Guest Reviews
- chinamom58 (6/5): Would have skip this one on our tour - Small .. Old .. No attendees at desk when arriving .. Sagging beds .. Rough Linens .. Bathroom gave mental institution vibes .. Breakfast was just ok ..
- 491geraldm (8/5): a slightly tired but OK property. - This is a pretty good motel, but it is a little bit tired. Room service opens the windows and lets flies in. Don't let them do room service, or at least tell them not to open the windows. Breakfast OK. Location is nice: outside of town.
- pttpw (4/5): Stay away - From the reception till check out the staff were less than friendly and acted like they didn’t want to bothered. The room had the window open, and we had several flies inside the room. As the property is very close to an open field there were lots of insects, so we had to sleep with the window closed which results in it being very warm. The floor was dirty, and the shower mat was frayed. The shared kitchenette didn’t look like it had been cleaned lately. Had to wash cups and utensils before we used them. At breakfast the next morning, we had to ask to have a table cleared away so we could sit down. The buffet consisted of toast, cold hard boiled eggs, sliced cheese (1 type), sliced ham and coffee (which we had to ask for the water kettle and the coffee to be refilled). The wait staff stayed in the kitchen unless someone went to them and asked for refill (like the bread basket:(
- Govind (6/5): - We had some minor issues during our stay, the owner was quick to respond. The staff were friendly. Gave it a 3 start rating because of the issues that we had.
- Jamie Lee (10/5): - Great stay. No one available on reception as checked in late however key and room number left on the side with info regarding breakfast etc.
hot tub wonderful temperature with great views over the mountains and lots of little lamb and sheep.
Good selection of breakfast, would highly recommend.
- Vinujan (10/5): - Great staff and property, unique stay and close to the city.
Breakfast was amazing, couldn't have asked for more.
- Carol B (2/5): - There was no staff at this Inn to assist you. You had to do self check-in
Our toilet did not work so we had to telephone to get a room change. There was no water in the hot tub. The shower curtain had mold on it. Though they advertised a restaurant, the restaurant was closed. Property is very 'tired'. This is a terrible lodging.
- Linda (8/5): - It is a quiet & quaint inn. The room we stay is bigger than hotels/ hostels. Beddings are in good condition ( firm mattress & good quality duvet ). Huge parking space. There is a barn beside the inn. Breakfast is good. The nearest restaurant is in town which is 10 min drive. Grocery store is about 20 min drive. A place to rest & sleep ( no entertainment like tv )
- Nikolas (6/5): - Place was ok. Wasn’t anyone around when we got there, except after a few minutes I noticed a paper with my name and a key on the table, so I guess that was ok. Room was small, but satisfactory. No TVs in the rooms. There is an outdoor hot pool but sadly was empty when we were there. Morning breakfast was fine.
- Greg (8/5): - Cute older property wiith great view from hot tub. Loved lamb dinner and good breakfast.
- PKdisney (8/5): Just ok - The room was small and basic, but did the job. Small, private in room bath. The room was clean. Breakfast was disappointing. They had bread, fatty-looking deli meats, cheese, boiled eggs, skyr, and cereal. Something hot would have been nice.
- Manish (8/5): - Owner was very nice. Local mom-pop owned hotel. Rooms are old but comfortable.
- Xiaoyang (10/5): - Room is big and the breakfast is good
- Cynthia (8/5): - Nice
- Vallabh (4/5): - I would not book this property again. I think a 4-star rating is totally incorrect. The view of the landscape around Akureyri and distance to the town akureyri are positives but there is not much else going for it. Rooms are small - like American college dorm rooms - and bathrooms are tiny and not all that clean. Property is old, the sheep are smelly, breakfast was significantly below average. Once I have issue with this property being passed off as 4-star. That is just false.
- Rajeev Reddy (4/5): - I wonder how this hotel is shown as 4 star by Expedia and Google. The room given to us ( No.13) is very small with a tiny Bathroom, it was difficult to move around freely and the hot water stinks. One can easily hit the wooden bar placed above the sink. Breakfast is very poor with limited options like bread, fruits and cereals. Would not recommend this place.
- Judith (10/5): - It was a beautiful quiet location. We wish we would have had dinner here but we were here 10 minutes before cut off.
- David (6/5): - It's a quaint and very old building, configured to be a hotel. It is 10 kms outside of Akureyri, so don't get fooled by the address. The restaurant was very tasty food (lamb of course) but for the price, very small portions. The staff are friendly and accommodating however, no front desk staff...kinda self serve when you arrive. After a long drive, a place to rest your head but no modern upgrades or mod-cons.
- Eve (10/5): - Located on a sheep farm close to Akureyri. Small but comfortable room. Great hot tub looking out over the valley and mountains. Excellent restaurant.
- Shashi (6/5): - Decent room, beds, view. Bathroom fixtures were old and shower drain was not working well. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
- Suejee (10/5): - We arrived very late and the door was open with instructions for us. They left a thermos of coffee and tea and kettle for a herbal calming tea since we had a 9 hour drive to arrive here. Appreciated the flexibility. thank you
- Aisha (10/5): - Excellent stay! The property is located in the most beautiful area and the hot tub had a gorgeous view. Our host was kind enough to offer a tour of the property & introduce us to the sheep & their sweet lambs. The breakfast was yummy too. Definitely would recommend!
- Ganesh (10/5): Wonderful stay!!! - The hotel was nice and cozy. Nice spacious rooms with a clean bathroom. Well maintained. The best thing about the hotel was the staff. Absolutely exceptional service and helped us out so much. There was a storm in North Iceland at the time and they made sure we had the right information and were safe throughout. Would happily stay there again
- John (8/5): - Nearness to town staff was absolutely wonderful. Room was fine but Bathroom was very very small. Very peaceful and quiet. Nice area. No TV place needed some upgrading.
- Germar (10/5): - The manager, Arthur, was excellent and provided us with super service. His restaurant recommendations were great and when we told him we had to leave early at 750 am to catch our ferry to Grimsey he provided the 8 am breakfast for us at 7 am! Thank you Arthur!
- Jared (10/5): - My partner and I booked a room here last week as a last minute booking and we were beyond thrilled with the room, the service, and the breakfast! The rooms were simple, but very clean and had everything we needed! The breakfast was also simple, but wonderful and traditional. Arthur was an EXCELLENT host! Very kind, very responsive, and he introduced us to the lambs/sheep around the property. He also helped us out with a few loads of laundry after camping for two weeks. I would 10/10 recommend a stay!
- Wilbert (10/5): - Certainly, here's a review for Arthur at the Hotel Lamb Inn:
---
We recently stayed at the Hotel Lamb Inn and were absolutely delighted by the exceptional service provided by Arthur. From the moment we checked in, Arthur treated us with the utmost respect and kindness. He was always ready to assist with anything we needed, ensuring that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable.
Arthur's attention to detail and proactive approach to guest service made our visit memorable. He went above and beyond to accommodate our requests and always did so with a smile. His recommendations for local dining and attractions were spot on, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to our trip.
Thanks to Arthur, the Hotel Lamb Inn felt like a home away from home. His dedication to providing the best possible service is truly commendable. Anyone looking for a warm welcome and a pleasant stay should hope to be greeted by Arthur. He’s a standout in hospitality!
- Kristina (10/5): - Johannes and Arthur were so welcoming, after a really bad journey through the mountains and deep in high snow they looked after us making sure we had plenty of food, helped us navigate the roads and made sure we were safe, we would highly recommend staying here. A good selection for breakfast and home cooked meals on an evening to save us going out in snow. Thank you so much for everything
- Dulciawylde (10/5): Northern light show with sheep! - This is the most charming B&B we have stayed at in a long time. The owner was most gracious and hosted us for a dinner our first night with another group staying at the inn. It was a wonderful dinner of leg of lamb with veggies and cream cake for dessert. Breakfasts were hearty and the hot tub is amazing with it's own hot spring constantly filling the tub. The inn is on a working sheep farm and in the country with all the charm of farm life. The staff is very accommodating and the experience was very laid back.
The amenities themselves were fine, the double beds were comfortable but the showers could use an exhaust fan.
We were able to see the Northern Lights from the parking lot making it a fantastic part of the trip. The inn is also very close to the town, airport and Lake My'vatn. It was a perfect home base for us to experience Northern Iceland.
- Dilavarsing (10/5): Great service and location - Very nice hotel with great service and good location.
- Odette (10/5): - Upon our arrival to check-in, I learned that I had reserved a room in error for the following night.
Luckily, Luna was very accommodating and able to arrange for us to stay in the last room available. The room was clean and spacious with beds that were comfortable. The breakfast, which was included, was delicious. My family and I were very appreciative of the staff's
flexibility and would highly recommend staying here.
- Jeffery (10/5): - Our favorite stay on our 10 day ring road trip by far.
The lamb dinner dish was the best meal I’ve had in Iceland. And I ate A LOT yummy dishes on this trip.
- Raymond (10/5): - The cottage-style guest houses with beautiful ocean view
- Timothy G (8/5): - Quiet, beautiful location, 8 km from Akureyri. We had a room at the back of the building, with a beautiful view across the valley. We ate here in the evening, and were very impressed - lamb is not just in the name, but a speciality of the kitchen. Only criticism is that in some ways the room looked a bit tired and in need of updating, but it was certainly clean.
- Alexander (8/5): - Spacious room for 4. Breakfast was good with a good variety. Check in and check out was quick.
We were in room 14 and could hear someone walking in the room upstairs. Also the shower drain plugged but we got someone to fix it immediately.
- 423carolyno (4/5): Think before booking - The Inn needs a renovation, it looks like they tried to do a DIY in the room but failed. We unfortunately were booked here through our tour operator but will inform him that this is not the place to put people until they do proper updates. The mattress was horrible. The Inn is about 10 minutes from the center. This city is so charming with all the places available to choose from if you have a choice I would choose another
- Adam (10/5): - This was a clean and comfortable B&B for the price. Not far out of town in a nice rural environment. Breakfast was simple but good continental.
- Thomas (10/5): Zero complaints from me! - I read the mixed reviews and had apprehensions but turned out fine! Easy to find, great view down the valley to town and efficient check in - name and room number left at front desk, collect your key and done Same to check out Decent sized room and shower, the included buffet breakfast was great and a bonus in this expensive country. I can’t complain about any aspect of my stay here
- Pawan (4/5): - Squeaking floor in the room which is in front of eating area. Lot of steps noise from reception in this room. No toilet paper and no wifi in the room. Although lady at the reception who was also working in the kitchen was very helpful.
- Graeme (10/5): - Just a little out of Akureyri, but in a beautiful setting in the vally
- K9303RCjohnc (4/5): Skip the restaurant - We stayed for one night and had dinner at the restaurant. The accommodations were okay, but we would definitely recommend finding another place for dinner. The website made the restaurant sounds so terrific that we were really looking forward to it (locally sourced foods, award winning lamb dishes) especially since we had enjoyed so many terrific meals in Iceland already. Unfortunately, the award winning lamb dish looked like a cafeteria meal and the peas tasted like they came out of a can. The arctic char was better and was a decent portion. Despite the mediocre food, the prices were similar to those at many of the other finer restaurants we ate at which truly had chef quality meals with interesting arrangements and taste combinations. The waitstaff seemed very disinterested as well. We ordered a bottle of "Italian Red Wine" and received two glasses of wine. When I mentioned it, they brought out a half bottle of a Chilean Cabernet and put it on the table. Not that we are fussy, but the service was just pretty bad for a restaurant of this price range. I don't think that I had another meal in Iceland that I didn't enjoy fully in our entire 10 day stay, but this restaurant is one to avoid unless you don't have another option.
- Claire (6/5): - Country feel! Loved the view! Very cute family run inn
- 575kg (10/5): Great place to stay - Highly recommend this place. It is located about 10 mins drive outside the town and is lovely and quiet. We'll placed for travel to Myvatn as not far from the tunnel. My room had lovely views and was well appointed including a small dining table. There was a kitchenette shared with one other room. Breakfast was good and the food in the restaurant was tasty. A great base for exploring the local area.
- Cody (10/5): - Awesome place.
- Brandon (10/5): - Travis hotel is a nice “Mom & Pop” place where you truly feel comfortable. Located on the outskirts of Akureyri, the room was spacious enough for us, the breakfast was tasty and their customer service was quite welcoming
- Dee (8/5): - Clean, spacious room. Breakfast was good. We could hear the guests above us walking around, but wasnt too bad
- Shih-ou (4/5): - very old building,
- April (8/5): - Basic accommodation but the surrounding area is quiet and beautiful. Homemade food for dinner and breakfast, a very friendly host, comfy beds and good shower. We had the best ice cream in Iceland at this hotel! Also very good lamb and fish stew.
- 226edh (8/5): One night stay - Stayed on night. Cozy place just outside of town. Farm stay. They leave keys at desk. Nice room. Clean and quiet. Did not eat dinner but breakfast was the standard and fine. They have a hot tub which was nice. Big hallway with a sitting area. No TV but good Wi-Fi. Staff that was working in kitchen was helpful since there was no one at front desk. Nice stay.
- Fred Baker (10/5): - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
- 557vyc (4/5): Vacation - Our room is infested with flies before we even enter our room. The room is old and the shower drainage is bad. We got water flow out of the shower. Please be aware that the towels are really rough. By the way, there will be a beautiful dog that will greets you which is a nice thing. The room is spacious and the young ladies that work there are very nice. Really disappointed with the room but still in love with Iceland and its beauties.
- Chris (10/5): - Clean and quiet. Good simple breakfast with tasty coffee.
- Wee Chieh (8/5): - Very classic and pleasant stay
- Arthur (8/5): Decent stay. - A bit old. Small room. But clean and comfy. Breakfast was good.
- Debra (6/5): - Expedia description did not match property. It is not a working farm. Property was dingy, lack of proper lighting.
- Don (10/5): - The location was nice for north Iceland sites. Good dining options locally. The host is very nice and provides a great breakfast.
- Susan (10/5): - We had a lovely 2 night stay at Lamb Inn. The host and other staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The hot tub was divine. We also were lucky enough to have a dinner there, since the kitchen wasn’t officially open, and it was amazing. They were also happy to accommodate our group member who doesn’t eat meat. I highly recommend Lamb Inn!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lamb Inn an overall good stay and experience - Big and comfortable 4 bed room with private bathroom.
Clean and neat.
The owner and the staff were very welcoming and friendly.
Many animals around to pet, sheep, dogs and cats.
- Makenzie (10/5): - We went to Iceland in the middle of February when the roads were packed with ice and snow. We spent three nights at the Lamb Inn and the service was excellent! Matt was so kind and helpful when we needed advice on road conditions…and even brought us dinner when we were snowed in! Couldn’t have asked for a better to place to stay.
- patriciah913 (10/5): An amazing dinner - The place is quaint and well kept. Basic room, clean and comfortable. The highlight of the stay was the 3 course dinner, starring Lamb. If you stay here, and you do not eat here, you are missing out on one of the best meals in Iceland.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Had a nice and comfy stay - The place was pretty clean. The hot tub was nice and relaxing and they clean it daily.
- petero251966 (8/5): Quiet, in the country side with large rooms - 10 minutes away from Akureyri you find this inn in the country side. The rooms are dated but large and clean enough. There is also a hot tub and you can have nice views of The Valley. Rooms have no TV or phone.
Otherwise pretty average hotel. Reception is not always occupied, when we had a problem with the flush toilet we had to call them.
- D179XNkevinm (10/5): Lovely location. Friendly and helpful staff. - On our circuit of Iceland’s ring road, we stayed here for one night, as it was convenient for Akureyrie and an easy drive to Husavik.
There’s no TV or coffee making facilities in the room but it’s great value for money and in a lovely rural spot with great views, only a ten minute drive into town.
The following morning we had to be in Husavik by 9:15, so wanted to leave by 8:00. We were told that breakfast isn’t served until 8:00 but, because of our schedule, they were so helpful in preparing our breakfast a bit earlier so we could get away on time. It was no trouble for them.
We hoped to dine at Fimbul (the restaurant on the same site), but were unable to as they had a large group booking.
I’d definitely recommend this lovely place, if you’re exploring the country.
- budgettraveller1987 (10/5): Spacious Room, Very Clean - We stayed one night here-room was clean with plenty of space. Unfortunately we had to leave before breakfast was we had an excursion in Husavik which was disappointing. My only frustration was that our room was right beside the outside smoking area. Thankfully we were not bothered by the smoke smell, but the people chatting outside did disturb us as we got to bed. It would be great if the owners could relocate the smoking area away from rooms.
It is a pretty quick trip in to Akureyri if you need to go out for dinner while staying there. Area is quiet and very pretty.
- frederickg356 (10/5): Amazing food, warm hospitality - We (family of three) stayed two nights, ate two trully excellent dinners, the best in many a trip. Breakast was also good. Exceptional warm hospitality, cozy place, hot tub, beautiful setting. Aurora and Matt (who I think took the place over just before Covid) are doing a good thing here.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cozy and relaxing place a few minutes from city - Very cozy place, in a quiet location just few minutes from the city. Decor is amazing bringing you back to another time and makes you feel at home. Breakfast is great and the homemade items are delicious. Sad that their kitchen was not open for dinner during my stay, I read that their food is delicious.
- Zhenxin (8/5): Zhenxin - Good
- KW (10/5): - Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Hot tub view was fantastic.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The lovely huge bathtub in the living-room was unique ☺️
The beds in the cubbies were great and the master bedroom was fantastic.
The special room service because of our late arrival was appreciated as was the wonderful breakfast.
The only issue was the wifi poor connection, but it was an isolated location and a night without internet isn’t necessarily a negative thing. 👍
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a unique and refreshing inn. Johannes and Carl were experienced and gracious hosts.
- JF (8/5): - Lovely setting. Fairly close to Akureyri. Very nice owner - even sat and chatted with us as we were the only ones down for breakfast at that time. We noted an issue with a window in our room that didn't close all the way. Had to use a towel to block air coming in, but not a big deal. Would have been nice to have hot water pot in room, but it was available in common area which wasn't too far away. nice homemade goodies at breakfast. Highly recommend!
