Guest Reviews
- Tony (10/5): - great choice of wines and beers
- Ron (10/5): A wonderful place to stay. - Very comfortable and very helpful staff. There was a mix-up over payment, but the manager sorted it out within ten minutes. The room was perfect, good sized bathroom and spotless. Met up with friends for a reunion and everyone left smiling and happy. Will stay again at the next reunion.
- Steven (10/5): Fantastic, friendly and beautiful - This is an absolutely beautiful hotel , the rooms are boutique in style. They have a well stocked mini bar and a brilliant coffee machine in each room.
I would highly recommend this, and will definitely be booking this again.
- Joe (10/5): Stay at The Foley - We had a truly wonderful stay at The Foley. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, friendly, and professional, making our stay feel welcome straight away. Check-in was quick and easy, and the thoughtful touches throughout our stay really stood out.
Our room was spotless, stylish, and very comfortable, with one of the best beds we’ve ever slept in. Everything was well maintained, from the modern bathroom with quality toiletries to the little extras like a great coffee/tea station and fluffy towels.
Breakfast was a highlight fresh, varied, and plentiful, with something to suit everyone. Service in the restaurant was excellent, attentive without being overbearing. we also really enjoyed the bar area which was stylish, clean, relaxing, and a real bonus to our stay.
The hotel’s location was ideal yet still peaceful and quiet in the evenings, making it easy to both explore and relax.
What impressed us most was the genuine care from the staff—they consistently went above and beyond, which made our stay feel extra special.
Overall, we can’t recommend The Foley highly enough. It’s the perfect mix of comfort, quality, and exceptional service. We’ll definitely be returning!
- Samantha (10/5): - Loved the room and the pub and the people!
- Deborah (10/5): - The hotel is lovely. Lots of little touches in the room and excellent service from all of the staff. The pub is perfect. Great service, great food, lovely beer garden and beautifully decorated. It’s the kind of pub/hotel you want as your local.
- Ana (10/5): - Lovely hotel and pub. Room was impressive, nice and large, and spotlessly clean Super king bed was unexpected. Rarely seen in many hotels so this was a definite delight.
Only downside to the pub as a guest was we were unable to get a nightcap on our return at 11pm. Breakfast very nicely set out. Ingredients fresh and flavoursome. If returning to the are, will definitely stay again.
- Tony (10/5): The Foley is amazing ! - Superb quality room.
- Suzanne (10/5): - Lovely boutique style hotel. Great dining area and beer garden. Great breakfast. Close to some cafe's and shops.
- Helena (10/5): A wonderful hotel thats great value - For the lrice, I was blown away by this hotel. A very spacious room, beautifully done up with character. Huge, comfy bed. Spacious bathroom. Clean, cosy and quiet. A great lub below too. Can't fault it.
- Rose (10/5): - I really liked this facility. The rooms were clean and spaceous.
The reception was at the end of the bar which didnt work well as the staff were a little distracted. We got there in the end though.
Restaurant was lovely though it closed early due to short staff. That was a blessing in diaguise as we went to a loval Italian which was amazing.
The next day we went to the hitel restaurant anf i had a boss fish and chips. The sunday roast looked awesome but was far too large for me hense the fish and chips.
I would like to come back in the sumer as outside looked inviting
- Tracey (10/5): Business Trip - The rooms were beautiful, service excellent - would definitely stay again
- Amanda (10/5): Lovely 10/10 - My no. 1 choice for staying here regularly on business. The rooms are lovely, the bed comfortable, and the breakfast is delicious. The staff are friendly too and the bar is somewhere I'm happy to go & have dinner in on my own, armed with a book or my laptop.
- Marie (6/5): - Stay here before and had enjoyed it, however, this time very different. The Reception is now at the bar in the pub, not separate where the rooms are, so had to carry all luggage through the pub. Had to pay a £50 deposit in case we consumed any from the minibar in the room. It wasn’t a pending on debit card, the payment was actually taken, now waiting for it to be refunded.
The fridge in the room was crammed full of alcoholic drinks and a small bottle of milk. No room for anything else. There were snacks available in the room- all had to be paid for.
The shower in the morning did not work very well. The rainforest head did not work at all and the side shower was too low. At checkout I mentioned this to the person there. Another woman came who said, “There is a bit of a knack to it.”
To which I replied, “Then instructions should be made available.”
The response to this was, “I suppose we could do that, something to think about.”
Will not be staying again.
- Colin (10/5): - Excellent stay, and great full English breakfast
- Gerry (10/5): Excellent hotel/pub, would highly recommend. - Stylish and well equipped hotel, the staff were friendly and attentive. Reasonable room rates.
- max (8/5): - Great place,loved the real fire
- Craig C (10/5): Great location - Great location, friendly staff and a great pub with food and drink.
- Allan (10/5): Hidden gem in south west London - Bit of a hidden gem, booked as near to where my meetings where. Great bar and restaurant downstairs and the breakfast was excellent with lots of choice and di not what anyone complaining. But it’s the room think top class London boutique hotel but at an amazing price. Thank you
- Ryan (10/5): Fantastic stay - Absolutely fantastic place! Cannot say a bad word. Staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly. will definitely be back when in the area
- Jeffery (10/5): - Fantastic place to stay, was able to leg it the to racetrack for a concert. The only drawback was the 80 grit sandpaper in the washrooms.
- Simon (10/5): Nice Surprise - The hotel was better than I was expecting with spacious, comfortable rooms - my kids were very pleased with theirs! Check-in was quick and friendly, the bar/restaurant area was comfortable and we enjoyed a drink in the garden before going out for the evening. A good breakfast but a little disappointed to be limited to a single hot drink and no pastries (my wife does enjoy a pastry for breakfast so a mark down for her). But overall, very good and will stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely and peaceful stay - Lovey hotel, very quiet and peaceful with friendly and helpful staff.
- Andrew (10/5): - Perfect for our stay overnight nice dinner with our son who lives nearby - thank you
- CATHERINE (10/5): - Comfort rooms well decorated with great amenities. Best nights sleep.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Relaxing and convenient stop over , quiet location
- Mirza (10/5): - One of the nocest rooms ive stayed in a while
- Alexander (10/5): Overall, a very good establishment. - A superb hotel overall. Beautifully decorated rooms, ample parking, small attempts to reduce packaging and waste and superb cleaning between each night stay.
The only flaw was the initial reception presence. I and some other guests waited some time before having to locate a member of staff to check in. They were clearly supporting in the restaurant leaving the front desk unmanned. Unfortunately, neither the laptop or desktop were playing ball so I was given a key to expedite the process. A slight pity as the remainder of the stay was superb.
Very comfortable room but sadly one night stay was interrupted by a group of contractors on the lash (pub entrance directly below window).
I would most certainly stay again, but hope that punters would have a little more respect for guests staying at the hotel, beyond 10pm.
Finally, the bar staff were lovely. Friendly and attentive. The food was also consistently very good.
- Brandon (10/5): - Clean and comfortable
- Sharon (10/5): - Lovely clean and friendly hotel. We loved our stay.
- lisa (10/5): Excellent hotel - Such a lovely hotel, highly recommend. I was looking for accommodation whilst I attended a weekend event at Sandown race course. Traveling as a lone female I felt very comfortable with my choice, I was greeted by a friendly Irish man who was very helpful and welcoming.
The room was large and very beautifully decorated. There was a coffee machine with a selection of pods, also fresh milk in the fridge and a pot of fresh cookies which is such a nice touch. Lovely toiletries. The bed was big and very comfortable. I simply could not fault the room.
I ate in the restaurant and had the most delicious freshly made pie. Again the service was excellent.
Having stayed in quite a few hotels for work this is by far the best and certainly good value. I shall be re booking for my next trip to Sandown, which was only an easy 7 minute drive away.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful hotel however very expensive to eat and drink in the hotel
- Rob (8/5): - Lovely property near Sandown Racecourse
- Tim (10/5): A Gem - This is an absolutely delightful hotel. It is clean, comfortable, and has really nice amenities. The attached restaurant/pub has a really lovely ambiance and the food is quite tasty. We will definitely stay again.
- Justin (10/5): Good hotel in nice small town - Great hotel, nice room and pub / bar that is good too.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Regular Visitor to The Foley - I have used The Foley regularly whilst our house has major building works undertaken. It has always been a very comfortable stay and no problem for me when travelling solo. Staff are helpful and the rooms are always comfortable.
- Linda (10/5): - Well situated for train and transport. Very comfortable with little extras that make a difference. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends.
- M (8/5): Very nice - Very friendly welcome, the pub this is attached to is very nice and the food was excellent, the room was large and comfortable, the shower was lovely, this would have been a 5 if the bed was a bit softer, found it a bit too hard, but that is been a bit picky
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly, helpful staff, spacious clean room, comfy beds, food in the bar was very nice
- Elizabeth (10/5): Regular Visitor - Very comfortable hotel close to the village centre and within easy reach of local attractions. Breakfasts very good.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Foley Hotel - Really pleased with our stay. Very comfortable room and great breakfast.
- Debbie (8/5): Pleasant stay - We stayed at the Foley after visiting RHS Wisley. I chose it because of its closeness and also thanks to the exceptional ratings on Hotels.com.
I'd requested a quiet room and a table for 2 in the restaurant when making the booking and followed up with a phone call as I wasn't sure it had been received (it hadn't).
Room was lovely and quiet with its own little outdoor seating area away from the main property. Only issue was it was a bit hot at night as we didn't feel safe leaving GF patio doors open. Aircon only seemed to go as low as 19C. Bathroom had windows, but the roller blind didn't work to provide complete privacy.
Restaurant and bar were good, but we had an issue with the wine. First, they brought us the wrong one and then found the (more expensive) one we'd ordered, but it wasn't chilled. They put it in the freezer for a bit and brought it back on ice, but it never really got to the right temp. We didn't want to make a fuss, but it spoilt one of our fave wines.
Breakfast was delicious - especially the Crab Royale - very different and a great invention.
- Geoffrey (10/5): Business - Lovely place , helpful and friendly staff , good parking and lovely rooms .
- Kenneth (10/5): - Am absolute gem with amazing staff, fantastic huge rooms with loads of facilities and touches you would get in a top 5 star hotel .. the breakfast and choices were fabulous
- Robyn (10/5): - Friendly staff, good size room with very comfortable bed.
- David (10/5): - Friendly welcome, comfortable room, excellent breakfast included, highly recommended.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Lovely rooms, helpful staff and really clean. Breakfast was delicious.
- Geoffrey (10/5): Work - Lovely hotel and staff , really enjoyed it.
- Taron (10/5): Great little place - A great little place. Rooms are very comfy and well equipped. The only downside is reception is not always manned. Already booked to stay in again in a few weeks.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I've stayed here a number of times and twice have had to vacate my room at early hours of the morning due to a fire alarm going off. On this stay I stood in the car park for over 15 minutes in the freezing cold before anyone came to investigate, then once we were all back in our rooms it went off again. For this to happen twice on different stays I'm either unlucky or the hotel has an issue it needs to resolve.
- Yvonne (10/5): Would use again - Nice reception, friendly staff, lovely room and facilities in it. Excellent meal in restaurant even thought the 2 dishes I chose were not available.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very comfortable stay, will return! - Pleasantly surprised by the size of my room which was very generous and tastefully decorated.
Bed was enormous and very comfortable with good quality bedding.
Mini bar had a good selection and being provided with fresh milk for tea and coffee was a great touch.
Only minor points that would have taken the room from good to great are 1. the need for some maintenance in the bathroom (bath needs new sealant & paint needs touching up where it has flaked off) 2. Detail on cleaning; inside of draws were heavy with dust which ended up all over my clothes and cobwebs in most corners.
Would also be helpful for reception to stock small items such as toothpaste/ toothbrushes etc for guests like me who forgot to pack them.
Would recommend to friends and would stay again!
- Davd (8/5): Very comfortable. Large room & good breakfast - I used the hotel for days racing at Sandown Park. Only 1.6 miles to course & on bus route.
Stayed two nights in a superb room with two twins fastened together. Plenty of space & fridge/minibar in room. Coffee machine with fresh milk in fridge. Comfort wise & quality of room could not be faulted.
Hotel is let down by the food in the restaurant. Breakfast was great with everything cooked fresh & very tasty, but the evening meal was disappointing on both evenings. Sorry, but I put it down to lazy chef. Pub lounge & restaurant have massive potential & I was amazed that the restaurant was only around 1/6th full on both Friday & Saturday nights in such an affluent area near major tourist attractions (Sandown races, Hampton Court, Chessington etc).
Friday I had the "special" Hake & Prawn pie with mashed potato lid. Had it been cooked in the oven it would have been excellent but it was microwaved & the mash was anaemic when it should be golden had it been oven cooked. It was temp of lava around the edge & just warm in the middle so I had to stir it together.
Saturday I had fish & chips. Five bones & a centimetre piece of pink plastic. All of which should have been noticed if the chef cared. I am afraid I am not a fan of frozen chips so although I ate the meal it was disappointing.
I was asked how I enjoyed the meal in Friday & gave feedback & was offered a discount which I refused as I had finished but Sat, not asked if meal was ok. Just asked if finished & plate taken
- Peter (8/5): - Difficult to make a phone call to speak to someone for room or restaurant bookings - phone always went to voice mail.
- CHRISTOPHER (10/5): Excellent hotel with great restaurant!! - Really good hotel. Room was spacious and really well furnished with big comfortable bed. Food in restaurant was excellent. Staff helped me as I’d forgotten my phone charger - they were all extremely polite and helpful.
- Melanie (6/5): Not a good as normal! - Kept awake and woken every night by the night cleaner!
Breakfast slow!
Hair found in evening meal - response from waiting staff poor!
Old contact lens found in shower tray.
Toiletries not replenished when empty.
- Richard (2/5): - The room is the noisiest room i have ever stayed in
- CATHERINE (10/5): - Wonderful customer service. Theywant you to enjoy your stay.
- Claire (10/5): Business work - Woman . travelling alone - I stayed 2 nights of work. On arrival Vinnie was both friendly and extremely helpful.
He helped with my bag and showed me into the room.

Lovely garden in the sun and really clean.
Beds fab and AC worked fab
Lovely place for a woman travelling alone.
- John (10/5): - Stay very pleasant,friendly staff
- Geoffrey (10/5): Foley - Lovely place , friendly staff, immaculately clean
- Simon (10/5): Fabulous Hotel - A very warm welcome in reception and a beautifully prepared room which was spacious and spotlessly clean. The food at dinner and breakfast was excellent.
- Kirsty (10/5): - It was a great stay. The manager/owner was welcoming and had a great sense of humour. The food was great and the room and bathroom were a good size
- Anthony (10/5): - Good location, tidy comfortable room.
- Matthew (10/5): Lovely stay - Lovely hotel with spacious rooms and nice bathroom. Coffee pod machine excellent touch, pods were replenished. Good pub with tasty food and covered garden area with swing seats, blankets and hot water bottles. Ample car parking and friendly staff. Would happily stay again.
- Mark (10/5): - A warm welcome on arrival, from endless staff. The pub and restaurant are excellent with good home cooking, selection of wines and beers. Will look to use again when next in the area
- Hugh (8/5): - Very helpful staff, good service
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely, quiet find. - Good sized room, decorated tastefully. Staff very welcoming. Lovely, peaceful area to stay.
Quality of food was very good but could have had more variety at meal times, perhaps some cold breakfast items i.e. pastries?
Would certainly recommend!
Stain on bathroom ceiling and slow drainage of bathroom could do with some attention.
- Grant (10/5): Little Clayton Gem - Lovely stay, all staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely stay there again.
- richard (10/5): fabulous place - brilliant host and a fabulous place.
spotless large comfy rooms
great breakfast
i will be back
thanks Vinny
- Jason (10/5): - The facilities were great - friendly staff. Great food in the restaurant/bar. Could have been a better selection of cask beers/ales. The room was clean with a double shower, twin wash basin. There was a Nespresso machine and a well stocked mini bar. Would definitely recommend
- Marisa (10/5): - We had a great tine while staying at the hotel. The food was excellent and so were the staff.
Would highly recommend and happy to stay there again next tine we return to this area
- Gerald (10/5): Racing day - Excellent friendly service from bar and kitchen staff.Room spacious and clean with very large comfortable bed.
- r (10/5): Excellent short stay - Friendly check in, Lovely cosy room, nice shower and great facilities with a coffee machine and Nespresso pods with fresh milk. Great toiletries. Only down side was the air con wasn’t working but fans were provided.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good hotel but rude manager - Slow check in but they had just had a new system so is understandable. The person on reception though while trying to make small talk and joke comes across as rude.
The room I had was great a little warm as the aircon didn't get below 19 but comfortable.
Service for food is pretty slow and they weren't that busy, the shift manager (that was also on reception when we checked in) was rude to his staff and his attempts at small talk with ourselves and other guests came across as rude. He even dropped two plates of food on the floor directly behind me and made no attempt to apologise or check I was ok.
Breakfast wasn't much better, again the rude small talk continued, this man appeared unable to pick up on social cues!
We then had to request drinks several times before they were actually given to us on a number of occasions.
The food itself was ok, I had the burger for dinner and it was a bit greasy but ok, the chips are great though and the breakfast was good.
I'm booked to stay here again mainly due to lack of decent hotels in the area and without the service of the member of staff mentioned above, the hotel is good.
Advice I would give to him is to learn when to not talk and just listen to your guests, and please treat your staff with some respect. They aren't there to be spoken to rudely like you do and neither are the guests.
- Brian (10/5): Lovely hotel - Lovely hotel which needs some TLC but very clean and comfortable. Restaurant staff very friendly and efficient
- Lawrence (10/5): Great place to stay - Bar and food was amazing. The room was perfect. Staff were fantastic, really helpful. Carpark was full and we got a ticket! That aside it was super to stay athte Foley and we will be back
- ROBERT (10/5): Fantastic hotel - Fantastic hotel, really nice room with great little touches. I had dinner in the bar / restaurant which was excellent, as was breakfast in the morning.
Definitely recommend this hotel.
- Anne (10/5): - Staff lovely. Just a perfect place to be
- Giovanni (8/5): No complaints (other than teething problems) - We arrived just before check in closed (circumstances beyond our control) but that didn't cause any issues - they were happy to take a dinner order immediately as the kitchen was due to stop taking orders in the next few minutes, so can't fault the service (or the food itself).
The room itself... huge bed, well presented throughout, however there were a couple of items left in the bin from a previous occupant.
Billing was a little chaotic - they had just installed a new system which somehow failed to spot that my card required a chip&pin in-person validation, resulting in several phone calls the next day to get the additional items covered. I presume that, once bedded in, the system will be fine.
- David (10/5): Great staff and ideal location for sandown raves - Great location for us (sandown races). Staff were really friendly and helpful
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place. Excellent rooms, food and staff.
- Stephanie (8/5): Lovely hotel, spacious classy room. - Had a lovely say at the Foley. Really nice hotel, lovely food and all staff encountered attentative and friendly.
Everything seemed exceptionally clean but unfortunately had to score lower for cleanliness as the morning of check out we discovered that the bathroom bin still contained the previous occupants waste. This was genuinely the only negative from a cleanliness point of view however it was a bit disappointing particularly in the current covid world. I did report this at check out and the staff member did say he would discuss with thw cleaning staff.
Other than this one thing we actually loved the place and would book again.
- Paul (10/5): Great little place - Service was great, food was lovely. The manager was an awesome guy and lots of fun.
- Jon (10/5): - Lovely room, food was fantastic. Will stay again.
