Guest Reviews
- Joanna (10/5): - Great little place, lovely bar area with fantastic selection of beverages.
Great restaurant area serving fantastic food.
- rosemarie (10/5): - Everything was excellent. Room lovely comfy warm. Shower easy to use. Dinner was fab and delicious as was the lager. I tried it as I don’t drink but thirsty. Great. Breakfast was great too especially fried bread. Overall I would def. Go back without hesitation. Staff brilliant thanks to all.
- Jane (6/5): - Very dog friendly. A bit too much so for me in a small bar. I am slightly allergic to dogs but ok if not in close proximity.
- Susan (6/5): - Food not good. They said breakfast was 8:15 but because we had a dog it was in the bar which was fine but we never got served. We had to catch the train so did not have a lot of time so all that was available was some packages of Alpen and orange juice. Another couple told us the same had happened to them. They were going to find some help but we did not have any longer. The dinner the previous evening was not good. Cottage was great especially with a dog. Lovely area. I would not recommend this Inn.
- David (10/5): Lovely B&B pub. - An excellent and typically quaint English pub. It has it's own micro-brewery too. Charming en-suite accomodation and very hearty breakfast. The 'full Yorkshire breakfast' is highly recommended.
- Christopher (8/5): - Pleasant, traditional pub with its own brewery. Evening meal was classic pub fare, home cooked. Breakfast also traditional but hearty!
- Paul (10/5): - Good position, lots to do in the area, Good home brewed beer
- sharon (10/5): Great pub for hiking - Great 2nd stay at the New Inn. Perfect for hiking from the pub. Welcome was great as was the drink and food
- Verified traveler (6/5): Disappointed as had great reviews - Positives - The ladies serving breakfast were so friendly and chatty and the breakfast was lovely.
Other than that the rooms could really do with some TLC and the guy at the bar seemed to not want to be there at all. We were really appalled at the state of the kettle and bathroom. We wouldn't stay here again.
- Sandra (8/5): New Inn - Room was comfortable and location good for getting around the Yorkshire Moors.
Breakfast and pub food was very good.
Would stay here again.
- john (6/5): - Comfortable
Sometimes staff friendly
- stephanie (8/5): Friendly staff - Great staff in a friendly inn with nice food
- Diane (8/5): - Wood stove , real ale , lovely food .
- Michael (10/5): Relaxing new year weekend - Had a wonderful stay at a wonderful pub. Location is perfect and character of the pub is amazing. Lovely locally brewed beer and great food. Bad timing on our part that the brewery was closed so couldn't do the tour but gives u great excuse to go back.
- Paul (10/5): - Lovely old pub with log burner in bar, friendly staff and locals, made very welcome. Stayed three nights in the four poster room, situated outside of main building but ideal for our two small dogs. Home cooked meals, very good and generous, good range of ales, most from adjoining brewery.
Located in the countryside, highly recommended.
- James (10/5): - A stunning location - fantastic service. Great rooms and good food! We will be returning!
- Laura (10/5): - The cottage was lovely, clean and warm.
Meals were nice in the pub, the pies on Tuesday Pie night were very tasty!
Would definitely stay again
- Susan (10/5): Great stopover. - Nice country pub, great service. Lovely room with bath and shower. Great meals, both evening and breakfast.
- Aleksandra (10/5): - Very nice , would stay again
- Denis (10/5): Ideal one nighter if location suits you - Returning customer - very happy clean bed and bathroom, great food and beer Is there More??
single night stopover perfect.
- Marian (6/5): Ok. - We had a room above the bar, bed comfortable but the bathroom let the property down. It was old, and that’s ok but it needed a really good clean.
We ate in the bar and the food was ok, as was breakfast.it’s a nice traditional pub with rooms, not sure if we would return to stay the night.
- John (10/5): Enjoyable stay at country inn - Very enjoyable stay with friendly and helpful staff
- Nicola (10/5): Great stay - Nice friendly pub accommodation. Clean and comfortable. Lovely food . Dog friendly would recommend
- Su (10/5): - Really lovely place to stay, quiet and a lovely breakfast
- Alan (10/5): - Comfortable stay in family room nice pub atmosphere next door with good breakfast and meal options
- Nigel (6/5): Could do better? - Tired and much in need of cleaning and decoration, dark and dingy. Poor lighting in room using out-dated low-energy fluorescent bulbs. Ceiling light in en-suite not working on arrival - reported next morning - but still not repaired by departure. (FOUR NIGHT STAY!) Mugs in room not cleaned/replaced every day. Shower gel not replenished every day. Carpet not vacuumed at all during stay. However; slightly dog-friendly, which was our main reason for booking. Good beers. Food generally very good but one night of appalling chips which were, to be fair, replaced promptly; but at £90.00 per night plus cost of dinner you would not expect to have to complain about food offering; let alone anything else. Would I stay again?...only if nothing else was available nearby. Would I recommend?...doubtful.
- Jennifer (10/5): Cozy Inn of the beaten track. - Cozy Inn at the foot of the North York Moors National Park. Great service and breakfast.
- ian (8/5): nice pub - Nice local pub with a local brewery. Great selection of beer and a selection of traditional food. Place is a little dated but very clean and goid value for money.
- andrea (6/5): - l'unica cosa negativa è stato il 4 posto letto, che era un materasso posto per terra.
- Barry (10/5): - Comfortable rooms , friendly staff and good food
- Ian (6/5): - I liked the fact the accommodation wasn’t attached to the pub!
The seating in the pool room could have been more comfortable!
- Stephen (6/5): Good beer - Nice people, good food, but meal service was sliw at dinner
- Peter (8/5): - It was a great experience for my wife and I to sleep over a pub. The staff were extremely friendly. We met some wonderful people from Wells and we had a really good beer and cider. They even made us a platter of cheese and crackers.
The parking was very good, access to the pub was a little difficult due to the many staircases one had to use to get to our room. It was especially difficult getting large suitcases up, but that is natural when there are no elevators. if It was warm and cozy, the bathrooms were clean and upgraded, and the breakfast was absolutely smashing. The pub sits in a beautiful area of England and you look out onto Meadows

- John (10/5): - 10 minutes away from Pickering NYMR station. The inn itself is very cosy, staff are really good. The on-site brewery beers are great. The breakfast was excellent. It’s the best breakfast bap I’ve had in a long time. Would definitely visit again.
- Debbie (10/5): Weekend away - Lovely room in the hotel all very clean, spacious and well looked after. Hosts couldn’t do enough for us. Very friendly staff and the food was excellent all freshly cooked and piping hot.
- Geraldine (8/5): - Liked the wood fire, spacious room and bath.
- Julian (10/5): Great little b&b - We have just returned from having a 1 night break in Pickering and stayed at this little gem of a B&B.
We were on the top floor which was fine and the room was clean and comfortable.
Staff were extremely welcoming and the service was faultless.
We ordered our evening meal in the bar area and it was reasonably priced and good quality, however chips could have been more cooked.
We had a hearty breakfast and there was a good choice to be had.
We would definitely recommend this friendly little B&B set in the perfect location for exploring surrounding areas and will definitely be revisiting.
- Paul (8/5): - Lovely food.
- Heather (8/5): Lovely Inn hospitality in beautiful countryside. - I had room 10 it was like a little cottage with its own central heating controls. The bed and bedding were lovely and comfortable. Hot water was plentiful. I had the steak and ale pie for tea with included parsnip sudes, chips and broccoli it was delicious. The range of made on site real ales was impressive.
Breakfast was well presented, the full english came with locally sourced sausages. I left feeling very full.
- L A (8/5): - Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice choice of beer from brewery on offer. Food gorgeous but not vast range available. Smallish bar and restaurant. Room comfortable, nicely set up and warm. Decor needs attention with bit of damp in some areas and some dusty. Was a lovely stay.
- Gemma (8/5): Lovley little hotel, gorgeous food, lovley pub - A lovley little hotel, fab food and lovely welcoming staff. We stayed in the family room (4) it has a modern bathroom and a good sized bedroom (we didnt use the pull out bed, i expect it would be very cramped with that in use). The hotel is very old so we didnt expect it to be perfect but there is quite alot of black mould in the room, its in the corners, around the windows and on the celing, as an asthmatic this did worry me so i probably wont return due to that. I couldnt fault anything else though, the restaurant on the evening served delicious food, the breakfast was excellent and the staff were super friendly. The beds were comfortable, the rest of the room was clean, and the location was lovely.
- sharon (10/5): - Great walks from the pub. Great selection of food and drink available. Would definitely stay at the New Inn again
- Jonathan (10/5): Very welcoming stay - Very friendly welcome on arrival at this well-located inn.
Superb range of beers - of course - and some great bar food too.
We happened to be around for the weekly Wednesday quiz night, which was also very welcoming of over-nighters and good fun!
We had the four-poster room, which was pretty comfortable, if rather warm on arrival.
Would definitely recommend - and consider returning!
- ester (10/5): - Nice cosy place in the nature. We stayed for one night. The pub has good local beers, pool and darts and is beautifully decorated. The breakfast was excellent and the room felt very cosy. It could be helpful to have an extra blanket in the room. The overall was excellent and stuff very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend
- Karen (10/5): - Lovel
- Emily (8/5): - The location of the property is perfect as it is close to attractions and walking locations. The staff are helpful and friendly. The rooms are comfortable and have everything you need for a few days away.
- donna (10/5): - Had a fabulous weekend just over 4 mile to Pickering
- A (8/5): Better than expected. Loved the food - The room was much better than I expected after reading some of the reviews. The staff are very friendly and the food was lovely
- ROBIN (10/5): - Lovely location
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall we enjoyed our stay, however the sloping roof of our room made the bathroom awkward to use, the combine shower and bath was also a challenge, especially as it had no shower curtain/screen. Space in the main room was fine, with lots of storage and was comfortable and clean. The staff were helpful and friendly despite always being very busy. The Inn is in a great location to drive to many surrounding places such as Pickering for the railway and Dolby forest for walking and cycling.
- JOHN (8/5): - Last visitor's soap and shower gel left in shower, poo stuck to side of toilet
- Dean (10/5): - Set in a rural location and the staff was pleasant and very helpful. Really nice breakfast too.
- Michael (8/5): - A comfortable Inn at the southern edge of the North Yorkshire moors. It has a large car park behind the Inn adjacent to the micro brewery. A log burning fire makes a good focal point in the bar.
- Krnstwrt71 (6/5): - I expected better for money paid for room, but could complain about breakfast that was 100%, husband could have eaten more but was I was full.
