Guest Reviews
- roy ulset (8/5): Soverom i bolighus i et rolig boligområde ca 600m fra vakre Miami beach - Meget hyggelig eier, og beliggenhet i et bolighus i et rolig boligområde ca 600m fra vakre Miami beach. Meget god wifi. Vifte på rommet (ikke aircon). Tilgang til kjøleskap i husets kjøkken. For lite rom til å åpne/plassere 2*koffert i rommet. Lite kjøleskap på rommet, men det var ikke satt på.
- Beverley (10/5): Lovely house to stay in - Sue - and her family - were extremely helpful and friendly. A lovely family :-) NA
- Vincent (10/5): A great place to stay ! - A short walk to Oistin fish market area. Clean room and private bathroom. It was like staying with old friends. The entire home was available to be lived in. Not a thing
- Wanda (7/5): Good - Clean. Near the beach and dinner options. As a solo female traveler that was arriving after taking red eye flights and who was staying only overnight, I specifically searched for accommodations with free airport shuttle services. I paid a non refundable and was informed only a few hours before my departure that not only was there no free shuttle there was no pick up service at all. Upon arrival to Barbados I then had to organize my own transportation ( not what I wanted) who then got lost looking for the home stay ( the very thing I wanted to avoid) and to assume a cost I had to eat. While my host apologized and said she had " changed the ad" and was very personable I was out the cost of two taxi rides. As I was staying in a homestay alone, I also didn't feel I was in a position to confront my host on the matter.
Several of my recent booking.com reservations have promised amenities and services that after paying the non refundable payment seems to disappear. This may be an error/ ineptitude on the part of the those managing the hotel site or may be will fill misrepresentation. As a consumer what recourse do I have? I don't want to write negative reviews as most hosts are great people but I am also frustrated that the booking site doesn't seem to vet posts or hold accommodation providers accountable to provide what they promise. I pay ahead and then get stuck eating whatever " changes" are made after the fact.
- Audrey (10/5): There is peace and quiet and the host is exceptional - Sue’s Homestay is like being in the comfort of your own home
- Cedric (10/5): Perfect - Sue is very friendly and we could use her kitchen.
5 minutes away from the Miami Beach or the Oistins Fish Market.
The reggae-buses stop at 100 meters of her home.
- Heather (10/5): Cosy, clean and super affordable - We stayed 3 nights at Sues and couldn’t have been happier. She is lovely and makes you feel incredibly welcome. The room is very clean and has a fan which helps keep the room cool. When we stayed the shared bathroom was essentially a private one as Sue and her family use the other side of the house. The water pressure was fantastic and the bathroom very clean. The property is about a 5 minute was to Miami Beach (best beach on the island in my option) and the town of Oistins. Overall, we would definitely stay again! Thanks Sue, give the dogs a cuddle from us! Nothing to dislike.
- Joy (8/5): Excellent - Sue & her family are absolutely delightful, my husband & i were made very welcome. The advice they gave ,local knowledge & island history were extremely useful.
- Aroona (10/5): A safe place to go back and relax to after a day of fun. - Clean great, location it was perfect and Sue was so so so very nice one evening I was feeling unwell and she helped me. She was very lovely and kind. There is absolutely nothing I didn’t like.
- Michael (10/5): Lovely B&B in Oistins - Good location, easy walk to the lovely Enterprise beach and Oistins
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - Sue is an excellent person, very clean home and good location
- Audrey (10/5): The host was awesome. I felt as if I was in my own home. So welcoming and comfortable - It felt like home
- Constantin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (8/5): A reliable place to stay for transit passengers without options - I had to transit through Barbados and tried to find a reasonable place to stay. Sue's place is the only place that met the criteria. Anyway, Sue is a cheerful and nice host. Barbados is not a cheap place to stay for transit passengers. Anyway, I had hardly seen Barbados during my 15 hours' stay on the island.
- Jacob (10/5): Very welcoming hosts ! - Nettigkeit der Hosts !
- Delroy (10/5): Exceptional - Everything !!
- Matthew (10/5): Amazing stay - Amazing hosts and value!
We definitely recommend booking this place. .
- Valentine (10/5): Lovely stay for solo girl traveller :) - Sue warmly welcomed me and met me when I couldn't find the location (be aware if you're using offline MAPS ME maps - the location is different and it shows that it's located right somewhere in bushes!). She was open for a chat and patient with me! I was traveling alone, so felt safe at Sue's home and her family. The room was clean and cozy, with big mirrors, clean sheets, and a washroom. Thank you for the mini soap and mini shower gel. There's a mini fridge in the room, which is very convenient, no AC but a fan, big windows. The bananas behind the window were also lovely to see! :D I didn't have a chance to cook in the kitchen, but the kitchen was available and the atmosphere in the house was very peaceful. Thank you for welcoming me and picking up the phone so quickly when I got lost a bit!! Wish you all the best!!! The location is nice, close to Oistin's main center, but the street from the place to Oistins is VERY empty and a bit scary during the evening. I was walking alone, the sidewalk is tiny, traffic was pretty busy, cars were driving pretty fast and it didn't feel safe. I'd better rent a car next time or walk with friends, especially since Sue has a parking spot next to her place. Mini advice: take earplugs with you if you like to sleep longer than 7 am ;)
- Charlotte (9/5): Lovely people in family home - Sue and her family were warm and welcoming, she let me check in early and late. Place was clean and homely, near to Miami Beach
- Геннадій (9/5): Superb - We chose the apartment in Sue's place because we had an early morning flight, and we wanted a peaceful and hassle-free journey to the airport. The location of the apartment is excellent, within walking distance to the beach, a fish market for dinner, and a bus stop to the airport. We stayed in a separate room in the host's house, and they were very friendly and always willing to help (Sue even drove us to the bus stop in the morning). The room and bathroom were very clean, with a large bed and fresh linens. The apartment was equipped with a fan instead of air conditioning. While it was quite warm during our stay, the fan provided a decent level of comfort, allowing us to stay cool. We adapted easily and still had a pleasant experience.
- John (10/5): A safe, cozy, friendly environment where a traveller can relax in Barbados. - Everything about the accommodations and the family that are owner/operators. The location for Enterprise beach, bus terminal, and the Oistins Fish Market was perfect for walking to. A very good and adequate breakfast available on a pre- request basis. Shared bathroom was not an issue regarding other guests. Nothing really. Close to eveything I wanted to be near, and ideal for walking to anywhere, if one is looking for regular exercise.
- John (9/5): Superb - Sue is most helpful
- Pharmer (10/5): Great Stay in Barbados - I loved, loved, loved my night at Sue's Homestay!! The room was cozy and super clean. The house was beautiful and in an excellent location. It was close to beaches, close to Bridgetown, and a short drive from the airport. Sue was informative and helped me find my way to the barber shop and to Oistin's Fish Fry! Can't wait to visit again! Only wish I could have stayed longer
- Robert (6/5): Pleasant - Breakfast was good. Location was okay Bed was small. Room was cramped. Bathroom was not private. No air conditioning
- Edward (10/5): Exceptional -
- Véronique (10/5): Nice and comfy accommodation in a warm family home - Sue's house is located 5 minutes walk away from Oistins' fish market and yet, the room was super quiet at night. Sue is a great hostess, she made sure that we had everything we needed and that we felt like a part of her family. I especially loved meeting the various members of her family and having a firsthand feel of life in Barbados.
- Myrnard (10/5): The perfect home away from home. - A perfect location to go to Oistens Fish Mkt Friday night street party. Only a "block" to the bus stop to town on the jitney. A perfect place to unwind after a long flight. And the breakfast was like being home. Sue advised us about travel to town and how to get around. She arranged a pick-up for us to the Cruise terminal. Only down side was there is no AC. There were fans and we had to keep a crack in the door to get a breeze to blow thru. No cross draft. If the door had a vent in it, it would have been perfect!
- Darinka (1/5): Bad - We rented the 2 rooms that were offered and even after paying, we informed the hostess that we wanted a late check-in.
She confirmed.
When we arrived we found out that there will be no possibility of late check in because the rooms are booked by other guests. We agreed to this, provided there was somewhere to leave our luggage for a few more hours, and everything was fine so far.
When we came home after the beach around 2pm, the hostess didn't even invite us to come inside the house, there was no place to stand outside in front of the house either, and the weather was very hot. He didn't even let us use the toilet because we had already checked out. And so he left us outside, we stood like evicted and it gave us a very unpleasant feeling. We were not even allowed to use the common areas to sit and wait for our transfer. I would not recommend this home even for one night.
- Emily (10/5): Great place to stay to get to Oistin's Fish Fry and Miami Beach - Sue is friendly, kind and caring. Her home is welcoming and clean with your room having two fans, your own tv and a very cleaned shared bathroom. Less than 10 minutes to Miami Beach and Oistin's Fish fry (which you must go to!) Nothing!
- Michel (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (9/5): Superb - Everything Doors/ walls a little thin so at 6am you could here conversations on guests checking oit
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Everything about the place is as listed, and more.
First of all, Sue, who is an amazing host with a wonderful family. Both Sue and her family were extremely helpful in answering our various questions and came with a bunch of recommendations concerning what to do while in Barbados.
From we entered the Homestay and until we left we felt welcomed and almost at home.
- Jane (9/5): Superb -
- Simon (7/5): Good -
- Jacek (10/5): Lovely cosy room at a local family house. - Such a lovely room at a local family house. Sue helped us a lot with some stuff and nothing was a problem for her. The room was perfect cosy, clean and quiet. Comfortable bed. Walking distance to the heart of Oistins and busses. Thank you Sue. Absolutely no negatives :)
- Rebecca (10/5): Wonderful homestay in a great location! - We loved staying with Sue and her family. Great place to explore Oistins, reach the airport and easy to take a bus into Bridgetown!
- Bjna (10/5): It was a very homely and cosy stay. - Did not have breakfast so cannot comment. Next time I stay will have breakfast. Have no negative comments.
- Samantha (8/5): Very good -
- Tanya (10/5): Wonderful home away from home 🌺 - Sue is a very lovely and attentive person and host. Her home and the accommodation are very cozy and inviting. No complaints at all.
- Ahlers (9/5): Superb - Very pleasant host and housekeeper
- Reggie (8/5): Very good - The room was very clean with lots of storage, cool and great lighting. Location was really good, short walk into the nearby town and the beach. Sue was very informative and pleasant There wasn't anything to not like.
- Susie (10/5): A wonderful place to stay. - It was a lovely place to stay. Clean and comfy and Sue and her family were charming.
- Silvana (10/5): Exceptional - I had a wonderful time here. The house is very clean and Sue and her family are very friendly and welcoming. You can always ask Sue for an advice what to see or how to get to certain places.
The Miami Beach is in walking distance (5 to 10 minutes) and the bus station as well.
I would definitely recommend staying here.
- Beata (10/5): a very good chice of accomodation - Very good location, near to the beach, very friendly and helpful host - Sue and her family are so nice people, they make your stay really nice. on booking there is no marked exact check out time - I learnt when I arrived the check out is until 11 am - I find an info about the check out time on booking misleading.
- Timothy (9/5): Superb - the location is ideal for easy access to the capital and other attractions the host Sue, was great. very hospitable and goes the extra mile for her guests. I would definitely recommend the home stay to anyone visiting Barbados.
- Danniel (10/5): Satisfaction Guaranteed! - Sue is very welcoming, attentive and really looks out for you! She really aids you in whatever your request may be. She is indeed a gracious host.
The Homestay is located not too far from the airport and also in close proximity to various food outlets, which is very ideal. The rooms are spacious and feels very much like home. There was nothing I didn't like.
- Francia (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (2/5): Very poor - NO BREAKFAST no private access to outside
- Carol (10/5): Just what we wanted. - Ideal for overnight stay in transit. Susan and her family are delightful and helpful. The airport shuttle service is great. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful. Will use again. A very homely experience.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very nice and welcoming - They offered to pick us up from the airport at a very convenient price.
We did not have the package with breakfast and dinner, though the food smelled lovely.
We had an issue with the car rental company and Sue and her husband were very helpful and allow us to use their phone . The room was airy and clean and we really enjoyed the stay. We would go back and recommend it to friends
- Chikaodili (10/5): Excellent service - I’m so glad I decided to stay here. My trip to Barbados got prolonged due to circumstances beyond my control but their hospitality made it all bearable. Warm and friendly family, very clean and located close to the beach with easy access to buses. Walking distance of the Oistins fish market too!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful hostess who welcomed us and made us feel at home.
- Greg (10/5): Perfect place. - Great place to stay between flights Close to airport shuttle for 25.00 US. 10 min too
Oistens Lots of good restaurants. Great for short stay.
