- Tony (10/5): - A lovely three night stay at Downton Lodge. Martin and Andrew are excellent hosts who ensure that they run a guest house with very high standards. Lots of details have been considered to provide everything one might need whilst away from home. Breakfast is cooked very well with high quality ingredients, and the hosts known the area in depth so that they can advise their guests of what to do and see. Overall, an excellent stay.
- irene (10/5): FAB U LOUS - Beautiful house and hospitable owners. Everything we needed for a relaxing break, comfy bed, good shower delicious breakfast and many small unexpected touches too -such as fresh milk and chilled water in a mini fridge. Andrew and Martin were wonderful hosts, always happy to suggest restaurants and advise on the best routes to take to get to them. ..... not easy on the narrow Devon lanes!
- Anne (10/5): - We loved staying at Downtown Lodge. Set in the Devon Countryside just a short drive to Dartmouth the views are wonderful. Hosts Andrew and Martin were very friendly and welcoming and they provide a great breakfast. This is a very clean and comfortable place to stay.

An exquisitely presented, located and managed refuge in a lovely peaceful marine/ rural setting overlooking one of Britain's most beautiful river estuaries. Laid back, efficient, non intrusive owner management. You will relax! The best of British bed and breakfast hospitality Oh, and those breakfasts!

Whilst located down a working farm track and quite a walk into Dittisham this is made up for by the welcome and the breakfast. You do need regular use of the car. Would recommend and definitely stay again when in the area.

No negatives at all.

Lovely large room overlooking fields, quiet and peaceful. Wonderful host Andrew, meticulous attention to detail. Really lovely breakfasts, all freshly prepared in the gorgeous country kitchen diner. Quality furnishings and special touches make this a perfect retreat and leaves you feeling quite spoilt 😊.

Our room was very well appointed and the bed was enormous! Andrew & Martin clearly put a huge amount of effort in to the property, and they have considered every aspect to ensure guests have a comfortable stay. - Nigel (10/5): Downton Lodge is a B and B that won’t disappoint. - One of the best B and Bs we have stayed in for a long time. There is only praise for the service that Andrew and Martin provide for their guests. Top marks for the room and breakfast. The location is slightly off the beaten track but the reward is wonderful views from your bedroom. We look forward to the next opportunity to visit the Dartmouth area and stay at the Downton Lodge.

- Miss (10/5): Downton Lodge, near Dittisham - Downton Lodge is set in stunning countryside, is beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. The room we stayed in was very well equipped and arranged with everything you could possibly need. It also had a sweet little balcony on which you can sit and admire the lovely garden. Having said that their were wonderful views from all our bedroom windows. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful and our hosts were really helpful and kind. We had a very memorable stay. Highly recommended

A lovely breakfast to start the day and always ready for a chat. Downton Lodge is a beautiful house in beautiful suroundings. We will be back.

Our overall impression was unfortunately spoilt by the host on our final morning. When we told him the previous day of our intention to leave by 8.00 to avoid heavy traffic, he declined to provide our (prepaid) breakfast that early. In the event, however, he was up and about in order to check we hadn’t stolen a coat hanger.

Attention to detail was superb and Andrew and Martin are excellent hosts and very helpful. Breakfast was very good and freshly cooked. Covid regulations were strictly followed with plenty of sanitising gels everywhere which made us feel safe during this time. We had a wonderful time. Thank you.

Charming B&B with really good modern amenities and nice touches throughout. Andrew & Martin were really accommodating, helpful and thoroughly delightful! I would recommend without hesitation.

Only, and minor criticism, would be tricky to master hob and oven and two hot plates only. But this did not detract from a very pleasant few days and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
- Tayler (10/5): - We stayed in the luxury cottage for three nights, and what a beautiful place! The flat is newly done And very tasteful, we were left with a bottle of wine and some fresh flowers cut from the garden on our arrival which was such a lovely touch. Andrew and Martin were both wonderful hosts and the setting is picturesque, fabulous for a peaceful stay away. Taxi is only £15 into Dartmouth and this can also be walked in an hour, although a very muddy track! The only comment I would give is an addition of a blind or curtain in the living area would be nice as we felt very overlooked in the evening whilst watching tv. Andrew was the perfect host and could not have looked after us better.
