Guest Reviews
- Alex (8/5): - Location and friendly staff lovely building and room was very nice Mattress a bit uncomfortable
- Marcin (8/5): -
- steve (7/5): Good staff let down by rundown facilities. - The staff were very helpful. They tried to make stay best they could but where let down by the facilities which were very tired and in need of updating lots rooms got wallpaper stripped. facilities which were very tired and in need of updating lots rooms got wallpaper stripped. We was on c2c cycle ride (as was others). No real place to store cycles apart from a rear alley. Could do with a shed to lock.
- Karen (9/5): Comfortable and interesting - Breakfast was nice, okay? Location okay? TV reception was poor
- Alex (9/5): -
- Yvonne (6/5): Lovely town, lovely hotel hence why we went back this year but I’m afraid next year we will be looking elsewhere. - Good location breakfast was nice although had to wait over 40 mins from ordering to receiving it Bar wasn’t open during stay. Not notified any renovations being carried out not that there was noise or anything from it but had we known bar wasn’t available when we were on a weekend holiday would have booked elsewhere. We were told that the male that served us last year got fired as they had kept the bar open for residents last year. We were served by a female last year. On our arrival another guest told us that the staff had stated that if they wanted bar open there would be no breakfast in the morning for anyone
- Paul (9/5): - Extrem freundliches Personal, grosses Zimmer, umfangreiche Ausstattung inkl. Fön und Bügeleisen, Kaffee,Tee , Smart TV.
Innenstadt fußläufig 10 Min Hellhörig, am Samstag Abend auch spät noch laut
- paul (10/5): - This was an excellent find. Room was brilliant, breakfast fantastic. 10 minutes walk to the harbour. Would definitely recommend 👌
- Christine (8/5): Good location - Location, large car park, nice breakfast, friendly staff Room near road, very noisy traffic even with windows shut. Could hear every word people in next room saying.
- Barnes (8/5): - Good size room and friendly The shower curtain over the bath was horrible and it clung to me.
- Robert (8/5): -
- Coupe (8/5): - Location close to Corkickle station and town centre, ample parking and good value. Breakfast was good Evening meal was poor quality and the bar was pricey.
- David (8/5): Good value great location - Near station and lovely grounds All good
- Mark (10/5): Great value. Friendly, helpful staff. - Great room. All the facilities. More than met expectations. friendly, helpful staff. Nothing
- Emma (8/5): Nice relaxin stay with good food and great suroundings. - Very nice setting. Plenty of parking and food was amazing in the restaurant.
All staff were very welcoming and very polite. Matress a bit worn.
- Chris (10/5): -
- Ann (10/5): The lady who served our breakfast on three of our days was excellent. Especially as my husband was taken ill and had to - Nicely situated. Unfortunately the workmen were in and we were unable to use all facilities but happy with what we could use Nothing
- Frances (8/5): - Location for our purposes was excellent I understand Hotel is undergoing renovation work's in main part's of hotel making it appear tired with wallpaper being in process of being taken off in area of bar and where evening meal served
- Lyndsey (10/5): -
- Atkinson (3/5): No more bookings - Lovey grounds The food on the evening
- ruth (10/5): took train to ravensglass to go to muncaster castle. fortunately someone drove by and I got info ho - bus stop across the street. train station close by. food OK they needed to hire more staff--the check in gal was the bar tender and waitress. she was very nice but hard to find sometimes.
- Christopher (9/5): - Good location with 15mins walk to centre of Whitehaven.
Beds were comfy
There was some modernisation going on but didn't affect our stay
- Angela (5/5): Great price, comfy bed 🥰 - The staff are nice, breakfast was nice, the bed was so comfortable, we slept very well. The hotel is a little dated, the bar area has seen better days.
- Lisa (6/5): - Staff very helpful, we had issue with room and Kay was very helpful and sorted us a swap. Had to move rooms as bay window leaking from ceiling during rain storm.
Toilet flush issues as was leaking onto floor.
Also in this room toilet faces shower but gives very little leg room when on toilet if your a tall person. Both myself and husband had issues using toilet. Myself due to knees touching shower the husband same issue and has size 15 feet so had to tuck feet under you to go toilet. Not very comfortable at all.
Changed room solved all these issues
- Keily (6/5): - Lives the staff and the breakfast was fabulous.
Lady in the dining hall was extremely pleasant and couldn't do enough to make us comfortable The hotel was being refurbished, so it was a bit of a mess. We weren't told prior to booking.
Needs alot of work to be a good standard and because of this would have expected lower rates.
Dead wasp upstairs on the carpet for 2 days.
I informed the hotel prior to staying that it was my partners birthday, but no effort had been made in the room.
We couldn't find anywhere decent to eat in whitehaven, so we drove to St Bees.
People spitting on the floor, drugs, and just quite simply down and outs everywhere.
Whitehaven was extremely rough, very poor indeed, and needs a huge amount of money to bring it up to lake district standards!
- siobhan (6/5): Lovely hotel food and staff but overly warm in the hotel - Breakfast was lovely, room was lovely and had just what we needed
Staff were lovely The hotel was like a sauna I needed to go outside to get fresh air and to cool down as it was really warm and sometimes too warm which really made me feel it impacted my stay a little
- Sally (8/5): -
- Zoe (8/5): - Location Bed and pillows weren't very comfortable
- GARRY (8/5): - Short walk to town A little dated and in room 7 on the top floor the shower never got hot water
- Michael (1/5): Disappointing - The location is great, with a short walk to the quayside The hotel was full but they were short staffed, its scruffy bit going through a refurb, ordered breakfast but never got it but we were refunded the cost of breakfast
- John Dawes (8/5): Country walk & Tour of the Whitehaven area. - The hotel and location for the purpose of our visit was ideal, nice quiet surroundings and a lovely sun terrace , close to the railway station and a short walk into Whitehaven Town centre. The full English breakfast was very good with a generous plate. Nothing to dislike, would definitely book again.
- JP (9/5): The staff are AMAZING! So helpful, friendly & food is great! Such a nice place to stay - Room was really good It’s under repairs so it’s not at its best but that’s ok.
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Douglas (7/5): Ok - Breakfast choice good.
Dinner menu too expensive. Didn't eat there. To pay these dinner price and have to eat in the bar was not to my taste. So we didn't .
- William (6/5): -
- CathyJ86 (10/5): -
- Timothy (3/5): Tired hotel needing some imaginative TLC. - It’s well located with lots of parking. The room was clean. No hot water and no food available.
- david (8/5): Good location with clean facilities plus an excellent breakfast - Good Location but stairs can be an issue to some as there is no lift and this should be mentioned within the advertisement of the property Clean Victorian property and currently being renovated
- Williamson (9/5): Friendly and very helpful staff -
- Sameet (10/5): -
- Julia (8/5): Lovely hotel - The bedrooms were very cosy and comfortable. The lady who served our breakfast on Sunday and Tuesday was lovely and very helpful. The breakfasts were very nice too and everything was freshly cooked. There was redecorating going on which we didn't know about so the ambience and furnishings of the main communal area wasn't what we expected. Saying that the night staff did open the bar for us on Sunday evening as we like an evening drink.
- John (6/5): I was just unlucky that refurbishment was underway and boiler had broken down but was clean and I would stay again. - Friendly and helpful staff. Room needs a touch of paint but was clean and decent facilities eg coffee/ tea making facilities, iron and ironing board and hairdryer Wasnt informed beforehand that lounge /dining area was being refurbished. No Evening meal or somewhere to sit and have coffee while waiting for room to be available also unfortunately, no hot water but was told engineer was due. Hot water back on when I returned to hotel that evening.
- Claire (8/5): - Very friendly staff, spotless room, fabulous location and good breakfast. Only reason I've marked the comfort down is that our room was top floor and a little chilly but it's an old building, it'll be cold in winter, very hot in summer up there.
Bathroom had a slight issue getting hot water but this did work with a little patience in running the taps. Overall a nice place to stay and can't fault the staff, hard working team.
Me and my best friend agreed we'd stay again if back in the area. Just the room was a little cold but the receptionist did close the window (we travelled during a spell of high winds)
- Peter (5/5): Not a great stay as no hot water - Location, Staff & Restaurant No hot water for the whole stay.
Mentioned to staff and said plumber had been informed. Not quite the emergency response you would expect and no offer of any compensation for a fundemental need.
- Wendy (10/5): -
- Rochell (10/5): -
- JulieStudio369 (7/5): - Breakfasts were great, staff were helpful, location was good and history of venue was interesting. Room cleaning was daily which seemed excessive but was nice. Lack of soundproofing, Uncomfortable bed springs, toilet flush wasn't easy or efficient, no fridge in room.
- Sandra (6/5): -
- Christopher (8/5): Nice hotel, helpful staff, would stay again. - Clean, friendly staff, nice cooked breakfast. Nothing
- Stephen (8/5): -
- Jakub (10/5): -
- Gillian (7/5): Hotel was OK but Whitehaven itself is not a nice place. Very run down. Won’t be visiting again. - Clean. Friendly staff. Good breakfast Property a little tired.
- Elaine (10/5): - Very welcoming N/a
- martin (10/5): - Staff very friendly. Good parking. Excellent breakfast and evening meals. Nothing not to like.

- Darren (10/5): - Brilliant and a pleasure to stay again 100%
- Glen (8/5): -

- Cliff (10/5): Very friendly and accommodating staff. - Good location great food comfy bed. Nothing not to like.
- Doris (9/5): - Convenient Location, nice rooms. Everything was great
- Anthony (9/5): The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff - Staff very friendly and helpful. Room clean warm and quiet. Breakfast was excellent. Good car park and great location for the hotel Room needs modernisation especially the shower
- Anthony (9/5): Met expectations. - Staff, breakfast Room had a slight musty smell on arrival opened window to let in fresh air to overcome.
- David (10/5): Great stay . Natives really friendly. - Spacious room and very comfortable. Good location for a short walk in town. On a bus route if required.
- Sally (7/5): -
- Martin (10/5): -
- paul (10/5): -
- Dale (4/5): Ok Hotel but location was too far out of town - Room was fine, breakfast was very good
Bar has good selection of drinks and cooked meals
location is a bit out of town
Large secure car park The hotel is a bit too far from the town. No Ubers around there and local taxis are hit and miss if you can get one to come that far to fetch you to go into town. We had to walk 20 minutes to town which I suppose is ok in the summer but we stayed there in January.
I did try to book again for a second stay but it wax too expensive so found another place right in town with a sea view which was better and cheaper and next to a Wetherspoons so a bonus really
- Daniel (10/5): - Location, Parking, beds, facilities.
- Rochell (10/5): -
- Toby (8/5): - Location for the rugby and friendly staff, closer to the harbour, lovely balcony, large carpark. Lovely breakfast. No food Sunday evening, hotel needs a little TLC, looks like that is work in progress.
- Elizabeth (6/5): - Breakfast was limited
- Fatih (9/5): -
- Andrew (9/5): Perfect for Whitehaven visit. Highly recommended. - Location, lovely building, plenty space, large doors and rooms. Nice bar area and dinning facilities. Cooked breakfast and other options were very nice. Have to mention the young lady who appeared to be running the place from reception. Very friendly and helpful, going beyond what is expected to make our short stay a smooth running and enjoyable one. Nothing, all good.
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Kevin (10/5): - Comfy warm room with fantastic cooked breakfast Nothing
- Gary (8/5): All good would stay again. - Lovely staff lovely breakfast great location. Place needs a bit of decorating but it’s an old building so expected.
- Janet (10/5): A great hotel with lovely staff - The staff were tremendous
The hotel is warm and comfortable. Plenty of parking spaces, and an easy walk into town
- Rochell (10/5): - Always stay here when visiting relatives can't fault it
- aude (9/5): - Hotel et restaurant très bien Na
- Karl (10/5): - Friendly and attentive staff... Great location for access to whitehaven Town centre and West Cumbria...
- Paul (8/5): - It exudes charm although there are areas that need improvement. I had the sense that the hotel is being renovated quietly and discreetly
- Yunda (4/5): -
- Maureen (4/5): Hotel was expensive for level of experience. - Food service was quick both at evening service & breakfast, however, there were limited people in dining at the time. Decor/rooms was tired - shower pressure was pretty weak & shower head spray was a bit wonky
Although hotel itself was quiet, I could hear everything of adjacent occupant on 2nd night of my stay
Rooms were very warm (had to turn off heating, but still warm & stuffy)
- RAM (10/5): Excellent place at nice location. -
- Anthony (9/5): -
- Scott (10/5): Anytime working in that area again will be my choice - Breakfast and evening meal were great
Housekeeping excellent room always fully cleaned restocked over a 5 day stay and the towel art from Sophie was great to come back and see after a day at work Weather
- Carol (10/5): - Great location. Close to the harbor and trailhead for hiking. We walked from Whitehaven to St Bees and then took the train back. The station is a 5 minute walk from the hotel.
We had the family room which was large and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
- Edwin (10/5): pleasantly surprised - comfortable room, friendly & helpful staff. breakfast & evening meal superb, made to your choice freshly when ordered. Thoroughly enjoyable, well recommended.
- David (7/5): A nice hotel and ideally placed for our days out, shame about the weather. - There was plenty of choice at breakfast and evening meal which was good value for money and a nicely stocked bar. The grounds were well maintained. The bathroom light was on a sensor and went off at times when it wasn't expected to. The bed quilt was a little heavy so was too warm for comfortable sleep.
- Jessica (9/5): An excellent hotel, that is clean and comfortable and not far from the centre of Whitehaven - Really friendly staff, excellent food and service. The room was cleans and comfortable. The outside area was absolutely gorgeous and nicely kept, the parking was also ample with lots of spaces to choose from! The bathroom was clean, however a bit of grime/mildew build up on cracks and crevices but that’s to be expected.
- Allan (9/5): -
- Erin (9/5): Lovely staff, quiet clean rooms, everyone was helpful and friendly! - Lovely hotel in its own grounds.
- Karen (8/5): -
- Katy (7/5): - Good location to town centre off road parking The room was lovely but our bathroom was very tiny and our shower didn’t work properly as it was either boiling hot or freezing cold. They did fix a part that was broken but that wasn’t until the Saturday evening and we were checking out on the Sunday morning.
- Caron (9/5): Had everything I wanted near to friends I came to visit - Very nice friendly staff There wasn’t anything not to like
- Wilson (10/5): I had an very pleasant stay and I would recommend the hotel to anyone. I will use the facility next time I am in the are - The staff were very helpful and polite the accommodation was clean bright and comfortable. There was nothing to pick fault with. There was nothing to dislike.
- Debbie (10/5): Great hotel, great staff, will definitely return! - Beautiful hotel and location. Staff so friendly and helpful; nothing was too much trouble for them. There was nothing to dislike!
- David (9/5): -
- Emma (5/5): Functional Hotel - OK but dated rooms, very small bed. Breakfast was nice. Plenty of parking. Overpriced for what it was. Cost £112 but a more realistic price would be £70.
