The location is simply beautiful, and from the moment you arrive you feel warmly welcomed by the lovely and attentive staff. What makes it especially charming is the sense of community. Downstairs there’s a wonderful little curios shop where Frank sells African ornaments and unique pieces, which adds so much character to the stay. It’s these small, personal touches that make the experience feel special and authentic. The food is consistently good, and the overall atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. Another highlight is the proximity to Boulders Beach—you can easily go early in the morning and enjoy watching the penguins in peace before the crowds arrive. All in all, it’s a warm, welcoming place with a great spirit. We always look forward to coming back.
afivaz412633 (10/5): Easy stay - It was perfect for a two night stopover in Simonstown during our visit to the Cape. You can't get closer to Boulders beach. The little cafe is darling and the coffee excellent. We didn't end up eating there but the food looked very tasty. Staff were incredibly friendly and the space was more than sufficient for our needs. Will definitely visit again.

Seaside13018483979 (10/5): Place to be - BBL is located directly infront of the sea. The views from the diningroom and the outside space is spectacular. We booked 3 rooms and they where all very clean and functional. Although the Lodge isn't the newest anymore, everything was very nicely decorated and very stylish. The staff was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Breakfast, tea and coffee where excellent. I wish we could have stayed longer. The beach is one of the nicest I've seen so far and seeing the penguins just around the corner was a highlight. Having a parking lot right infront of the lodge is very conveniant. Highly recommended!
AnnaDWellington (10/5): Perfect gem of a lodge to explore Boulders, Simonstown and Cape Point - This is a lovely small and friendly lodge just off the beach at Boulders. Walking distance to see the penguins early in the morning before all the coach loads arrive. Parking just opposite. Breakfast and dinner were delicious especially the burger. Comfy beds, large hot shower with plenty of hot water. Don't expect a 4 or 5 star hotel but do anticipate a relaxing comfortable place.

bryanak2017 (8/5): A charming hotel on the water, penguins and cassies everywhere. - It's an older, but well-maintained hotel just steps from the waterfront. The photos are accurate. My room was simple and a bit on the small side, but it was clean and comfortable, not to mention very affordable. There are communal areas inside and out where you can lounge or use a laptop. The wifi was great. The restaurant had some great food. Staff are terrific. Cigarette smoke could be annoying at times. I imagine the room could be somewhat chilly in the middle of winter.

Harold (10/5): - This cozy property was conveniently located right at Boulders Beach with easy access to the beach and penguins waddling through the parking lot at sunrise. Parking was a little crowded during the day but cleared out in the evening. The on-site restaurant offered tasty dinner and we were always met with friendly staff. We were also an easy drive from Simon's Town for other food options. Cape Point was a bit of a drive, maybe 45 minutes but made for an excellent day outing! The room was clean with a well-stocked kitchenette, nice shower, and warm blankets for the chilly weather we encountered. Overall, a very lovely place to stay!
Martin (10/5): - Cannot recommend this place enough. If you are looking for a Hilton, this is not for you. It is a very friendly small hotel right next to the penguins. The staff so friendly and helpful and the food was way beyond what I was expecting. Could not do enough for us. Thank you.

They said they removed the TV, and installed a strong Wi-Fi router, we had very little to no reception in our room, I think it was room no 9, we did ask for a room with a sea view, was told they had none. Was put in a room facing the courtyard. I had booked well in advance and paid in fill.

mishalbarday (6/5): One night boulders stay - Good location- located just outside the boulders beach entrance. Nice cafe downstairs. More halaal options would be appreciated. The accommodation was ok. The hot water took a long time to come on and when it did the water was brown in colour. We stayed there with our 3 kids (5 years old, 2 years old and 2 month old). It got a bit stuffy although they do recommend that the window in the bathroom is to remain open- only downside of that are bugs entering. The front office also closes at 5pm so no continues front desk service available.

debbieslobe (10/5): Quaint retreat right next to pengiun beach - We loved, loved, loved our stay at Boulders Beach Lodge. We rented the two-bedroom and it had everything we needed, including a fully equipped kitchen. The location is perfect, directly in front of the African Penguin colony, so close that you had to check under your car for penguins before driving out of the parking lot! The staff were very friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed a nice breakfast and coffee at their little cafe. We would definitely stay here again!

Had coffee and pancakes for breakfast from the kitchen facility alongside verandah which was really good so we ordered lunch from them again later that same day - really nice food!

There was a fan available, and that had to suffice while the heat was intense during our stay. Through no fault of the host, the wind blew strongly for three days, but nevertheless it was an enjoyable stay. We preferred Ceylon tea rather the Rooibos, which was on offer.

DaleM875 (8/5): Family Stay - Our stay was very enjoyable and everyone had a great time. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. Everything was neat and clean. Being at Boulders beach it was extremely busy which we expected, however parking is a big problem and we often had to park miles away and move the cars later at night to get a parking. We where a big party of 10 and ordered dinner at the hotel one evening, everyone was disappointed with their meals, the dinner menu is newly introduced and hopefully they will get the quality of food up to a better standard. One of our rooms was Fair View and we had at least 4 to 6 people every day trying to enter our apartment to use the bathrooms, its just a little unclear what's the restaurant, private accommodation or reception, maybe some more signage. We will definitely be back.

I had read an earlier post that they did not serve dinner. That must have changed recently as their cafe was open until 7:30 pm. Closed early, but helpful to just hang out as we only arrived late afternoon.

Saraphina (8/5): - This is a great property for penguin spotting as the penguins were right outside the property after the carpark. The front desk and cafe at the property will close after 5pm though so you need to ubereats or drive out for dinner. It can be very dark outside and the property is not enclosed so strangers can come to your room, so do remember to lock your door. This property has no AC and one small portable fan is provided in the room. The room can get stuffy in Summer. Property has no carpark of its own so you need to park your car outside the property which is an open public carpark. So park at your vehicle at your risk.

Frank (10/5): - Solo Traveler. I really like this property and I think it has a lot of potential. I only stayed one night, but it brought back memories I had as a child traveling in Northern California. What I Liked: (1) Staff (2) Ambience Vibe (3) Views and Penguins. What are some issues: (1) No Liquor License although as of this date the property is applying for one, and hopefully when that is issued they will keep the restaurant open in the evening. (2) Noise. It does not bother me, but the nature of the property is such that you can hear everything other guests are doing. There are "Quiet Zone" signs, but even so, if you are a light sleeper this Hotel may not be for you. (3) For my room at least, the bathrooms need to be upgraded. Overall a great experience and a good value. I would stay again.
Delphine (8/5): - Twin room highly inadequate in terms of space for two people with two normal sized suitcases. Noisy walkway. Windows difficult to open.

Dennis (10/5): You can't get any closer to the penguins than this - The rooms and staff are nice, but what puts this hotel far ahead of any other is its adjacency to the penguins. Getting out to see them early in the morning is easy because the path is right there, and even better is the nighttime, when penguins cross the parking lot to go up to their spaces in town!
Thomas (6/5): - Das Zimmer Nr 1 ist abgenutzt am Waschbecken gab es kein kaltes Wasser der Wasserhahn war defekt. Beim Frühstück wurden wir vergessen und haben 1 Stunde gewartet. Die Türe zum gemeinsamen Aufenthalt war abgeschlossen so dass wir nicht hinein kommen konnten. Die anderen Zimmer sahen von außen gut . Wir kommen aber auf jedenfall nicht wieder.

Zimmer klein aber ganz nett eingerichtet Es gab leider keinen passenden Steckdosenadapter,,keinen Fön , Frühstück ( Müsli) war schrecklich mit Aufpreis 70 R, absolut nicht zu empfehlen, Toilettenspülung defekt Die Unterkunft lebt von der Top Lage
Lian (8/5): Great little hidden gem - Very basic accommodation but location is perfect, right in boulders beach. Staff are super friendly, communal fridge to store drinks and food. Rooms do not have a fridge or Tv. U can take your own drinks and have take aways on the stunning veranda and watch the sunset. The receptionist Cailin is so professional.
Chris (8/5): Penguin Paradise - The delightful penguins that waddle all around this lodge make this a a unique place to stay. The staff are friendly and helpful. For example, the General Manager volunteered to personally drive us to the places we wanted to see in Cape Town. We ate in the restaurant each of the three nights we were there and enjoyed all our meals. Very much recommended as an alternative to staying in Cape Town.

Our room was clean, comfortable and reasonably sized, the staff were first class, helpful and accommodating, and the restaurant food was excellent. Would recommend to anybody & everybody.

Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointing experience - Definitely on the list of the 5 worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Don’t show up after dark - despite calling ahead to let them know we’d be arriving late we had to wait outside for 10 minutes before the night time “security guard” meandered over to let us into our room. There was no bottled water available nor anywhere to buy anything at night in a reasonable distance - make sure to plan ahead and bring your own. Luckily we had iondine tablets. Breakfast was a joke - it was supposed to come with a coffee and juice per person But they couldn’t make our coffee due to a power outage. We asked for a bottle of water (45 R) instead of 2 coffees (35R per coffee) and were told it wasn’t allowed. We even offered to not have the juice either - still no. To top it off it was the worst eggs Benedict I’ve ever had. And they held us hostage for 10 minutes to pay for the water since the credit card machines were acting up due to lack of power despite having confirmed before getting the water that we’d be able to pay with a card.

Kyoko (10/5): ペンギン好きな人のためのロッジ - 3度目の滞在です。ロッジからペンギンのいるビーチには、徒歩ですぐです。テラスで食べる朝食は10種類ほどのメニューから選べ、とても美味しいです。コーヒーも、スタンダードなコーヒーから、エスプレッソやカプチーノまで選べます。朝食時間が午前8時から11時半までと長いのがいいですね。朝早く出発する人には、前日に朝食分を渡してくれるようです。Wi-Fiは公共部分のみで、部屋ではほとんどつながりませんでした。お部屋はシンプルですが快適で、冷蔵庫と湯沸かしは付いていました。ケープペンギンを見たくなったら、また訪問すると思います。
Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful spot to stay while penguin watching. Couldnt be any closer. The sign in the parking lot asks you.to check under your car for penguins before leaving. By the way there is a front desk, just up the steps, left of the restaurant.
Gabrielle (6/5): Convenient location. Hotel OK. - The hotel is really well situated next to the beach for penguin viewing. You do need a car and parking may be a bit difficult depending on the season. The hotel gives you a paper for your car to allow parking in the "red zones". Rooms have no air conditioning which generally shouldn't be an issue (check the forecast)... The restaurant is OK but much better options can be found in town...
Verified traveler (10/5): ペンギンビーチに歩いて行けます - いわゆるペンギンビーチに徒歩で行くことの出来るホテルです。ペンギンに会いに行くには周辺は駐車場が少ないため、宿泊者用駐車場は重宝しますね。また泳いでもすぐ着替えられ、とても立地は良いです。朝食も良かったです。
Christopher B (10/5): - If you want to be right on the water, I don't think there's a better place anywhere on the peninsula. You're step from Boulder's Beach, and the patio deck for breakfast and drinks later overlooks False Bay. The snorkeling at Windwill Beach is outstanding and is about a 5 min walk away. The staff are exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The only reason I took a bit off was that checking in late night was a bit of a mess. The staff leave early evening, and the nightwatchman isn't set up to handle check in. But write them ahead of time and you'll be fine. We got stuck in a lesser room the first night, but the very understanding manager put us in an upgraded room for our other nights, so it all evened out. If being close to the water is important to you, this is where you should be. A great value for the price. Wifi in our stay was ok in common areas, but I think turned off at night. Breakfast is delicious, and the coffee is really good, too! If you're around for a few days, I recommend driving over to the west side for a sundowner cocktail- spectacular!

Verified traveler (10/5): For nature and penguin lovers - Very friendly staff. Comforatable room and amenities. Although there are not much around the hotel, penguins and mornimng walk around the coast is much worth the value. Highly, very highly recommended if you love nature and penguins!
Ove (10/5): Pingviner, pingviner och pingviner - Läget vid Boulders beach är helt perfekt och vi mötte ett par precis utanför vår rumsdörr. 5 minuters promenad till stranden där man kan simma tillsammans med dem. Rummet var enkelt men rent och fint. Frukosten var inte speciellt bra vad gällde valmöjligheter, lite snålt att inte både kaffe och juice ingick utan det var att välja eller betala extra. Personalen var genomgående trevliga och hjälpsamma.
