Downstairs lounge lovely for evening pre and post dinner drinks. The biggest asset of this hotel is the staff. They were exceptional in every way. We were so well looked after. Service with genuine attentiveness and care. Slightly tired decor. Needs a bit of a refresh.

Staff are efficient and very polite and nothing is too much for them. We loved the property, we just don’t like the function of our knees, there’s quite a few steps 😆

Attentive and efficient. The bedroom was clean and comfortable and a nice mix of years gone by with a modern twist. There was nothing not to like.

The front living room for tea, whiskey or just hanging out was spectacular in charm and comfort. Historic place visited by Queen Elizabeth in 1960. Connection to Shetland TV show adds another fun feature. Great location — less than an hour from Lerwick and close to north and west mainland areas.

- jean (10/5): Fabulous staff, beautiful house and magic food. Best ever. - This hotel is a must stay in Shetland. So much history, beautiful views, comfortable rooms and super staff. The food and service is top class. Breakfast and evening meals amazing. Lovely toiletries in bathrooms.plenty tea and coffee. The bar is small and mightie loads to choose from, including a vast selection of whisky. Had a few in the evenings. Lush. There’s nothing to dislike, except for leaving.

With the exception of one meal, which was dealt with immediately by the owners, the food was excellent and plentiful. - A (8/5): Special historic stay - Felt privileged to be able to stay in such a beautiful historic haa. Setting amazing and lovely to see the trees in the grounds. Large and spacious communal rooms. Lovely staff. Good breakfast. We didn't need the full works but they were happy to accommodate us with porridge and poached eggs. Late check out at midday was a relief. Would recommend and return. Room was quite small and stuffy, improved when windows opened and door was pinned back. Very thick and heavy duvets for July. Lots (and lots) of firedoors to struggle through with your luggage but part of the nature of the building. Thin walls and bangng doors led to a broken sleep.

- Rosalind (9/5): Wish that I could have stayed longer! - Beautiful house in a beautiful setting- everywhere there was something interesting to see. The staff were particularly good. The breakfast was so nicely presented as well as being delicious. I was working, but sitting for a pre-prandial drink in the Long Room was so relaxing that it felt as though I were on holiday for one night. The shower room was a wee bit claustrophobic, but I'm not going to put that as a "didn't like" because overall the room was very pretty and, more to the point, the shower was intuitive and worked well.

The service was first rate and all staff went out of their way to help and advise. The lounge, in particular, was a wonderful space for pre-dinner drinks or quiet reading. Bathroom was a bit cramped. It had excellent facilities, including a great shower, but was tight on space.

- Kate (10/5): A charming place with wonderful staff - A charming historic building, with beautifully kept gardens, in a stunning setting with views across the voe. All of which pale into insignificance against the stellar performance of the staff here. These friendly and efficient people make this hotel a welcoming, comfortable and relaxing place to stay. The food is wholesome, delicious, served well and without fuss. You must try the scones! We liked everything about this place!

I wouldn't hesitate at booking this hotel again if visiting Shetland.

We ate in the dining room for breakfast and dinner and both meals were of a high standard. We would definitely recommend to others to stay here if they came to the Shetlands and we would stay here again.

- Inês (10/5): Lovely and homely - Busta is a lovely quaint hotel in Shetland. The staff were lovely and accommodating, the bed was super comfortable and the sheets super soft. The loo was super clean too. Breakfast was included and for a small hotel in mainland Shetland I could not have asked for more. The main lounge was a treat for a bit of silent reading.

On the full breakfast, I felt sausages let it down, tasted cheap, they were ok, but nothing more , there is excellent butchers in Shetland who would have better sausages.

Couldn't recommend more. Maybe not the best place for anyone with mobility issues however, as the bathroom is very small and getting into the bath/shower requires stepping over/around the toilet.

The Long Room is a very nice place to have a drink before and/or after your meal, it would have been nicer if the fire had been on. The breakfast was amazing, the evening meal was fine I have eaten here before though and the evening meal was much better on that occasion. The staff, although young, were lovely and attentive, very polite.

- Melanie (10/5): - We had a lovely big room Yell overlooking the garden. The hotel was peaceful and quiet even though there were some big groups staying. Always plenty of hot water and heating which was needed after being in the cold winds at Shetland. Staff very helpful and polite - they helped us book ferries to Yell and Unst. Breakfast and dinner very plentiful - too much for me at times but you can ask for a half portion. Lovely lounge to relax in on an evening. Highly recommend and we hope to be back at spring time in a couple of years

- Retired (9/5): Lovely historic building in a great location. - Breakfast was superb - especially the porridge and the smoked haddock with poached eggs. Lovely lounge area. Welcoming, friendly staff. The grounds really need some attention. Although our room had a sea view it was very limited due to the trees having been allowed to grow without pruning. It would be a glorious garden but it seems that there aren’t sufficient funds for maintenance.

- Alison (8/5): Perhaps living on past glories - The hotel didn’t meet our expectations that were formed by their website. Our room looked like it had been recently refurbished and certainly the bathroom had been, however the decoration looked very amateurish- I can paint a door better than the bathroom one. I thought the food offering would be more high end with an emphasis on Shetland seafood but it was fairly standard, nothing particularly stood out. For example one choice was lasagna and it was made with Aberdeen Angus beef and Orkney cheese to give it that locally produced feel. Dundee marmalade is world famous but their choice of Tiptree from Essex and portions of Lakeland butter shows they are not walking the talk. Another area for improvement would be to vacuum more thoroughly, especially the stairs leading to the bedrooms. We still enjoyed our stay and the staff are very welcoming.
