Guest Reviews
- Patsy (10/5): - The owners were so sweet, very informative about area and places to eat nearby, the room was so clean, heater worked great, bed was so comfortable, water pressure excellent and those towels were like blankets, the breakfast was menu with lots of choices including the full Scottish breakfast as an option, tea was great, coffee was wonderful, location was on a working farm it was the best stay thus far on our roadtrip thru Scotland, would definitely stay again!!!!
- J (10/5): - This little place bucks the trend where other establishments are failing and has charm in abundance.
From entry to exit, everything is just done right. The room was spacious, clean and well maintained. The ensuite bathroom was again well maintained with large shower. There are other personal touches within the room such as fresh milk provided and a baked treat daily.
Then there is the breakfast, an expertly cooked Scottish breakfast with fresh coffee, juices and the most insane, cloud like pancakes.
The owners are brilliant, great conversation, interesting and have a lovely backstory.
Location wise, it is very quiet aand safe around the B&B, with European travelers choosing it as a base to see local landmarks. I used it as my base for the Oil and Gas show up the road in Aberdeen and will do so again next time.
- David (10/5): - A great place to stay, a great breakfast in the morning, but what made the stay unforgettable was the conversation with the hosts/owners of the property.
- Emily (10/5): - What a beautiful place and lovely breakfast!
- Mark (10/5): - Chapel of Barras is a great place to stay! The room was spacious with a huge closet and an en suite bathroom. Breakfast was a huge Scottish breakfast with haggis, black pudding, bacon, sausage, tomatoes and mushrooms, plus fried eggs and toast! Also, coffee, juice, scones, and some other stuff too - very filling! The hosts are very friendly and helpful with lots of knowledge of the area. Location is great - out in the countryside, nice and quiet, but not too far from towns and the seaside.
- Charlotte (10/5): - Beautiful country setting. Peaceful and quiet. Nice to be away from the city. Enjoyed the cows, barley fields, garden, etc.
- Claudia (10/5): - Excellent!! Hosts were awesome and the scenery was spectacular. Best spot we stayed while in Scotland.
- Marjory (10/5): - We liked most things, it was well organised and little touches had been added to make one's stay as pleasant as possible. The owners were very friendly and told us about the surrounding area and even booked dinner for us at a local hotel. We would have preferred a larger bed but that was only a small point.
- Jeremy (10/5): - Michelle and David - the owners - were warm, attentive and made my stay very pleasant.
- Carl (10/5): - This is a great little bed and breakfast, out in the middle of farming country in rural Scotland. We were there to explore several of the little villages out that way, so this was the perfect location! Breakfast was terrific, the room was spacious and cozy. We'd definitely stay here again!
- Rae (10/5): - Michelle was the perfect hostess can’t say enough good things about this property. On a scale of one to five stars this gets a ten.
- Doug (10/5): - Awesome hosts!
- David (10/5): - Lovely clean and quiet property. 10/10 and 5 stars. Hosts are very friendly and work hard to provide well appointed accommodation and breakfast
- Roxana (10/5): - Nice room, great hosts
- Soyeon (10/5): - We loved this place and neighboring fields of gold(barley, beans, wheats... etc). Close to the mesmerizing Dunnotar castle(less than 15 mins drive). Breakfast was filling. Owners were very kind. They even allowed us to charge our rented electric car. Will definitely be back here again.
- Leif (10/5): Fantastisk bra B&B - Flott sted med store gode rom og utmerket frokost.

Wonderful breakfast made to order
Michelle is a wonderful host

- Tammy (10/5): - The owners of the B&B are the sweetest people. They really get to know their guest. The breakfast that was made was farm to table and the best I have had in the UK.I wpuld highly recommed especially if you want to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the city. You will not be disappointed.
- Marsha (10/5): - We lived this real farm in the country! Fields of canola seed and daffodils made for beautiful photos. Even cows! Great breakfast and friendly hosts! Short drive to Dunnator castle. Delicious breakfast.
- India (10/5): - Absolutely stunning B&B with wonderful hosts! We had a wonderful time! Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer!

Michelle and her husband are very welcoming. Michelle gave us a short tour of their farm after breakfast.
- Ashley (10/5): AMAZING - This place was incredible. The rooms were huge (bigger than my bedroom at home) and absolutely gorgeous views. The breakfast as well was incredible - the kids are already asking if we can go back!
- Neil (10/5): Recent stay - Very warm welcome and very Covid safe.
Spacious room and amazing breakfast.
Would happily stay here again if we are back in the area.
- Tony (10/5): Top class accommodation in a beautiful rural area. - 11/10 Wonderful rural location, very welcoming couple who couldn't do enough to be helpful. Accommodation of a high quality food tasty and wholesome, a lot was homemade. We explored the area and without David & Michelle kind suggestions we wouldn't have discovered them. They were happy to show us their working farm. As people, they were friendly and open , we felt like old friends.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this place to family, friends and colleagues alike.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean, welcoming, quiet, spacious. Great to be in the middle of countryside but with easy access to city. Just next to a working farm with cattle, so you do get some agricultural smells.
- David (10/5): Really nice place. - Lovely hostess, clean spacious room and the best night sleep away from home for as long as I can remember. The velux window blinds blacked the room out for a great night’s sleep. The location meant light pollution at night was none existent but stopped the early morning light waking me up too early. Makes a big difference when you travel a lot. A great breakfast was had, I think the plate had a pattern when I started....
Its a pity I arrived in the dark as the drive out in the morn was lovely.
- RUTH (10/5): Highly recommend. - Lovely room with everything we needed. Very welcoming hosts. Fantastic breakfast.
- David (10/5): 5 Star accommodation - As soon as you arrive you feel at home, the property has been finished to the highest standard, Dave & Michelle cannot do enough for you, they are very informative of things in the area, breakfast was to die for.
We will return for a longer stay next time
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean, comfortable, simply amazing - We travelled to Stonehaven for New Years Eve and due to popular demand, all accommodations within the town were booked up. The Chapel of Barras was the only remaining room available and it was 15 minutes from the town. This ended up being an absolutely blessing in disguise!! The b&b was nothing short of amazing..located on a working farm which in turn made the facility feel rustic and ‘homey’. Michelle was amazing as a host; friendly, warm, knowledgeable. Even offering rides into town (we had a car so we declined). The room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was brilliant and the company was enjoyed by all. We were welcomed in the morning with New Years hugs and cheers. The facility is kid friendly; with a cute little play area upstairs. Our heater didn’t work during the night but if you’re sharing the bed with someone, that won’t be a big problem. Absolutely amazing! Our favourite accommodation within the two weeks of travelling around the UK. Highly recommend
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved the hosts. Rooms were nice sized as was the bathroom. Wonderful breakfast and chat with Michelle.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Working farm, pretty area, near castle and 3 miles from a great cliffside restaraunt. Breakfast is excellent.
- Kathleen (10/5): Very nice B&B accomadation. - Lovely, delicious breakfast, bright, clean and comfortable. David and Michelle are welcoming, helpful and a delight to talk with.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The perfect BB comfortable rooms best breakfast great location great host as David says spot on 👍😁
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely couple and excellent "welcome"; room very quiet and comfortable and excellent breakfast with genuine farm produces (except overseas tea and coffee !). could you please indicate for Following visitors your GPS coordinates ?
- BW (10/5): - Great place for a night or more. Super quiet thanks in part to an older generation of fellow guests. Beautiful country setting. Cows in the field. Windows that opened to let the cool night air in. Wonderful full Scottish breakfast. And perfect hosts. Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - An excellent B&B in all respects. Highly recommended
- Jan (10/5): - A lovely home in a beautiful rural setting. Spacious rooms with sitting room & a patio where we watched pheasants and rabbits in the garden. Michelle and David are wonderful hosts who go out of their way to provide a quality B & B. We would definitely visit again! The only thing I would change is requesting a room upstairs, as the people above us were up during the night and we heard them walking around above us.
- Nicholas (10/5): The best! - Wow! Wonderful hosts and a lovely location. Probably the best B&B we have stayed in, the bedroom was lovely and just right for us. Breakfast was very good ( homemade bread to die for!).
- Elliot (10/5): What a gem - The hands down best B and B I’ve stayed at in the UK. I am a restless sleeper but slept wonderfully every night spent here (3). Breakfast is fantastic and freshly cooked. Owners are very friendly and welcoming. Will probably stay here again next time I’m in the area
- sheila (10/5): - very nice overnight stay hoist very friendly like home from home ..😃
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Working farm

Excellant meal
Bed was outstanding with real pillows
Stone quiet
Huge room, bath, and closet

- Carina (10/5): Perfekt! - På landet med ro omkring en. Tæt på god spisesteder (i bil). Værds paret super venligt. God stor morgenmad. Rent, god seng og et godt værelse. Dejlig kage og kaffe ved ankomst.
- MarieJ (10/5): - Très charmant petit B &B , accueil chaleureux, propreté impeccable!
- Verified traveler (10/5): A very nice B&B - Absolutely to recommend. The owner are very nice and helpful.
- WILLIAM (8/5): Overall lovely stay - Beautiful house in a quiet location. Only downside of our room was the constant creaking of the ceiling from the guests in the room above ours.
- Steve (10/5): Home away from home - Michelle and David were the warmest friendliest host that made us feel welcomed in their home. The room was spotless and spacious. The area was beautiful. Great place
