and made sure I was comfortable, safe and having a great time in Kathmandu. They were also kind enough to store my luggage while I go on another trip. The place is secured and homely. Stay was short. I'll make sure to stay longer next time.

I had a delicious breakfast and get very good information about country from them. Room was clean and quiet. It is a lovely place to stay. I recommend.

• Elvira (10/5): Uitstekend - De gastheer en gastvrouw voorzien je van alle informatie die je nodig hebt! Ze reageren snel op WhatsApp. De homestay ligt in een rustige en veilige buurt. Het is geen toeristische buurt en dat vinden wij fijn. Wij vonden het soms wat lastig om een restaurant in de buurt te vinden. Een taxi rit lost dit op.

The location is excellent — tucked in a quiet alley in the heart of the city, it offers a peaceful retreat while still being close to everything you need. Unlike the busy Thamel area, staying here gave us a more authentic experience of local life. Shops, food stalls, and daily necessities were all just a short walk away. What made the stay truly special was the warm hospitality. The host lady prepared delicious homemade breakfasts for us every morning and always welcomed us with a smile. She took time to chat with us, sharing stories about Nepali culture and giving helpful travel tips. Her kindness and care really made us feel at home. If you’re looking for a place that’s affordable, peaceful, and filled with heart, I highly recommend Swagat Home Stay.

The owner prepares the breakfast and after asking where can we find mangoes she bought for us the next morning. If you ask for recommendations from the owners they can advise which places worth visiting. (temples, restaurants, Bazaar, and more) Fabulous place, RECOMMENDED 👌👌👌

• Russell (9/5): A great place to start your Nepal adventure. - so glad I read reviews and chose Swagat homestay as my first stop in Nepal. everything was great from pick up at airport till when I left 4 days later. Away from the tourist area you get the feeling you are accepted by locals as just another person. A reasonable hike into town if you like walking or there are options to make it easier. Sugat and Roshani are a fountain of info and really personable. I will come back here after my stint at Kopan Monastery. Nothing to complain about, I suppose a bit of a walk to restraunts but discoverying more as time passes.

Sugat and Roshani are amazing hosts and made me feel very comfortable, and they are great to chat to in the mornings over breakfast. They also kindly kept my luggage safe while I went trekking. The friendly couple who run the place go above and beyond to make you feel welcome, offering care and support with anything you might need. The rooms are spacious, spotless, and well-equipped, with comfortable furnishings and a modern bathroom featuring a hot shower. Electricity is reliable, and the internet connection is fast and stable. Breakfast is excellent, and there’s always free drinking water available for guests. The hotel is located in a quiet area, tucked away from the noise of the main streets. It’s about a 30-minute walk to Thamel and just a 10-15 minute taxi ride from the airport, which typically costs 500-700 rupees. This is a wonderful place to stay, and I can confidently recommend it. You’ll leave with only positive impressions!

The homestay is located in a lovely calm non touristy area. Take the small streets to walk to durbar square or Tamel and you will be able to see the local life - we loved it!

• Filip (10/5): Quiet place in hectic city - We stayed cor one night only. The room was clean, modern and comfy. Sugat was very helpful with arranging us a taxi to the airport and very thorough with welcoming us to his house. We definitely recommend this place.

Swagat means welcome in Nepali and having stayed at this homestay twice during my trip to Nepal I must say that the name is very fitting. The owners - Sugat and Roshani - went out of their way to ensure that I had a great time in Kathmandu.

• Roy (10/5): Accommodating, friendly! - First and foremost we couldn’t recommend a stay with Sugat (the owner) any more! Very welcoming family, with it being our first time in the area and not knowing much we required some help, with Sugat it felt like we had our own local guide with the amount of information and guidance he gave us! We felt he went the extra mile by booking our bus/taxi journey out of town for us, also accompanying our taxi drivers over the phone to locate his place for us! (As it is a remote area). We would also like to mention mention the food at his second hotel, notably the buff mo mo dish was incredible! Highly recommend heading there! Would most definitely return! Absolutely nothing! Great stay!

I arrived super late at night from a log bus trip that was delayed and they where expecting me and keeping track of my journey. Really appreciated. The room is big and super comfy, amazing hot shower and friendly breakfast with small talk every day :) Even though I just stayed for 3 days I would rather spend more days. Well located to explore the est of Kathmandu, and close to Thamel (30 min walking). The neighborhood is calmed and beautiful to discover the city off the center.

• Isabel (10/5): Best place to stay in Kathmandu - I highly recommend Swagat Homestay for long term trips. The breakfast is really good and the family is so lovely and helpful! I actually stayed here for two months, and I found the entire experience very convenient. There's lots of local restaurants around and a local vegetable market about 5 minute walk from the homestay. There's also a kitchen which I used every evening to cook dinner. Sugat and Roshani are wonderful people and gave me loads of advice on what to do during my stay and how to get places. I had both a friend and my father come and stay with me at different points during the two months I was in Nepal, and they also loved their stays:) I'm really going to miss it here! nothing.

• Floris (10/5): Sugat and Roshani will naturally make you feel at home. - For me the best part were Sugat and Roshani, whose Homestay it is. Every morning at breakfast I would speak to one or both of them which made me feel welcome and at ease. It also made it very easy for me to ask any questions I had about for example where to go for a specific bus or place to visit, or even having Sugat help me book the bus to Pokhara. While I was gone for a few days, I could leave my bigger bag at their place. They were a fantastic support! 🙏

• Jose (10/5): Very pleasant stay - What I liked the most was how helpful the hosts are with advices, sorting things out for us in regards to day trips and super available. I feel like you can get an experience closer to what living in Nepal is as oppose to go to a standard hotel. Meeting his family was without doubt a magnificent surprise. The breakfast is outstanding as well, and you should definitely try Sugat’s restaurant, the food is amazing and the venue has the best environment, relaxed and romantic as well :) Thank you for time we spent there!
• Gunnur (8/5): Peaceful, comfortable place to stay out of the city center. - The owner and his wife were so friendly and helpful. They have answered all our questions and they gave us great advices about Katmandu and Nepal. We were generally happy about the property, the only thing that you need to be mindful is the main door that’s hight is pretty low.
• Shu (10/5): Exceptional - The very friendly host, who is the owner, provided me with a lot of advice on traveling around Kathmandu. The breakfast was on par.
• Domenico (10/5): Exceptional - I asked for a late check in since my flight was scheduled in the night, and they allowed it without problems! Good environment inside and outside the property.
• Terry (10/5): The perfect Homestay! - Location is in a quiet area, it was “just like home” with Roshani and Sugat. Nice to return to the quiet at night, away from the business of other Kathmandu areas. Roshani and Sugat are both very accommodating and kind. Was easy to communicate via whats app before and during stay. An short walk to main road and from there, walk, (or taxi) to many of the points of interest in and around Kathmandu. Roshani and Sugat were very helpful with directions, banking, SIM card, use of taxi app, places to eat and see etc etc. Lovely hosts!

The rooms were not only aesthetically pleasing but also comfortable, providing a perfect retreat after a day of exploring. Their insights added a personal touch to our trip, making it more memorable. • Cissy (10/5): A new home in Kathmandu - We loved our stay with Sugat and Roshani, it was amazing! The first day we arrived in Kathmandu Sugat could pick us up at the airport and we immediately felt at home. They have a beautiful garden and it is a very quiet peaceful place in the middle of the city. Sugat and Roshani went out of there way to help us with everything: buying bustickets to Pokhara, places we should visit, organising the trekking, getting a sim card etc. And Roshani made every moring a delicious breakfast for us! We had super nice conversations and they are very interested and caring. We liked our stay so much that we came back 4 times during our 7 week stay in Nepal and it really felt like coming home. Sugat and Roshani, thank you so much for letting us stay with you and we will definetely come back again! :DDD

• Christine (10/5): Welcoming, comfortable, clean, and calm oasis in Kathmandu - The house is a tranquil oasis in a busy city. It’s not in the tourist neighborhood, so I got to see the daily life of Kathmandu residents. The hosts are kind and helpful, and the cleanliness and comfort are impeccable. I will return on my way back through Kathmandu!

Highly recommended, great hosts who made our stay in Kathmandu a lovely experien - A very clean and comfortable room and bathroom in a good location plus an excellent breakfast. The outstanding element is the warmth, friendliness, helpfulness and kindness of the hosts Sugat and Roshani, they went above and beyond our expectations in help and advice during our stay, helping with a Nepali SIM card, topping it up for us, telling us where best to exchange currency, booking the bus to Pokhara for us when we had difficulty with the bus website, suggesting restaurants, sites to visit, organizing a taxi to nargakot, endless kindness. We also ate at the restaurant they have in Patan called the jacaranda, excellent food, a lovely setting and good prices. We can highly recommend other travelers to stay at the Swagat Homestay. There was nothing disappointing at all.
