Guest Reviews
- Yasmin (10/5): Incredible place, very comfortable - Incredible experience. Bed was comfy equipped with mosquito net and cabins were clean and surprisingly bug free. Staff were friendly and the lodge is stunning. Our guide Carlos was brilliant. A truly magical experience and seamless from start to finish, would absolutely recommend Amak. The food was good but as a vegetarian i had to explain this a few times when they gave me meat after which they served me vegetarian food apart from one night where i was served fried rice full of tiny bits of sausage that i had to pick around.

Uyandigimda klosette kurbaha vardi kloset borusundan geliyormus, bir ingiliz coftinde odasinda iki gundur ayni sorun varmis sisteme bir cekvalf taksalar ordan gelemez. Akan su amazan suuunun renginde dus almak vs imkansiz.
- Sergio (10/5): Increible!
- Groce (10/5): Food was delicious and the staff was super friendly - I love the location .
- Laura (10/5): -
- Ludwig (9/5): Very relaxing and very informative guides to explain how things work in the Amazon. - Very relaxing environment… excellent food Was a bit dark on the way back to the accommodation if you forgot your torch. But there was always someone to lend you one…
- Matthew (7/5): A rustic experience of a lifetime, but improvements are needed - The staff and guides were so incredibly kind and accommodating. The excursions were very fun and interesting. We had so many fun experiences—fishing, monkeys, sloths, trees, giant lily pads, native communities. And the food is delicious! It was the trip of a lifetime, truly. This is a rustic remote location and people seem to understand that. But there are still some reasonable suggestions we had for improvement:
1. Our cabin didn't have a toilet seat. That's unacceptable.
2. The cabins don't have fans. The heat is sweltering and makes it difficult to sleep. Upgraded solar panels would allow all-night electricity for a bedroom fan.
3. Meals are very far apart from one another, and there are no snacks.
4. This was billed as an all-inclusive, but then beer and soda were extra.
5. We understood having to pay extra for a private boat, but the costs were insanely expensive.
6. There were many hours of the day without activity. The common spaces didn't have activities, and there was only 2 guided tours each day.
7. The hotel didn't have anything for sale. Not shirts or hats or sunscreen or bug spray.
- Tinka (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay a lot. It is undescribable to fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of the jungle. The cabanas are basic, but clean. You are in the middle of the Amazon rainforest, so don't be picky and don't wonder if you have animals in the cabana. But it is a unique experience. We loved our guide Carlos, who showed us the flora and fauna and the way the Amazon people live. He has great knowledge and speaks good english. The food was delicious especially for lunch and dinner. The portions are huge. It would be great to have more vegetables and fruits for breakfast, especially if you are not used to eat eggs and bacon for breakfast, since that was our breakfast on all 3 mornings.
- Elske (8/5): Lovely stay, say a lot of animals en the lodge is in the middle of nature. bring clothes that dry quick and you dont min - It is in the middle of nature, animals around the lodge (even unwanted ones like a tarantula in your lodge haha). The main lodge was built beautifully and I like that it had a "no-shoe-policy". It wasn't fully waterproof. When it rained hard, there were a lot of puddles of water on the floor and the mens toilet was flooded. So walking around on your socks was not comfortable then. In the lodge where we slept we also had some leaks, but not as much.
- Miguel Nicolas (1/5): Ruido, obras, imposible relajarse. - Decepcionante.
- Kerem (10/5): - A true Amazon experience, Carlos is such a great guide. Amak Iquitos was so genuine that we would definitely recommend to our friends Boat services should be all day long, not just for a certain time range. If you miss those time ranges, you have to pay 167$ for one way, which is absurd.
- gaelle (9/5): Jungle stay with additional comfort you wouldn’t expect in the jungle - I liked the little lodges, the grounds, the common area, the decent size of the property, the great food which is always a surprise and the staff.
Also really enjoyed being taken care of for the 2 daily activities. Enough to do but not too much so you always have time to relax in between set activities and mealtimes. Nothing I didn’t like. I wish I’d thought of taking headlights to get back to our lodge, it gets really dark at night. The path is not lit.
- Alnasir (8/5): Good stay, with a few glitches - Food (all meals) were excellent thanks to the Panamanian Cheg. They take care of dietary restrictions.
Location is very good; as expected, in the jungle.
The tours they arrage are good in general; Carlos speaks english so that helps a lot. Else, you lose a lot in translation Lights were not workgin properly in our unit; they were taken care of when we let them know.
Also, bed was not made up after 1st night sleep there, which it should have been by the cleaning crew.
So a little disappointed that such issues should have been taken care of by staff before renting out the room.
Also, the price qupyed on Booking.com is a Cash price. If you pay by Credit Card (like most people); they ADD 5% to the bill. No issues woth that, but it should have been made clear on the Booking.com price that this was a cash only price.
Also, we only found 1 person there (Carlos) who spoke some english; so for non-Spanish speaking people,it may be a little challenging. But the staff does try hard
- Andreea (10/5): Exceptional - The whole experience is very well organized - from check in/ check out, transfers, experiences, meals. The stuff is very welcoming, warm, friendly and always trying to be helpful. The food was absolutely amazing! The cabañas are super comfortable and clean, the common area is very spacious and the outdoor space is a dream! Huge thanks to Julio and Mamerto for making our trip memorable. Batteries kept running out of power.l, so no lights in the morning.
- Sophie (7/5): Lovely Ecolodge where you can see what it's like to live in the jungle - The staff is lovely and they make a great effort in making the stay very enjoyable. It is jungle and when we were there it was very high water so we had to walk over makeshift bridges, which added to the adventure spirit. The lodge is not located in a nature reserve so you do not have a wildlife experience, but they do there utmost best to give you a true living in the Amazone experience. Everyday they have two excursions. We did not see much wildlife but we did see them in the rescue centers which was very interesting. One day they ran out of beer. :-)
- Rob (9/5): Superb -
- Petar (9/5): It was a great experience, special thx to Carlos (our guide). - 1. Common area is beautiful, great place to chill and listen to birds
2. Sleeping lodge - separated in the jungle, roof and two walls are practicly musquito nets so you really feel like you are sleeping in the jungle and yet you are safe from the bugs :) Misscommunication - we didn’t get any towels on the first day. Once we asked for it, we got only one. When explained we need two, they apologized, said they will bring it but they never did. We gave up eventually. We didn’t had the feeling they are saving on the towells (its not that vibe in the lodge, you always get planty of food, coffee etc.), its just lost in communication between them, probablly due to lack of processes.
- Ann (9/5): Go visit the jungle!! - Falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle was amazing. As was the food, wayyyyy too much for me 3 courses for every meal! Carlos was a great guide and spoke really good English. Victor, Guido and the rest of the staff were so friendly and proud of the lodge Nada
- Corinna (10/5): Exceptional - I had an excellent stay at Amak - from the warm and helpful staff to the 3 course meals, it definitely exceeded my expectations for the very fair price. The schedule was well thought-out with interesting activities around the area and Carlos was an exceptional local guide. I felt very well taken care of. It would have been great to get a look at the scheduled activities beforehand, but nevertheless everything was well-organised and suitable for everyone.
- Andrea (9/5): Amazing jungle experience with fantastic food in between - Beautiful location, with welcoming and amable staff, the food was really beyond expectations! The bathroom interior (bin, toilet lit and food towel) should be replaced.
- Desiree (10/5): Amazon Jewel - It was AMAZING! The service was beyond perfect. Mamerto, Alfredo, Victor, and the AMAK team were the perfect hosts. The place is already a paradise and in addition the food is delicious. Excellent service + nice accommodations + interesting tours + delicious food = Perfect Place for Vacation
- Ahmed (10/5): Marvelous - The trip , the guides, the hospitality, the food , the program and the service Nothing
- Ali (10/5): Amazing stay! - Amazing stay! Alfredo, Leo and Carlos were all amazing as well as the rest of the staff! I was sick for 1 of the days there, and Alfredo went over and above to make sure I was okay! I can't say enough good things about the food. The rooms were lovely, and the excursions exceeded my expectations. Even without having fans, we stayed cool at night. My partner was worried that the night hikes didn't go enough into the jungle, but you could see everything from the resort ground, which is quite big. It definitely felt like a luxury resort by the way they cared for you.
Thank you again to everyone at amak. I had an issue previous to coming due to me booking a full board option instead of all-inclusive, but letisha from the reservations team was super helpful and eventually got it sorted for me. Dont make this mistake because it was a headache to fix! If you aren't a fan of spiders just dont go looking for them because they are everywhere (not in the rooms which is great) its a great place for people looking for wikdlife but i met a few people who werent expencting the amount of bugs they saw, but remember you are in the Amazon!
- Alisha (9/5): Superb - We had a very nice stay. The lodge is in a very beautiful setting, it’s such a peaceful place. The food is very good (very rich and lots of meat). In particular, the staff are very nice and very helpful.
Carlos, the tour guide, knows the jungle very well and took us on some great tours. We travelled individually, so we took a taxi within Iquitos to the port and back. The younger Carlos (not the tour guide), who takes care of the transfer to the port for the guests who have booked a transfer to the lodge, wanted to arrange a tuk-tuk for us on the way back from the port to the city centre for 50 sol (!!!). We normally paid 8 sol for the journey and were able to agree on that. He tried to rip us off.
However,I guess he only works with the lodge and is not part of the team (never seen him on the property), which therefor is not responsible for such behaviour.
- Florian (10/5): Truly amazing experience - Most important to mention is the great team - Victor realises every customer wish, Carlos is an exceptional guide and Leo cooks delicious for literally every meal. As well as all the others do a great job too. Big thank you to all of them, you made our stay unforgettable!!
Other than that, the location, facility and the tours are great. We stayed 3 nights and it exceeded our expectations as the pictures don’t really show how beautiful it actually is there.
- Oneflyer (10/5): Exceptional - great place especially for price
friendly staff make every effort to make u enjoy amazon
i think i gain weight for stay nil
- Mitchell (10/5): Amazing!!! - Best lodge to visit the Amazon from Iquitos. All inclusive and as described and the pictures show. Super friendly staff that make you feel at home right from the start. Couldn’t recommend more. Loved everything
- Yuk (7/5): Good -
- Joao (9/5): Superb -
- Ella (10/5): Great experiences. Our tourist guide Carols is very knowledgeable, tell us a lot of interesting things during the night - The cabin is clean.
- Sebastian (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely amazing staff and tours. Best food I had in iquitos
- Lorna (10/5): Amazing stay in the Amazon rainforest. - I liked the chilled family vibe. All the staff made you feel at home and the food was amazing. I expected to eat simply being in the Amazon rainforest, but we had 5 star style gormet food at every meal time. Nothing
- Gill (8/5): we loved it!!! definitely an incredible experience and would highly recommend - the experience, the staff were unbelievably amazing. such nice people, such great hosts. expensive alcohol on sale.
- Iris (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (8/5): Authentic eco lodge set on a beautiful well maintained property in the Amazon. Friendly staff that took very good care - beautiful setting in the jungle. private bungalows. nice open lobby.
- Diogo (9/5): Superb -
- Victoria (8/5): Very good -
- Susanne (9/5): wonderful time in the selva - wonderful location beautiful setting exceptional folks running it and taking care that everything runs smoothly. great chef! nothing to complain about
- Beatriz (9/5): Overall it was great, Amak Iquitos is an amazing place to enjoy the Amazonas - The staff, the location and the food. The activities were also great. The night activity is only going around the cabins, you don’t get off path
- Verified traveler (4/5): -
