Guest Reviews
- ROBYN (10/5): - Staff were wonderful and great food.
- Donna (9/5): Charming Pub Inn with parking near Oxford - Loved the breakfast menu. The inn was a classic English pub and quite charming. The mattress needs to be replaced. Or the bed . Not sure. There were gravity issues as i was pulled during sleep toward my spouse's side of the bed.
- Simon (10/5): Great value for money, great staff, great location for the country vibe. Highly recommended. - Country feel, quiet location and a unique feeling. Staff were amazing and ensured that you were well looked after.
- Deidre (10/5): -
- Alena (10/5): Lovely stay with delicious meals - We enjoyed our stay very much. This little hotel is really charming, in a nice English country side, 20 min by bus from Oxford. It has an amazing restaurant. Besides the great breakfast, we had such a good dinner the first evening that we came back to eat here also the second night.
- Anja (9/5): Sfeervol verblijf in leuk hotel! Hotel/pub is sfeervol. Het eten is prima en men is erg aardig. Hotelkamer was leuk ingericht. Bed vonden wij nogal hard.
- Jean (8/5): Lovely stay but wouldn’t go again due to access to Oxford. - The staff were friendly and very helpful. The food was good value and quality. The decor was a bit tired and could do with some attention. The location wasn’t the best for us as we hadn’t realised that the journey into Oxford was not 4 miles but more like 8 miles because of road closures .This increased the cost of our taxis.
- deborah (10/5): The staff and food were outstanding. We will visit again and tell our friends. - We loved the quaint and picturesque hotel and the beautiful surrounds. We had a glorious walk around the village before breakfast.
- Ewan (9/5): Beautiful location - Clean and modern rooms, awesome staff
- Tina (10/5): -
- Sharon (8/5): Fabulous, would come again - Loved the cleanliness, location, staff and lovely room and bathroom Not having a phone in my room. After being bedridden for two days with a sprained ankle, I couldn’t ask for anything
However, the staff were always helpful when I came down to ask

- Robert (10/5): -
- Elisabetta (10/5): Un angolo di storia - Accoglienza di Emily super.
L'atmosfera tipica di un pub inglese.
Ottima cucina, abbiamo solo fatto colazione. Colazione abbondante, vasta scelta di piatti salati e dolci. Varietà di sapori. Tutto ottimo.
- April (10/5): -
- Carla (9/5): Charme no campo inglês.
- Amanda (9/5): -
- Christina (10/5): - Everything. Staff are exceptional
- Maria Tsankova (10/5): -
- Charlotte (9/5): We had a lovely time. All the staff were helpful and polite. - Lovely room - clean and rather beautiful up in the eaves. Had a big bathroom with a good shower.
- Peter (10/5): A delightful one night stay - Located with easy access to major road network.
Good room and bed.
Food was excellent
Staff were all very pleasant Having to leave
- Piccolino (8/5): All in all a fantastic place to stay - Location was excellent. Easy reach of Oxford and our onward juirney Unavoidable wooden beams in bedroom.
- Roger (7/5): Just OK - Great breakfast and lovely evening meal. They have a very talented chef! Outside areas need some TLC. Stayed for 2 nights, room not made up. Bin emptied but tea/coffee not replenished and dirty glass left. Soap in public toilets empty, I opened them during our first evening so staff would notice but following evening they were as I left them!
- Claudia (9/5): Das kommt man gerne wieder zurück!
- ERIC (9/5): -
- Annick (8/5): -
- Laura (10/5): -
- Caleb (9/5): Great place for a charming stay. - Good quality room with great charm. Nice restaurant with good options just down the stairs from our room. Friendly staff. Quiet location close to Oxford. I wish the bed in our room could have been bigger, except that the angle of the roof prevents that. Worth it for the charm I think, and I knew this when I booked.
- Tim (9/5): -
- matthew (9/5): Great place to stay and only a short bus ride to the city - Lovely open fire in the bar great bar staff, the young lady I believe to be the duty manager was great and a true asset to the pub group, i hope the company appreciates her along with the other gentleman who i also believe to be a manager I think the rooms could do with a bit of TLC
- Nick (8/5): Fantastic location, friendly staff, tired room. Would stay again despite issues. - Excellent location, friendly and professional staff, lovely food. Stayed in Room 3 - really needs a freshen up in terms of painting of walls, mould/bubbling paint in the bathroom.
- Ronald (9/5): Very nice stay, comfy room and very good restaurant all in one. - Restaurant was excellent.
Room was comfortable and well appointed.
In-room tea, coffee and cookies was appreciated. Long steps up to room.
- Lynne (10/5): Lovely stay in old world pub with charm and food options - Location, staff, decor, room facilities Nothing
- Megan (10/5): Well worth a visit - Comfortable spacious room, great food and the pub was very cosy and inviting
- Square. (10/5): Lovely comfortable - Friendly helpful staff. Good food. Comfortable would highly recommend N/A
- jeanettewM368PL (10/5): Relaxing stay - Lovely relaxing stay. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Room really clean and comfortable and quiet.
Ate evening meal which was beautifully cooked and cocktails just delicious. Highly recommend breakfast. Really varied menu and all priced individually so you could have as little or as much as you wanted and pay accordingly. Really hope to return
- Fiona (10/5): A character laden retreat - A beautiful location (very Enid Blyton kind of village) the hotel is very old, full of character with open fireplaces and the food was delicious. It was only 20 mins from the centre of Oxford by taxi. Not much to complain about.
- Andrew (9/5): -
- Nathan (8/5): -
- Paul (8/5): Spot On - A super country pub with a beautifully appointed and spacious room. The evening meal was excellent as was the breakfast and the staff were attentive, polite and friendly. The bedroom was a little cold, but otherwise nothing.
- Tim (9/5): -
- Rebecca (7/5): Staff are lovely, food is great especially the breakfasts. We had two night stay so got to enjoy varied food choices. Ve - Great location if you want peace & quite away from city centre. Property has very relaxed vibe which is ideal for what we wanted.
Staff are just lovely & the food is delicious. Room wasn’t very clean when we arrived, scuff marks on walls, dusty skirting. Bathroom, had marks on bath panel & dust on bath, cobwebs.
Carpet didn’t appear to have been hoovered & the divan part of bed had marks on, easy fix is a valance. Cushions used to dress the bed need a wash they’re a bit smelly.
- Jackie (7/5): -
- Arnaud (10/5): - Lovely place to stay, cozy and full of charm
- Philip (7/5): Lovely inn, few - Lovely inn, full of character, amazing restaurant. The bed was quite small, and very creaky. The toilet seat wasn’t properly attached.
- Janice (8/5): -
- Fiona (10/5): Great overnight stay. Helpful and polite staff. - Good location - character - food. Nothing
- Peter (8/5): A convenient stay for a local event. - Charming staff, good food at reasonable prices. Good beer Curtians in bedroom.

- Priya (10/5): -
- Richard (10/5): - Everything Nothing
- Hutchison (9/5): warm, inviting and beautiful location for country walks and dips into town, excellent food! - a la carte ordering makes it easy, you can have what you like when you like. which i prefer to buffet options.
the dog was made to feel very welcome, which was kind and made the stay easier
i was given a room at top of the house which didn't suit me and the dog, so i was moved to a courtyard room which i was thrilled with - so thank you if i'd been made aware of very steep stairs and two flights of them, i wouldn't have booked the family room
- Sophie (9/5): Comfortable, friendly, welcoming. Excellent food, excellent staff & excellent service. I couldn’t fault it - It’s a beautiful country pub with very comfortable rooms, excellent food and excellent, friendly staff. The best place I’ve stayed in a long time, thank you! Nothing
- Graham (7/5): -
- NJC1959 (8/5): Good stay, good location and great staff - We stayed 4 nights and had a great stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
The food, both breakfast and dinner, was always well prepared and cooked and a good choice from the menus including a specials board at dinner.
We had booked the double room, as seen on their web site knowing it was ‘ characterful’. It was at the top of some windy wooden stairs and was a very small room with low ceilings, although the bathroom was large. After the first night we thought 3 more nights may be uncomfortable so asked to be moved which we were with no trouble and they understood. So we stayed in a room, number 1, accessed from the car park which was much larger. It had been suggested we had this room when we arrived but we thought we should stay in the room we had booked.
Room 1 was fine although the bathroom does need an upgrade, hence our 4 rating.
The pub was a good location for visiting Oxford, Blenheim and the Cotswolds. Overall we had a good stay and would return when next in the area.
- Lisa (8/5): Amazing restaurant and staff. - Amazing restaurant with great food and service. Staff were polite and welcoming.
Rooms had all the amenities required and were lovely warm and cozy on a cold rainy day. Very clean. We will return. The rooms are a little tired, but not offensive. Mattress could do with an upgrade, but we still slept well after a long day in the countryside.
- janewG2706IB (10/5): Friendly place with comfortable rooms and lovely food - Very friendly right through from check in to check out. Lovely food and comfortable beds. I love a bath so ideal room for me.
- Sofie (9/5): Rustige locatie nabij Oxford - Ruime kamer. Goede locatie tov Oxford en omgeving. Rustig dorp net buiten Oxford.

- Claudia (9/5): Fijn hotel in rustig dorp - Mooie rustige locatie, heerlijk ontbijt, sfeervolle ruime kamer, goed bed. Lekker gegeten in restaurant, leuke pub, authentieke sfeer, aardig personeel.
- Sophie (10/5): Cosy comfortable pub with welcoming atmosphere and wonderful food! - Beautiful cosy pub, with plenty of character. The food was wonderful and the staff very helpful and friendly. Nothing not to like.

Wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Thankyou 😃 Nothing
- Michael (10/5): We had an excellent time. The staff were all very helpful and nice. - Breakfast was really good. It was also very quiet being above a pub.
- Colin (9/5): Excellent stay, friendly welcome and superb breakfast - We received a friendly welcome from a chap who I think was the manager, it gave us a positive start to our stay.
The room was lovely and clean, the bathroom was spacious with an excellent shower and the breakfast was superb. Although difficult to solve easily, there was no air conditioning, it was very warm that weekend and the heat in the room was stifling at times.
The pub is someway out of Oxford which might put some people of, we were not as we knew the location.
- Bailee (10/5): -

- top ontbijt
- heerlijk diner
- vriendelijk en attent personeel - klein bed
- Bertrand (9/5): Ideal if you are looking to peach and quiet in an old charm setting with friendly staff. - The site and serenity found at the Inn was just what we needed. Located away from the bustle of the city, but a short 15 city bus ride to Oxford. A lovely country church chimed in the distance, adding to the magic of the place! Nothing that I would complain about! Doors with low and small, which added to the charm of the place.

- Susan (10/5): -
- Y1448RLjamess (6/5): Lovely - but take your own hot water - Very mixed.
The room was generally spacious, warm and nice, and some of the staff were lovely. Location is great to oxford
That said, a few things weren’t so great. The room overlooked the carpark, and the window covering was just a wooden blind - so the room was light all night. In the bathroom the window was broken, and floor tiles were cracked and broken.
Biggest issue we had though, was that in the second day, there was no hot water - there was mid winter. When we eventually went down to the bar to complain, we were told it would be fixed shortly… but even by the next morning it was still cold. Everyone had boiler issues now and again, but the lack of any communication of what had happened (even when we complained) - or to keep us updated - or any attempt to mitigate the impact on us was frustrating. Not even a good will gesture in relation to the bill to reflect the inconvenience. Not really what I expect at this price point.
Would have been a 2 - but I assume this was exceptional.
