Guest Reviews
- Voyce (10/5): Really clean and comfortable stay away - Very tidy, easy to find and great value for money. Can’t fault it.
- Alwyn (10/5): Great location and comfortable stay - Small, but clean and very comfortable bed. Ensuite shower and WC were perfect. Coffee and tea a bonus. Will return! Could hear people coming up and down the stairs outside...
- Deborah (9/5): - Good location. Great value for money. Easy entry with keyless.
- Michael (9/5): Very pleasant stay - Was very happy with the room. Did not interact with any of the staff but this was not a problem as everything from check-in to check-out worked as expected. Good location, very pleasant stay. The ceiling is not well insulated from noise as I could often clearly hear the person above walking around and so I was extra mindful about moving around in my own room. Overall it did not bother me because I can generally ignore a large degree of noise but I might suggest bringing ear plugs.
- Klentivian (5/5): -
- Marilena (3/5): - The position The cleanliness, the quietness, the communication, the size of the rooms, the privacy of the cabin
- Paul (10/5): Perfect stay, this will become my go to overnight stay in Cambridge. - So Convenient from the train station. The price was fantastic. The instructions were very clear to get into the building and then up to the room. It had everything you need, clean towels and the bedding was so soft. The bathroom was clean and tidy. Considering the hotel next to the train station can be in excess of £200, this was perfect! Will be staying again everytime I have to travel to our Cambridge office.
- Ferdinand (5/5): I had a decent stay at The Orlando Hotel. The room was clean, the location was great, and it offered good value for the - Nice interior. The soundproofing wasn’t great — I could hear the next room coughing. The fire alarm was also very sensitive, and I was told not to use my perfume, which I found frustrating.
- Markia (8/5): - I really enjoyed the neighborhood.
- Alexandra (9/5): - The room was very clean and the bed super comfortable and larger than a single bed (I had booked a single room). The bathroom was modern and clean. Claire was available by email and text message whenever I had a question and very quickly arranged luggage storage for me on the day of departure. The property is very conveniently located near the main train station, with lots of food options and local buses nearby. There are coffee making facilities and a mini-fridge in the room, which I really appreciated. It was a very comfortable stay. If you have a large or heavy suitcase, it might be a bit more challenging to reach the second floor due to the narrow stairs (but there are not so many steps).
- Marllyane (10/5): - muito limpo e cheiroso
- Abbie (10/5): -
- David (7/5): Great spot. Fair price. Would recommend and definitely stay again. -
- Genevieve (7/5): - Some really strong chemical smell prevented me from sleeping well - had to open windows wide. perhaps worth investigating? Otherwise super clean and comfortable
- Kieron (4/5): Was ok for the money, but recommend spending a bit more for a proper hotel. I wont be staying again. - Near the station and easy to get in etc bathroom was clean and new. Bed was comfy. Tea and coffee machines and shower gel/shampoo all good. The hotel is very noisy with little to no sound proofing meaning its very noisy from the above rooms and hallways. My last night there was a large group of men who made it impossible to sleep and was very intimidating as they made noise all night and there is no support for this situation as it is an unattended facility. Definitely not good for solo female travellers. I had to leave at 4.30am to get a train and had zero sleep. The fridge doesnt work and should be removed due to H&S, the light is on but not cold and smells.
- Stanislav (8/5): -
- Robbie (10/5): -
- Žampachová (8/5): - Perfect location by the train station. Very clean, warm and new. Unfortunately, you can hear (and “feel”) all movement over your head as the ceilings are probably very thin.
- Valentina (5/5): Loud noise at 5.00 am in a smelly room - -clean
-close to train station
-comparably cheap Inacceptable:
- I was woken up at 5.00 AM (!!) to loud noise coming from the wall right behind my head. It turned out that a noisy pump or whatever goes on whenever you take a shower. My neighbor must have taken a shower at 5am. This was a really loud noise lasting several minutes, so it was hard to fall back asleep. Could happen any time...
- there was a sewage smell coming from the bathroom (it was of course strongest in the bathroom but you could still smell it in the room). You get used to it to some extent. Not completely though.
Minor inconveniences:
- TV didn't work
- lamp on bedside table didn't work; light switch next to the door, so can't switch off light from the bed
- long narrow and steep stairs to the room without a lift (room 7 is on the top floor)
- water pressure in the shower was low and the water took long to warm
- after entering the pin code at the doors you do not hear any kind of noise so I ended up entering the pin code too often (just push and the door will open though, there is no beep or click)
If you have the budget to book elsewhere, do yourself a favor and do not stay here. I only stayed for one night and regretted it, despite the cheap price.
If you are on a tight budget, though, you will survive since it is clean. Just expect to be woken up in the middle of the night and having to get used to quite an unpleasant smell.
- Macaron (7/5): - Price for the location was great. Walls are very thin, could not sleep at all first night and kept being awaken by noises throughout the property
- Massimo (9/5): -
- Toluwalope (10/5): -
- Alice (8/5): -
- Raphael (9/5): -
- Xiying (8/5): - 干净、整洁、位置方便 提供的寄存行李的邮箱显示不存在,无法接收邮件,希望改进
- Zoltan (7/5): - Wi-Fi didn't work, password wasn't correct.
Out of the 2 networks shown on the sheet, 1 didn't exist, the other one didn't have the right password.
- Katie (9/5): Very nice place - We were in room 5. The bed was very comfortable, the mini fridge, the private bathroom, the shower was very noise cancelling, the TV was brilliant quality, lots of natural light, windows when shut were also quite noise cancelling. Little air conditioning unit was also very nice. Easily accessible with the same code for all the doors. The room did get stuffy quite easily with closed windows, but that's no one's fault. Some guests in the room above were making noise or walking around at all hours, but still not the hosts fault. The first front door did seem like it might have been broken. The sliding door for the toilet did have a bit of a gap where some of the bed could be seen through it. Got disturbed by the cleaners a few times.
- Andrea (6/5): -
- Jennifer (7/5): The room was adequate for my needs - The location was good if travelling by train. The bed was comfortable. Quite a nice bathroom with a large walk in shower The room was very hot, even though it wasn't hot outside. I couldn't leave the window open when not in the room or asleep as there was scaffolding outside. I couldn't get the WiFi to work. The shower was very low pressure
- Silvan (1/5): - Bed wasn't cleaned; toilet was filled with old toilet paper; insects everywhere, even on the bed which wasn't cleaned; blood on the walls; unclear instructions for entry; not reachable via phone in case you need it. In the end decided to go to another hotel. NOT RECOMMENDED
- Umberto (10/5): - Bellissimi
- Ufuk (10/5): -
- Doug (3/5): - There was a motor or something in the wall beside my bed. It would go off randomly in the night and wake me up.
The hotel building is having work done. There was scaffolding beside the window, and the window was beside the bed. I was awakened by power drills at 7:50am Saturday morning. The drill was in the wall beside my head. I was on the top floor (room 7) and there were workers on the roof as well. I don't know what they were doing but twice I thought they were about to come through the ceiling. I didn't feel comfortable showering in case the roof caved in.
I didn't get proper sleep.
- Christof (9/5): -
- Yaiza (8/5): -
- Geerhard (10/5): The Orlando was exactly what I needed and wanted, which is why I returned - and plan to return again - This is my second stay at the Orlando, it is located exactly where I needed to be, a short walk from the train station. There are plenty of sources of food nearby (grocery stores, takeaway, restaurants) and had a small refrigerator, coffee and tea devices, a desk, and very thoughtful placement of plugs and USB charging connections.
The host (Claire) helpfully responded to my one request, and provided careful, accurate instructions for all matters needing them.
This is certainly my go-to location for stays in Cambridge. The glass partition from the shower/sink/toilet took some getting used to. While the glass *is* frosted rather than clear, I'm not sure if I'd feel comfortable if I were not traveling alone. Since I was, it was not a problem.
- Darin (9/5): -
- Akdidar (8/5): -
- Tegan (10/5): Lovely stay, very conveniently located to rail station, clean welcoming rooms. - Very clean, great location and relaxing decor in rooms.
- Agata (9/5): -
- Rachel (5/5): Convenient but in need of improvements - Great location and clean Broken chair, broken coffee machine (very sad about that) and the shower didn’t really get hot. Also in my room a horrible noise (maybe boiler or something) at 11:30pm and again at 6:30 pm
- yakup (1/5): -
- Javeria (9/5): -
- Uri (9/5): -
- Lorna (1/5): Cold - The room itself was very smart with a large tv and ensuite. The room smelled of weed! The windows had been left open to air the room but all that seemed to have done was make it very cold. Unfortunately the radiator didn’t work so I spent a very chilly night in bed. The kettle cuts out before it’s boiled too. I contacted the owner and she did respond to me, but didn’t fix the problem or change my room.
- Angus (8/5): Perfect for a pitstop and to explore Cambridge - Great little pitstop on way back north
- Mark (9/5): - Spacious, comfortable, clean room. It seemed good value. Overall, well modernised accommodation and definitely would stay again.
- John (2/5): Very bad, door street and lock to room not working, no personnel in the building, text only contact - Room was clean. Facilities fine. The lock to the room did not work. There was no one in the building to deal with this. The owner-manager was only available by text. They gave me guidance to re-set the lock but this did not work. Also, the main door onto the street did not lock, so there was only one door between my room and the street and no security in the building. I was offered a locker on the ground floor to store my luggage but this did not sound like a safe option either, given the general security problem. So had to take my luggage with me to the event I was attending.
- Thame (10/5): - Modern facilities and location Nothing
- john (10/5): -
- Julie (5/5): -
- Knuffi (9/5): GREAT STAY - Our room was clean. Location was perfect for our itinerary. Owner was quick to respond to phone calls and text queries. I would happily stay here again. No staff on the premises however the owner responded quickly to calls or texts which was good.
- Antonio (7/5): convinient - the bed, the shower, the location. It was very dusty below the bed. the towels provided were very old. The room was too warm and the fan provided was not enough to keep the room fresh.
- Maria (10/5): - Fabulous room.
Quirky and compact
Perfect location ( but I knew this as I was a student in Cambridge many moons ago)
Spotlessly clean
And so quiet! I didn't heat a single guest despite the accommodation reportedly having no vacancies
- Alec (9/5): -
- G (6/5): Short stay - Host was very clear with instructions on how to enter the hotel and room. Hotel had all the basic amenities l, a great stay for a short stay. I didn’t like the smell, it had an old pipe, sewage smell (if that makes any sense) maybe due to the building being on the older side but also the walls were quite thin 🫣
- Farren (7/5): Good -
- Beatriz (7/5): We enjoyed our stay but it felt like being in a student hostel rather than a hotel as advertised. - The room was clean and comfortable. There was no one there to recieve us. The lock codes worked well though.
Light from nexdoor window was on most of the time and disturdbed us. A simple blind in the bathroom would prevent that.
- Yanna (9/5): Superb - Good place to stay for couple of nights. Train station is super close, 20 min walk to the city center. -
- Lisa (8/5): Clean and well appointed room - Well appointed room which was scrupulously clean. Blackout curtains All pillows v firm and our room was right by the main door to the property which meant we heard other residents returning late. Would stay again but request first floor room if available. Great location for our family visit
- Maria (7/5): Good for a short stay, close to the train station and amenities. - The room was small as advertised and the location was good, close to the train station and to many amenities. They offer a convenient service of luggage lockers at the premises at no extra charge. Communication with the property was OK. the room was too hot and had poor ventilation. It was very uncomfortable all the time and it was worse at night time. Although it had a small fan, it wasnt enough to cool down the room. I contacted the property about it but there was no answer. I would not stay again on my next visit to Cambridge.
- Jack (4/5): Disappointing -
- Beaunice (8/5): Very good -
- Neville (8/5): Very good -
- Rouxelin (9/5): Superb -
- Christine (9/5): Best night's sleep for ages.. - Very convenient location near the station and buses to the centre. Loved the very comfy bed and the very high standard of cleanliness. The use of a locker after checkout made a real difference to my last day - also the recommendation to visit the University Botanic Gardens nearby. Very friendly and accommodating staff. I will definitely choose to stay again.
- Martin (6/5): Pleasant -
- Callum (8/5): Very good -
- Will (6/5): Pleasant -
- Deborah (7/5): Good for a stopover - Good location, near the train station It was very hot in the room, but the fan helped a little bit. The lamp by the bed did not work.
- Ross (5/5): Passable -
- Behnaz (7/5): Good -
- Hannah (5/5): Good for a low budget stay - Was clean and close to location I needed to be for 2 days. Door was stiff and couldn't get into my room. I tried to contact the staff with no answer, calls weren't answered even after several phone calls. In the end I had to ask another guest to help me, thankfully they managed to open the door but was very stressful.
Room was nice but with glass door and walls for the bathroom, there's not much privacy if you are staying with others
Shower wasn't very powerful, which was disappointing.
- Leqi (10/5): Exceptional - good location and timely reply
- Hau (9/5): Recommended for those who travel for work - The room is spacious and spotless. Check-in is super easy and quick with clear instructions. The water pressure is weak, but the water temperature is ideal.
The desk could be bigger given the size of room.
- Pamela (10/5): Bright, large room conveniently close to station. - Size of room, and location ideal
Claire was very helpful before I arrived by arranging a locker for me. She was very patient with my numerous questions! The stairs are steep and narrow. I only had backpack so was fine, but I might have struggled on my own with a bigger suitcase.
- Alan (5/5): Passable - Bed nice peaceful nice nice sleep No biscuits I'm sure that wouldn't have broken the bank
Multimedia television not working clicked onto Netflix wouldn't load internet disconnected try prime same thing shower I found very very slippery inside it needs some kind of mats of something to stop people slipping about as it is all glass
- Alan (8/5): Very good -
- Ojeda (9/5): Superb -
- Joe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Uri (9/5): Superb - Clean rooms, tiny but well organized, near the rail station, 20 minutes walk from the center.
- Lucas (10/5): Exceptional - The location, it's very clean! And very fare price!
- Howard (8/5): Good Size Clean Room, everything thing you would expect from a Hotel at a reasonable price - Good location, just a short walk into the main City, clean and tidy easy to check in
- Giridhar (9/5): Enjoyed - Neat We were fine with this but the bathroom being within the living area may be uncomfortable for others
- Arsen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Massimo (8/5): Very good -
- Neil (7/5): Would stay again. - Good value for money. Good Location. Shower door very stiff. Didn’t touch the radiators as instructed but it wasn’t particularly warm.
- Angie (10/5): Nice little Studio - The location
The facilities
The bed The glass doors in the bathroom stiff to close
The noisy pipes during the night
Room was a bit cold until heating was put on early morning
No tea towel to dry dishes
Overall nice place...just a few little things needed
- Debbie (9/5): super convenient, great value clean - the location and simplicity the pillows
- Tanzeem (6/5): Pleasant -
- Lago (7/5): Good - Nice room Front door is broken
- Penny (9/5): Superb -
- Sophie (10/5): I got the peace quiet and rest I very much needed. Thank You. - Warm quiet spotlessly clean. I had a fantastic night's sleep there. shower was a bit pathetic, but that's a detail
- Kathleen (9/5): A great functional room for a short business trip. - A clean functional room with everything you need. The toilet cistern was constantly trickling which was a little noisy.
